Always a pleasure to visit the Westin as a guest or business visitor. Great location near the Port and the fabulous Boardwalk. Staff always make you feel special.

Great stay in Halifax. Our room was clean and the beds were really comfortable! Andrew at the bar was great in recommending fun drinks and created a great atmosphere.

This hotel is horrible in all sorts of way possible. Especially the service. I did not pay this much only to be treated this way. Everything about this hotel bad. Broken shower, broken glass bits on the floor, coffe machine stinks. They even made me change my decent room for no reason and moved me to a very bad room.

Roy's Lobby Barand Patio. Away from the hubbub of the Waterfront and other downtown locations, this is a great place for a quiet escape where you can sit outside without the din of crowds and vehicles. They keep changing their menu so there's always something new to try. Food is always excellent. I've never been disappointed. Happy hours are great. Excellent service from servers Andrew and Jessica!

An overall absolutely beautiful hotel with amazing, fast acting, polite staff. Everything just made you feel like you were at home, down to the smallest details like lavender for resting, ice cooler buckets with an ice machine down every hall, soaps, towels, robes, everything was amazing highly recommend!

We unfortunately spent many many nights here over the last year to be close to the IWK. However our stays were always wonderful and the staff very helpful. Our son hates coming back to Hali for appts but always enjoys staying here. He actually learned to swim in your pool! At this point it feels like our home away from home.

Poor customer service! we cancelled our previous hotel after being told they would match the price of the hotel we had previously booked. The westin was closer to our event. Well the day before we find out "they do not price match" and were expected to pay the full price of the room. 70$ more then what one of their employees priced me on their reservation line.

I had my staff Xmas Party last night. Great food as usual! We had room 800 and it was the most amazing view will definitely be booking the same room for next years party.

We were here for a conference and had a wonderful time! Scottie at the front door is amazing at his job… always welcoming and going above and beyond the call of duty. Meals and staff were excellent in Elements especially Shaun, Jessica and Michael!
The one negative is that we did not receive housekeeping on our second to last day. That was disappointing as we had to ask for fresh towels and had no coffee for the next morning.
Other than that, the location is perfect and the staff were wonderful!

Location is good and main lobby is nice. Our room was not very nice — it felt a bit out dates but everything was clean. Real problem was that the hotel started loud construction in an adjacent room at 7am. The construction continued even after calling the front desk. The front desk was apologetic but our day on Halifax was pretty well ruined by a lack of sleep due to the noise. Would not recommend.

Wonderful hotel property. Welcoming staff with a great sense of humour to welcome anyone staying here. Small extra things like offering extra luggage stands and a colouring book for our younger daughter go the extra mile. Beds are very comfortable and shower is strong and hot at any time of the day. Would highly recommend.

Was attending a 4pm wedding at the hotel. Upon arrival at about 345pm I met with some other family (the father of the bride included) and discovered that their rooms were not yet ready and was going to have to change for the wedding in the washroom. Everything was sorted out with this in the end at the last minute, however, staff seemed a little overwhelmed and not something I would expect would happen at a top rated hotel. The venue itself was beautiful, lots of great photo ops, an outdoor patio/balcony area for some fresh air (although it could use a little TLC).

All of the staff were great and helpful. The food was really good too. But be ready to request a new room if you end up in the one I was in — — the bathroom had a glass door, whatever right? Except that there was a giant window in that bathroom and the door faced the beds. Despite the other window having blackout curtains, the bathroom window had no coverings and we were awoken bright and early by the sun beaming through our bathroom door… bit of a design flaw.

I got what I asked for and more. Coming in I had a couple of request all of which were granted. First thing is atmosphere of the place, beautiful old building and being lovingly renovated. The staff approachable and ever so helpful. Location is another factor in staying there. We arrived and during the four day stay did not use our car at all. Everything you need is within comfortable walking distance, farmers market, pier 21and the harbour boardwalk. Food both stores and eateries all in a five minute walk or less. Westin is my overall value in Halifax. .

The bed was comfy. So much so that I slept in late on the weekend. The staff extra nice. Dinner in the lounge was tasty and prompt.

Was a decent stay. Staff was very friendly, breakfast was delicious at Elements. However not worth $250 a night. Found a dirty almond on the floor in our room, the coffee on our dresser was 2 months outdated, when room was booked it was known 2 guests would be staying there, but only one robe was given, and the rugs look like my cat threw up on them. And for $250 I would have expected Wi-Fi and free parking.

