Aloft Birmingham Soho is amazing. Outstanding staff, dog friendly and walking distance to great restaurants and local bars. You can even walk to CVS, the grocery store and UPS. No car needed. Love, love the location. Spacious rooms and great shower. Very comfy beds loaded with pillows. What are you waiting for? Book a room already!

Love the location, the employees, and the great air conditioning! We are repeat guests. That Aloft is dog friendly is extremely important to us!

GORGEOUS hotel convenient walkability.

Terrible. Would never stay here again. Wi-Fi is so bad you can’t stream anything. Maybe 5 menu items on the bar food menu and they were out of several of them. No rooms ready even after 3 pm check in time. I had to sit in the lobby and wait. Next time I am in Birmingham I will be looking for a hotel with decent Wi-Fi and food. Without Wi-Fi and food there isn’t any point in being here.

Room service is atrocious. It’s nearly 2pm and we have placed all of our towels and trash outside of our door and nothing. We did their job for them and they can’t even just give us towels and empty trash cans? Go somewhere else.

Hotel is located in Hometown, Al. Front desk personell very friendly and ready to please. Rooms are very nice and clean. Lots of places to dine. My experience was exceptional.

Great hotel! The room is super comfortable, the staff was friendly and helpful and the service at the bar was great too. I would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Judging by the hallways, I thought the place looked cheap and trendy in an annoying way, but once we got inside our rooms, I was highly impressed. Having to stay for a month or so and so far have been very happy. Highly recommend.

Love staying here. Very friendly, beautiful and great place near UAB. It makes my trips up to UAB medical center a little easier.

Not a bad place. Convenient location close to restaurants and stores. Rooms for cleaning everything worked. The only issue I had was with this front desk staff. She would not stop watching her video to check me in.

Above and beyond customer service, great location with a neat food scene surrounding it, and clean, welcoming rooms. Couldn’t recommend more.

The customer service here was amazing. We called ahead after a long day of standstill traffic with a one year old, and were met not only with a crib in our room, but with drink vouchers for the tired mama and dad! They were more than accommodating to us when there was a puppy missing its parents next door and provided us with another room while also contacting the dog’s owners. All to say, we were met with smiling faces and felt cared for greatly by the staff. Room was wonderful and clean and I couldn’t recommend this hotel more!

Very hard beds that were thin and no microwave or refrigerator for a $300 a night room. Looks modern and Chic and the shower was nice but I wouldn't stay there again if I had other options. We stayed the night we got married on the way to the beach, and as far as I could tell they had no breakfast included with your stay. Big Bad Breakfast across the street was amazing.

This place has been great! Clean rooms, nice showers, the staff has been friendly. If you are looking for a fun place to stay, look no more! It’s nice to be able to walk to SoHo square, though it all closes to early. Room had a king and it wasn’t fancy or anything, but it was clean!

The location is great. It's within walking distance of some good shops and restaurants. The beds are comfortable and the black out curtains are wonderful. Parking is free, but it's kind of limited. The staff are friendly.

Wonderful hotel. It's very well decorated and it's in a great area! The only issue (and it's a big issue) is the bed. It feels like you're sleeping on a brick. To the point where I can't sleep at night. Unfortunately I probably won't be able to stay here again because of it.

Check in went smooth and swift. Late check in. Bartender was nice and suggestive of delivery service since nearby was closed. Room was designed differently. Disappointed that room didn't have charging ports for phone. What was worse was that toilet was dirty. Feces on seat and left side of toilet. It was almost 2 in the morning and reported to clerk next morning.

Southern hospitality is alive at the Aloft. Everyone at the front desk is extremely accommodating, especially Amanda. The bar staff at xyz is fantastic as well, suggesting drinks based on likes and dislikes. Aloft is the perfect hotel for the downtown Homewood area.

The bed gets a 2 star, and the cramped dorm-like feeling of the cold cement walled rooms with very odd decor that's going for chic-modern, but feels like 1970's bad Andy Warhol exhibit gets a 1 star. Everything was great til the room… and overall, the main reason I'm staying at the hotel is for the room and sleep quality. Rooms need more warmth and better beds. Not sure if we'll give another try, unfortunately.

This is a great hotel for everything, from sleeping to entertainment. The have a great bar and sitting are that extends to outside. There is always some type of music, overhead to live. Went to a birthday party and Aloft has lots to choose from on both the drink and food menu. It's a busy area so valet parking is best. Have a great time!

I get to stay here for work and it is wonderful! The staff are always friendly and professional. I wish there more locations! The lounge is a welcoming center after work. It's close to fast food and local shops. If you come to Birmingham, you need to stay here.

