Fabulous food and atmosphere.

Beautiful decor Food looked lovely Polite staff Good selection of drinks and food Fab log fire.

Stayed in the large car park in our Motorhome. My wife and I and two dogs. The food was perfect, the beer was fabulous and the staff were so nice. Brought treats for our dogs and everyone came round to hold the puppy. Highly recommended Super place ❤️

Absolutely terrible, poor service! Land lady drunk, really rude and no manners! Bar staff only covering as so short but queuing out the pub and they even said they had no experience. Would not recommend at all. Avoid at all coats. We waited 1 hour and 40 mins for food after being told to wait 30 minutes before we could even order as the chef was ‘losing his head’ yes really professional! This place is an absolute joke! Awful place!

3 of us just had a girls overnight here. Everything was fabulous. Beautiful decor, comfy beds, spotlessly clean everywhere. Such a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. All the staff were amazing, friendly and cheerful. Dinner and breakfast were both absolutely delicious. Highly recommended in every respect. Thank you for a fantastic stay 😊

Great real ale best pint of mild I've had for years food very good, steak pudding way to much for me it's a lovely pub, 19th century with beams nailed onto its 17th century original ale House conjoined x.

We have just returned from a 1 night stay for a wedding down the road. The Golden Lion was perfect, the room was very clean and the staff are lovely. The breakfast was beautiful. We will be back! Thank you ❤️

Great menu, with traditional British dishes, tapas and light snacks/sandwiches to choose from. All geared up for covid compliance, with plenty of well-spaced tables in the large airy courtyard. We chose a range of tapas that were excellent quality and value. Staff were great. We'll be back!

Fab food and service last night and followed all Covid procedures perfectly. A brilliant return to feeling some normality and also feeling safe. Can't wait to come back!

Just spent 3 days in Settle what a lovely place. The Golden Lion is a most welcoming establishment. From when we walked in would you like a drink a bed or a treat that was for our dog. Food was cooked to perfection on our 3rd visit as we had only called for a drink the first 2 times. Staff our very friendly and very informative on choice of cask ales wishing all the best for the busy season ahead and we will be returning Kev and Kim Redmond Warrington and Lola.

The food was amazing, the staff were excellent, the whole place was so inviting, warm and friendly. A gem for Settle.

Called in for lunch, very pleasantry surprised. Beautifully decorated, extremely clean. A brilliant menu, very varied. Thoroughly recommend this hostelry, would definitely call again. 5 stars from me.

The staff here are really something special. Most of them are young but their attention to detail and standard of service is second to none. Whoever employs these young people deserves a medal.
This has to be the most dog friendly pub I’ve ever stayed at.
The rooms are spotless and nothing is too much trouble. The food is fab too. It’s busy but then it has every reason to be.

Good food and excellent service. I chose the Red pepper and Halloumi burger served with fries and onion rings. Really enjoyed the food. Staff are also very polite and the service is fast.

You are made to feel so welcome and so dog friendly, they have dog beds towels and water all ready when you walk in the door for your pooches … The food is amazing and the staff so helpful and friendly, we have booked in for NYE and although we mentioned it last year to Jamie, when we walked in again in July he remembered who we were and the conversation we had … now that is great customer service… nothing is too much trouble. Can't wait to spend new year up there in the Golden Lion…

Really nice hotel. Friendly staff. Good food. Nice bar. Clean and well appointed rooms. Bit pricey but location and demand dictates I guess. Lovely village.

Called for lunch yesterday & celebrate my birthday, not having been before we really enjoyed the food/service & atmosphere. I had Lamb Shanks, a huge portion it was delicious & my husband had the platter. Would definately recommend & return again soon.

Lovely refurbished hotel in city centre. Excellent cooking, good selection of well kept beers. Rooms very comfortable if a little too warm. Friendly efficient service. Lovely local staff. Good value. Recommended.

Their restaurant was a true delight during my holiday in Yorkshire! The staff was incredibly helpful and polite. They have an impressive beer selection, even for the fussy dark beer drinkers like me! The food was super tasty, came fast and gone fast! I would highly recommend it to anyone staying around Settle area!

Great food great outdoor eating and drinking fantastic service.

The lion is a very welcoming, homely pub with friendly staff, wood fire and a good choice of food. The pub itself is quite large, with roughly three rooms to sit and enjoy food and drink in. We sat in "The Lions Den", which had a selection of board games to play while spending time at the pub. Things like Scrabble, Cluedo and Monopoly. The pub is very dog friendly too, which was great for us after spending the day walking. The food menu had a good selection of food to choose from. The pulled pork burger was great, along with the chips! Desserts were also very nice. We arrived at the pub around 5pm on Friday afternoon and there was plenty of space to choose from. I'd recommend this place to anyone who is seeking a good pub dinner while visiting Settle.

