My family and I visited the Smiles Beach Hotel — Nungwi, Zanzibar. In september this year and were blown away! We booked our 4-week sarafi tour through Tanzania with Blue Lotus Travel and Tours Ltd and spent the three days relaxing on the white beaches of zanzibar. The hotel in itself is stunningly beautiful: a handful of almost victorian looking houses with balconies and spiral staircases with a direct view of the blue pool and the even bluer ocean. The rooms and bathrooms are quite big and are already equipped with mosquito nets above the bed. The restaurant is even closer to the ocean and at certain times of the day you can watch countless fishing boats at the horizon while you are enjoying your snack or coffee.
But the best thing about Smiles are by far the employees!

Nungwi, located on the Indian Ocean …, not much could be wrong!

I ve just came from Smiles Beach Hotel. It is fantastic hotel with beutifull beach, hospitality, good food, nice clean rooms. Very very nice. The best for that price!

Beautiful resort with wonderful atmosphere. Wonderful swimming pool with a view of the sea the restaurant with sea views. The Staff is very polite, and attentive to the needs of our customers. I have read several negative reviews due to the fact that they do not sell alcohol, but I wonder: you go on vacation to get drunk as a priority? In any case, wonderful place and Hakuna matata.

Very nice and clean hotel where you can enjoy his Breakfast by the sea. Courteous and nice staff, come on. It couldn't be better.

Aeysha the receptionist and Frank at the restaurant are amazing, friendly and the sweetest smiles. The hotel has an amazing pool and the rooms comes with air con, fridge and coffee and tea facilities. Everything is in walking distance. The hotel is clean, neat and I highly recommend Smiles!

It is quite beautiful place to stay however, I thought the food takes little bit longer than usual. By the way no alcoholic drinks sold here although you can come with your own.

This place is amazing it has free Wi-Fi the pool is spot less the rooms are amazing the food is like your in a palace this is the best hotel I have ever been to in my life.

Had a nice stay in Zanzibar. Near restaurants and diving outfitters. Call to prayer mega phones can be heard though around outside the rooms.

Very nice bungalows with sea view, only 4 pieces, with 4 rooms each, 2 on the ground floor and 2 on the first floor. Very fine white sand beach, clean. Swam in the Indian Ocean, the water is often moved and warm. Breakfast and dinner were very good. The grounds are nice and quiet and not overflowing. You can walk to other restaurants, small shops, diving base and yoga school on the beach.

Very relaxing place. I loved it and enjoyed it.

This is a very peaceful hotel with a very quiet environment… Small events on every weekend. The food is great also.

A hotel with good rooms, the breakfast is very good and even the restaurant serves a tasty food, I would recommend smiles for the view and the proximity of all activities and restaurants.

Best location in Nungwi, on the quiet part of the beach but very close to other restaurants. Staff are friendly and helpful. I was travelling with two friends and we got along with the masai from day one! I would definitely go back :)

Its a paradise on Earth, best view, quiet, relaxing free breakfast, free Wi-Fi, refrigerator, hot water, air condition, television, free tea and coffee inside the room clean room, swimming pool, best beach in zanzibar, nice food, friendly staff, and so much more you won't want to leave the place. Going to this place you see a great contrast between the local Zanzibar people and the turists who visit this lush Island. This hotel tries to keep local looks but also maintain the highest luxus for the tourists. Beautiful place, great and attentive staff who really gets to know you, laidback style and cheap. They recommend and plan activities for you and does just about anything you ask them to. While I didn't try their spa, I did hear from other guests it was great! But they do have power failures like the rest of the island, and birds flocking about everywhere (even in the houses), some minor leakage and not all the food at their restaurant were all that great, so that dragged it down for me… The breakfast was, however, really good!

My wife and I visited the restaurant of this hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We enjoyed a good curry dish. Unlike many other places along the beach, the music wasn't too loud. But most of all, we'll forever remember this place for the excellent service of Jacqueline, a wonderful waitress. We stayed at the nearby Hilton, but none of the Hilton staff came close to her level of genuine customer care and kindness. Thank you 'Smiles' and thank you Jacqueline!

Top hotel in Nungwi, best services! Rooms very clean, every day new towels and blankets, beautiful pool and beach. Amazing breakfast. We need baloons and candless for birthday and they helped us with everything. We stay for 6 nights and we had the best time ever.

It is a charming compound with 4 small houses / 16 rooms but this is what makes it so special between all the oversized hotels in Nungwi. This is the perfect spot to relax and feel the vibes of Zanzibar.

Very friendly and professional people. I received the best services I never had before looking forward to come back next year. So for my lovely stay I rate you with 10 points. Aylin was so caring and easy to go along with. I am gonna miss the food most and she's the reason kitchen is clean and food is delicious. Love ❤️ you Smiles Beach Hotel.

Right on the beach, one of the best places on Nungwi.

Awesome hotel in Nungwi, perfect place to relax after climbing Kilimanjaro. Danika the operations manager was there to greet us when we arrived, and made sure our stay was pleasant. Smiles is located in the much quieter beach front area in Nungwi, but is still only 5 minutes walk on the beach from a lot of the large and busier restaurants/bars such as Mama Mia and the Langi Langi. Having 16 rooms in total, its a much friendlier and cosier atmosphere than the bigger places. Most importantly the a/c could be dialled to "ice cold" to ease the inevitable sun burn :-D.

Directly on the sea. Comfortable beds and equipped with mosquito nets. The staff at the height. Breakfast. Scarce. However, the place offers an excellent alternative to the nearby resort. Travellers will appreciate. There again. Ro.

Far to expensive. Rating for rooms, beach (not a real beach), pool and coutryard: one star; sunset and sea view: five stars. We payed 160$/night and double room in august but its worth maybe 60 $ to 80 $. Location in matters of sunset and pure sea view is amazing.

This is a good budget hotel in Nungwi, big and clean rooms, sea view, nice position. Restaurant doesn't have a lot of food choice, my preference is for the B&B.

Was here in 2009 durring my 3weeks Kenia-Kilimanjaro trip. Unfortunetly in Sept/Aug many bars are closed. Nice location and enviroment.
