Stayed here for one night. Location is good. The room looks okay at first, but overall it’s quite worn out. Not really dirty, just not well maintained. You can see signs of age like stains, slightly dirty windows and some worn furniture.
The biggest issue was the morning. Around 6 AM kids were screaming and running right outside the door. The walls are very thin, so it felt like everything was happening inside the room. It was impossible to sleep, and no one from staff did anything.
Food at breakfastis average, mostly Indonesian dishes, which is fine but there isn’t much variety. I also noticed small gnats around the food, and the strawberries on one of the desserts didn’t look fresh. Some pastries are okayish.
Staff didn’t really react to any of this. Also felt a bit uncomfortable at breakfast because of the constant staring.
It’s fine for a short stay, but I wouldn’t come back.
If you’re looking for a hotel that perfectly captures the spirit of “expect nothing & still be disappointed, ” KHAS Semarang is your place.
Staying in the middle of Semarang, you’d assume a basic 3-star hotel could at least provide running water. Apparently, that’s asking for the moon. The bathroom tap might as well be decorative — no water, no explanation, just vibes.
The front desk? They’ve mastered the art of doing nothing with confidence. No timeline, no solution, no initiative to move me to another room — just a blank look that says, “Good luck, sir. ”
For a hotel that markets itself as “comfortable, ” the only thing comfortable here is their ability to ignore guests. Truly impressive.

I enjoyed staying in this hotel due to its location and close proximity to shops, food options, own laundry services, and not too far from landmarks (train stations, tugu muda, simpang lima, kota lama). The prices (except the food) are reasonable. Just adjust your expectation that this is not luxury accommodation. That said it isnt a budget one either. One downside was that the room doesnt have a proper chair to sit, just a stool like to sit on. So, you cant really work comfortably from the desk in your room. You can certainly go downstairs to work. Also, important to mention, the pool is clean and not big enough for adults to do lap swims. It is more like for hanging out pool.