Fantastic traditional pub, with very tasty food. Lovely rooms, with an amazing shower! And ALL the staff at this venue were so genuinely friendly, and so helpful with our queries and requests, that it made our stay more than excellent. I didn't get the chance to speak to many people of the small market town of Settle, but everyone I did speak to, was just very welcoming, and friendly. We will definitely be trying hard to find an excuse to return to this lovely pub, and to have a properly explore of the surroundings. Highly recommended.

Fabulous pub, with great food and booze to match. We stayed two nights. The rooms were very nice, clean and cosy. The staff can't do enough to help and were all brilliant throughout. We'll be back for sure.

Couldn’t fault the place stunning town Beautiful building staff could nt do enough for you, General Manager Peter Barton top bloke nothing was to much trouble him and his staff have a brilliant set up at the lion going threw some Refurbish work but can only make place better in my eyes anyway I and my friends salute the staff and Peter at the lion well done. Me and my friends were attending a Suprise Birthday party there was a great nite had by all we understood it is a Thwaites house so you must be very proud of this little gem of a pub Thwaites well done. Anyway keep up the good work Lion and we will be back Thankyou Ryan & Friends.

We planted ourselves firmly in the plush Wingbacks located adjacent to the roaring fire on this cold winters day. No place would we have rather been; accompanied by a frothy pot of fine local brew and awaiting a full spread of beef and all the usual trimmings (with gravy upon gravy, literally! ). If you are looking for a warm and welcoming traditional boozer after a hard days graft then this is the place for you. Top drawer, will drink again. Stu & Stetson.

I like it here. It has been remodel a few years ago but still has a good original feel to it. It was taken over by a brewery which wasn't a bad thing.

We had a brilliant stay in Settle. The Lion was a great pub to stay in, the staff very friendly and helpful, food was very good and a good choice for breakfast. The only down side is the walls are very thin in the rooms, so if you get noisy neighbours you can here them.

The Lion is the perfect place to unwind after a day of hiking in the Yorkshire dales. After successful completion of the three peaks in under 12 hours, we sat down for a few pints. The mushroom soup is a must for any visitor. I have never had soup like this and may never have one like it if I do not go back soon. Five star cooking with five star customer service.

Only had drinks here but there is a good selection of hand pulled ales and a few lagers on draught. I was very impressed with the customer service they provide. Very nice inside and there's a beer garden/courtyard, beautiful on a sunny day. I'm looking forwards to returning. Well worth checking out!

My family and I were looking for somewhere to eat in in settle when we came across the lion. From the outside the place looked very nice so we decided to give it a try. We went in and got shown to our table. The table was already set but the glasses were grubby and one water tumbler had what seemed like mould on it. We then waited about 20 minutes for our drink orders to be taken, by this time we had decided on what we were having from the menu so we ordered both drinks and food at the same time. About another 10 minutes went by until our drinks arrived. We were served with two flat cokes and a flat lemonade. I wanted to tell the waiter the drinks were flat but he wasn’t very attentive so I took my coke to the bar to complain. I was told they would bring some more over. After a little while longer the waiter brought us some more drinks and they were just as flat as the last. On complaining again I was told it was the best they could do. An hour in and all we had be given was flat drinks and bad service so we decided to leave.

My husband and I went to the Lion for lunch on a chance visit to Settle. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. There was a good drinks choice available and the food was delicious. I had difficulty deciding what I wanted as it all sounded so amazing. Highly recommend the Lion!

Lovely little pub with reasonable prices. About £60 for a 3 course meal for 2. The ribeye steak was beautifully cooked and tasted great. My partner's seafood linguine was also good. Good selection of drinks too.

We enjoyed our night here. The room was clean, the beer was good. It had a busy friendly feel to it. The Settle pudding was superb. The young man who greeted and subsequently looked after us was very likable and a credit to the hotel (I think his name was George) Our visit was only slightly tempered by the bathroom light not working and a rather surley large barman.

Dined with friends last night, we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and welcoming, a special mention to Lynne, nothing was too much trouble. I had the baked Pollock which was very tasty. There was a good selection on the menu and a specials board also. Will definitely return.

Great laid back atmosphere. Me and my partner only popped in for a pot of tea. Location Is very central to Settle and ready to get to. Received very friendly and fast service. Even the pot of tea came with a shortbread biscuit.

Friendly welcome and check-in went smoothly. Smart interior design and working hard on the restaurant. Food quality above average, beer good but limited bar in favour of an expanded restaurant. Room noise was a problem. Single glazing facing onto a courtyard with large fans running into the evening. Ear plugs were provided, but a nuisance. If they could sort this out I'd have no hesitation in awarding 5 stars.

Great friendly place. Arrived late on motorbike and all were helpful and friendly. Food and service were brilliant. Would go out of my way to stay there again.

A lovely pub. I noticed it welcomes dogs, which is just fine for me. The food, although very good, is a bit overpriced for my liking though! Good selection of beers.
