Reviews of Marriott Birmingham Grandview 3*
Great place, great family time!
After checking in online we were unable to get a digital key and were told to come to the front desk. When we arrived we were give a room with 1 bed for our family of 4 when we had booked a room with a king bed and a sofa bed. The front desk staff never apologized and instead took an hour to deliver a roll away bed that was only big enough for one of our children and the mattress appeared filthy. It was almost 11:00pm at this point but we almost drove the 2 hours home because there was not enough room for our family to sleep. We asked to speak to management about this but have yet to hear from them which is why I decided to post this review. On top of being given a room we didn’t book the room did not appear finished (there were unpainted patched places along the floor board) and one elevator was not working, making it difficult to get to the room.
Always enjoy my stay here when I visit Birmingham. Rooms are clean, staff is friendly. Currently under remodel but it didn't interfere with my stay at all.
Excellent staff and management 👍🏾
Was placed in a room that had dirty linens. Pulled back the sheets and someone left these socks. My husband went to the front desk and the manager with another employee stated they “had just let go of 4 employees for not changing linens”. We were moved rooms and promised 25000 points to be used on another stay and never received anything. Also upon check in a Caucasian employee was being loud and rude to another guest that wanted to check in to her room (that was not ready after check in time). Was not the customers fault. Do not stay here.
I would not recommend this hotel. Room was not clean nor was the rest of the hotel. I requested my room be vacuumed but that never happened. I ended up picking up all the little hair balls myself 🤮. I tried to contact the manager, Deon Jones, several times but never heard back from him. I finally received an email after I complained to Marriott and he asked me to give him some times I would be available to talk and I did but again I never heard back from him. Terrible service!
Very friendly staff. I was welcomed with smiles! The bar and restaurant were pretty good. I only ate but they seemed to have a nice selection to choose from. Room is clean and water pressure is good. No complaints.
The staff has been great but for the price, the amenities are few. The swimming pool is ridiculously small for such a large hotel. There’s no microwave and the fridge is tiny. Room is okay, clean and comfortable bed. But for the much heftier price, it’s simply not worth it.
My daughter and I traveled from Atlanta to this hotel to find out that our room confirmation was not being honored. The front desk said initially 30 minutes for a room to be ready. 2 1/2 hours passes and no guarantee of any room would be verbalized by the staff. My daughter and I were left with no secure place to stay. I spoke with BonVoy customer service who stated this hotel should have made other arrangements at another hotel for you and your daughter. Come to find out, there were 15 other guests that were suffering the same dire issues. The folks that we were traveling with didn't get their room until 8:45 PM even though they had been there since 3 PM. Having been a BonVoy member for over 15 years, I have never been confronted with this level of guest service at any Marriott property in the country. Recommend staying at the Spring Hill suites, a Marriott property, or the Hilton Double Tree to ensure a positive experience. I would like to give a shout out to the Springhill Suites agent who recommended the Hilton to me and my daughter because they had no vacancy. Extremely helpful and keeping the customer at the center of service.
Arrived at this hotel around 11:30pm. First, we waited in line to check in for about an hour. There were already several other parties in the lobby and restaurant area waiting for their rooms. We also waited for a room. We finally got into a room with our two overtired kids around 2am. We’d booked 2 rooms. One king. One double. After settling into our one and only room, a stranger attempted to come into our room using a key made freshly by the front desk. They assigned our room to someone else after we were in the room! Thank God I’d used the latch lock. About 10 minutes later we get a call from the front desk asking for our last name. Great. They got that situated. Ten minutes later, as I’m falling asleep, we get another phone call from the front desk to make sure we’re ok. I appreciated the concern but I was over the disturbances. All four of us ended up sleeping 4 deep in one king bed. We’ll likely never stay at a Marriott again.
