Well now, what a gem. The value doesn't rest so much in the physical accommodation — the few rooms are small and basic — but in the people who run the place, Antonio and Sonia.

. En-suite walking distance from the Villa, waterfall and varies path. Quiet, clean and friendly environment. Amazing breakfast, and kitchen full of equipment in case you want to cook.

A fabulous stay with lovely owners who took good care of us and helped us enjoy our stay even more.
The whole hotel is a work of art.

I recently stayed at a Tropicalia and it was absolutely fantastic. The owners provided top-notch service and the place was extremely clean and comfortable.

One of their strongest points is the location a few meters from the beach, in front a small supermarket and plenty of restaurants around.

This clean modern property is a 5 minute walk from the Bolhao subway station. To travel from /to the airport it's a direct line 30 minute trip.

This is a hotel located in Gaia that follows a standard similar to Ibis. The highlight is the hotel's own spacious parking lot; there were always vacancies.

Excellent value for money. The decor is even better in real life than the photos show. Classy everywhere. Such pretty and elegant rooms. The bed was 5-star quality and comfort.

We had a 4 day city break. First impressions when we arrived in the taxi was that we were at the wrong hotel as it was just a scruffy green door on a narrow street.

Great concept. Beware that the climbs on their wall are quite difficult and we are pretty good climbers. They have bouldering, auto belays and lead climbs that are higher than Mesa Rim in San Diego.

The location is spectacular. The view and property are lovely. The room is comfy and immaculate. The drive to our amazing dinner restaurant was easy.

Meliá São João da Madeira is a beautiful hotel, especially with the restored palace area, which is truly impressive. The staff throughout the hotel are very friendly and attentive.
