Was there for tonight's staircase to the moon. 1000's of people there and no way near enough staff to handle the crowds. Total disorganization. 30min line up for a drink and over an hours wait for a pizza. Staff were doing everything they could but patrons out did staff. Management need to work this better at peak times like this. Is it all about the dollars. Oh yes.

Fish was quite dry, chips were end bits but the salad was okay.

The most amazing trip we could have imagined. The most gorgeous kind staff from the front desk to the bar, sweeping views of the bay and beautiful dreamy days by the pools. Can’t wait to return to our favourite spot. Can’t recommend enough.

We are staying a few nights at Montrose Hotel, the staff were helpful and friendly. We were given great tips n our first night about how to get a great view of the Staircase to the Moon. The evening out on the lawn area had a wonderful atmosphere, with music, great food and cold drinks.

Wonderful hotel, but we were there for lunch only… beautiful views, friendly staff, disappointing wine list, not enough premium Aussie whites and bubbles, can’t beat Chandon or Jantz.

Recently had a meal with friends. We were met at the door by Guillio. Excellent host. Our waitress Hilary was very helpful. Whilst we had a great night and some meals were exceptional my steak, ordered to be medium to well done came out "blue". Had it recooked but it just wasn't the same.

We had a function here for work. Service was amazing and always available. Catering was so delicious and on time. The views are so pretty and lots of space for lots of guests. Excellent quality and close to town.

The right place to relax after a long trip. The resort have a stunning ocean view, the food is tasty an cocktails are not bad. The night life here is lively with live music on Friday. Check the date for a staircase to the moon.

The grounds of this hotel are terrific. The view is unbeatable. The food and drinks service and choice in the grounds is excellent. The rooms are adequate and very clean. The garden view rooms don't have a garden view, more a shrubs and carpark view. Screening would assist this. But the grounds elsewhere make up for this. The pools are nice but cold in the dry season. The indoor restaurant was good for breakfast although service here was very slow. Dinner was completely booked out for days due to the full moon rising time. Guests ought to be given viewing priority for the rising moon occasions, which is hugely popular with people coming from all over town, and in the indoor restaurant on those occasions also. The band playing was top quality and not too loud. All in all a great place to stay.

Brilliant watching staircase to the moon. They turn off the lights and as the moon appears on the sea the brilliant didgeridoo player begins. Such an eerily beautiful experience went back twice. Plus hotel is gorgeous great lawns palm trees and chips!

I had the pleasure of staying from 7 — 14 July and had a fantastic time. The location is perfect within walking distance to the town centre, Matsos and the markets. It has a town bus stop out the front if you don't want to walk.
The rooms are clean and modern, the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. The cabanas looking over the bay are a great place to layback and enjoy a drink as you soak in the view.
I look forward to returning one day.

Jonny sausage was amazing! Make sure you book early as hard to get into. Food is by far the best Italian I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is fantastic and the wait staff are wonderful. Anyone visiting Broome NEEDS to eat here! We’ve eaten there 2 nights in a row love it!

Nice and quiet. Generally. But
the locals come here to eat, drink and watch the sunset.
On Sundays the hotel erects a jumping castle and every man and his dog… and their kids are here until late. So don’t plan on a quiet Sunday unless you have kids. And then you get to have time out.
Resort is walking distance from the main drag. People are friendly.
If you want an uninterrupted waterfront view room 710 upstairs or room 701 downstairs. All of the others face the pool or resort.

Room was fantastic. Very spacious and well provided. The restaurant has a good selection and as I had most of the menu during my stay I can say it's all good. Staff are 1st class from the cleaners to the receptionists, all very friendly and willing to assist.

Absolutely loved the atmosphere the service the food the alcohol in the beautiful scenery overlooking the ocean and seeing the stairway to the moon.

Great place to stay, food is fantastic the chef is very accommodating to dietary requests. Lovely place to watch the staircase to the moon or have a quiet coffee in the morning.

We came for drinks and food at the mangrove hotel. It was a really nice view and got to experience the stairway to the moon. We qoud recommend visiting this place and maybe staying there. The only thing that you need to be aware of are the mosquitos. Unfortunately they are everywhere and wil take every oportunity to bite.

Not a bad hotel. Rooms a good and the view is great. Only issue I had was no staff available to help after hours and no option for food or coffee before 7am.

Would like to say a huge thank you to the team at Mangrove especially Naomi you made sure our wedding reception was perfect and we were so happy with every thing. All our guests are still raving about how great the food was and how beautiful our venue was. The scenery was magnificent and so was the service wouldn’t have had it any other way, truly recommend this place.

Very friendly and quick check-in. Room was great, bed very comfortable. Very nice outdoor bar and eating area overlooking Roebuck Bay. A bit out of town but not a long wait for a cab.

Visited on holidays. Found it to be a brilliant location overlooking Roebuck Bay with excellent amenities, service and general ambience. Great place to view Staircase to the Moon from when it happens — if you get a place amongst the crowd! Good food and drinks at okay prices too.

Once again the TV reception was poor. Had to call reception twice to 'reset' the TV as Broome TV reception is poor apparently! Though I've never had problems anywhere else. Not that I come to Broome to watch TV but to have seen some of the Cowboys game last night would have been nice. Also the bathroom door kept jamming when closed. My wife could not get out unless assisted by me. The shower sucks, good looking rose but it sprays everywhere but where you want the water to go. Also the shower floor tiles are gloss and get slippery when wet and soapy. Found this out the hard way and have pulled a muscle in my back. Not looking forward to my 3 flights and 27 hours in a plane to Europe with my back like this!

