2 x FIRE ALARMS and evacuations the first night! Tiny bathroom! Could barely fit in shower. Light fitting above basin was faulty, block-out curtain had worn patches that allowed light in.
Biggest issue was fore alarm going off at 02:20am! No head count, no explanation of why, no advice that it was safe to return to rooms. Staff disappeared after fire brigade left.
Fire alarm then went off again at 8am! Same scenario. I had to ring the reception bell to see staff afterwards, and had to ask what happened. Apparently it was “people smoking in their rooms”.
Asked for a refund for our next two nights, which they agreed to, and also refunded the first night. Grateful for that. We have moved to a safer hotel!

I had the misfortune of having being detained by the government in a mandated quarantine for the past 2 weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, I had the absolute privilege to be put in the care of the wonderful Hobart Travelodge team. They made my stay as comfortable as possible, tending to every one of my needs and wants. It was my Birthday on the 16th of April, and I was surprised with a bottle of wine AND chocolates — which absolutely made my day. Thank you to the team at Travelodge, in particular Mark, Olivia and Dixa!

I have been to Travelodge in Hobart many times the staff are very professional it is very close to all the necessary amenities in the Hobart CBD and excellent amenities in the hotel.

We stayed as a group of 3 friends. Photos on the website were extremely deceiving with respect to the size of the room. Our room was 3 single beds with barely a metre in between each. The bathroom was also extremely small. The size of this room made our stay extremely uncomfortable. For example, we had to do our make up on the bed in front of the mirror. The only good thing about this accomodation was that the reception was 24/7 and it was a good walking distance to the main strip of restaurants. These rooms are probably only suitable for if one person is staying.

Makes Fawlty Towers look functional. Small rooms, poor communicators, front desk staff way too familiar after only just meeting you. Luv, Darl dont cut it … frequent travelers to Hobart… wont stay again.

Small rooms but warm and clean. We didn’t have breakfast included in our booking and only went on the last morning knowing we had to pay the extra. However this morning they decided they would close a half hour early as it was a quiet time at the hotel. However early close was not advised to us, only those guests who actually booked into breakfast, but that was ok. The problem was there was very little cooked food and although they said they would cook more after 10 min wait we needed to go to catch our bus to the airport. This is no way to operate a breakfast restaurant at a international hotel.

Great service bed was wonky moved me to better room instantly.

I've stayed three times at this hotel. First two times were good but not for my recent visit. The price is generally good and so is the location. A few things that are annoying and unnecessary: — The ironing board is tiny and doesn't have a padded cover; ironing a shirt therefore results in the metal pattern of the board being imprinted on the shirt. — I tried to phone reception for a replacement ironing board but the phone didn't work. — No satisfactory ironing boards were available so reception brought some sheets to my room to use as covers for the ironing board. — The Wi-Fi signal in my room was so weak that I couldn't connect with any device. — Why, every time that I stay, do I have to give my address, phone number etc.? The hotel have my details on file so why can't they use my existing info?

Nice clean modern compact rooms, good rate and very accomodating staff. Good job guys!

We are currently staying in this hotel now. The staff was helpful upon check-in. We will like to thank Jason, whom helped us to arrange an upgrade for our room just with just a call. As our stay in Sydney didnt turn out well, I decided to call Travelodge to check & confirm our bookings… Jason took my call, I requested for our room to be upgraded, we need a comfotable room to rest… Upon arrival, we were greeted by their friendly staff. We were happy with our room & our room is neat, tidied and cleaned everyday… Today is our 3rd night… we have another 2 more to go. So far so good. Thank you guys for everything, you did a great job. We will definitely be back.

Very comfortable beds, clean rooms and affordable accommodation close to all the shopping and some of Hobarts finest restaurants. Staff were friendly and easy to get along with too. Very pleasant stay.

At about 11pm the fire alarm went off. You couldn’t hear it properly from inside the room. There where no staff directing people away from the building. There where a lot of people standing less then a meter away from the building. I did not see one staff member during the evaluation. There was no checking to make sure the guests where out of the building.
The service was less then average. The “mini bar” at reception was not stocked and was out of a lot of products.
The conditions of the room was poor. The sink had multiple cracks and my husband saw mould under in the cupboard.
We left after the evacuation as this was our first night in a hotel since our 12 week old was born and we did not feel safe. I found the experience disturbing.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Shirish, the Hotel Manager — who I spoke to on a business matter — who was incredibly kind and understand regarding the nature of my request. As I was acting as an agent for someone else, he was incredibly understanding and went above and beyond what is expecting as a Hotel Manager.

Compact room is just that — compact. May as well get the standard soze room. Great friendly staff, and the breakfast is great. Would recommend.

Took half an hour to find our booking, then sprung that parking was extra. key wouldnt work for parking lot gate. room was tiny, hot water did not work. not happy.