We enjoyed our Sunday brunch immensely. The good and service is second to none! My family always celebrate special occasions at the Westin.

Went for drinks and a comedy show at Yuk Yuks. I was so pleased that they had local cider on tap, Bulwarks. I saw comedian Mark Wright, who was amazing. Yuk Yuks brings great talent, though the room and stage are small, I still had fun, definitely laughed and enjoyed myself! Service can be slow, not due to the staff, but because they need to leave the comedy club and go to the Westin restaurant to bring food/drinks. The waiting staff are great, it is the logistics of the club that causes slower service. The bar you see in the club pictures doesn't actually serve alcohol, maybe that is part of the club's humor. To compensate for this though you can order a bucket of chilled bottled drinks (like corona, olands or coolers), kept cool with ice. I would recommend visiting if your want to have a fun time!

Well managed and clean. Super friendly staff. Great location. Room service menu was unclear but overall good food. Really like this as a hotel. Everything is presented to an excellent standard. Cant fault this place at all. Rooms were modern.

Amazing stay, each member of the staff I met was smiling. Room was beyond reproach. There is an amazing feat of technology in the room which I haven’t encountered very often, it is a « input bar » that lets you plug any device (HDMI, RCA, PC video) directly into your room’s flatscreen. (I attached a picture of this device with this review). Side note: there is also a retractable hanging rope in the bathroom for those interested in doing their own laundry and hanging it to dry.

One of the worst Westin I've been to. I stayed there for 2 nights and the first room I got was outdated and even worse, the mattress in the room was so over used that when I sat on the bed, it caved in at least 3 inches. As a result I woke up the next morning with bad back pains. The next day I requested a new room in the newly "renovated" part of the hotel (which I should have probably got in the first place). Well it wasn't so much renovated but rather refreshed. Still better than the first room from that perspective. The problem? Well a couple lights didn't work and it appeared the room wasn't as clean as it should have been, I found hair on the bed/pillow, the phone didn't work (pick up the cordless handset and hit buttons to no avail) and the worst? … There was pubic hair on the toilet seat and on the toilet bowl. Lovely hotel ain't it? I travel quite a bit (platinum member for a couple chains) and this was one of the worst. Never again at this Westin.

We attendee the Easter Brunch for the second year in a row. As always, it was excellent. The Westin presents it extremely well and we will most likely be coming back next year.

Grand old hotel in a nice waterfront location. The public areas and rooms have been updated and Wi-Fi is included with your stay. Both self parking and valet parking are available for a fee. Only problem we had was trying to adjust the room temperature. We found it very warm in the room and were unable to adjust the thermostat. Overall a good experience, and we will return.

Great rooms. Excellent service. Added some TRX in the gym. Pool is nice but small (10m). Good location to water. Roy's cocktail lounge is great — must have a night cap at Roy's. Also have a yuk yuks comedy club on site.

This is the 3rd time having a very bad experience at this hotel. The first time my room, which was paid for in full ahead of time, was given away before I arrived. I had to wait 2 hours for them to move beds into a conference room. The second time the robe in the room was dirty, the pool and hot tub room was disgusting. There was a used nose plug floating in the hot tub and hair all over the floor around the pool. They placed us on a floor where the pool elevator wasn't work…ing so we had to walk down two flights of stairs and across the hotel to get to a pool elevator. Then, I purchased orange juice from one of the vending machines and it was 6 months expired and brown. After my second stay, I was offered a free upgrade to a "newly renovated room". I only wish that these reviews let you post photos. There is a side table sitting next to the window where there should be an armchair, yet there is no armchair next to it. The computer desk, the bedside tables, the bathroom mirror, & the credenza below the TV literally all have scratch marks all over them and are clearly very old. The Wi-Fi is so weak that my phone won't even connect to it and half of the TV channels don't work. Needless to say I am not pleased. The manager did call to ask if everything was okay with the room and when we explained that there is no way this is a newly renovated room, they assured us that it was and apologized for having the chair missing.

Stayed at the westin march 23 for one night. The hotel staff was really friendly and accommodating at check in! What they failed to tell is was that we were on the same floor as a wedding party and there would be a reception below us. It sounded like there was a rave directly under our bed making it hard to fall asleep and stay asleep which was disappointing because we had travelled all day and were looking to have a relaxing night. Mentioned it to the front desk the next morning and their response was "oh yes I did hear it was a rough night on the 3rd floor" … maybe it was because I had a discounted room but the last time I stayed at the westin was a much better experience.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of enjoying Brunch at the Westin Nova Scotia. It was absolutely perfect. Between the amazing array of food and our excellent server Courtney… we actually closed the place down. Thank you Courtney for your wonderful service you were excellent. We will definitely be back.