To start with positive comments 3 meals out of 4 were great, fourth meal most expensive was cold. Can you tell me why when you go out for dinner with 4 people you can't put the whole table on one receipt, one number. Our dinner (last dinner in Broome which we will talk about) 2 people on the table received their dinner promptly quality very good, remaining 2 waited another 45 minutes for their dinner and then one was cold. During the 45 minutes wait I went up to the bar to ask if there was s problem I was advised that this was normal occurrence and I could expect the second meals in 10 minutes we waited another 20 minutes before they arrived. If you go out to dinner with 4 people I feel this is very poor service, if we had 10 on the table I can understand a delay in food. My experience in the most basic of good establishments they can get this right. Your bar staff leave a lot to be desired. People delivering the food are wonderful.

We recently spent 6 nights at the Mangrove and must say we had a wonderful time. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful (a special mention of Leia, Mark and Teagan), no request was too much trouble. The breakfasts were excellent and generous. The room was clean and had all we required. Lovely views. Even though many people were staying, we felt times that we had our own private swimming pool! Good evening dinner vibe, great pizzas, not too late or noisy for us oldies. Having checked out the famous Cable Beach area and not really blown away, we would always stay at the Mangrove.

Gorgeous location. Food was wonderful. We did both breakfast and dinner here. Highly recommended.

We have travelled the whole of Australia and we write a blog on good eats in Australia it's what we do to make a living. This is the worst place we have eaten. The food was cold when served and when asked if it could be warmed up we were told the chefs wouldn't be happy. When the meals returned there was items missing and when asked was told the chefs would not give us them as they would be wasting more food. Upon speaking to the manager he was very rude initiating the conversation with whats the problem? Continuing to say I'm dealing with you and the chef, have you two ever had to deal with chefs before and after being offended and stating the point of his rudeness he offered a refund to keep the chef happy rather then us. Absolutely appalled by the service. Which is not the norm for Broome but every city must have there rotten apple and this is it. Please if you want good food and service stay away you will get better at a road house on the Gibb which we did.

Friendly staff, spacious rooms and a relaxing garden and bar area with awesome views over mangroves. Accommodation is a touch pricey though for what you get.

Stunning views, Bar staff were chirpy and happy. They said they had the best espresso Martinis in Broome and they were definitely the best I've had. Honestly though, the view is the real winner. With loads of outdoor seating it's a great place to relax.

Not worth all the hype and expense. The views are great, the food is great and as a random coming in and having lunch or dinner I imagine it's fine. Bit as a paying guest it's a bit of a disappointment. The room we stayed in (506) was on the ground floor, it was noisy and had very little privacy. The bathroom has no proper door on it and just a see through sliding door for privacy. The light in the room at 5am is bright enough to keep you awake and there is no no-smoking area outside, which is horrible. Will not stay here again.

Great Hotel that had a much needed renovation. The decor, food and general vibe have all improved greatly. One thing that hasn't changed is the amazing view of the mangroves and the turquoise water. The rooms are modern and clean and come with a nespresso machine which is a nice touch although Broome suprisingly has great coffee including the Lockup Cafe which is a 4 minute walk down the road. For me it is the best place to grab a beer and some food and relax with friends.

Extremely disappointed with the "Garden View" room, so much so we shifted to another hotel within four days. Overlooked a dry wood chipped, litter strewn "garden" with a lovely view of the rusty corrugated iron roofs of carports next door. I will say though, the entertainment and dining area on the lawns was quite nice.

Can a new owner who actually cares buy it and do it some good? Soon? 7 years ago it was great, as of 2013 it's worse than Debbie's review.

I've become a semi-regular of the Mangrove over the past few years — and I've noticed two drastic changes (and you notice it in the reviews over the past few years). 1 — management have worked tirelessly to improve the staff's tarnished image. 2 — quality of cleanliness, hospitality, and 'above and beyond service' is now excellent. Most importantly though — many have complained about her pricing. But for those that have been to Broome, you'll know that Broome prices are higher than anywhere else in Australia — and in terms of Broome prices — the Mangrove is one of the best picks. You will pay 100% more at cable beach, and not get anything close to the experience of sitting on the elevated deck over Roebuck Bay with a cold drink, waiting for the sun to set, and the moon to surface. I've never stayed in the standard rooms, but the exec rooms are very roomy, comfortable, and convienent to the pool, bars, restraunts. It's a 5 min walk to the heart of Broome, but the food at the hotel is affordable and very tasty. To me, the Mangrove's rep will be back on top soon — I just hope her prices dont inflate like those around her.

Location is excellent but it's tired despite a supposed recent refurbishment of rooms — it could just be so much more. But the main issue is room was far from clean on arrival and daily housekeeping service was woeful — a common complaint amongst guests — at this standard, it can only get worse. After 6 days asked for linen/towels to be changed and was told to come back in the morning — reception just didn't care. Floors not swept, heavy coating of dust on overhead fan, vanity/shower not cleaned, pools dirty — it just goes on.

My room was revolting. Two shirts from the previous tenant were hanging in the wardrobe, a large box of empty beer bottles was underneath the kitchen sink, the glasses were white (they looked like they had been cleaned with Jax and had not been rinsed — yes, that bad! ). I asked for my room be cleaned and new sheets placed on the bed, but when I returned there were still the mysterious black scuff marks on the sheets that were there before my room was "re-cleaned". Basically, I couldn't wait to get home and scrub myself. Thank god I took my thongs so I could wear them in the shower! Saying all that however, I could not fault the staff. They were very polite, helpful and apologetic when I complained about my room. The food in the restuarant was also very nice. I ate dinner once and breakfast twice and it was fine. Stay somewhere else.

It was my first time in Broome and I was so impressed with the Accommodation we had at The Mangrove Resort Hotel. We had great waterfront views and was pleased at how modern and clean the rooms were. The accommodation was a great choice with friendly staff and great service. I would recommend you give them a try.