Good location and modern hotel. However, several points are very negative: — Wi-Fi works poorly and limited, watching a video on the internet is a struggle. Allow a few hours of patience to watch the trailer of a movie on YouTube.
If you want better, you have to pay obviously… — soundproofing, we hear neighbors flushing the toilet and the noises of the street are disturbing without stopping, despite the double glazing aspect of the windows.
— PARKING fee $12 Otherwise the staff are smiling and very helpful, which is still important and allows me to leave 2 stars at this property.
I will definitely not come back to this hotel at $140 the night minimum… on Hobart there is much better and cheaper.

I stayed in their budget room. The windows are double glazed but that wasn't enough to stop the constant road noise. Poor lighting within the room & a cramped bathroom. Spend a little more and stay elsewhere. Staff were friendly, and the morning sunlight was wonderful.

Clean place to stay, staff was good and helpful. The Hotel was walking distance to the shops and restaurants ant water. Great view from the room you see the ferrys go by. Hoburt is a great place to visit. So many things to see.

Near Salamanca Market… around 5 mins drive. Coin laundry provided. Parking is $12/night.

Everything is in an average and acceptable level. Wouldn't be a place to dislike and will come back again in future!

Just OK. Next time I would book another hotel. Only the rooms in the upper floor have safes. Considering that anyone can take the lift to any floor that's not very secure if you stay in a room without a safe. We stayed in a room on the upper floor upon arrival in Hobart. When we returned after one week we were given a room on the second floor. Another design. Very small. Not enough space for two pax and suitcases. Tiny bathroom. Toilet and shower next to each other with an opaque sliding door. You will get wet feet if you need to go to the toilet after your partner had a shower. We asked for another room and "voilá"… got a similar room as on our first stay but on the 7th floor. Reasonably clean. The linen had a big stain. Even though one knew the linen had been washed and the stain was just not removable it felt a little disgusting. We would have asked housekeeping to change the linen but it was already very late and we just wanted to sleep. Staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast boring but cheap. Very close to the city center and to Salamanca Square.

If only it has a larger bathroom. It will be perfect for its price range. Staffs of hotels are very helpful.

Accommodation was excellent, rooms well kept, reception staff are very professional and breakfast menu was very good with good variety.

Great location, only reason stayed here. Bed quite uncomfortable. Bathroom very small, couldn't even open shower door fully. It hut the towel rack.

The hotel could partly be a renovation contract. The price-performance ratio is not quite right.

Room too small and not very clean, Wi-Fi very slow, staff friendly is the only good point.

Hotel in downtown Hobart okay.

Very Disappointing, booked a room for the 23rd of March instead of 23rd of February by accident. As soon as I clicked book I realised what I had done and emailed the company to see if I could change the date or get a refund this was with in two minutes of clicking book, they responded with a email telling me they couldn’t change the booking and that they were charging me a $138.59 cancellation fee! Terrible customer service! Especially when its almost 6 weeks from the date so they have ample time to get another booking. Definitely won’t be booking with this company ever again.

Local clean, convenient transportation, a lot of parking nearby, to the city center 5-10 minutes Car! The first room sink to the water slow, but also agreed to house rooms, other letters three days later to say!

The hotel is situated in the heart of the city, convenient for walking, looking for food, the room is clean, but the ventilation system in the bathroom is too bad.

I liked the place. The rooms are big enough but some facilities weren't clean enough. The staff is a little bit rude, my parents in law tried to communicate with some people there (they don't speak English) and some of them don't put any attention about an specific concerned. That was absolutely disappointed.

Loved my stay at Travelodge and all the staff were so welcoming. The clever comments on their products were a great touch.

Overall great stay however there was no kitchen and not enough utensils. Awful carpark that is an accident waiting to happen. Outdated TV that didn't even have a HDMI port.

Staff were very courteous and were always willing to try to help. The bed was very comfortable. Our executive room with a 'kitchenette', actually had a tiny sink, virtually no bench, a very small bar fridge and a microwave — no toaster or utensils. Not really a kitchenette. I am not sure what the standard room would be like if what we had was 'executive' but there was no table and chairs or small lounge as I expected. The room had 2 beds (queen and single) right next to each other, a small desk and chair and that was it. No real room for two people to move around at once. The shower room is the tiniest I have ever seen. You will not believe a toilet, shower and basin can fit in the space provided. I kept tripping over the corner of the shower when I wanted to use the toilet. We had trouble with some communication issues around our booking, but staff were always friendly albeit the issue did not really get resolved. The Wi-Fi speed and quality was unpredictable but free. Breakfast is the most basic buffet I have had in a hotel, but there was plenty and it was all fresh and edible. Location is good, but I think for what we were charged I expected better.

Clean comfortable and great service. Compact queen rooms are great if you only want a place to sleep.

Overall great value for money, great location. Having visited multiple times I find some rooms much bigger and better than others. Having stayed on business room size has never been a factor however if travelling with the hubby I would definitely request a larger room.