It's a very nice hotel with comfortable rooms. I did think that the bed was very firm. I checked in late at night and left early the next morning, so I didn't get a chance to see much.

Great location and I got to bring my pups at no extra charge! They brought us doggy treats and baggies. I loved all the people with their pups. It was a great stay.

Nice hotel nice location within walking distance of a least 10 restaurants. The town tends to close a little early. But there are definitely lots of little shops to walk around Within nearby vicinity. There was a restaurant connected to the hotel if your goal is to stay near by.

The lobby and hallways were ARCTIC, we were here for a long wedding weekend and told the staff multiple times but it never warmed up. We weren't able to request additional towels be brought to the room, we had to go to the front desk. Our door didn't close on its own and the cleaning staff left it ajar so we came back and had to check that non of our stuff had been taken. Excellent bartender, she's the first star of this review — thanks! (second star is for having clean beds and showers)

The hotel was clean and staff was friendly. They are very dog friendly. They have a pool table in the lobby. There were only a couple little things that bothered me. They have signs up saying their parking lots are closed and that you need to see the complementary valet. It would have been so much easier for me to just park my own car. Especially considering the valet didn't feel comfortable backing up with a trailer and had to ask someone else to do it. Also the music in the lobby and elevators was a little too much for me. They did all the important things well, so I would not hesitate to recommend Aloft to a friend.

I ate at the restaurant, Michael's, which is part of the hotel. (I did not actually stay at the hotel. ) The food was really good. I had the hamburger steak, mac and cheese, and steak fries. The hamburger steak was great, and the mac and cheese was some of the best that I've ever had.

The aloft is like an eclectic dorm. It's really cool but not a magnificent hotel and I don't think it's trying to be. If you want a good clean stay at a funky hotel with bliss cosmetics, then absolutely stay here.

I gave this hotel 4 stars because it’s fairly nice and the nicest hotel I’ve stayed at in Birmingham. It is modern, clean, and reasonable for the price. The staff were super helpful and the lobby is attractive. Also they allow pets. That said, I would equate this hotel to a new La Quinta. I was a little disappointed by the Aloft given the amazingness of the Westin and W. But I think it’s just not for me. Oh, and the neighborhood is lovely, but everything shuts down at 9pm.

I love visiting Michael's for lunch. The beef tips and rice delicious.

A nice, clean place for business or casual stay while in Birmingham that is surrounded by various restaurants within walking distance. Free parking connected to the back of the hotel, free Wi-Fi, and option for breakfast voucher ($7 value) or points for stay. Staff was very friendly and informative and managed to get us early check in at 2 PM. Unfortunately, there was a recent policy change that requires 48 hours for cancellation or modifying length of stay. Overall, would return to stay here again when in town.

There were 2 of us staying for the weekend of the 2017 hair show. The room was suitable, clean, had a mini fridge, beds slept great, and the air worked good. No microwave, and there was 1 bottle of complimentary water. There was only 8 hangers to store clothes, not a dresser in sight. We did have a safe, However I would hope that I wouldn't have to worry about anyone coming into our room and stealing anything but I guess you never know. The attached restaurant was very pricey but the good was good. The next day when we asked for water they were out. I just feel it was pricey for the quality and accommodations. I wasn't here for the room, all I needed was a place to sleep and get ready for that it was perfect. I loved the shower!

Aloft hotels tend to be one of the most consistent places to stay. I almost always know what to expect, which is an affordable price with a trendy atmosphere. While there isn't things like breakfast included, I have to admit the hotels that do include them I rarely eat at because even McDonalds could do better. There is however a fantastic Sushi restaurant just a block over — called Jensei Sushi — don't miss out on it!

When I checked in it was a business trip that was paid for by my company. The girl behind the desk said they needed an additional card on file. I told her that she could have my card but not to charge anything to it as I had not gotten paid yet. She assured me that nothing would be charged on my card. When I left from my time there I tried to get gas and my card declined. I called my bank and the hotel did a card authorization for over 60 dollars! My bank stated because the hotel ran it as a debit and I didn't have the funds they placed 3 separate charges of 36.00 in overdraft fees. Luckily I had cash so I could get home but when my boss and I both called all we got was apologies. I feel the manager failed to understand that if they are going to do authorizations on cards that should be explained to guests. I feel they stole from me! They could have done an authorization for a dollar not a random amount of 61.00 after being told there was little money on the account. Also, my room was not cleaned each day I was there only the first day. I never put a do not disturb sign on my door so they should have refreshed my room! Bad experience!

