I have stayed at the Swiss Hotel many times, the breakfast is phenomenal and the rooms are well appointed, modern, and quiet. It is so much better than any chain hotel — how many hotels in Ottawa can claim to have a patio?

A delightful little corner of Switzerland to relax after a day of hard work. Owner operated, so very personal, interested and friendly staff. Very clean and cozy. Very convenient central location.

This hotel is quaint and comfortable and is close to the convention centre. The room was small but extremely comfortable. The breakfast was exceptional, and served by the owner of 30 years. I felt welcome there.

Clean rooms and establishment, very warm and friendly service and cool styling to the rooms. Lovely breakfast option. But… the rooms are very small and there is no elevator.

Our stay at the Swiss Hotel was lovely. Sabina made us feel at home. And the location is great, just a short walk to Parliament Hill, Rideau Centre and Byward Market. The room was very clean, delicious breakfast and oh I loved the Coffee! Would recommend, very cozy and homey feel.

We found Swiss Hotel to be a sweet place to stay in Ottawa. Very clean, comfy bed, functional space describes the room and the bathroom the same. If you like a lot of space ask what is available to that end. We appreciated the economy of space. Loved the red subway tiled shower. Nespresso in the room and a kettle for other hot beverage choices. The additional Swiss Breakfast is one of the finest spreads of food you can find! An excellent buy at 15$ each; be sure to partake. Expertly and professionally operated business. Brava!

The 3-11 reception staff was great and very helpful and the room was clean and comfortable but that's about where my compliments end. The room was so much smaller than I was lead to believe from the pictures off their website. The TV glitches in and out, and all night all I could hear was sirens and homeless people fighting and yelling on the streets due to its close proximity to the mission. The woman who "greeted" us in the morning for breakfast was cold and barked at us demanding what room we were in making us feel like she thought we'd come off the streets and was crashing breakfast. She was not polite and had a particular way of making us feel like we were a burden and not guests. I paid a total of 250$ which I could have paid at nearly any hotel that included parking kind staff complimentary breakfast and a pool or games room. I feel like the price was nowhere suited for the experience. I'm very disappointed.

This hotel is not a typical North-American Hotel, but rather an old home well kept with heterogeneous rooms. That being said, it is nice, cozy, friendly, very generous and sound and thermal isolation is adequate. However, parkings slots are limited and breakfast is not included, and must be ordered early the day before.

Bring some one strong because you are going to need to carry everything up the stairs. No elevator here. Very nice place.

I have stayed in alot of hotels through out Canada, but the Swiss hotel really made me feel like I was at home. My room was very clean and cozy. The Staff was great and friendly, The Swiss decor is second to none. With all the amenities of a big name hotel but with the comfort of being at home. I highly recommend The Swiss Hotel to anyone visiting downtown which is a walking distance of all the great attractions.

I stayed in an offsite condo owned by the Swiss Hotel. At check in, the main hotel was small but charming and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room itself was well decorated and very clean. The bathroom had all amenities including a hair dryer and selection of a few shampoo and conditioner bottles, and robes. The only complaint I had is that the room itself was very warm, and despite turning on the air conditioning and turning down the temperature I had to leave the window open at night to cool things down. This, however, is probably an issue with the condo heating and cooling as opposed to the Swiss Hotel. The location was also convenient, being within walking distance of an LCBO and 24 hour grocery.

Unique little family owned hotel. Very clean rooms, super friendly staff, convenient location. We stayed in the 210 sq. Ft. Superior room with fireplace place. It was a perfect size with appealing modern decor. The fireplace came in handy during the surprising cold March weather. There is also an iPad in every room. We will definitely book this hotel again for any future visits to Ottawa.

From its stately stone structure to its quaint position on the street, Swiss Hotel stands out as something special. The owner was gracious with greetings and set the tone for a friendly stay. Well appointed boutique rooms mix heritage charm with modern appointments. A must stay for anyone seeking an experience that is unique to Ottawa.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Swiss Hotel over a weekend and we were thoroughly impressed with the place. From the initial price which was reasonable and comparable to larger more well known hotels, to the friendly service from the staff. The location is a short walk from many attractions, which was perfect because parking there is limited and I didn't have to use my car from the time I parked it when we arrived to when we checked out. The room we stayed in was fantastic, it felt more like a home than a hotel, with a comfortable bed, amazing bathroom, and an I-Pad. They offer a breakfast that you reserve the night before, it was alright. It was mainly slices of meats, cheeses, breads, cereals and fruits, and eggs. The eating area is quaint and welcoming. But for a comparable price, walking to a nearby restaurant may be a better choice for more options. We definitely plan to stay at the Swiss for any future trips to Ottawa.

Great and personable staff. Rooms were a little small but very well designed. The location is great located minutes from the byword, parliament and byward market.

Given where they are located, parking was bound to suck. My husband and I did several laps through through the neighbourhood until we found something suitable. Beware Ottawa's one-way streets and endless cyclists; we were pretty high-strung once we found a spot! We stayed in the jacuzzi suite, and it was really lovely. The tub was nice and big and surrounded by great decor. The basin was pretty deep, and the jets strong enough. I prefer more soaking depth and stronger jets, but ultimately I can't complain. The dimmers on the lights were excellent to set the mood to relaxation, and they offered a couple tealights to help! The highlight of the room, however, really is the bed. Not only in it a gorgeous four-poster canopy frame, but hidden under the comfy duvet is a Temper-Pedic mattress that you will melt into! I don't know that we could sleep so soundly in a hotel! The Swiss Hotel really is a charming place to stay, but you cannot fairly compare it to big chain hotels. They are a totally different breed, and offer a much different experience. If you're high maintenance and expect room service and the like, this is not the place for you. However, if you're more low maintenance and value character and a unique experience, I highly recommend Swiss Hotel!

My wife and I had a wonderful stay with the staff at the Swiss Hotel. I recommend this place to anyone who doesn't mind walking up a few flights of stairs. Great exercise. The staff are just great and the rooms are comfortable. A short walk and we were in the Market that has every type of food you can think of. Walked by 1 Nicolas St. Where we were married 31 years ago.

Perfect spot for a romantic getaway and home base from which to enjoy Ottawa, especially the Byward Market. Owner takes tremendous care of this boutique hotel and its guests. Worth purchasing the optional breakfast (fresh croissants and when we were there she had homemade plum jam made from plums in her garden! ).

I've stayed in various hotels from coast to coast and wish they all were as amazing as this one. Very beautiful rooms, beds that you never want to get out of and an owner who makes you feel like family. Was a last minute decision to come but now we've decided we need to come back. It's location allowed us to easily access Ottawa attractions by foot. Truly was a highlight of our trip to stay in such a beautiful hotel. We will see you again, thank you!

We stayed for a week guests of this charming little Swiss hotel. The owner is extremely helpful and always has an open ear with an excellent and rich breakfast;-)! The hotel is central and the rooms are functional. We were filled. Thank you very much, we'll be back.

The good: The staff was incredibly friendly, and made our check in/out easy. The room itself was very nice, and the bed was decently comfortable. Everything was clean, and there were ample towels. The property is located two — three blocks from the market, and four to the parlement buildings. The Wi-Fi worked great. The bad: The washroom wasn't updated, and had the cheapest shampoos and soaps that could be found. The property is very close to three or so homeless shelters, so there are a lot of sketchy people around the area. I'm not sure if I'd stay here again. It was fine, but I didn't love it. I would have been more impressed if the washrooms and entrance area had been fixed up a bit more.