This had to have been the worst display of hotel management I have ever seen. My family and I left work early to drive up here for a kids sporting event. We wanted to get checked in, get the kids some dinner and get them to bed at a reasonable hour for a weekend tournament. We did not get our rooms until 11:30 at night. There were plenty of other families that were in the same boat as us and some didn’t get in until 2:30 in the morning. When we checked in we were told our room was still being cleaned and there would be a 30 to 45 minute wait. Had they would’ve been honest with us in the first place, we could’ve looked for somewhere else to go. The next day the kids were playing in the pool. There were no towels in there. I asked the manager on duty for more. She said she would bring some right over. However, they never came. I happened to be walking by there later that night and needless to say, still no towels. I’m sorry but I thought Marriott was a little nicer of an establishment than this. The least Marriott could’ve done was given us some drinks vouchers or dinner vouchers or something for the time lost. Their management did NOTHING. Apparently Marriott is well off enough they don’t need return guests. Save your time and money… GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
The breakfast was over priced.

This hotel had the worst service of any hotel I have ever stayed at!
I had multiple issues here. First, the AC was broken when I got to my room. I called for maintenance to come fix it. He finally showed up late to look at it. He still did not fix it as it was not working. The guy that came dropped a lit cigar on the floor before leaving. It was a good thing I was there as it could have caught the place on fire! Since they never got the AC to work they finally let me change rooms.
I get to the second room and there were holes all in the wall that looked like gun shot holes! Very scary!
I notified the front desk just so I would not get charged for the damage. They seemed as if they could care less. The pillows smelled awful and were not firm at all. I called to have them replaced. They never showed up with new ones. Also, the beds are VERY hard and uncomfortable!
I put the “do not disturb” sign outside my door but they still came in multiple times. Very disrespectful!
There is no shuttle from the hotel to airport or anyplace else like I was told there would be. It’s 10 min from the airport and no shuttle service?! However, after checking into it most all hotels in the area have shuttle service but this one does not!
And this is suppose to be a Marriott?! Very disappointing!
Checkout process was awful. The guy at the desk said he was to busy to help me and walked away. I had to wait 20 min for someone to come take my keys and get checked out!
We had a great time there and staff was wonderful.
Nice clean room. Very spacious everyone is very nice.
Attended several events there. Nice venue, good food and staff is good to work with.
Only there for a Christmas Meeting and Brunch. The food was delicious and the staff were awesome, very attentive. The Christmas trees were beautiful. Parking was great and free.
Very nice Marriott property with helpful staff.
It has so much meeting and banquet space. It is huge! Tastefully decorated. Kind employees who introduce themselves and offer to be at your beck and call.
Nice place. Friendly service. Good food.
Wonderful rooms. Friendly staff. Very comfortable roo. S.
M Club is great, too! Nice place with nice upgrades… friendly staff!
The front desk personnel where very courteous & professional.
The rooms were large & clean
will definitely stay here on our next trip to Birmingham.
Great hotel, friendly staff and the breakfast was delicious!
I stayed at this hotel for a business trip. The staff was extremely accommodating and very friendly. The lobby and public areas were beautifully done, with a cafe style food court and a bar, great location to shopping and restaurants and had convenient parking with valet service available. Downside — the room I received was less than quality. There were holes in the sheets (otherwise, clean — smelled of detergent, no stains or remnants of previous guests; I felt the need to check :-/), the room was not properly stocked with the promised amenities — only decaf coffee with no sugar, no cups, and the fridge barely worked. The room had a stale odor that seemed out of place for the freshly renovated look. The bathroom was gross, had curly black hairs everywhere, smelled of urine with urine on the floor behind the commode and the hairdryer reeked of the same odor when it was powered on, and the shower curtain was mildewed. I cannot praise the counter staff, maintenance, and kitchen staff enough… they were wonderful! I wish I could give 5 stars, but the room itself made it about a 3.5. The cleaning staff, though courteous, I believe, may need better training.
