Stayed here from Sept 18-22 and was blown away by this amazingly beautiful building. Wonderful daily room service of fresh linen and towels and knowledgeable and helpful English speaking staff. The hotel is conveniently located near the San Giovanni Metro stop to reach main attractions including the Colosseum and The Vatican. Although the hotel only serves a buffet style continental breakfast (of which there is plenty to eat), there are many fantastic cafes and restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk. Definitely worth the price I paid — I would highly recommend a stay here!

The hotel rooms are very well furnished. Breakfast is very good. But Wi-Fi is not available in the rooms. The hotel persons are very cooperative.

Nice hotel. Loved being their. Its part of a church it self and well maintained with architecture. Only thing that I felt not okay for morning breakfast as no option of Asian breakfast but adjustable with British breakfast served.

A very unique experience to stay in a former monastery. Simple & basic accommodation with a good continental breakfast. A little disappointed that the rooms had no internet but a fast reliable service in communal areas.

The location is not bad and it is pretty. However, some of the rooms air conditioning doesn't work as well as the other rooms because of the vastly different ceiling heights in some rooms. Some rooms don't get Wi-Fi as well, but still a nice stay especially for large groups of people.

The hotel is located in part of the monastery at the Church of the Holy Cross of Jerusalem. I commend myself for the authenticity of the place and the responsiveness of the staff at the front desk. Clean, the furniture is old, but serviceable, the bathroom is large, quiet, which is important for a tired person determined to relax. Breakfasts are modest, but for Italy and 3 degrees are very good. It's funny that tours were taken to the church, and we could see every day. Nearby shops, pharmacies and a very cool restaurant, especially on fish days for dinner. Before the subway go through the park, that's also class! On the roof you can hang out and watch the city from above, but it was January and it didn't work out. We were lucky, we were special. Prices for such an unusual hotel, so there are only the best memories.

Beautiful setting and really spacious. The views are amazing. The rooms are basic, cheap and cheerful. Everywhere was very clean. Shutters were on the windows which meant rooms were quiet and dark at night.
Staff were polite and helpful.
The breakfast was continental and suited us perfectly.
Roof terrace is stunning. Would have been good to have a bar up there.
Not too far from the metro and a totally unique setting — a monastery.

Hotel in the middle of an old ambience. We thought it was very nice, others will find it terrible. The breakfast is typically Italian a bit spartan but quite ok. Unfortunately, breakfast in April was not yet available on the beautiful terrace, which was open but not farmed, but only in the breakfast room. In the late afternoon we took our own drinks with us to the terrace and enjoyed the view over Rome. The city centre is within easy walking distance. If you don't want to run, tram — and bus stops are more or less right outside the door. We would book here again.

The room was very nice and the breakfast was good.

Ideal for spending the night and breakfast, cheap prices and very close to everything. The place impresses if you are looking for something different. Very friendly staff. Very well connected by bus and tram. If you like to walk, there's no problem. It's like moving in time.

Breakfast is a little poor, but all in all it's a nice hotel, close to the Metro.

Very clean and cozy place. Rooms are big and spacious. Big windows offer nice view. 20 minutes walk from colosseum and also walkable to other popular attractions of Rome. Offer supplementary breakfast which is quiet good. Absolutely not expensive for what they deliver. I'd recommend.

The décor of the rooms is very clear and the breakfast also. However, it is clean and has a historical ambiance. Probably the restrained equipment is intentional.

Clean and reasonable rooms in a converted monastery. Orange grove in the garden. Brilliant building if a little difficult to navigate at first. Wifi in public areas only. Nice breakfast.

This hotel will remain my worst memory of Rome. I spent five nights there, my 8 year old daughter, my husband and I. We slept very badly. We felt the springs of the mattresses! Plus, one night we were in our room after a sightseeing day when someone tried to open the door to the room. We thought at the outset that it was someone who had the wrong room but not at all! My spouse went to the door and opening it 3 guys got away. We shouted but no one came out of his room. We called the reception. The girl who was there and came to see and went with my spouse to see if they found the 3 guys who did not enter or leave the reception. The girl did not understand by where they had been able to get in and out. She didn't know if the three men were still in the hotel! I went down with my daughter who was in tears at the reception and my spouse stayed in our room to keep our stuff. The girl from the reception called her manager before calling the police. I had to insist she call the police. Spent an hour, the police were still not at the hotel. I had to insist on the girl to remind the police that ended up coming an hour later! As the hotel is a former monastaire stuck to a church, it would seem that the guys were tucked into the hotel by the church. At least that's what the police told us we found on a camera in the church…
They changed us to room as the door to our room could no longer close.

Good value for money, good breakfast, hot room, unique neo thin walls, during the night hours you can hear the shower water of the adjoining room… Overall I recommend…

We spent wonderful 3 days in Rome. Very friendly staff. Impressive hotel in a convent. Rooms are kept simple but adequate. Extra blankets are also in the cupboards. The hotel is within walking distance of the Colosseum. S-Bahn line opposite the hotel. Very nice view from the rooftop terrace. The breakfast was good. The only drawback is the lack of parking spaces. At the next Rome stay I will book this hotel again.