We attended Yuk Yuks Comedy. The club is excellent. A great venue for those shows. We've never had a bad experience. My only complaint is that drink prices are very high.

Staff was. More than nice they went out of their way to remember the details that I liked. Clean nice rooms. The work area is better than most hotels. Pool and Jacuzzi were nice too.

Stayed here for my work Christmas party. Very nice hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and caring. They only thing that wasn't great was ever time we did something there for example ordered room service they would put a hold on my card. So I accumulated three hold. The room, room service and breakfast. Each one had a hold of there total amounts on my card. The holds were lifted and money was returned three days later.

I spent a few hours with some family members who were staying at the hotel. Nice room, guest services were great. Odd complaint, but frustrating nonetheless, we went down to the pool area to get in the hot tub, only to find it cold (lukewarm at best). We made a call to the front desk and we were informed that it was a Jacuzzi and not a hot tub, so the jets were the point, not the temperature. Wasn't very enjoyable. Otherwise, not a bad spot.

Some fiasco always seems to occur when we stay here (for instance checking into our assigned room and finding another guest already settled in there). The restaurant is good, and they have a wonderful breakfast buffet, however, the entire facility is showing its age, especially the pool area, which is grungy. On the other hand, when the downtown and waterfront are your destination, you couldn't find a better location! It is walking distance to some of the city's best restaurants, shopping, historic sights and harbour views.

We are platinum but they gave us normal room I don’t see the upgrade like in other Sheraton properties. The pool, hot tub and the gym are fine. I really liked the Kids menu in the main restaurant, the staff are very friendly. You can have a nice manicure in the salon.

Nice hotel and staff! Great breakfast buffet served for the conference guests. Only negative was that my fridge had a sandwich in it from the previous guest, so my fridge didn't smell pleasant when I opened it. Other than that, great hotel!

This is perfect location for enjoying the waterfront. Great location for those who like to walk & run and good hill climbs/stair options head up to the Citadel. Take time to take in the history of this amazing town! The bell desk crew is super awesome and very helpful!

The Weston Halifax is a great hotel right where everything is happening in this beautiful town in Nova Scotia! We were able to park the car, walk to the water, Seaside Farmers Market, Sea Dome, Visitors Center, Maritime Museum, Immigration Museum of Canada etc. Hotel staff are fun, funny, smiling and love kids! I have a family that loves to be silly and they welcomed us with open arms. Elements, the restaurant has incredible food, especially the buffet breakfast! If you miss the restaurant they also have a lounge for food and spirits if you're in the mood. Everything was very clean and perfect for my family of 4! Oh, almost forgot, great pool & fitness room… perfect after walking all over town to see the attractions. Dip your feet in the hot tub for instant relaxation! Hair needs a trim or style… spa too!

I walked in for the first time to attend an event that was happening. There were maps located at the front to tell us exactly where to go and how to get there, and the staff were friendly and helpful at assuring us we were headed to the right spot. Would certainly consider this place if I was looking for a hotel for a night.

The Westin Nova Scotian in a great spot for experiencing everything Downtown Halifax has to offer. It’s right next to the Halifax main waterfront and is close to Pier 21 (which has great shops & the Museum of Immigration) and a ton of shops, restaurants & stores. The exterior of the hotel is very classic and so are the common areas. I love how one of the doormen is always in a kilt! The hotel definitely needs some upgrades which it’s in the process of and will also be renovating throughout the next year. The rooms are definitely dated but comfortable (older fixtures, doors, heating/cooling systems etc). Initially I stayed in a room facing the park/west which is not a bad view. That is until you stay on the other side of the building! The waterfront view is definitely stunning so ask for a waterfront room if possible. Overall the staff is very helpful. One thing that threw me for a loop was that they charge you for the entire room charges when you first check in. Usually hotels charge you for incidentals and this was not the case and I was charged for all nights. My suggestion to the staff was to make sure that is known up front. The hotel has great meeting rooms, a small business center, a spa, fitness & a really beautiful pool! It’s a little pricey for the upgrades that it needs but overall it’s a great hotel! (Author’s note: I was comped one night as a travel blogger — all opinions are mine)

I've only been here for Yuk Yuks but they never disappoint. I wish that the staff would make the audience members sit close to the stage as they were coming in. It should not be up to the performers to make audience members move forward. 5 stars for the performers. 4 stars for the seating.