I only stayed overnight to sleep on my road trip, but the service given to a in-n-out guest as phenomenal. The travel site messed up the room booking but the front desk bearly batted an eye and quickly sorted my room out for me. The morning crew knew about my room situation and made sure everything was to my liking before wishing me a safe trip. This was one of the best hotel service I've had and it's a darn shame I was only there for a quick overnight stay. I'll definitely be back if I'm ever in the area again!
I've traveled into Birmingham for work for a few years now, and I have to give credit to the hotel because they've made great strides with the renovations. The newly renovated rooms are modern and up to speed with the new Marriott properties. The beds are comfortable and firm, but the pillows suck and are way too soft to sleep comfortably. The hotel is located right off of 280 which is the main drag to many restaurants, shopping, and local gyms. The hotel restaurant is slightly overpriced but the menu is good. Overall, a great stay and Andrea at the front desk is awesome.
A nice respit along our way. The pool was fairly large and the kids loved it! This is a larger hotel with small convention center and close access to many great restaurants. The staff was helpful with recommendations for kid friendly dining nearby (We ended up at Cheesecake Factory)
Newly renovated room looks nice. Well equipped room and the beds are the usual comfortable Marriott mattress. Friendly staff members. Great breakfast option. There's a Starbucks on premise to help wake you up! The only downside for this hotel is the ratio of rooms/floors to elevator. There's only two elevators for the entire hotel? During our stay this weekend, there's only one operating elevator.
The staff was friendly upon arrival and promptly checked me in to my room. The rooms were very nice and clean as well as more updated/modern. The only issue was you could hear anyone in the hallway very easily. Even when the were trying to be quiet.
Attended an Allergan sponsored meeting at the Marriott last evening. The meal was wonderful and the conference room set up and staff were both quite impressive. Will definitely return and recommend this hotel.
I paid for a hotel that is suppose to have air conditioning, internet, and working lights. I ended up with a room that was miserable. Yes I had a bed, running water, and cable which I am thankful for. However, every time you went into the restroom, you had to endure the smell of urine, and the hotel room was so humid. Marriott Customer Service has been horrible. They will acknowledge my concerns and state they will contact me shortly, but never do. This has been going on for 5 days now. Definitely love Hilton. If you have any complaints, they will resolve it immediately! Thank goodness I only had to stay 1 night!
Stayed there for a weekend vacation. Staff was super friendly. Enjoyed my stay. Was my second time there, would stay again. Location is on 280 and easy to get to highways and stores and restaurants.
As an event planner and just finishing up a conference at the Birmingham Marriott last week, I must say, I was very impressed mainly with the staff! Derek & Demarlo in the banquets department are phenomenal! They are very pleasant, professional, prompt, and knowledgeable! They didn’t allow me to stress about any parts of the meeting and that’s very hard for an OCD person like myself! Jennifer Wynn in the hotel room dept is amazing to work with as well! You can count on these people! Food was yummy, rooms were clean and comfortable, and meeting space was efficient!
I really enjoy my time there. One of our lunches I was not very hungry and I asked if it could be put into a container and the young woman said no. That was a downer. But overall nice stay.
We have meetings here once or twice a year. Never stayed here as I live in town. Staff is always friendly, even service staff. We had food catered recently, as we always do. My boss said the person in charge said she would surprise us this time with more than just sandwiches. WOW! For a meeting none of us really want to go to the chicken, potatoes, salad, beef and all these rest made all 40 of us happy. What a great way to start a 5 hour meeting. Even got cookies toward the end. The property is well kept and in a good area.
Had a large group reservation for over a month in advance. Upon arriving at 8pm we were told the rooms were not ready. We were told they would call us as soon as the rooms were ready and went to the bar in the lobby to wait. While in the bar I was given a drink that had broken glass in it and actually swallowed some glass before realizing it. The top of the glass was broken and several pieces ended up in my drink. At approx 10pm I went and asked about our rooms only to be told half of our group would need to stay at the Drury Inn some distance away. After all the inconvenience and trouble there was no offer by any of the staff to make things right. I was charged the full amount for the room and even charged for the drink with glass shards in it! I travel to Birmingham often for business. Anyone like to guess where I won't be staying again?