I had room number 903 and found the size was very good for me. The only thing wrong with the room was the microwave didn't turn but still heated my food.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful in everything that I asked from them.
I will stay again.

The room itself is quite comfortable but a tad small, the bathroom is rediculously small. No restaurant on site for dinner or to have a beer so you need to go out, the staff were unable to recommend a pub for a good feed. Additional charge for parking & noisy corridors early of a morning
Ok but only ok.

I found the staff very friendly and welcoming. I arrived too early but a room was ready so the nice gentleman let me check in at 12 midday
The rooms are fresh, modern, and clean. They're slightly small and the windows dusty outside but the bed and shower are both great.
Parking costs $12 a day and may be hard to fit in at peak times and buffet breakfast $19.
There is a kitchenette in room with microwave and kettle and utensils for eating and drinking.
The fridge is empty but minibar supplies are available at front desk if you want.
There is free Wi-Fi at a limited speed for two users and you can pay if you want faster or more devices logged in
The room was cleaned very well each day and trendy toiletries supplied.

Holding the Travelodge name we thought this hotel would be on par with other Travelodge hotels. Unfortunately we found it somewhat lacking. On the plus side, our room was spotless and the staff were friendly, and the location was fantastic — you can easily walk to Battery Point and the Salamanca markets. However, the beds were so uncomfortable that none of us got a good night's sleep, and the walls were so thin we could hear the people in the hallways and even the lift, even though we were a few doors down from it. Also the triple room had very little space for three people's worth of luggage. Overall it wasn't the worst place I've stayed at, but we won't be staying here again.

Apart from the location, nothing comes right with this hotel. Staffs are not friendly nor helpful, their attitudes are the last thing you would expect when working in a hospitality industry. As you inform the staff that you have parked in the hotel car park for check-in, their tone of voice was like accusing you for doing the wrong thing and should not have done that. This was definitely not the attitude towards you guest. Your room didn't get serviced even you have put up a sign to make up the room. When you called to Reception to inform them it was not services, there was no apology at all and made it sound like it happened all the time. Hopefully we could be receiving minimum service standard even if this is a 3 star hotel, i. E. Servicing our room when we have asked for.

Clean rooms of a reasonable size. Minor issue with a light and the aircon was a bit noisy but otherwise an enjoyable stay. Staff were very polite and was a short walk to city centre, markets and the port.

I had a few questions about the accommodation options for an upcoming (possible) stay. The staff were more than helpful and extremely friendly.

Pathetic! Pathetic! Pathetic! Came to Hobart for a conference, informed the reception for the need of parking space while booking, the response was disappointing… They said free Wi-Fi; not true! The room was a " box". The curtains had a load of dust! The toilet, well, if I can call it so, was another small box. No proper exhaust. Not enough towels… need at least 5 to mope the floor post shower… What abour the sink! No filter… what more should I say The mini bar was the most interesting. … the freezer reminded me of the movie Ice Age; fully filled with ice… The microwave oven was not clean, not a chance of using it! Honestly, dear readers, think many a time before booking. … if your are looking for a weird experience, then good. Belive me; I totally had one. WOULD NEVER EVER STAY HERE… Got one more night to go. … what to do… already paid for this c#@¥ One positive though… they agreed to refund for my second night… I am relieved!

Great location. A bit noisy while work is being done which is due to finish in the next couple months. Friendly and helpful staff.

A possible reason for this Hobart hotel being cheaper than competitors is that its rooms are much smaller than almost any hotel room you will find in actual major cities such as Tokyo, LA, London, Paris, (yes Paris) and NYC plus there is a major chance your room will be right above at least 10 or more outdoor air conditioning units from which there is no escape from the continual cooling fan noise. You will not be able to think if your window is open… We have recently stayed in at least 6 other hotels in this area and this is the smallest and worst room to date, and reception don't care in the least when brought to their attention. Wont be back ever Don't stay Here Does not deserve one star Since posting this review and subsequent attempts to contact Travelodge Hobart and TFE hotels I have observed possibly one of the worst examples of pathetic customer service and attitude in a very long time. The level of dishonesty displayed in the one and only response obtained by Qantas Hotels is a warning to anyone considering this hotel for accommodation, carefully check the reviews.

Box for a room. Everything is half done. Will not stay in ANY Travelodge ever again.

Friendly, helpful staff in a centrally located hotel that is clean and comfortable. When I return to Tasmania and Hobart, I will stay at the downtown Travelodge again.

Not as good as a ordinary three star Room size may vairy and may be very small *while the same type of room one may have a sofa and a small kitchen with a microwave, the other one don't have any of them. The staff is not very helpful and lack of flexibility. There may not be any room when you walk in and ask but if you check certain hotel ordering sites, there may be still room. I've ordered immediately online and got a room 30 minutes after the reception said there is no room avaliable. It takes a long time, but still a shabby little room which is better than nothing.
