Welcoming staff. Beautiful surroundings and the scenery is stunning. Accomodation was clean and everything was presented very well. Can’t wait to come back again. The local wombats just topped off an amazing stay.

Food was crap. Service was terrible. One person serving drinks between the rooms. Doesn’t help when people are stupid these days and don’t realise that there is a counter to order food and a separate one to order drinks. Don’t stand at the bar and ask to sniff all the gin bottles or have no idea what you want… it’s on the menu. You have at least 15 minutes standing in line to choose what you want before you get to the cashier. Oh yeah, $15 for a can of beer!? Wouldn’t even give 1 star.

We went to the tavern for dinner the food was terrible & the service was a joke 20 mins to get a drink whilst you meal goes cold. So disappointed & the staff couldn’t care less.

Great pizza — nice tavern more to come.

This place is in need of a major overhaul. Charging top prices for crappy wooden cabins with outdated decor and no Wi-Fi or television and crappy room service. No mobile phone coverage. There is no way this place should be four or five stars but three at a push. Would not recommend it to anyone and definitely will never come back. Very disappointed. A total rip off 😡

It sells itself as a luxury hotel but it is anything but. It’s a nice 3 star hotel with no Wi-Fi no television and no bar. Whilst it does have a bar it’s more of a hospital refectory. You can’t beat the location and the staff are very friendly and trying their best. It’s mutton dressed up as lamb.

Pretty much everything. Staff, food and the accommodation was first class. 5/5

Absolutely LOVED this place! We stayed at the King Billy suite for our honeymoon and we thoroughly enjoyed our selves!

I normally get very homesick but this was the only place where I felt right at home and was so sad to leave!
It has such a cozy homely feel to it with all the cozy warm fire places and gorgeous couches, great food, great service and wild life everywhere is just spectacular!
You get a really nice country club vibe which I loved!
One negative I have to say is we originally booked before covid and then when covid happed they doubled the price of the room which I thought was wrong but that aside we LOVE this place and are definitely coming back to stay for our anniversary! Thank you for an amazing experience 😆😀

Our stay here was fabulous. The walk around Dove Lake was tops. The hotel and staff were great and friendly. It was a shame to leave!

Open fire places, activities for all weather conditions, wildlife at your doorstep, access to incredible hikes, divine food and service… all in the picturesque surrounds of enchanting Cradle Mountain. Cannot recommend highly enough.

My partner and I stayed here for our 6th anniversary and he proposed down at the waterfall! We absolutely love it up there, the staff are amazing and so nice and the rooms are perfect. The meals at the highland restaurant are to die for, the Wallaby being the best meal I’ve ever had. The spa was incredibly also, so relaxing. The only thing I could fault was that the breakfast menu didn’t have much of a variety but what was there was still yummy! Overall, we thank you for another amazing trip! ❤️

So beautiful here and the staff are friendly plus great service. The cabins are clean and well presented and the food in the Tavern and breakfast in the Highland Restaurant are amazing.

We had the most amazing romantic getaway. The food at the restaurant and tavern was absolutely divine. The staff were lovely and welcoming and the fireplaces set a warming and homely atmosphere. The Alpine Spa was a perfect and relaxing way to finish off our wonderful holiday.

It's such a magical place! The 1st thing I saw, on getting out of the car to check in, was a wombat. The rest of our stay was fabulous. Accommodation, restaurant, setting and atmosphere are all amazing.

Dinner in the restaurant was sensational and the service the best we’ve had ever. Such great wait staff, engaging but professional. Disappointed with the spa cabin, it’s dated and I would expect more for $500+ a night. The road to the cabin had potholes bigger than your average car and very deep — again I’d expect better. Heading back to our room after dinner I fell into one just outside our room and broke my finger (confirmed by xrays) which was disappointing. I wouldn’t stay again.

Beautiful location, that's about all it has going for it. Why people are rating this accommodation so highly is beyond me as it is not cheap and certainly not worth the price. Rooms are cheaply done, and the service was poor (with the exception of one staff member). The credit card surcharge on top of the room price is a joke and unnecessary in today's world. The Contemporary Spa Cabin is the middle of the range room and is meant to be newly refurbished, the mattress was hard and again cheap. The floor creaked wherever you walked and the rain shower head was no more than a standard shower. The jetted tub was small for one person and in a room with no TV and the idea being isolation and connection was kinda hard to achieve when one person hardly fits. There were no robes in the room and the fridge and phone wouldn't work, to top it off the bathroom was dirty. Paying for quality is not a problem I have, paying for substandard parading as high end is just upsetting and disappointing. My suggestion is book elsewhere on Cradle Mountain and just pop into the lodge for the Waldheim Alpine Spa, definitely worth a look.

