Reviews of Hotel Montana Malang
Check in was smooth. Arrived early and although they didn't let us check in immediately they did let us leave our bags so we could walk around. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Room was a bit cramped. Bed was pushed up against the wall preventing the window curtains from being adjusted freely. Could smell lingering cigarette smoke (room 219). Bathroom had a tub with shower combination. Supposed hot water is available from 4am-10am and 4pm-10pm. I never was able to get hot let alone warm water. Overall not worth the price.
I recently had a short trip to Malang and stayed at Tuwuh Hotel, which is conveniently located around Tugu. Upon check-in, I was pleasantly surprised by a free upgrade to a deluxe room, thanks to the receptionist, Lidya, who was incredibly helpful and welcoming.
The room was clean and well-maintained, although the size was a bit compact. I also requested an extra bed, and the staff was quick and efficient in setting it up. One thing to note is that the hot water is only available during specific hours: 4:00 AM — 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM — 10:00 PM, so if you prefer showering outside these times, you may need to plan accordingly.
Despite the limited parking space, the staff went above and beyond to assist with parking, making the process smooth and hassle-free.
Overall, I had a comfortable stay with great service from the hotel staff. If you’re looking for a well-located and clean place to stay in Malang with friendly service, Tuwuh Hotel is definitely worth considering!

The hotel is alright for a short stay and if you are planning to be most of the time outside as we have done. Some extra cleaning would be great for spider bets in corners or under the window seating area, which actually could be changed. Bathroom is plus minus ok, but for 3 nights we had HOT WATER only once after the technician was called in. Hotel indicates what hours hot water is available but even then we had to take cold showers.
There is NO POOL at the facility — a photo on Google has been uploaded and never taken down.
On the positive side bed, bedsheets and towels are very clean and new, so you can sleep comfortably. Staff at the hotel are very nice and helpful. Thank you for borrowing us an umbrella for 3 evenings when it was raining.
