Hotel Celio

Terrible experience. Hotel showed nice single room but actual room what a rat hole. Terrible staff attitude. When complained about the room not matching what advertised, his response was leave the hotel and no refund. Staff was very rude and unfriendly. They openly said they care about themselves and customers comes second. Room given had hardly 1/2 meter around the bed to walk around and no place to put your luggage. Attached pics show what advertised vs what room was given. Stay away from this place.

We were traveling with friends who had stayed here before. The owner & workers are very good at this hotel. The rooms are uniquely decorated along with the floor tiles. It is very close to the Colosseum — very easy walking distance. Nearby are several restaurants.

My wife and I just spent 4 days in Rome and stayed at the Celio. Roberto (the, or one of the Owners) speaks great English and could not have been nicer or more helpful with suggestions and help with transportation. We stayed in the Ambassador Suite which was spacious and very clean and well appointed in classic Italian decor. It is located on a quiet street within a very short walk to the Colosseum area. The breakfast was simple but very good and perfect for us. This has a homey feel that makes it a wonderful oasis in an otherwise busy area. There is a rooftop deck as well.

We had a most wonderful stay at the start of September. The rooms were very Romanesque and ornate.
We were treated very well by everyone especially Miroslava who was so polite and friendly. She was also very patient with my attempts to speak Italian.
The hotel is two minutes from the Colosseum and other places of interest.
So thank you to all concerned.

Very convenient stay, a stone throw from the Colosseum. Very kind and understanding staff. Perfect croissants for breakfast, very good scents in the corridors, classy and well set.
They ensured that I was comfortable.

Highly recommended. Excellent location just some steps from the Colosseum. Roberto helped us with all of our requests and organised shuttles to the airport as well as to Civitavecchia.

Lovely place to stay in Rome and at a stone's throw from the Colloseum. The rooms are very tastefully done assuring a beautiful stay.

If you’re arriving from the airport, use a taxi (set price of €55). Hotel arranged driver was not there when I arrived. I called the hotel and was told by the person who answered the phone that he was coming. I explained that I did not want to wait 30 more minutes for him to arrive, and that I would be getting my own transportation to the hotel. The driver contacted me 10 minutes after I got in a cab with an image of the area he WAS NOT IN when I arrived). This resulted in me getting yelled at by the owner of the hotel.
The hotel is beautiful. The location is great. I imagine if you avoid my mistake your visit will be lovely.

A hotel with breakfast very close to the Colosseum.
It's a homey hotel, and looked like an old man lives there and works at the reception and stuff.
Our check-out was at 5am, and we had to wake him up for us to open the entrance door to leave.

My daughter and I had a wonderful and nurturing stay at Hotel Celio! Many elements formed an extremely memorable vacation — the warm and helpful staff, the delicious breakfasts, the art and attention to detail, cappuccino in the lobby, fine dining up and down the street, the grocery market a block away, the Colloseum a block and a half, the rooftop terrace where we ushered in the New Year watching the firework displays.

Awesome small boutique hotel in Coleseum area. Great staff and continental breakfast. Area has tons of bars and restaurants but also a substantial number of locals so it feels like you are truly part of a neighborhood. Would definitely stay here again!

Very close to the Colosseum you find this small, cosy hotel. The decorations are amazing with mosaic floor tiling, thick tapestries. Every room is designed individually with charming, flamboyant decorations! This is my third stay here, and I will continue to come back!
The only down side, is that the breakfast open at 8 AM, but if you notice the staff in advance that you need to leave earlier, they will try to help you!

Stayed here before a cruise in 2015 and it was wonderful. Our luggage was lost and the man at the front desk liaised with the delivery company for us since we didn't speak any Italian. The roof top paddling pool was the highlight for my then 7 year old son. Mom enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and views. Our room was a Jr suite and the most ornate hotel room we have even had. There was so much room for 3 of us. The proximity to the Colosseum is amazing. Make sure to wander down one of the side streets as find Michelangelo's Moses.

We loved our time at Hotel Ceilo. The rooftop patio was a great place to enjoy a glass of wine and see the colosseum just down the road. The gentleman who ran the front desk were super friendly and helpful with directions, food recommendations, arranging taxis. One day we left the room a bit of a shambles with backpacks and clothes everywhere. The cleaning staff went above and beyond sorting our rooms while we were out — folding clothes and neatly organizing luggage, even placing my daughter’s stuffed animal gently on the pillow. It was a lovely stay.

Location is great. Very close to Colosseum, bus stops, metro and shops. The staff was very friendly. The best part was the breakfast. That man learnt our preferences so quickly and made our visit personable.

We had a great stay at Hotel Celio! The rooms are a good size as are the bathrooms. The hotel is beautifully decorated! Centrally located, you can see the Colosseum from the street. Breakfast was good — croissants, hard-boiled egg, yogurt, fruit, jelly, butter, juice, and coffee. The service was great too, they called a taxi whenever we needed it and were very responsive to all our needs. We ended up playing a family game on the stunningly gorgeous rooftop garden one afternoon, which was delightful. The only reason I don’t give it five stars is because it was very noisy at night. Maybe this is because we had the room just behind the reception desk but we heard people loudly talking until after 11 PM.

Charged us over 300 USD for three bags of laundry. Hard bed, breakfast was only bread and a boiled egg. Front stuff not trustworthy. Not worth the price.