Beautiful landscape and close to many walking trails around the national park. Wildlife roam around the lodge freely, which makes the experience more enjoyable. The spa suit we stayed at for 2 nights (more nights were needed to explore more) was cosy with a fire place. The staff at the lodge are friendly, helpful and accommodating. The food at the Highland restaurant and Tavern is delicious and we'll presented. The Devil's lounge is very relaxing and inviting. Would recommend staying and cannot wait to stay again.

Comfortable accommodation in a self contained cabin. Heating was good and free parking. Very convenient for the Cradle Mountain area. Restaurants are 15 minutes away which was difficult at night and the wet The buffet breakfast was excellent. The menu in the buffet was very limited and heating could have been better The rooms were quite costly for the services provided.

Thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Our room was great, very warm and great facilities. It was fantastic to be able to walk through nature, often seeing local wildlife like wombats. Also had great food at the tavern and the buffet breakfast was spectacular. Definitely recommend.

Fantastic! Im a Western Sydney man, and I’ve been to Tasmania 4 Times in my life and out of all the restaurants and hotels I’ve been to Peppers is by far the best! The bistro has amazing food, especially the garlic bread! They have really great service and all the staff are really friendly. We stayed in a small cabin (#33), and it was amazing! Nice warm gas fireplace, the bed was so comfy, and the layout of the room and the view of the forest area outside was the highlight of the room! There are heaps of walks to go on around the area, and tonnes of wombats and wildlife that come right up to the cabin! And even better, it’s as close to cradle mountain as you can get I wish I booked more nights!

Really nice place! We stayed in one of the pencil pine cabins and it was lovely. We saw two wombats wandering around down the road and tons of wallabies. Beautiful walks very close to the lodge. Nice cafe at the visitor center that had great soup and chips!

Right in the middle of beautiful walks such as Enchanted and King Billy. Attentive staff throughout our stay with a room that is amazing for such a location. Delicious buffet breakfast. Made us feel special on our anniversary. Fireplaces on throughout the lodge and a Tarvan and Restaurant if you're feeling hungry. Close to everything you need to do on Cradle Mountain. There's so much here, can't imagine another place to stay if you're in the area. Watch out for the wombats enjoying a stroll right outside your cabins.

Not the cheapest accommodation option for Cradle Mountain surrounds but it was quite a nice place to stay and eat. The breakfasts were incredible and the food in other meals was very good indeed! The service was excellent and obviously located in a stunning place. The only thing I would ask for improvements in was the price paid. But otherwise perfect.

Wonderful stay. Everything about it was charming and perfect. We went for walks, saw an incredible number of wildlife up close (unique experience), sat by the warm log fire reading books, and had delicious food in the tavern. Staff were lovely.

Booked for several nights and only got complementary port for the first night as well as beautiful turn down service with chocolates. Looks likes you reward your one night stay more than multiples. Next time won’t book more than one and definitely won’t keep my room tidy. Reward those who do right by you. BTW still here for another night unfortunately.

Don’t go here thinking this is modern or stylish.
Positives — great location, walking tracks, private spaces and breakfast was good.
Negatives — sooooo many — terrible food in the Tavern ordered a vegetarian soup and it came with bacon in it, terrible untrained staff, staff can’t make basic drinks, not value for money with regard to food or accommodation, very dated cabins, no Wi-Fi, no tv, you need the fire in the cabins to stay warm but then you are a slave to them trying to keep them going with the huge pieces of wood, 4 unanswered voicemail messages to the day spa to try to book in a treatment!
Simply not good enough and will never return or stay with the Peppers group.

We stayed in both a Traditional Spa Cabin and a Contemporary Cabin. The traditional cabins have a wood fire, as opposed to the contemporary with a gas heater. The tradition cabins are more secluded. Both are well maintained and very nice. The restaurant is semi formal, and decent prices. Hotel and restaurant staff are friendly and willing to go out of their way to make your stay more enjoyable. The grounds are keep to a high standard, with walking trails, lakes and streams to explore. The Lodge is in close proximity to the national Park which is a must see attraction, the lodge sells the day passes needed to enter the park.

Beautiful, cabins really spread over property. Very secluded. Wallabies and wombats on wall from cabin to main area. Food very expensive. Maybe bring some easy make dinners etc. Close to national park entry.

