Better than expected, quite a big room with a couch and an ensuite toilet. Stayed there for 7 days and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful, and convenient location near the city.
The Ritz this place is not, so if that’s where your budget and expectations are, it’s not a place you’ll enjoy. Its quaint, old fashion, tucked away, in so many ways, its Kazakhstan. The staff try hard to be as helpful as they can be. English works. The rooms are clean, +++, and endlessly practical. The bed we had was a queen, the AC worked, we didn’t use the Wi-Fi or TV. We were there for the night to sleep, and wanted a good bed, at a good price. As you will find in Almaty, buildings four stories or less, do not commonly have an elevator. My room was 16, 000 tng, that’s about 30 usd, and I got more than that value for my money. I have stayed in rooms that run well over 1000 a night, and rooms where the bed was broken with sand on the sheets. Rooms fit for a king, and a dog. One place we stayed was called the queens room, because she had stayed in it. That room had a stair case, and two levels. Five Seasons will not be anything like that, but you will get a good nights sleep, in a clean comfortable bed, at a perfectly measured rate. It is exactly as advertised.
When you look at the star ratings, there is no star.

A basic place to stay in an OK location. The room and bathroom were clean and neat. The rest of the place was worn out and run down. It looks like a lot of transient workers stay long-term.