The so-called "Grand Dame" of Halifax hotels certainly lives up to the name. The original structure is a wonderful piece of architecture and the interiors have been kept up to modern standards of cleanliness. The staff are very accommodating and eager to help.

Rooms are reasonable given that this is an old building. Service is excellent and staff are friendly and make every effort to accommodate their guests needs. I like the location because it is close to the Wharf and there are some nice restaurants within walking distance.

The Westin hosted us for our work event and it was great. The food selection was varied and everything was tasty. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The space was big enough to hold 400 of us. Thanks westin!

Nice hotel, room a little small, excellent location facing the market. But very clean, affable staff.

Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We have no complaints about our stay the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the room was not up to the standard for the price they charge. Luckily we booked through Hotwire and got a decent price but at a regular price of $250 per night our room had a broken mirror, peeling wallpaper, bad plumbing, leaky shower, the knobs on the drawers had the finish peeling off… And we were also expected to pay extra for Wi-Fi? None of this caused us to have a bad time, but just observations for a hotel that is supposed to be luxury class it was pretty run down looking. I'd stay there again but only if I got another Hotwire deal. Not worth the full price tag. Otherwise our stay was fine.

The service is impeccable, the meals at the "Element" restaurant are just delicious. On the other hand there are many problems of humidity and a small renovation is necessary in the rooms. Apart from that it is a hotel that I recommend. I would go back with pleasure.

My wife and I wanted to spend a night in Halifax! We live 20 minutes away by car, but we decided to take the Dartmouth ferry into the town! Ending the night in the Westin complete with the best meal of our lives at the 'Elements on Holis' right in the hotel, was fantastic. Clean room, bright bathroom, great view! Give it a try even if you live close!

Grew up as a kid getting kicked out for throwing ice cubes off the belkny haaaaaaaaaa was the nova Scotia then haaaaaaa.

Waiter ruined our Valentines dinner by taking our phones and giving us a lecture about spending time together then gave our phones back and offered us free room service. Got food poisoning from the room service. That replaced our "fancy night out". Being a minimum wage worker I am glad I known I don't need to spend half a pay check here ever again.

Went to a Unity seminar in the Atlantic ballroom. The ballroom was a very nice venue. They also served a buffet lunch that was delicious. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall a great experience.

We have been to the Weston Nova Scotian for brunch many times. What can one say! The food is excellent, service fantastic and the atmosphere soothing with the very enjoyable solo singer. With light music and songs.

This was my second time at the Westin. I was attending a wedding with my wife and we were also celebrating our 5th Wedding Anniversary. The service was fantastic! Our room was upgraded and we had fantastic views from the 9th Floor! In addition, the staff were aware that it was a wa special occasion, so when we returned to the room after the ceremony, there was a bottle of sparking wine and chocolate covered strawberries in the room! We LOVE Westin Heavenly Bed and would love to actually get one for our apartment too! We WILL return!

Had a great experience at the Westin Nova Scotia this weekend. We were celebrating an anniversary and they upgraded us to a suite, gave us valet parking, and even gave us a complimentary breakfast for free! The view from the room was beautiful! Spent some time at YukYuks downstairs as well. The comedians were hilarious!

The hotel is in a nice location next to the Cunard centre where we were attending a convention. We were on the higher floor with a harbour room, though the blinds were somewhat broken and we couldn't open the blinds to take advantage. The beds were comfortable and the room clean and spacious.

I attended the Westin for a brunch for my place of employment recently. I have to admit that I was not impressed with neither the service or the food. Although some dishes were good (the mac and cheese and roasted root veggies were delightful) others were not as expected. Some signage to explain what each item was could have helped avoid this. I found the servers lacking in information about what was being served. We asked what kind of mousse was in the wine glasses, we were told vanilla, when in fact it was mango — this is dangerous when considering allergies. My friend had to ask 3 different servers on how to get her plated meal and we had to unfortunately beckon for a server to come give us coffee. I came in with high expectations due to the reputation of the West in and left very disappointed.

What happened to the Westin Christmas buffet? Dirty room, less selection, warm food (nothing hot) NO CARVING STATION and 20$ More expensive! Can't say enough how disappointed we are, you've ruined a Christmas tradition!

The lobby was beautiful and the staff was friendly. Easy to joke around with and be entertained. The only issue we had was the room was extremely warm and hard to sleep even with the air on. I don't know if it was an issue with the one system.