Lush, cozy, decadent, immersed in nature, for making memories! I can't say enough about this Lodge This was our second stay and we will be back! The cabins are beautiful, every detail thought of. As you enter your cabin, there is a lit fire & background music playing on the sound system. Instantly sets a relaxing mood, yummy! Although, you cannot prepare any food in your room & there is no TV or Wi-Fi — perfect for a detox! The main Lodge offers an elegant restaurant or more casual dining in the tavern bar & bistro. Breakfast in the restaurant has more choices than anywhere else I have ever stayed! You won't regret staying here.

Beautiful lodge in the Cradle Mountain Park (it's actually the closest place to see to the park boundaries). There are a number of walking trails in and around the lodge that are spectacular (waterfalls, forests & foliage, and more). We signed up for the night time animal viewing charter from the lodge and it was worth it! The room itself was perfect, plenty of space with a nice outdoor patio. The fireplace was a nice feature for a mountain lodge as well.

Worth the price due to the location close to the national Park and nestled within bushland. Staff were friendly and helpful and lots of small touches that made it special. Warning: poor reception so perfect to 'get away' but don't expect to stream Netflix from your room.

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed it. The service was second to none and the food options were good. The buffet breakfast had everything you need and the restaurant and taven had a good range for lunch or dinner. Perfect for romance and what you need after hiking all day.

Great location. Superb food. We even had a couple of wild wallaby came to our back door to say hello. Will stay again.

We were only able to have lunch at the Tavern Bistro as accommodation was unavailable on our visit. Can highly recommend as food was delicious and service from all staff outstanding. Be sure to do the enchanted forest walk which starts or finishes at the side of the lodge.

This Tasmania is a fitness trip, two or three-hour trip to the lake, the magnificent scenery makes people linger, directly disrupt the trip to live in the mountains!

Excellent room with a gas fire and a nice view of a large pond. Wombats and wallabies right outside our window! Big breakfast buffet with good food. Good access to walking tracks and shuttle bus just across road from hotel. It's on the pricey side compared to other accommodation nearby but if you can splurge for a night or two it's enjoyable.

Definitely worth to stay if you want to see wildlife animals, such as wombat and wollby. Breakfast are included, and have various food. Location is great for many cradle mt short walks, and the interpretation centre is just 200m away. I would love to come back again in the future.

Deep in the mountains and a quick drive away from. The park entrance, Cradle Mountain Lodge is the place to stay if you're looking for some time away and enjoy nature, animals in their natural habitat and hiking. Keep a close eye out for the Pademelon and wombats that roam the grounds. Staff is very helpful and extremely accommodating to their guests. Food was great (buffet breakfast is a must before embarking on a hike). If you're looking for a spot to stay in the mountain area in Tasmania, this is the spot.

Great location, cool facility, lots of animals.

After a splendid walk at Dove Lake Cradle Mountain, we stopped at the lodge for a late lunch early tea. Reasonably priced we all had burgers and hot chips. Beautiful setting with as we sat outdoors on the balcony overlooking the amazing surrounds. From the lodge there are a number of short walks you can do including a waterfall.

So glad I did this. It's very calming place. Walking, hiking and fishing. Inside Peppers is what I call A Nook Room. It's for time out for ones self. Other words it's a quite area. The staff inside Peppers were wonderful. There is a place before. It's got a big souvenirs store and if you haven't eaten a buffet tea just across from it. L led yummy. It's $52.00 A/H.

Great old school type lodge with modern updates thanks to the peppers group. Room 73 had a faux fireplace which was excellent once the temperature dropped unexpectedly below 10 degrees. Excellent service. Book into the spa — a great few hours of pampering. Pick of the places to stay at the Cradles. You will pay for it too.

One of the most amazing hotel I have stayed in Australia so far. Good location in cradle Mountain, close to dove lake. Great facilities, view, environment, food and staff. Highly recommended. You can easily find lovely wildlife at your door step. Can’t wait to visit again.

Staying at the lodge for my first nights holiday after 6 months of working 7 days a week was the perfect way to start a holiday. Finding the lodge was easy as was checking in. Even the cheapest level room was quiet and the feeling of seclusion was wonderful. The food was the best I had ever had and the open fires were the best was to stay warm. Wonderful and unbeatable experience!

