The beach, the pool, the restaurant area, the landscaping are really cool, But restaurant too expensive, rooms not worth for the amount you pay, A/C not working, dirty rooms, wash rooms leaking shower and tap, poor customer care, no smile, not welcoming, they could renovate easily, but the owner doesn't seem to bother about it. The pictures fool you on the net. Plenty of nice, stadered rooms, with really good food for much cheaper rates are available around the corner.

The Aqua Inn Hotel in Trincomalee is very nicely located right on the beach. The ambience of the bar is quite cool: Rocking tables, swings, loungers and elevated platforms on which you can enjoy the view well. The food is okay and the price-performance ratio is right. On notice signs it is explained that management dispenses with straws in order to protect the environment. This is a charming intention, but unfortunately is not followed. Straws are still available for almost every drink. The service in the evening is slow and not very attentive. Especially if you don't sit within sight of the bar. You then just go to the bar yourself and ordered. We had also booked 2 nights at the hotel. Our room was very stuffy, hot and smelled musty. The mosquito net had many holes. We couldn't sleep well. The bathroom was dirty. The tiles dingy. You couldn't shower without putting the whole bath underwater and the water didn't go well. In addition to mosquitoes and flies, we also had two small cockroaches. This is not bad in detail but in sum it was really unpleasant for us. We were allowed to cancel the rooms at no extra charge and moved. That was nice.
Conclusion: To eat and chill a cool place but an overnight stay we can not recommend.

If you like the sound of your own voice, then you will love this place, as you find yourself constantly repeating yourself to get the staff to actually bring your order. A difficult review to write. I will start with the negative and end with the positive: The service is really bad. The staff do not know anything about customer service and are incredibly dis-organised. On at least 3 or 4 occasions, I ordered food that never came. The other times, I had to ask at least twice to remind them of my order. The staff didn't particularly seem to care. The DJ plays really loud music every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday until about 1am. The place was dead and still they had the music really loud. The quality of the food is average at best. The location is great. It is right on the beach. The rooms are nice and clean and the beds really big. The resort is really quirky and we liked the layout. With some proper training on customer service and a decent manager and chef… this place COULD be amazing. At the moment, it is below average.