Got 3 drinks fraudulently charged to my hotel room and I have called the manager several times. They have not called back despite the assurance by the person at the front desk that they are in… However, the charges were refunded within a week. So I've upgraded my review to 3 starts.

Conveniently located hotel and a great place to stay. Staff are friendly, the hotel is clean and the rooms are a good size. My only complaint would be that rates can sometimes be high depending on availability but you can find great deals online depending on the time of year.

2 night stay with friends. Perfect location convenient to restaurants, market, and central downtown. Great service, lovely breakfast restaurant. Room quiet and clean, could use a few new plug outlets but otherwise great. Will recommend.

One time I saw a tree frog and it made me sad. Not for the fact of being a tree frog, more the fact that he always had to watch other frogs play in the water from his tree. I decided that I would catch Captain bravery and help him fulfill his lifelong dream. (the name I gave him due to his exploits) So I fashioned a ship out of some Tupperware, placed it in the water and captain bravery was sailing. All the other frogs were jealous, you could totally tell bc like frogs are green and stuff right. Great hot tub.

Very bad value value for money. Be careful at Westin Hotel, after you leave the room and it is too late to return, they start checking your room and deduct the money from your credit card, much more than the room price, and much more than what you consumed form the fridge and water bottles, which are not free. You will only notice when you get the credit card bill. Had to pay 30 Canadian dollars on top of room price for a water bottle and small pringles.

Quality of experience depends a whole lot on which room the give you — there is lots of variability in size and comfort. Request an upgrade or junior suite. The lasat Junior Suite stayed in was in the oldest part of the hotel on the 8th floor — with a shared balcony and nice city views. Staff are efficient. The restaurants is so so.

Great Historic Place to stay. All Nova Scotian there! The entertainment is always great and the service is seamless. As a local Halifax / Dartmouth business owner of Brinton Photography, I have shot events here a few times and the facility is operated in top notch professionalism! Great hotel. I always stay at the Nova Scotian when I am in Halifax. The hotel may not be right in the middle of downtown, but it is quieter because of this, and it is only a short walk into town. The hotel is right beside the railway station and Pier 21 is across the street from the back door. The harbour views are excellent and worth the cost.

Nice weekend. Wi fi is free if you join their free loyalty program. Parking is not expensive for a major city. Valet parking is a couple of dollars more. Well worth it. Staff are friendly and courteous. Rooms are clean with plenty of towels etc. Close to restaurants and pubs and Cornwallis Park. Short walk to Pier 21, Farmers Market, Discovery Center and other attractions.

Stayed here for a romantic weekend away in Halifax. The room was a bit small for King Room, but had a great view of the Ocean. The hot tub was broken on our first night, which was disappointing but was fixed for the second night. The breakfast was great during the week, but I was not at all impressed with the Sunday brunch. Mediocre food and very overpriced. Overall, service was great. We did valet parking for $22 per day (regular parking was $18 per day) and they were very helpful and accommodating. The location is ultra-convenient to explore Halifax's harbor and downtown, we very rarely needed the car. I was unimpressed with the spa. I tried repeatedly to call for an appointment with no answer, when they did answer was told they couldn't do a massage and pedicure, only a pedicure. So I booked it, arrived 10 mins before my 4:30pm appointment. My esthetician didn't arrive until 5:10pm. Then I was put in a room to soak my feet for 15 minutes while she left again. The pedicure was quick after all that wait time, and poorly done, and I was sent out the door with wet toes for $65. I had a good stay overall, not sure if I would return, but it is a beautiful hotel with a good location.

Awful customer service. Found a cheap rate advertised on their website. When I tried to check in they would not honor that rate and tried to charge $40 more per night. When I asked about the rate I found on their website they said they could not honor that rate at the check in desk and that I could use their 'business center' computer to book the rate online. When I tried to book online, the website did not work. I wasted more than 20 minutes of long distance on my cell phone with their customer support which was absolutely useless. In the end the front desk booked the room with that online rate for me with no issues. I was given a room with NO view at all. Otherwise the room was fine but the customer service was absolutely awful. I parked in the hotel parking and after my stay they were about to charge me $18 per day to park in their parking lot while I stayed at their hotel; unbelievable.

Hotel is a money grab and does not include parking or free Wi-Fi? Rooms are small and outdated. Food is expensive there, so went to Superstore grocery and nearby restaurants instead to eat. Would not stay here again or reccomend.
