Upon arrival to my room, I discovered my bed to be soaking wet. I asked the receptionist about this, and apparently another guest peed in the bed several nights in a row. The room is shared with 4 bunk beds. Sometimes, other guests will use your own bed! I was moved to another bed. On the second night, a man checked out very early (6am). Upon waking up at 10am, I realised that someone had stolen my $2, 400 laptop from my bag! The receptionist seemed rather indifferent about a theft at the hotel. I called the police and filed a police report. There is CCTV footage of everyone who entered and left the hotel. I expect the suspect to be seized and prosecuted and for my belongings to be returned or compensated. I am very disappointed with the service I received here. I feel personally violated at the lack of security for belongings. There does indeed exist a room dedicated for locking away luggage, however, this is shared amongst ALL guests. This is hardly secure for valuable belongings. I expect compensation for this crime be either the hotel or the guest whom I shared a room with.

Very centrally located, however, above a fries bude and the stank of oil is not even to be endured after the store closes.
The entrance is very narrow with a little bigger suitcase you have to unpack before you go in because you don't take the suitcase through the entrance area and the very steep stairwell.
The reception is far too small that sprieses in front of ekel. A huge bowl full of open candies that stands very dusty next to the short counter of the reception.
If that's not enough deterrent, we'll come to the room.
If you want to freshen up briefly after the stressful approach, the big SCHRECK comes.
The bathroom is about 4 m2 in size and the toilet is practically in the shower it had no shower forecast and also no separation on the floor the water was in the whole bathroom. (Photo)
Each had only one towel to have not even hung on the Lavabo another for after the toilet aisle. Thank God, we ourselves still had clean towels which cannot be said of theirs.
In the room it had no closet our clothes we could not unpack. There were only 4 beds and nothing else in the room very small unfortunately no picture.
The windows you could open but it was for pushing up and hooked up obed. The one hook has come loose and fallen down with a huge bang 1m and almost would have slaayed my brother on his birthday.

Good clean rooms. Hotel is located near dam square for easy shopping and exploring.

When I booked the only available bed, I knew that I will be staying in eight-bed room. But that was just fine as all other people were polite. The problem is with bathroom where is no ventilation so the whole bathroom ceiling was filled with black mold. Disgusting! Hope they clean it up soon. There is a safe in the room for every person but many didn't work as batteries ran out. I don't think I would stay here again. Though, staff was polite and professional.

The room was fine as long as you dont mind sharing with mice. Staff were great though and tried to help with everything asked of them.

Good location close to the train station and the city center. The price is high but less than the other hotels. Clean bathroom, comfortable bed, 24-hour reception, good Wi-Fi and free deposit.

Very close to the heart of Amsterdam, Unite block of Madame Tussauds, purses image of body worlds, and close to the red light district, the bad thing is no elevator, but it is super comfortable!

Hotel with an excellent location, 5 minutes walk from Amsterdam Central Station, ideal for those who do not want to spend as much and does not have many claims.

They have an issue with bedbugs. Buuuut their location is amazing and prices are very affordable. Just… Bring a bug bomb?

Too expensive for what I paid. Way to small, dirty, etc for almost 100 dollars per night. One of the only differences between this and a cheap hostel was the price.

Very steep staircases, comfortable rooms, perfect location and good price.

Very small rooms and no elevators. Not clean and smelly. Very costly but in the heart of city. Most of city is on walk from here. Room rent is very high compared to facility.

Fine. Booked here because of the price and location. The rooms are little more than a bed and a shower. I'm not complaining, I expected no frills and I got it.

Good hotel very good location!

Clean affordable hostel located very conveniently close to Amsterdam Centraal station. Very good if you're stopping over for a night or 2. Better for solo travellers, ideally.

Awesome place. Private rooms have private bathrooms. Very clean. Staff is very friendly. Great location. Would definitely recommend to other backpackers.

The only good thing I can say about this place is that the location is excellent. It's within walking distance of the train station and easy access to the other areas. I will also add that the staff was very pleasant and always available. The bad: There's no air conditioning so at night it would be very hot. If you opened the windows there were people yelling in the streets so it's either sleep or comfort. Our bathroom flooded everytime someone took a shower. There's no lounge or common place to hang out with other travelers.

Centrally located, not even 100 meters from Dam square. Good bathroom with shower. Recommended for location.

A place that dirtier you can't full of mice and insects invisible in the beds dirty and bad smelling.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable.

Great location… Rude staff, we were stolen in the room, filthy, high prices view of the quality of the premises.

The only thing good is the location. Place is very small. Most of the building was under renovations. Anytime someone was walking on the floor above you or talking in the hallways it would be enough to wake you up from sleep. There were also giant laundry bags often located outside my room, on a main hallway. I wouldn't stay here again.

Small hotel without more placed in the heart of the city.
The only thing that was bugging me was the glass who chattered when there was a lot of wind while it was closed.

Amazingly enough after I had booked my credit card got hacked. Im not saying they had anything to do with it! Got to the "hotel" and promtly found another.

The only good thing about this hostel was its location. Other than that, the employees, the manager, the cleanliness was absolutely appalling. The beds were infested with bed bugs, my friend was bitten over 20 times (face, stomach, arms, legs, etc. ). We had to buy a new suitcase because the bugs made their way inside, wash and dry our clothes/backpacks to kill the bed bugs, and buy medicine for the bites (another €50 spent). The hotel refused to reimburse us for this miserable stay. After several conversations between us and the receptionist and her and manager they only remembursed my friend because she was the only one with "bites". They clearly don't understand that if the bed bugs are in one bed, they're in all of them. This was an awful hostel. Do not stay here!

They won't reimburse any cancellation, once you make a reservation you don't have a choice but to pay the whole balance.

Exhilarating experience, I recommend it to several young people, and who really want to have fun, or for everyone in all aspects. And also for those who love culture there is to have fun for the many museums that are there.

Do not trust this hotel* We got to the hotel to be told that they had cancelled our booking and given our room to someone else because the price we were quoted on hostelworld was wrong. They told me that an e-mail had been sent to inform me, I later found out that it was sent the evening before we flew out. They had taken it upon themselves to book us into a new hotel at a much higher price than we had agreed to pay at damrak. Asked for deposit back but tehy said its nothing to do with them.

Everything was good, good value for money, except: When I booked the hostel online, nothing clear was mentioned about "City Tax". When I received my email confirmation, I didn't initially mention this: "City tax included: No 5%" — is that clear that I will have to pay an additional 5% city tax when getting to the room? Because the booking confirmation, or the website, did not add the amount to the final total. Upon arrival I found I have to pay an extra 20 euros. I disputed this, and promised to write a bad review on the internet, so the nice staff member at least agreed to not charge me the bank transaction charge of about the same amount.

Overall, the value for money is good.
The hotel is very well placed, 5 minutes from the train station and we did all Amsterdam walk from the hotel.
We were 4: we had a room of 6 (3 bunk beds), with mini shower room + WC and nothing to lay the business in the SDS.
Side negatives: The girl from the reception is not warm for a penny and the smell of frying (trade just downstairs) unbearable by rising in the Hotel + no breakfast.
Positive side: The location and the very competitive price (20s euros at night. )

Very convenient location — 5 min from Central Station, 5 min from the Dam Square. Small but clean rooms. Worth its cost.
