Hotel Peninsular Hotel

An excellent place if you only want to lay your head in a cozy room, lacks any luxury but for a fair price. Its location is the best, since the metro is a 5 minute walk, and you can get anywhere in Barcelona in a small time, especially the Gaudi monuments and the beach, but Montjuic and Tibidabo as well. The breakfast is also very good, I particularly liked the spanish tortilla, which is an omelet from egg, onion and mashed potato. You can eat a great meal on the Bouqueria Market as well, the seafood is amazing. So if you want a cheap estate in a good location, this is your place.

Ok place, but not for kids, no Wi-Fi in the rooms! nice and clean, and ok breakfast, Just a little crowded at certain times.

Stay here just for sleeping. Rooms aren't comfortable, but the hotel is well located in the downtown. Next to Las Ramblas, Gotic neighborhood and Port.

Jaded but cheap and in excellent location. Word of warning though, keep your receipt as system failure hadn't recorded our payment in cash and we could have been stung had we not produced said receipt.

The receptionist was a miserable person and everything appeared to be an effort. The room was dated and piped music starts just before 8am. Breakfast is very basic but you can eat as much as you like. I personally would never return.

A cozy and Solera place. 10 in service and food. The best, the paella of my compatriot Conchita.

The most important is the geographical location in the city. Fast access to the subway, the beach, the restaurants, the. Rambla. Perfect position. For the rest there may be good or at least good: this is the case for the rooms, the breakfast, or the quiet. However, before the quality-price ratio, austerity and Spartan comfort are quickly forgotten. Ideal so to visit the city without breaking the ruin.

Excellent location, Wi-Fi only at the airport reception to the hotel you arrive in 40 minutes with the Metro and Tenes station DL Metro to 3 blocks, the breakfast very good and the staff very friendly, the rooms simple but good value for money.

Close to the Ramblas but a bit old and noisy.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The cleanliness is not in the room (I knew before the departure), but it has a comfortable Wi-Fi zone.

This hotel sucks. AVOID STAYING HERE AT ALL COSTS! 2 of my friends had their passports and visa stolen and one of my friends had her watch stolen. The hotel has no security or CCTV cameras. The staff is rude and unprofessional. The breakfast was pathetic and they served us stale milk. Honestly this hotel is shady and felt haunted.

Worst hotel ever, my friend got her bag stolen and the receptionist did not even care. Rooms were so bad, the bedding was dirty, the heater did not work and room kept blacking out. I got my watch stolen from the room as we had to return our keys before we leave the hotel because it was the policy somehow. I never took out my watch once during the trip but somehow it went missing. Never stay here!

Worst place we’ve stayed. My friend’s bag got stolen right in front of the stuffs at the lobby, and no one did anything or offer any help. Not just that, they even asked us to leave while we were looking for the bag, because “we’re taking so much space there”. WTH? Also be aware, the only camera they have in the hotel is NOT CONNECTED. Thats why we could even find out who did this. Imagine people from outside can just come and go freely. And let’s face it, it is Barcelona, it’s not very safe here in general. Avoid this hotel at all costs!

Worst hotel ever. A friend of mine got her hand bag stolen in the hall, right in front the reception. The staff did not seems to care much about the fact, the only thing that they were able to say was ' what do you expect, this is barcelona. rude and unprofessional. no command this hotel to nobody avoid it at any cost.

I have just returned from Barcelona with my best friend, and a 4 night stay at Hotel Peninsular. We were pleased with everything from the get go; The hotel is, first and foremost, in a great location just off La Rambla and almost everything you could want to do in Barcelona is within walking distance. Literally less than 5 minutes from Liceu Metro (which is on the same line as Barcelona Sants — the main station for trains out to the airport and the coast) We were greeted warmly on check in (I was exercising my broken Spanish, and got stuck and was pleasantly told by the young lady that it is always "better to try" when speaking a foreign language — thank you for boosting my confidence :D) All of the staff we came across at Peninsular were pleasant and friendly. We checked in very quickly and found our room, on the first floor at the back of the hotel. The foyer area is absolutely stunning, and I could quite happily sit out here for many hours were there not the whole of Barcelona to enjoy! The room is basic, but comfortable — the shower is more than powerful enough, and the beds comfortable. A little dim inside the room, but then staying so close to La Rambla in Central Barcelona I was not expecting a bright, sun drenched room. It was a little noisy outside at night as there was some form of residential area nearby which had a barking dog, but not really anything to do with the hotel.

Very clean the employees are nice and helpfull specially daria and the location is good. the bed was a little bit noisy.

The location of the hotel is great, and also really close to a metro station. However the rooms are a bit small for 2+ people (at least the ROM we were given), the morning hours are really noise as the windows are internally to the courtyar and the guests are walking about… Also the breakfast was a bit chaotic, the choices were limited with no fruits. The bathroom was big and the shower pressure was excellent, just had a very small box and the actual shower didn't stay in place. Barcelona can be quite expensive but this hotel was cheaper in price than the average so it was all right for a short stay. PS: be warned there is no safe in the rooms. There are safes in the reception though but I would much rather have my own individual safe…

A Great Budget Hotel. There was no TV in the room and the aircon was dripping. But to be honest, I didn't really care, it is a 1 star hotel, and I didn't go to Barcelona to watch TV. A towel and bucket combated the drip. I had aircon a comfy bed an en suite. The Hotel is full of character as it was an ex convent. It's in a perfect location next to the very popular las Ramblas. As well as the amazing Gothic Quarter, where you could easily spend a week investigating. The internal courtyard is a tourist attraction in itself. You have to see it. I generally liked everything about this hotel, and it was the cheapest I could get in August. Thankfully I missed the Attack by a day. But don't let those idiots put you off, Barcelona is an amazing place, and I hope to visit again for longer in the future.