My experience at the Marriott Grandview was fantastic. Everyone was great but I would like to point out one Special person. Her name is TONYA WILLIAMS and she is one of those hidden GEMS that will go the extra mile to make sure your time at the Marriott is fantastic. Tonya is very personable, helpful, gracious and a wonderful person who knows how to make sure your stay at the Marriott is a fantastic one. I have had the pleasure more than once to deal with Tonya and it is ALWAYS a GREAT experience.
We stayed at this hotel after my daughter had a day procedure done. They were so great and accommodating and helpful. That night we had run out to get something to eat and brought it back, as we return the tornado siren started going off which was a little eerie but the staff was calm cool and collected. My daughter was craving a smoothie and we went to the bar and the hotel and although it was not on the menu the sweet bartender went back and hand-cut fruit and made a smoothie for my daughter. I really appreciate it how much they went above and beyond when they didn't have to, when nobody was looking… that's what matters to me.
Loved it! Great hotel one of the best I ever stayed. Staff its very nice! A/C was a bit warm for my taste and only one drawer for you cloths besides that great place to enjoy without even leaving the hotel.
Rooms are big and very accommodating. The beds are comfy. Exceptionally quiet. Great for a good nights sleep in comfort. The breakfast buffet is a little priceybut worth it. Friendly service and the food was GREAT! Real eggs and great bacon and sausage. Fresh fruit including strawberries and blackberries. Nothing negative here.
I attended an all day training event organized by my company. When I arrived the staff had a nice breakfast set up and were eager to help if anything was needed. Throughout the day the staff was courteous and friendly. I would recommend for anyone looking have an event here.
The cleanliness left something to be desired. There was a huge hairball outside of bathroom, toilet didn’t flush well. Reported it but it did not get resolved. Ice machine on my floor didn’t work. Called front desk to ask for ice. Was told there was ice machine on every floor. Then said they would bring ice. Had to call back about hour later to finally get ice. Only positive was food in bar restaurant.
A newly remodeled with a great vibe with its update. The staff is second to none. Very friendly and very accommodating. The sales staff does a great job in meeting all of our group needs. We have been staying there for 4 years in a row when we go to Birmingham.
Huge ripoff. Booked a room here because it is advertised as dog friendly. When I arrived at the hotel, after I had already handed my credit card to the woman at the front desk, she casually mentions that there is a non-refundable $150 fee for pets. I only paid $80 for the room! They would not refund my room so I could stay somewhere else, so I had no choice but to pay $230 for a hotel room with a tiny bathtub, a TV remote that barely worked, and no free breakfast. I’d have gotten more at a Hampton Inn, for goodness sake! To make it worse, my partner used to be a Marriott Rewards super-member, and when he called on my behalf about the pet fee, they basically said, “yeah. Too bad. ”
Attended a wedding reception at this venue. Lobby and bar space has been recently renovated to a more modern/minimalistic style which looks nice. Ballrooms are fairly large only problem we had was there was another event going on next door and their music was so loud that we were unable to hear tgebspeeches given in our hall.
This location has been newly remodeled and my room was modern and comfortable. The location is very good and close by some very good shopping locations. The staff was also great and very attentive to my needs. It has a decent gym and an indoor pool as well. I would definitely recommend this location.
The fact that we had no toilet paper and a beer cap in the bathroom should have been the first sign… I stayed here with my husband and 2 y. O. Son last night, the night before Thanksgiving, and woke up to NO HOT WATER. When I called the front desk they could only agree that this was unacceptable. I was told no manager was available. No offer to have my call returned. I called again and spoke with a more pleasant rep that said she would make sure a manager spoke with me. Unfortunately, this manager lacked any customer service skills like the first rep I spoke with. I've had better customer service at the Red Roof Inn. This was our first visit to Birmingham. It will be our last stay at a Marriott location. **UPDATE** Unfortunately, we woke up Friday (11/24) morning and again there was no hot water. I went downstairs to the main desk and spoke with a young lady that was empathetic, understanding and able to compensate us for the inconvenience. The same manager that I spoke to the day before stood by as this young lady tried to help find a reasonable solution. I will say he did stop me and personally apologize. I accepted and advised him that regardless of the situation at hand, "the last customer should be treated just as fairly and compassionately as the first. "
Clean, priced right. Very nice staff. Very good breakfast. Room service options were so so but they are clearly trying. Wish I could say 4 1/2 but not an option.