We stayed here for 5 nights and we definitely enjoyed our stay thanks to absolutely fantastic location and unique genius loci (former monastery right next to St. Croce).
We slept very well thanks to silence, window shutters and good bed.
Personnel is very nice and always helpful. Last but not least there is wonderful terrace where you can sit and enjoy awesome panorama of the city including St. John in Lateran, St. Maria Maggiore and St. Peter's basilica. Totally recommended!

Located within the walls is this hotel which is part of a convent and church of the Santa Croce di Gerusalemme. The hotel has a more modern part and another within the older area, either is fine but for my taste is better the old, has more charm, otherwise the services are similar. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast is right. And the Price the truth Q oscillates a lot, although not too expensive.

The place is massive. Well organised. We've got air conditioning and a TV. For the price the continental breakfast is good. It's a 40min walk to the centre of Rome. Can't fault it.

The location and the staff.

Hotel is basic but nice. Room is clean and bright and thanks to the thick walls stays relatively cool but is also equipped with air conditioning. Could do with a little more storage for clothes or some more hangers but otherwise fine. Rooms also have TV and hairdryer in working condition. Small fridge is cool but could do with being replaced/repaired because I wouldn't say it was adequately cold. On arrival we were early and couldn't check in but staff kindly took our luggage in so we could go out until our room was ready. On our return were given instructions on how to find our room and work the key/keycard but these could have been clearer and our keycard was broken however a very helpful member of staff cleaning the next room helped us, explaining how it worked and lending us her card until we could have reception fix ours, which they did very quickly. Breakfast is a very basic continental selection but nice and as expected. Location-wise the hotel is very near a metro station (A line) and a tram. There are some small shops and restaurants within easy walking distance but it is not a hugely touristy area, restaurants appear to be more used by locals and so seem to open a bit later than in the more tourist orientated locations. There is a nice park just down the road which seems popular with joggers and dog walkers and also has various play equipment for children.

Domus Sessoriana is a very special place to me and to my sister. It is the one and only hotel in the world that I truly love. I even can't call it 'hotel', it's like home sweet home for us. Rome is a place where time disappears, melts in the city. It is a place where the epochs are twisted and mixed together. Especially at night, when it is so dark and charming. You can suddenly find yourself in the times of Cesare Borgia with a sweet troubadour singing 'Scaramella va alla guerra'…
And then you'll reach Domus Sessoriana, which is so beautiful and peaceful, and you'll sit on the steps, looking at stars or stone-pines' silhouettes in the dark. And only cicadas songs will accompany your night.
Then be sure to come inside the round hall for a second (which is with columns and in front of the church's entrance. ) Shhh! Be quiet. Don't spoil the moment. Look up, up, up. Do a small walk. Hear the sound of your own steps…
Now, return to the reception desk. Look. There are frescoes here. You can still feel that those past times are here, with you.
Kind and great staff will give you a warm welcome. It is night, so probably Dennis or VIncenzo is on his duty. Buonasera!
Make your way to the room the longest, since that's how you'll drown in the atmosphere of this amazing building. That's how you'll touch the history, feel it with your toes. Through the long hall, upstairs, up, up. Even if your room is on the ground floor. Even though there is an elevator.

Loved my stay. Great historical building rooms are basic but clean and a great base for sight seeing. Plenty for breakfast and the view from the roof terrace where you have breakfast is beautiful. Staff were very nice & helpful. I give it 4 stars only because we did have a problem with no hot water which the staff did try their best to resolve but I understand with an old building sometimes things can't be sorted as quick as you'd like. In any case after long hot sweaty days sight seeing maybe a cold shower wasn't a bad idea. I would definitely stay again.

Very unusual space. The location bolted onto the side of the basilica is incredible and gives you great views from the rooftop terrace. Is missing an evening meal option and bar though. Otherwise the accommodation is fair, spacious, reasonably priced and clean. Easy access to metro and 1

It was a very nice hotel. Ideal for meetings with a suggestive location, a view of crazy Rome and carved out of an old monastery. The Metro is a 10-15-minute walk away and this is the only flaw.

It was clean and very beautiful. The hotel is a part of the large basilica so it was difficult to find at first. There were great places to eat nearby and a 24 hour bar across the street. Breakfast was served on the rooftop terrace and was absolutely beautiful.

The building itself is beautiful and the location is great with easy access to all modes of transport. The room and bathroom were an adequate size and the staff were very friendly. The breakfast area was lovely, however there should be more food options to suit all dietary requirements, e. G dairy free or gluten free.

Surprising, friendly, competent staff and close to customers! And a hotel structure that has taken over the architectural elements of welcoming ecclesiastics with happiness! Go ahead!

