Doeloerkoe Homestay

The staff at Doeloerku took care of me like I was family. They supported me while I was working on a creative project with local musicians, made me healing herbal teas when my asthma laid me low, and even held an impromptu birthday party for me. The prices are great, the rooms very clean, there's abundant hot water and good pressure in the shower, mosquito nets over the ventilation holes in the walls, the AC is in good condition and runs quietly. There's a central area for eating and socialising and friends of guests are welcomed in like family. Location is close to the Kraton (palace) and the famous batik bazaar, Pasar Klewer.

I had a delightful stay and will return when I am next in Solo. The host was very friendly, helpful and considerate (and speaks English fluently and easily). The staff were all very warm and caring — and I never felt intruded upon. I felt very welcome! Breakfast was delicious my vegetarian diet was catered for without problem.
The room was large with a shuttered window opening on to the garden, and was very clean and cool, and had a substantial bathroom.
The homestay is very close to many sites and an Alun Alun with great food. The street is quiet at night.
I recommend 100%!

All the people who work at this guest house are unbelievably kind. I fell ill during my stay and had to extend my stay in Solo for a few days. They treated my very well with a lot of special attentions to help me recover. Also, if you want to treat yourself to a massage, ask for Dwi’s, she’s the best! Ask for Wahyu for local tips and visits, he’s a great guide and also very kind and generous. Thanks Rifat for all your help and recommendations!

The common area is furnished with antique-style furniture, creating a very calm and relaxing atmosphere. The breakfast was simple but very delicious. I was warmly assisted by DWI, a lovely female staff member.

I stayed at this wonderful guesthouse for five nights. I do not want to leave. Rifat and his staff were truly like family. It feels like I have made life long friends. I received more ice tea than I could drink and snacks galore. Everyone was very generous with their time and resources. They taught me about generosity and appreciation.
Rifat organizes trips inside the city and also to the temples. Very fair prices.
The rooms are clean and the AC works quietly. Bed was comfortable.
When in Solo, stay here! I’ll be back!

How we, from all over the world, sit around a table in their semi outdoor dinning room, how we were chatting telling each other our trips story, how we ate our breakfast and dinner together. What a wonderful time we had. When I was there, we were from Canada, Hungary, Australia, Spain, Indonesia.

Beautiful homestay with the most welcoming hosts! Sadly we only had one night here, but wish we could have stayed longer.
The family have a wealth of knowledge of the area, and really helped us make the most of our short trip, with brilliant recommendations and even taking us to see the mosque. They even packed a snack for our long train journey. It was really a home away from home!

The Doeloerkoe Homestay was one of the best places we stayed during our backpacking trip through Indonesia. The hotel is beautiful, with spacious and clean rooms. But what truly makes it special are the people. Everyone welcomes you like family, and they organize amazing tours while sharing incredible knowledge about the area.
Solo turned out to be one of the most interesting stops in Java, thanks especially to the hospitality of Rafit and his team. Amazing place to stay in solo!
The place : This homestay is set in a beautiful traditional Javanese house, with high ceilings and decorated with taste. There is here a sense of both refinement and simplicity. The rooms (with private bathrooms) are distributed by an inner garden with a covered space where you can eat and chill out. Upper spaces are private. Rooms themselves are quiet and fresh, with a window on the inner garden. Bathrooms could be upgraded but they are clean and practical. It is really one of the best (if not the best) places we stayed at in Java so far.
The hosts : The members of the staff are very friendly and will answer your questions and your requests with kindness and professionalism. You want to arrange for a driver to see the temples around? Or to rent a scooter for the day? Easy. Ask Rifat. His suggestions were always very helpful, and we loved to exchange with him about his many lives.
Location : right at the center of the city, at walking distance from everything. The house has a little court on the street where you can park scooters or cycles. There might even be some space for a car (this you should see with the host). Street food in the neighborhood is awesome, and there are also restaurants around.
Little plus : yummy breakfast! And when back from a long day of visits, ask for some ice tea. Delicious and refreshing.

I absolutely loved my stay here! The room was beautiful, the team was super kind and caring, and the breakfast was really good. I felt right at home, such warm and welcoming people. The location is great too. I honestly couldn’t recommend it more, and I’ll definitely be coming back!

I stayed at DoeloerKoe Homestay for four days and had an incredible experience. It was by far the warmest welcome I’ve received since the beginning of my long trip through Asia.
As a solo traveler, I truly appreciate when I come across kind and genuine people—but this went far beyond that. Rifat, Wahyu, and the entire team made me feel like a part of their family. I will never forget that morning we shared together.
The city of Solo itself is full of history and charm. Wahyu also offers great local tours by scooter or bike, taking you to visit various traditional workshops and artisan factories in the surrounding area. It’s an experience I can only recommend.

Excellent location! You can easily explore the Royal Palace (Keraton) complex, Alun-Alun, and Klewer Market by foot. I truly recommend doing that instead of hiring Becak (Tricycle Cart). There's also a lot of street food vendors in the evening so make sure you try one. Be careful when crossing the road though.
The staff is super friendly and accommodating, the room is clean and it's super chill at night. The bed is comfy, with the linen and blanket in quite clean condition. Towels are provided but it's super thin and dull.
I just wish they would install a sink in the bathroom as it's quite awkward to use the shower to wash my face or brush my teeth. The water heater wasn't working when I was there but the staff can provide it for you (they had to boil it manually first so tell them in advance before you take a hot shower). The TV is small but works fine. My favorite is Room 2 as it has the biggest size and 1 extra bed so it can accommodate 3 people.

Great hospitality, nice staffs, clean place, best location. It's located nearby alun-alun and Jalan Slamet Riyadi.
Kinda affordable rate for high season, this homestay is beyond my expectation. Its staffs were very helpful, friendly and nice. The room was clean, but at room number 6, its water-heater was broken. The staff help me to provided warm water to bath. The AC was quiet cold but that was okay.
This homestay good for family staycation also.

We stayed only two nights. The place is wonderful, out of the chaos of the streets, with a beautiful garden. The room was clean, the only problem was the humidity in the bedroom (maybe putting mosquito nets at the window could allow more ventilation). The breakfast was super good and Rifat was always ready to offer a cup of tea/coffee. Moreover, Rifat helped us to find a shuttle for Semarang and directly drove me with his scooter to buy the tickets! We loved the place and the way people helped us for everything.

Best place to stay in Solo!
We stayed in Doeloerkoe last year in december and couldn't been happier with our choice of accommodation. The rooms are spacious, clean and cozy. The accommodation is beautiful, with a courtyard garden where you can enjoy the afternoon or relax. The owner and team are amazing, very kind. They helped us arranging our activities and trips in Solo and offer many ideas & suggestions making our stay in Solo unforgettable. The breakfast is very nice as well and it was just a delight staying here. Thank you very much for the good care & we will be back!