The jobs are very helpful and friendly.
I visited this hotel on business travel and after a long day of work I returned to a room that had not been cleaned. My dinner from the previous night was still in my trash can, the bed nor anything else had been tended to, but they did provide fresh towels. This is the last thing you'd expect after a long day of work. The receptionist first offered me 500 rewards points then 2000 for the inconvenience. As a Marriott rewards member and simply a Marriott guest I expected better much better treatment and unfortunately will never patronize this hotel again. The amount of rewards points offered to remedy this inconvenience is an insult. I'm an attorney and did not expect that a long business day would be made longer by an inattentive and unconcerned hotel.
The hotel was nice, clean and modern. Check in was simple and quick. My room was nice for a Marriott, so exactly what I expected. Two fairly average issues for the 3 star rating. Cocktails in the lobby bar are very $$$. More expensive than a luxury hotel in Atlanta or Miami. I guess Birmingham is moving up. Housekeeping didn't clean my room for a two night stay. Left for breakfast at 9:00a. M. And came back at 6:30 p. M. Plenty of time to make up the room. When asked about this at the front desk they had no clue. A colleague of mine staying at the same hotel but different floor had the same thing happen to him. Funny thing was when I got to my room the Do Not Disturb sign was on the door and a Marriott black plastic bag hanging over it that had towels and toiletries in it. I didn't put out Do Not Disturb so I guess housekeeping fell behind and felt the best way was to put out DND and go on there way. Front desk never followed up with a reason and housekeeping never came to my room to fix clearly their miss doing. Wouldn't go back.
I cannot say enough about the amazing staff at this hotel! I have stayed at a lot of Marriott properties and this has by far been the best experience I have had! The front desk staff is amazing! Manager Tonya went above and beyond and I can’t say enough about her excellent customer service! I’d also like to show appreciation to Sarah, Lillie, Sinclair, and Darlene at the front desk. These ladies have been the friendliest, most helpful group I’ve ever dealt with. Every employee at this hotel that I have come in contact with has smiled, been friendly and polite. Thank you, Birmingham Marriott, for doing customer service right!
I stayed here on business and did not use amenities like the pool and gym, but the rest of the hotel was very nicely renovated with a modern look. I wasnt a fan of the weird chairs in the lobby but apparently that's the modern style they're going for. I just found them uncomfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the bar/restaurant had a good burger. Overall very nice stay.
After evacuating from hurricane Irma and driving 8.5 hours, we arrived at this Marriott at around 1130am-noon. They advised us of a strict 3pm check in time. Having a small animal with us we decided to wait outside for 3 hours. At about 245pm I asked when we would be able to get into a room, the lady said I'm hoping about 330pm. That was a little irritating considering we had been there so long already. 330 rolls around still no room. At that time we brought all of our things in and sat in a hallway. There was a German Shepard dog that was allowed to bark at other animals and people the entire time. How could they allow one animal to disrupt the entire lobby? How hard is it to send them outside if they can not behave? After 4pm is when I was told our room was ready. The toilet seat was broken and sliding side to side like it was going to fall off, called to see if maintenance could fix it, think they ever came? Of course not. There is only AC, so if you're cold that's just too bad. The house keepers have no standards to abide by. They replaced the towels and made the bed. You could see where our heads laid in the pillows from the night previous. The host during breakfast was all over the place, people were lining up waiting while she was nowhere to be found. The lobby is a large area with benches and seating everywhere. Still had to wait on a list, to eat in a designated area. I feel like I was in a brand new super 8 hotel or maybe holiday inn at best.