Stayed in a cabin and it was lovely and clean, tidy and warm. Food excellent. 2 restaurants, one bistro and one formal. Bars. Log fires in all main rooms. Comfortable lounges. Close to National Park. Fauna everywhere, wombats, pademelons, etc and 3 platypus on site. Short walk to Pencil Pine Falls and Knyvet Falls. Wonderful experience all round.

Room was nice, newly renovated bathroom was great, complimentary port is a nice touch. Lodge is really nice, especially if you can get a spot in the lounge next to the fireplace! Disappointments were: fireplace in our room didn't work (which sucks when there's snow outside and there's no TV or Wi-Fi) and the restaurant was really nice but not worth the money. Actually… That kinda sums up the whole experience. Nice, but the 20% 'cradle tax' on everything makes it hard to live up to the high expectations.

Four stars for great facilities and comfortable accommodation. Minus 1 star for the little insects e. G spiders. I know it's in the wilderness and can't be helped but they do provide insect spray which is good. Food is great at the tavern bar and bistro, breakfast at Highlands is pretty good too. However the dinner at Highlands was a lil bit more pricey but the quality is good. The more affordable option would be tavern bar. Highlight if my trip was the massage and steam bath at Waldheim Alpine spa.

Motel grade rooms but with the things you'd expect in a hotel. A beautiful place, nice views, quiet and cosy. The restaurant and pub both serve great food and awesome beer selection. A little bummed by a gas fire instead of a conventional log fire, especially as the room has (decorative) logs in it. Would be perfect if they added log cabins with proper fireplaces. Beware of road closures during and around the winter months.

Fantastic stay at the lodge, animals were quite friendly and got within a few metres of people. I highly recommend bringing your own pillow as theirs can be quite stiff. In cabin fires helped to keep the cold at bay and overall was fantastic to just relax Infront of the fire. Complimentary breakfast was a full buffet which is including in the lodge stay. Definitely worth the stay.

Stayed in Pencil Pine Lodge, a nice little discount through EB which included buffet breakfast and a bottle of sparkling (you need to choose the right room rate / special for this inclusion). Room exceeded expectations, spacious, clean, warm, nice views, private, comfy bed and chairs. Staff were great in all interactions, at reception, restaurant, bar and tavern. All well trained, polite, efficient, knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. Highland restaurant we loved, great ambience, nice wine cellar and dishes were delicious. Tavern was busier and more family oriented, more pub style food, but our one meal here exceeded expectations. Just remember where you are and what it takes to get staff and produce in when you start complaining about prices. Loved the open fires and couches to chill out in early evening. Lots of amazing walks to do direct from the lodge, or a short drive into the national park. Wonderful experience.

I was a little worried when I read some of the reviews on here but OH MY! We've been super impressed! Our room is amazing! Shower pressure brilliant! (Family Spa Suite).

The staff are fantastic! It was our daughters birthday yesterday and they had balloons in our room when we got back from dinner, chocolates on hers and our bed. A truffle selection and some fudge for us.
This afternoon we had a surprise cheese platter delivered to our room.

We'll definitely be recommending it to others and will be back! Oh and the bistro food is delicious! Loaded fries, spaghetti carbonara! YUM!

Location, ambience, views. Easily got to. Centrally located for walks and short driving distance to a variety of walks. Comfortable rooms & few without television so you talk, play cards or board games or just chill. Beautiful open fires in lounges and dinning areas. Wild life in abundance and appear unafraid of us humans, though not to be fed!.

Best location in the world. But current owners are charging high and aiming low. Don't stay. But do visit and eat at the tavern, they have a new crew and are producing amazing food at decent prices. Don't bother with the main restaurant, but the front desk (Paola) was lovely with all our issues.

I've stayed here a few times and there is no doubt the setting is amazing. Beautiful scenery and access to the national park. The lodge itself is cozy and inviting in the winter months and having a glass of red by the fire is very relaxing. I was very disappointed by the food the last time I stayed however, and I'm not the only person to experience this.

These guys are totally committed to making your time here enjoyable. We had above and beyond service especially from Daniel who is the Guest Services Manager. He went out of his way to help me when I arrived with a sprained knee including getting ice packs sent up from the town below and providing any assistance I needed. The restaurant staff were thoroughly entertaining and knowledgeable about food, wine and the local surroundings. Will be coming back!

Really nice hotel. We book in the last minute, and they were able to accomodate us really effectively. Spa and sauna was definitely a bonus after a long day trekking. Food could be better.