Had booked a single and a double room for 2 nights. Got a 3 bed room of very low standard with mould on the walls instead for the first night and the rooms we had ordered.

Great location, really nice courtyard inside. Clean and friendly staff. A little loud at night as the sound tends to echo around the building.

Location wise it is best place to be in. Metro is just round the corner and hotel rooms are spacious with basic facility.

Poor overnight staff. Poor organization.
I booked a room and asking if he could expand the start time to 2 pm since I went to Barcelona to work at night from the outset. I said that if I could be and without costs. Very basic. Helpful staff. My room was simple with a curtain separating the bedroom from the bathroom. As I was travelling alone thus didn't bother me. I was beside a dorm room of about 12 German teenagers who every night created a huge noise. However after speaking to the hotel staff about it it quickly settled. The owner was lovely and was very proud to teach me Catalan.

Pure. Center. The Windows overlook the courtyard. Them in fact is not.

I went with a College Trip on March for 5 days and I'd say the hotel is not too bad for a 1 star. The rooms were small but it was nice, sometimes cold but I endured it. The hotel itself was cold in my opinion but I endured that as well. The staff were lovely and helpful, the breakfast was good. There was Wi-Fi downstairs on the first floor and because I was on the third floor I had the connection of the Wi-Fi but it wasn't strong so I had to go down stairs now and then to check my messages. Although on the bad side because Hotel Peninsular is an old building, I could hear people shouting and laughing in the other rooms at night so that was annoying as f*ck especially when I had a long day outside. But overall Hotel Peninsular is good. It's not bad, it's not excellent. It's alright, I guess. I'm from the UK.

Stayed here for a university trip, it is 1 star so that is what you get. Our room was quiet nice, however lukewarm showers never hot, so couldn't even shower properly. Staff was nice except one D***, who was the rudest thing ever. First of all he was racist, kept telling us to be quiet which is fine if we was making to much noise, but then he will turn the lights off and say he will call the police. What he did to me was much worse, I was outside the hotel and sat at the edge of the step, where I usually smoked for the 5 days there, he came out and told me not to smoke there because of other customers, he then said this is a hotel not a brothel trying to insinuate that I was some kind of prostitute because I was smoking, this was disgusting.

Stayed in the hotel before cruise 26.10.12 and after cruise 03.11.12.
Very simple, no frills hotel. For the down-to-Earth, normal turystov. Rooms are old, but clean. Without TVs. Air conditioning was on, but we are at the end of October, they were not used. Elevator works. Pleasant staff. The room is equipped with free Wi-Fi Internet. Good breakfast buffet with tea, coffee, Butera, buns etc. Biggest plus is located near the Center, 1-2 minutes walk from Las Ramblas ("centrâkovoj" — walking streets that connects Plaça Catalunya with the Columbus Monument at port promenade. Nearby Hindu kafeshka. Normal food. Chicken wings (5pcs. ), potatoes, salad — two copies + beer + Cola = € 12.2.
The same food on the Ramblas is set to 2 or 3. Only at night, mostly on weekends, sometimes Spaniards behave noisily. So the daytime block.

Scary! Someone came into our room at 4am — with the key! We screamed and the person fled. The next morning, the staff didn't want to hear anything about it. They just said that it was impossible, as if the four of us had all been having the same nightmare. The staff refused to call the manager and I have not even been able to find his/her name. Add to this the bedbugs and the noise, and the surprise of being obliged to pay cash for the room, this is beyond a doubt a hotel to avoid at all cost.

Very nice staff, but a little bit too pricy during the summer for what it is :). Our room was quite large. It had 6 beds. We were never really at the hotel but we enjoyed the breakfast and the staff. Our room smelled! which was not that pleasant. The odor was coming from the bathroom, but because our room was so big it was not as bad. The towels were nice and the shower never ran out of hot water. So that was nice. It is an ok place but it is not anything special but for somebody who doesnt have a lot of money and wants to just sleep at the hotel and enjoy the city during the day it is perfect.

Don't expect the Ritz but the bed is comfy and who wants to stay inside in Barcelona anyway? breakfast is bread, a muffin, tea, coffee etc. You might need more to eat, in which case dont eat on the ramblas, its a rip off. Just behind the market there's a sublime restaurant, called "rouge something" or "something rouge" I forget.

First off, if you are looking for a luxurious stay you should not choose this hotel. The rooms in my case were dirty and badly furnished. Some of the employees are a bit fierce — but not insolent. The breakfast is acceptable but not more. Despite the mentionned facts the hotel is all in all acceptable — for that price class. The hotel has got the perfect location.
