Hello Super Hostel

DO NOT STAY HERE! I booked AND paid online but she said that she didn’t have my booking and demanded cash — TWICE the online amount! The amount has been taken from my bank account. When I refused to pay (because I’d already paid) she was quite aggressive and threw me off the property. I never write bad reviews but I don’t want this to happen to anybody else. These are scammers and hopefully won’t be long before Agoda and Booking. Com remove them! I made a formal complaint through Agoda and hopefully will get a refund soon. I never thought I would be treated like this in Sri Lanka. I’ve been here two months and Sri Lankans are among the most friendly and honest people in the world.

I book trough booking. Com.
A single room with sharing bathroom at 5 us.
When I arrieved nobody was there. But when I came back the woman told me that thos price is for a bed inside a double bedroom to share with someone else and it is with a man.
If I want a single room it is 3000 roupies. With sharing bathroom.
The room is really smelly, not clean and very humid.
I decided to pay it because it was late and moving in the dark is not good but I could sleep for sll the night because of the horrible smell in the room.
The price look cheap but in reality it is really expensive regardong the quality of the accomodation.
I don t recommend this place. Only if you don t have other choise. For few money more there are much much better in the city.

We did reservation over booking for Hello Super Hostel in Ella, Sri Lanka. I paid hostel price with my credit card through Booking system. The day we went for check in to Hello Super Hostel, the owner of the hostel told that Booking didn't pay her money. Then she said that we can't stay there. We went to the police station at the end. Owner of the hotel came to the police station also. You can see photos of police and the owner of the hostel under this comment. Although we didn't stay in Hello Super Hostel we paid money over Booking. We wrote to Booking many times but they didn't help. We want our money back. Moreover we want our time back! How we can trust to Booking system now?
We requested that the necessary action be taken with writing our check in number and sending them the receipt but no answer!
The strangest thing here is although we complained about Hello Super Hostel to Booking system they still work together! 2 thiefs!

THE WORST PLACE IN THE WORLD.
I give one star because is impossible give 0.
It is the most disgusting place I have ever been. The woman told me that she had no reservation, no bank account, no credit card. I showed her the confirmed payment from Booking (someone made the entry on the website) and she answered me in a bad mood, she didn't want to talk, and she kicked me out of the place. Everything was paid, she didn't want to talk. I had my room reserved empty, but she told me to pay again. Of course I do not recommend anyone to go there. IT IS A BOOKMARK SCAM, both from Booking and the owner. In addition, it is a place that does not meet any standard of cleanliness, security or friendliness. DO NOT GO, there are better and cheaper places in ELLA.

It was one of the worst accomodation in my life. First of all we book a room and we didnt get one we’ve booked. The room was super small and for sure not for two people. The walls and the ceiling was leaking so all the floor and some of our things were wet. We make reservaition by booking and the owner demand from us more money that it was in the reservation. The smell in the room was horrible. Only one good thing about thic place is location, nothing more. I would never stay in this place again.

The service is complete zero, the room is very small, there is a small canopy hanging over the head, the room has no repair at all. Also, when booking a room online, get ready for the fact that you are ready to be fooled at check-out and call the price 200 plus and of course pay in local currency, although when booking it was indicated in US dollars. If you spend the night and quickly get up in the morning, it will go and then with a big stretch. The only good thing about this, location is that it is close to the railway station and the centre. I advise you to avoid it for a few bucks plus, you can find a better option and there are plenty of them.

This is definitely a budget accommodation so don’t expect too much but if you’re a low maintenance solo traveler, it’s a great room.
You can’t beat the price. Just $8 per night for a private room!
It’s located right by the train tracks which I loved and super close to all of the restaurants and main road. Great location!
The host family is super friendly and helpful as well!

Unfortunately, the room was advertized as private when in fact it was shared. The main issue was that the room I was supposed to sleep in was very small (no windows) and moldy, so it was definitely a health threat. The elderly couple running the place seemed very nice and the location is very good, but a room like this cannot be offered even with that price. I have travelled for three months and I'm afraid to say that this is the worst I have seen so far.

Hi I strongly recommend this hostel for you. Hostel owner was really lovely and kind. If you visit this hostel, you should try dinner here. It was the best meal I had for 3weeks Sri Lanka trip.
But I have to put this as well. Hostel and rooms overall seem old and shabby. Considering price, i’m satisfied with this hostel, however, if you’re looking for super clean and decent room, this hostel wouldn’t be an option!

Very nice hostel run by a lovely, helpful couple. Clean rooms and comfortable beds. Tea and coffee made for me as soon as I woke up and arrived back from exploring. Breakfast, lunch and dinner offered. The owners could not be more helpful. Location is just a few minutes walk from the centre and the train station. I would definitely visit again.