Have just returned from a tour of Tasmania, the highlight was two nights at Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge. A magical time. 2 inches of snow, wonderful, roaring fires, excellent heating in cabin. Great food. Who on earth would want Wi-Fi in the cabin? not me, did a little emailing in the lodge, when I could spare the time!

Great experience here. Expanded hike met with white out at Marion's Lookout. Wombats. After, came to Cradle Mountain Lodge hoping for beers and burgers and got exactly that with more. It was the Australian Rugby final thingy and folks were gathered and cheering. Recommend very much so.

We stayed in a contemporary spa cabin. It was very neat and cosy. The staff were lovely and went out of their say to make us comfortable. The food was nice, fresh and local and the wait staff were wonderful.

I can't explain enough the amount of work these guys put in for us on our wedding day. We weren't even staying in the lodge yet they did anything the could to make our day special. They not only made our wedding day the most memorable day of our lives, buy, they will always be firmly and fondly remembered as an integral part of our day.

To begin with, it's advised to stay off the roads leading to cradle mountain at night in winter. The roadkill is horrendous and very windy roads/fog/mist. On arrival we were asked to pay $100 p/night for bond (total of 8nights), we were not aware of this and there was no internet or Wi-Fi on the mountain. Our accom was paid in full in advance. This brings me to the Wi-Fi situation at the lodge. There is one room only at the main lodge where Wi-Fi is available. During our 9 day stay, the Wi-Fi only worked once. It was either down or Peppers hasn't topped up their data. Is only an issue when they specify Wi-Fi is available on their website. The bistro/bar is pretty cool, the atmosphere is awesome. However the prices are phenomenally expensive-over $15 for a glass of wine. The menu at the bistro is very small, not a lot of variety. Bookings are essential at Highland Restaurant, but worth it! The food is incredible, but the prices mean you probably won't eat there every night. Our room was apparently upgraded, but on first glance we were really disappointed. Not like the photos on the web. Our fireplace didn't work the first night so it was freezing! Free breakfast means BUFFET. One word. Disgusting. Very poor quality. Scrambled eggs, baked beans etc. There are boardgames available which is pretty cool but they are all broken and pieces missing. No DVDs or tv. So there isn't anything to do in the rooms.

We stayed two nights in a cabin. The food was pricey even in the "tavern". The bathroom had only a small shower, where a bath would be nice after a long day of walking in 2 degrees or less, but there is a gas fire in the room so that helped. Otherwise a very good experience, and we will likely return next year.

Fantastic wilderness experience! Wonderful scenery and plenty of wildlife to enjoy. We didn't get to do all the walks we wanted to as it rained on our one full day, but that just meant curling up in front of our fire with a good book and glass of red :) Staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Location is excellent at the foothills of the national park. Rooms are okay — nothing special. Spa facility is nice but super expensive. Tavern bistro is good for a quick casual meal. Staff are friendly. The lodge advertises 'guided walks' everywhere but apparently they only have 2 guides on staff. Currently one is on leave and the other is sick so there are no activities… seems a bit ridiculous to only have two guides on the staff for a lodge which presumably has about 100 rooms.

Very very good customer service, However was not told in advance about $200 deposit for any expenses spent suring stay. And the 5-7day return on the money. Probably should of expected this but after paying as much money as we did its a little harsh waiting for the money to return. Hurting our bank accounts until pay day.

Staff could not arrange suitable meal after 7pm. Tavern has very limited menu and guests are not welcome at restuarant without booking a day befire arrival. Going to bed hungry tonight… Edit — Suggestion by the lodge staff to go down the road to the " Cradle Mountain Hotel" for dinner paid off. I'll be staying at the "Cradle Mountain Hotel" from now on. Imagine a bed and a meal… Genius…

Lovely room with a fireplace, King bed, huge spa, kitchenette. The grounds were fantastic with wildlife everywhere, and plenty of short walks to explore. Highlight was certainly the on-site spa, which we rented out for an hour of pure relaxation. We had the steam room, sauna and outdoor spa all to ourselves, complete with wine. It was fantastic.

