Hotel Rokune

Horrible service — no one in the lobby and front desk, ever. So basically 0 service. Phone number also does not work, no one answers. So nobody can help if you have any questions or problems.
— No communication until 1 day before. Doesn’t send us the form that we’re “required” to fill out, and we had to message them to ask for it….
— Doesn’t help keep luggage before or after hours and doesn’t tell us this until the day before.

The location is not bad near the train station of Nara. The room is big (402) for the price we paid but not looking as good as other hotels we had in Japan. Here comes the problems… The booking system is very strange they don’t have staff on site and the email comes without the form they ask you to fill. On top of this you have to upload the pic of your passport on a random hotel application so they probably sell your data somewhere… amazing! And they send you this email that you have to fill after the payment is processed so if you decide de cancel because you want to protect you and your family data you still have to pay them full price and find an other hotel. So no service it look like a scam so far… never comeback here ever. Worst service we had anywhere. To avoid in my opinion.

The room had everything we needed. It was very close to the train and bus station, so easy to get around. The self check in process was easy and intuitive.

Very close to Nara JR station. Super clean, microwave, fridge, all kinds of other features, washing machine, hair dryer, you name it. Service worked fine. If you want to use Hands-free-travel, staff in the office nearby accept your suitcases.

Hotel Rokune was a great place to stay during our two-day trip to Nara. It was very helpful having a washing machine and a bit more space than the average Japanese hotel room to spread out our suitcases.
Highlights: 5m walk to Nara station, spacious, washing machine, microwave, clean, comfortable bed.
1 star off due to: shower temperature wasn’t hot enough for us, very few power sockets to charge devices (we had to unplug lamps and the kettle), not able to leave bags prior to check-in as the front desk is not staffed.
Overall would recommend staying here as it is a very reasonable price for what you get. We’d stay here again. Thanks hotel Rokune!

We are a family of 4 and loved our stay at Hotel Rokune! It was very close from Nara station, easy to access, all the amenities were fabulous, the beds were comfortable, they provide pijamas that we all loved wearing, it was very spacious for Japanese standards and beautifully presented. The washing machine had a drying function which was very helpful as we stayed only one night. Wish we would have stayed longer, so far this has been our favourite hotel (so far we’ve been to Tokyo, Kyoto and Mt. Fuji! )

Would definitely recommend staying here. Especially for a large group or family. Very luxurious hotel that is basically a very nice apartment. The check in process was a bit confusing (I was expecting an email the day before check in, but just needed to use the link on the followup email when it is time to check in). Close to the JR station and bus terminals can easily take you to the park. No baggage service, so you will have to leave them in a coin locker until the check in time.

A tourist farm. Recommend staying away.
Let people know before booking that there’s literally a single available power outlet, and that the kitchen is prohibited from use. For the price, this is unacceptable. Many other places that are cheaper and actually have better amenities.
When contacting the property about this issue, all I got was a low effort, uncaring response “Use an extension cord. ”
How about you pay for proper electrical?

Huge rooms! New and very clean, with own washing machine in room. Excellent location a short walk from the station. High tech-no reception desk or people, but rather everything done with keyless entry.

My family and I used it during an event at the 100th Anniversary Hall.
First of all, it's very spacious! I had a relaxing time. And the facilities were very complete. A sink, microwave, washing machine… very helpful for families with small children.
The bathroom was spacious and clean linens and pajamas were provided. Amenities were also good.
There are convenience stores and restaurants nearby, and there is no parking lot, but there is a cheap coin parking nearby in front of the station, so there is no inconvenience. The environment is convenient but very quiet.
It was a very nice hotel where you could feel the hospitality of the owner, with delicious coffee and water for everyone. I would like to use it again next year!

My three brothers and I stayed in two rooms for one night.
I was able to spend a relaxing time in a large room of 42 square meters, clean and modern equipment, comfortable linens, and a quiet environment.
It's a residential area, so you can't see the scenery outside the window, but if you're visiting for sightseeing or work, you'll be out during the day, so I don't think it will be a problem.
Even if you gather with friends and stay overnight, there is enough space that you can watch movies and drink alcohol all night without feeling cramped.

It was a quiet place near Nara Station.
Both the appearance and the room were clean and stylish.
The bed mat was also moderately hard, which was perfect for me as I am a big person.

The room was very clean and spacious, and was fully equipped with a microwave, washing machine, and bathroom dryer. Since it was summer, I was happy to be able to do laundry. The bathroom was not a unit bath, but rather spacious, like one for a regular household. I felt relaxed and at home. I would like to use it again.

I had a very pleasant time.
There were many coin parking lots around, and the prices were cheap.
It's a convenient location near JR Nara Station, with a supermarket, 24-hour drugstore, and restaurants, so it's recommended.
I would like to recommend it to anyone who needs it.

We are completely happy with this unmanned hotel. They think of every detail in the room.

Nice pad near bus n train station. Clean. Only glitch was light from staircase of next building all night.
