Janur Bungalow

A beautiful place. The outside is really nice and well-kept, a beautiful swimming pool. The room was a bit small but still nice. You are in the middle of nature so you will hear a lot of animal noises at night. And the bathroom is semi-open, maybe you will discover the magic of taking a shower together with a little frog, as I did. Bobby, the owner, was very nice and gave us a very warm welcome. Perfect place to then see the temple of boroboudur.

Bobby the owner is a legend. Real nice guy and goes the extra mile for you. Definitely value for dollar here.

Janur Bungalow is a hidden gem in Magelang. I have stayed here twice, once before the renovation. Surrounded by rice fields, the bungalow offers a peaceful atmosphere with cool, fresh air. On clear days, the view of the mountains is breathtaking.
The owner is warm, friendly, and has a great sense of humor. With only a few bungalows available, privacy is well maintained. The rooms are generally clean, though lizard droppings can sometimes be found in the corners. The bed is soft and comes with a mosquito net, but since it’s made of wood, even small movements can cause it to creak.
Because of its location near the rice fields, insects are common. However, the owner provides mosquito repellent lotion and electric repellents to ensure guests’ comfort. The bathroom and toilet are spotless, with hot water available for showers.
One of the highlights was the floating breakfast, which my child absolutely loved. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, making our stay even more enjoyable. This experience has left a lasting impression, and I would love to come back again.

It's my first time visiting borobudur area and stay the night for leisure, before just for work.
Janur Bungalow comes as my first choice, since I love the see how unique the room with colorful decor and unique quirky atmosphere, turn out the stay is beyond my expectation!
Need to be noted that the room made from aged joglo (traditional javanese home), so it's not pristine, but that was the charm. But if it were preloved bag, it's in a very pristine condition. All area of the villa is very well maintained, water works very well, and the location and ambience is super! If you want tranquil slow and nice stay, here is the place.
They have paddy field, menoreh hills, merapi mountain, and can see the Borobudur temple itself from afar.
Tho magelang is not a cold area, the wind breeze while seating at villa's porch soo cool and tranquil, away from city sounds, more of nature and winds whispers.
The best thing about this villa is their garden, well maintained with lotss of flowers, the variety also nice, like various orchid, bougainvillea, hibiscus, roses, etc…
Tho the pool is not big, it is nice with fresh water (I didn't smell chlorine and didn't feel it in my hair). And the sunset vie (when the sky is clear) is magical…
Breakfast is simple yet superb! you can choose either fried rice, omelets, or waffles, accompanied with either tea or coffee, plus freshly squeezed lime. They decorated the breakfast that leave me speechless on how top is their services.

Had a really perfect stay at Janur Bungalow! Every details was perfect. Pak Bobby, the owner, and all the staffs were really nice and helpful. Will definitely come back! 💗

Amazing place to stay! Rooms and service are perfect! It's a little bit remote, so renting motorbikes is recommended. With that you are only 10mins away from Borobudur temple.

PROS: Janur is beautiful and cozy property with just 6 bungalows. The exterior is nicely decorated and very well kept. The bungalows are beautiful but simple. The decoration of the room and the outside bathroom is minimalist but nice and practical. In the room you have air conditioned and a daily complimentary bottle of water, as well as bath towel.
The breakfast is served in the exterior area just next to the pool. The food is homemade and very good.
For us the property was very well located because it was just 7 minutes by car from Borobudur but if you want to go by foot to restaurants or other places is not possible because you just can reach the places in a motor vehicle. Taxi, grab, transfer, etc.
POSSIBLE CONS: The bungalows are all made of wood, so they have several cracks. Through these cracks can enter small animals. During my stay some geckos entered in the room and for whom has some phobia or afraid of this kind of animals can be complicated.
The bed is protected by a mosquito net but despite of that you can listen to the sound of them when they are in the room.
The bathroom is in the exterior of the room and the roof is open so it can happen the same.
Also, there is no soundproofing in the rooms. You can listen to all the sounds of the other bungalows and from the outside.
The property is close to a road that has to much traffic and at night combining this noise with the sound of the prayers in the mosque it can be difficult to sleep.

Easily one of the most beautiful, aesthetically pleasing places I’ve ever seen. Amazing rooms, comfy bed, incredible bathroom. The staff was incredibly helpful in accommodating us and even packed us a to-go breakfast because we had to leave early the following morning.

A beautifully appointed and located guesthouse in a quiet location not far from Borabadur. The accommodation is very comfortable and stylish with excellent facilities and lovely touches. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful and an excellent breakfast is provided in a small pavilion overlooking the pool and the paddy fields. Would love to have stayed longer. Highly recommended.

Super cute property with comfortable rooms/amenities and beautiful scenery around. Breakfast was delicious and owner was very helpful in organizing transfers and suggesting activities. Totally recommend.

The location is idilic to visit Borobudur temple, the facilities are clean, the decoration is beautiful and the breakfast healthy and yummy. We had a problem with our room and the owner didn’t hesitate to upgrade us to another one superior, as it was free. The toilet is also very nice and clean, with gel and shampoo. The swimming pool is small but the ambience is so quiet and peaceful that you couldn’t avoid taking a swim upon arrival. The mattress of the room we slept in could be renovated. However, I totally recommend.