As a Hurricane Irma evacuee from Georgia, I didn't have high expectations for my five nights in Birmingham but this Birmingham Marriott impressed me from the moment I arrived. Darline at the front desk took it upon herself to call me when my room was ready, even though she wasn't the one who checked me in. When I picked up the key, she went above and beyond the call of duty to help see if a better room was available so our baby could sleep better. She also asked my baby to pick out a complimentary snack from the pantry. It's small details like this that make a real difference, especially when you are on the road evacuating from a the worst hurricane the nation has seen. The highest praise goes to Darline for her proactive attitude, warm genuine friendliness, and the kindness she extended to my family and I.
Convenient to shopping and food and activities makes this a home run! On site restaurant is to notch and room service accommodated our late request with gusto! Rooms are great. Pool and fitness great. It's won't disappoint.
I recently visited the Marriott on highway 280 for a one day symposium for band directors. The staff was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. They all wore a smile and a pleasant tone of voice whole they showed me around, answered questions, and generally struck up conversation. The facilities were clean and orderly. The catered lunch was delicious and well-prepared (because I was honestly expecting overcooked chicken and was proven very wrong). I would enjoy returning for a non-business occasion.
The hotel, and rooms are beautiful. The staff go far and beyond making sure my needs are met. I will stay here again, and again.
I'll stay away from the fact that it was torn to bits during my stay. I'm glad they are improving it. The lobby looks as though it will be really nice. The rooms are also remodelled and super modern and nice. What's my 3 stars? The walls are paper thin. Something you can't do anything about it. You hear everything your neighbor is doing… Down to them breathing. It's horrible. Expect no privacy and hope your neighbor doesn't snore.
Welcomed with a smile at 11 pm and a quick check in led to an easy process for getting from car to bed. The rooms are all being renovated and the one I stayed in was bright, clean, and really comfortable. The showers have great water pressure which is a huge plus. There is a Marriott Starbucks in the lobby and the breakfast buffet is excellent (although a little pricey). Nice sized weight room with an indoor pool allows for a decent workout with free weights, machines, and treadmills. Highly suggest if in the area.
Very good overall. Rooms were clean, relatively spacious, and comfortable. Bathroom was good as well, though our room did not feature a lockable door, only a sliding blurred glass panel. Shower water pressure and temperature were both great as well. I cannot attest for other services I haven't used.
I am extremely disappointed. We drove in from Knoxville and plan our stay here as the halfway point to Panama City. Once we checked in and got to our room we realized we did no revive to room we booked. We was supposed to have a king bed and a sofa bed but instead just a king bed. Now I may need to mention that it is my wife, my 4 year old son and my 1 year old son and we are expected to sleep in one bed. I went up to the front desk and showed them my booking and all they said was they are sorry but my booking was not guaranteed even though this is what I paid for. They refused to make anything right and was extremely rude and inconsiderate. I will never waste my money at a Marriott again.
Very convenient location to the highway, pretty area, nice lobby, friendly staff, and a comfortable room. Only complaint is I can tell the rooms are starting to get a little tired, but it was perfect for a one night stop on the trip.
Great location, front desk was very friendly. Only a quick one night stop on our way to somewhere more south, but would definitely use as a checkpoint again.
We stayed one night at this hotel and I have never seen a staff any more friendly or professional! Every employee spoke to us and was asking for ways to serve us. The breakfast bar was delicious. There were a couple of minor issues in the room, so that is the only reason I'm not giving five stars. I would make this a regular stop for my family on our travels!
My favorite Marriott because of the great service and lounge. Only reason not a 5 is because the building is aged and the TVs don't have a true HDMI hook up. I do know they will get a remodel at which time they will get 5. Amazing guest service!
The Marriott hosted an event for Alabama Funeral Directors. The grounds were nice, food was good, and parking was plentiful. I hope to attend more meetings there in the future.