I would not recommend this hotel. The price is more than what the room has to offer. A plain room where the TV does not work half of the time. No free perks such as a breakfast. The front desk staff does not have the training it needs to handle issues or manage the front desk.

Decor is nice and all but they added a city tax, county tax and state tax that was not disclosed at time of purchase. I have never experienced that at a hotel before. Be sure to ask about final price before you book.

It was very clean and modern. They had themed drinks for the spoken word even I attended. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. I would love to stay there in the future.

Accommodations are decent. Very simple and minimalistic feeling. Lobby is more akin to a lounge you'd hangout in with friends. Room is pretty standard, nothing top end. Was provided free drink coupon and a hand written note welcoming me which was very classy.

It is the greatest place. We had a gathering around Christmas with some high school friends in the bar. It was a great experience and we are planning on coming back the end of June. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

Attended a little cocktail gathering in the lobby. They had some nice local craft beers on tap and the bar tender was up to speed on each one and made a nice recommendation. Neat place.

Great location, staff was amazing, check in was quick and the decor was great. While there I encountered a young black lady and a young black man at the front desk and they were both extremely polite and helpful! Will be staying here again.

I had a great two-night stay here. The room was clean and trendy. Not a lot of space to move around, but that was fine for me. It reminds you of a New York apartment trying to maximize the amount of space. There are reading lights mounted on the headboard, and for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to turn it on. So the most annoying thing was having to get out of bed every time I wanted to turn a light on or off. If you decline room service for the day, then they will give you $5 to use towards the café and convenience store located in the lobby. That was a nice perk for me. The pool looks nice and the fitness center is above average for most hotels.

The handicapped accessible room leaves much to be desired for accessibility — step over pan to get in shower, no grab bars by toilet. The beds are hard as rocks. Room seems relatively clean, but I did find blood on my bedspread. Rates are fine, location is great, decor is nice, and staff is very polite.

It's a typical Aloft hotel. Edgy and trendy. The rooms are always clean. Don't really like the shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispensers on the wall in the shower but you find that in mist Aloft locations.

This is a very nice, modern hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. This hotel is located in a good spot where you can walk to plenty of shops and restaurants. The fixtures are nice and the ceilings are high, with big windows. It's pet friendly, so there are dogs around. The pool, gym, lobby and bar are all very nice. There isn't a completely breakfast, but there is a cafe.

Hotel of modern style. Comfortable and spacious rooms. The only point where it fails is that it has no restaurant and the breakfast is quite loose. The service is very attentive.

Room is nice, modern, and spacious. The hotel also has underground parking directly beside it. Location was nice as we were able to walk around to watch the 4th of July fireworks as well as get dinner.

Pool is a joke and the gym is under construction. Also never gave me the products for my dog, even though we called ahead to get that set up. Cute idea, but the Ikea furniture is probably a bad idea.

The space was great for a team meeting. It has a very modern feel to it and the bar area was great for winding down after.

Located in a safe area, with various shops and restaurants easily walkable. Decor is typical aloft, with modern decor, high ceilings, bright colors, soft rock music, etc. Staff was friendly with good suggestions for nearby food and shopping. We arrived early and they were able to check us in after a little wait. They have a pool table you can play for free and plenty of lobby seating. The bar was dead, even for a Thursday night. Suspect most visitors are there for business.

My boyfriend and I have stayed here a couple of times now. We love the location because we can walk to some delicious restaurants and have the luxury of hanging out at the downstairs bar. It is in a great location in comparison to the activities we do while in the city. Highly recommend staying here!

I was expecting more from this place. I was very disappointed, but I must say the staff was very friendly. It was a few things that bothered me: Internet didn't work, refrigerator didn't work, room phone didn't work, shower drain didn't work.

I Stayed at Aloft in Feb. 2015. My room was not cleaned. I had to clean my own bathroom. My fridge did not work. Management was not helpful. I left the General Manager a voicemail. He emailed me back. I after I explained the poor conditions of the room. He didn't email me again. Management here sucks. I will never stay there again. Save your Money People.

These people charged me and my friends a $250 fee because they said our room smelled like smoke. None of us smoke and we didn't smell anything odd in our room. We booked it through Expedia and feel like they charged us the fee because we got the room at a discounted rate. They didn't have any physical evidence, only the "word" of two people saying so. Anyone can say that or anything else if they wanted to, but there is no protection for the customer we tried to be nice and work with management but they would not work with us. We even got expedia involved and they have not returned their calls, our calls or cooperated at all. Do not stay here.

I had a terrible experience with Ava's Flowers and some miscommunication regarding delivery at the hotel. When the manager of the hotel, Ms. Powell, heard about it, she IMMEDIATELY fixed it.