If you want a great place to stay in Rome, I highly recommend Domus Sessoriana! It is located great, wonderful rooftop for breakfast in the morning and wine when you return from a long day (with amazing views of St John Lateran), and amazing history tying back to Constantinople's mother; Helena. We've stayed there twice over four years for a total of 7 days — will stay again whenever we return to Rome!

For three star clean and reasonably priced breakfast could be better.

Rooms very old — not a comfort room — minibar absent. Bathroom — if broken, then broken — storage — Towel Bar wrong and lacked crooked. Stuck in the elevator. Electric doors work well only if the desire had. Vending machines before the elevator broken. Breakfast was the worst thing I had experienced in my travels so far. Cereal — cereal — coffee from a vending machine (at least the work), cold cuts — a then two varieties of cheese. Location OK: the Coliseum with child in 20-25 minutes walk distance. Staff nice. But bottom line: never again!

Good hotel with clean and enough big rooms. The service is really nice, help 24/7 and daily cleaning. Prices more than fair. Breakfast is OK, even this small breads in my opinion really senseless (5 pieces may be 1 bun), but the great view from roof will compensate this. One star less because bad structure of SOME bath rooms (toilet less space, because close to washbasin) and the really bad WLAN. There only 2 Accespoints and even without a lot usage extremely slow. (no WLAN on rooms)

Located in a basilica hotel is located outside the tourist area, an area with a lack of lighting at night, although the three days we were there always had a car of police at the door. As the hotel is normal for the price they ask. No Wi-Fi in the room, only in the reception and the walls of separation between rooms are smoking paper. You hear everything as if you were inside. But if you're visiting Rome and only go to dormir is an ideal place.

I loved the building, one pass! A 9-minute metro or bus to walk, very well. Negative: The area may not be very good, some people walk, loitering in the park next to the hotel. And the breakfast is a birria of the great! The bed, incomodisima, I had to fit the mattress with some blankets!

Great atmosphere in the entire Hotel, ideally suitable for a Rome trip. The Hotel is super air conditioned, adequate room facilities and very good value for money, nice staff. The cleanliness in room and bathroom were good. The hotel terrace offers a very nice view over part of Rome and Breakfast is also offered. The W-Lan connection, you could use free of charge and was also very good connection Directly before the Hotel there is a tram stop, to the next U-Bahn is only about 10 minutes. For a city break is this Hotel very suitable. The ride from/to the airport Fiumicino take a Taxi (48 € fixed price until 22.00), or the perfect limousine Service organised by the Hotel (only 47 €) depending on traffic, about 25 to 40 minutes. Overall is this Hotel absolutely recommendable!

Very friendly and helpful staff! Our problems with laudry and tickects to the Vatican Museum were solved by the English-speaking receptionists! Even though breakfast stays pretty much the same every day, there is a variety of food choice! Room service is also great! There is nothing better than a nice, clean room after a long day of exploring! Only about 10 minutes walk to the MRT station which takes you to all the major sites! The hotel itself is a site — being a converted church. It's located in a charming traditional Roman community. Highly recommended!

The place is nice, but only just. Our room which was disgusting, totally not comfortable. Shower was leaking, the sink smelled of rotten, towels only changed on day 3 after complaints, the bed was not changed once in 8 days. Dinner is not justified expensive, Breakfast monotonous.

If you're expecting gourmet Italian food you will be sorely disappointed. The food is repeated every other day, So if you come for more than 3 days your half board food will be repeated. Also dont go via the menu board as you will not get what's on the menu for that day. Also the happy hour bar is never open unless you play hunt the barman game. As they are no where to be found. The hotel is pleasant and close enough to walk to most of the main attractions. The staff are friendly and pleasant enough. If I had to return to rome again l would try different hotel. Stayed for one week 28th November 2014.

Friendly staff and great proximity to explore the rest of Rome. Only a 20 minute walk to the Colosseum. Also San Giovanni and Termini train stations are within 10 minutes walking distance. A good selection of local restaurants if you want to stay close to the hotel and a local supermarket just across the road. I barely used the metro because I enjoy walking and could get to most of the historical attractions in a short period of time. Also a lovely setting in a archaeological complex. The church on site is used regularly for weddings which was a nice touch. Also if you book early it's one of the cheaper places to stay and represents good value for money. The 60 rooms on site are basic by European standards which is reflected in the price. It offers a safe secure base for you to go out during the day and get a good nights sleep. The security safe inside the room could have been larger and many bigger laptops might struggle to fit in it. I was staying in a double room which consists of two single beds next to each other. I found this hotel on Expedia and would recommend it. Defiantly a unique experience to stay in such a historical building which is more exciting than other options in this price category. I would have given it 5 stars however the breakfast buffet wasn't particularly good. The Kitchen staff seemed to be watching us all the time to ensure we wouldn't take any food which I found uncomfortable.

Great experience, staff willing to help you always, great terrace, bus at the door, even if you are in a little walk in the Coliseum, San Juan de Letran is one step and is a quiet area.