Very nice hotel for the price I got it for. The room was clean upon arrival and had a very easy time checking in and out. We only stayed one night so was unable to check out all of the amenities but overall had a great experience.
The room was reasonably nice, but there were a few things that bugged me. For one, no free Wi-Fi. Also, while the breakfast appeared to be complimentary, it was not. It was $18 for food that just was not in any way worth that. Not to mention the fact that the price was not mentioned anywhere that I could see. The last thing was the staff. Check-in was a lot more difficult than it needed to be. Ultimately, this was very disappointing considering the Hyatt down the street was such a pleasure and cheaper.
Our experience at the Birmingham Marriott was pretty good. The shower was pretty weak, but that is about normal at hotels. Other than that, the only other downer was being charged for Wi-Fi. I realize several hotels charge for this, but it still amazes me this is free at McDonalds and cheaper hotels. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, we would stay there again.
Disgusting! This is NOT a 3.5star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. I am not a 'fancy' person but I need something clean with a comfy bed and in a safe area to be satisfied. We pulled up and it was like the neighborhood nightclub (a low class one) had just let out in the parking lot. There were groups of people screaming and partying with boxes of wine in hand. When we were checking in, the poor front desk girl was being harassed by one of the men walking around with a box of wine. He was repeatedly propositioning her for sex and I felt so sorry for her. We were placed on the 2nd floor. We had my 4 year old daughter and 13 year old son with us and we didn't feel safe at all with the people who were milling around. The carpets in the hallways are FILTHY and the elevator was dirty with spilled food all over it. When we got to the 2nd level, the stench of obviously very-recently-smoked marijuana was in the air… More people milling around the hallways with curlers in their hair and bathrobes on. Sounds of partying from the rooms. We were so tired from that we just wanted to sleep. We pulled out the sofa bed: no bedding and no where in the room. Had to call front desk to have it delivered. 20 min later, it arrived. The wallpaper in the bathrooms was straight out of grandma's house in the 1970's. I lifted the mattress to check for bed bugs and found used candy wrappers all stuffed underneath the mattress.
Clean, nice staff, and comfortable beds.
Arrived at 8:15pm, and they didn't have ANY rooms available for my reservation. Ridiculous.
This is a beautiful hotel. The bed was an incredibly plush pillowtop. Unfortunately there are two unforgivable drawbacks: no FREE Wi-Fi, and no refrigerator in the room despite having a space for it. I'd give it 5 stars easy except these two flaws were a real inconvenience for me on this occasion.
As far as Marriott's go, this one is pretty dated and sad. The decor is right out of the early 90s, back when technology was nonexistent and (thus) multiple bedside plugs were unnecessary. The snacks are best found in the vending machine. I didn't even know Marriott hotels had food vending machines. Alas, you can't beat the location and the staff is friendly and helpful.
Excellent service EXCEPT the bartender ruined my stay. She was a miserable woman. She had no personality, manners, and acted as if we weren't welcome at the bar. She even closed early having my group of 5 leave the bar area. I'm a gold member and have never been treated so coldly at a Marriott.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean with all amenities I needed. Good location.
The front desk staff were very courteous at check in but that is all the positive I have to say about the hotel other than the location is convenient. I am a frequent traveler and stayed on the executive level and the evening attendant was the WORST I HAVE EVER seen. He was rude and l had the personality of a porcupine. I left early and went to the Hilton across the street.
Great location and superb staff. Property could use a touch of an update but is overall above average for Marriott properties. Starbucks in the lobby is a plus.
While the quality, facilities, and staff were excellent, this hotel still fell VERY short on what I would consider basic amenities. At $189 a night, this hotel fails for the following reasons: no free wireless internet (cost $9.95 a day) no free continental breakfast no refrigerator (my room didn't have one but some other rooms did) pool has limited operating hours I'm no cheapskate but at this rate I felt robbed compared to what I would've received at competing hotels at a lower nightly rate. As such, I would consider the overall value at a 1 of out 3 stars.
