Shankara Borobudur

The location is great, quite close to Borobudur Temple, lots of food options nearby (Semolina Pizza was delicious). The staff were nice and helpful. The room provided everything we needed for our short stay: clean and cool room, comfortable bed and pillow, clean bathroom and toilet. The villa we booked was right next to the.
Swimming pool, which was very convenient. The pool was fantastic, very good size that allowed for serious lap swimming, not just for having fun. Breakfast was decent, the omelette was very good.
It can be a bit noisy at night due to its roadside location, and sound from people at the pool can be.
Heard from the villa. But by sleeptime it was quiet enough so we slept well. On our first afternoon the hot water didn't work, so I had to have a cold shower. After calling the front desk, the staff said the gas.
For the heater was out so they went to fix that. Fortunately, afterwards the hot water worked.
Overall we were happy with our stay and will definitely stay here again if we come to Magelang.

Had a blast staying at Shankara. This time I stayed for a cycling event in Borobudur. Been there multiple times since 8 years ago, the quality of service & cleanness are just equally good. For an aging building, everything is well maintained, including the pool. Location is also top notch, at the main road leading to Borobudur temple.
There are still rooms for improvement like inconsistent shower temperature and creaking doors. But they are not a great issue.
Also, there were nobody at the front door welcoming guests and security guard present. That can also be improved.

The staff here are incredibly friendly, which made us feel very welcome. The pool is veeeery big and beautifully lit up in the evenings. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.
One thing that’s useful to know: the entrance to Borobudur has recently been moved to the northeast side of the site. We ended up walking about 35 minutes to get there. If it’s a hot day, it might be a good idea to order a Grab to save the walk.

We really loved the location of this hotel—it’s super close to borobudur temple but also next to some fields and local neighborhoods. It is a good mix of rural and city vibes. We loved the pool as it was very clean and a good size. The plants and flowers are well taken care of and are super beautiful. The outside areas of the hotel are soo peaceful. We loved waking up early and enjoying the nature. The staff are really kind and helpful and go out of their way to make your stay as amazing as possible. We loved the free breakfast. We got an incredible massage in our room for a great price. The first massage was so great that we scheduled another one right after the first was done. Highly recommend for a peaceful stay near lots of action in Borobudur.

Nice hotel. Too bad the towels smells. Tje location is near the candi borobudur. The breakfast is very limited choice.

A well developed hotel complex which provides you clean and well furnished rooms, sumptuous breakfast other meals and all this with a smile.
Staff is a Happy lot ever ready to help.
Has a good support system for car hire, airport pick up and drop.

Best hotel of the 4 I stayed at in Indonesia. Relatively clean, washrooms outside which helped with the water smell. Water pressure could have been better. Pool was fantastic as was free breakfast and reasonably priced lunch. Would def stay here again.

At a glance the appearance of this hotel was a little bit gloomy and mysterious, but surprisingly it had a clean and warm swimming pool with its clear blue water and the room — I stayed in a family room which can accommodate 4 persons — was spacious and pretty comfortable, but too bad they did not provide an extra bed, while the price of the room was too high for such a 3-star hotel. Despite its location that was on the main street, the atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. The staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast was generous and not bad.
