RedDoorz near Balai Kota Malang

It’s an old building with a character but honestly for the price, it’s fine. The location is prime close to a train station and easy walk anywhere in the centre.
The room itself doesn’t look at all like the pictures on booking. Com so it feels little bit like a scam but it’s definitely an interesting place to visit. It would definitely use some deep clean and reconstruction. Maybe getting new bed sheets as ours were quite stained. There were some strange features in our room as well like a door going to other room that can’t be closed or a main light switch behind a closet that it’s hard to reach. And a lot of random furniture that doesn’t make sense.
Hot water and AC was working fine and the staff was really nice and helpful. Wi-Fi is really fast and works perfectly. There is a bar in the building selling coffee, beer and other drinks. The whole hotel is so big and there is a lot of spaces to chill or work.
But overall it’s one of the accommodations you’ve never forget!

I really like this place, is an old Dutch building from colonial period, definitely need to be renovated, specially the bathroom, but I love it.
Seems like grandma house, huge living room if you like to chill there, very big room, very tall roof, cheap price.
The staff was also very nice and friendly.

I was in hurry while booking this hotel and hadn’t realised that I paid 4x more than for other accommodations of this level in Java. The actual name of this place is Splendid Inn. Maybe it was splendid 50 years ago but nothing has changed there since. The room was just scary with dirty walls, a hole in the bathtub and destroyed tiles. The pictures on Google show the actual state of the place, unfortunately I booked with Agoda where the pictures look nicer.

I loved this place. It was once a grand home, now its a character filled cheap guesthouse in central Malang next to the grand Tugu & 5 min from train station.