Not recommended — old and dated If segregation is what you are after Peppers at Cradle Mountain will give you this. Personally we found this place inconvenient on all levels. No TV and No Wi-Fi in the rooms which is understandable as isolation and tranquility is what the lodge is aiming for however given the state and appearance of the rooms this is hard to feel. Rooms have a very boring feel and look about them. Guests should be given the option to choose wether they would like additional facilities in their room. Instead the room had a very old radio which didn't even work. If we wanted to watch the news we had to drive down to the lobby area — impossible to walk in the rain or late at nights as I imagine the room to be very boring after hours of staying there. Reception staff were not accommodating. Also over heard a male staff member speak to an elderly couple in a rude manner. Food is not fresh and they do not have room service. After being at Peppers for a few hours we had decided that was enough, Drove to the Cradle Mountain Hotel (highly recommended). The difference is staff at Cradle Mountain Hotel were extremely helpful and the hotel was much cleaner and well maintained. Facilities and common area were of a higher standard. Cradle Mountain Hotel rates are better I would have gladly paid more here, staff are friendly, rooms were clean, $1 debit from credit card rather than the $200 at Peppers 3-5 days to refund. 1% surcharge rather than 2% at peppers.

Great comfortable cabins, friendly staff. A cozy feel, but certainly feels a lot more commercial than our previous visit, albeit almost 19 years ago.

Great location, nice 'lodge' rooms and actually the Highland restaurant we found to be charming, good quality and decent value. It's the perfect base to experience Cradle Mountain, with easy access to walks, info, shuttle bus etc. The only down side is the price of rooms — simply put it is not a $400+ per night accommodation. If I were paying.

$430per night should be a night to remembered, not in a old dusty itchy dirty cabin with no basic amenities. You'd think after paying Hilton's prices you'd expect at least a refrigerator… Maybe a TV… Possibly some tea… A clean kettle maybe… Or freaking internet! To top it off… Why not try their 5 course degustation menu, apparently Tasmanian renowned and not just have average food but try waiting a good three hours to complete 5 courses and tea in espresso cups. Feel sorry for everyone they are milking dry (including my partner and I of course) 2% surcharge for everything. You'd think it's a world heritage listed place and should be promoting tourism for the state with the international visitors and not ripping them off. Well it's done now. Just thought people out there should know. It's not the best value for money. But cradle mountain is beautiful nonetheless.

Howdy guys Breakfree/Mantra/Peppers – don’t ever use them. Cradle Mountain booking 1 night made on line – tick the terms and condition – didn’t bother reading, who does as any other chain you get a full refund if you cancel at short notice so didn’t think they’d be any different. Cancelled 3 wks later and lost $200 of the $370 as this is the deposit for any booking and the cheeky $25 cancellation fee (despite doing it online) and then the kicker, they didn’t even refund the other $175, instead giving you a credit to use at their properties for up to 12 months. I complained and they tell you that if I’d made it by phone, they would be required to tell me about the non-refundable $200 (read out all the terms and conditions). Ring to complain and it’s a sorry, it’s just our policy despite giving them advice on how they could better communicate during an online booking process and how out of keeping they are with other large hotel chains. Will never stay at any of these resorts and tell everyone to watch out for their ridiculous non-refundable deposit (especially if staying for just a night). Unfortunately will never be able to rate this resort because I'll never stay there.

My partner and I had finished the Overland track a day early because of the lousy winter weather (June), torrential rain, limited visibility and cold, but hey we knew what we were in for. We had a night booked but showed up a day early. The reception staff were very accommodating and organized a room for us for the night which was an upgrade on our original room to the King Billy suite. We were fantastically pleased, being cold and soaking wet to get driven to our suite and finding a room with central wood fireplace, kingsize bed huge bathroom and outdoor spa on a private balcony. Best of all was the decanter of port with the tag around the neck "please help yourself to a glass of port. " Well we certainly did. Then it started to snow. Well, having a bottle of wine in the 'hot' outside spa was outofthisworld! Food in bistro was ok, but prices reflected this. A pizza bar would be good. Breakfast buffet was also ok. But if you can afford the extra, splurge on the room, and you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely amazing! The cabins were so beautiful and the views were amazing.

Really good amenities and a great restaurant. Great local walks and wallabies and wombats in the evenings. The food was great without being mind blowing. I was disappointed that the degustation menu was just pick 2 entrees, a main and a dessert. Also they advertise that they have mountain biking but you can only ride on the sealed roads that are for cars.

Loved the location, right in the Cradle Mountain National Park. We enjoyed the lodge atmosphere and having the choice of either casual dining or more formal dining. The lodges were really comfortable, nicely furnished and of good size. We had two nights here in December. Could have stayed longer.

Great location right on the border with the national park. Our contemporary cabin was simple but spacious and the gas powered 'log fire' made for a cosy place to sit out the torrential rain. The grounds are filled with wildlife, the resident red-necked wallabies which amble between the cabins are particularly friendly. Food options are basic pub food in the tavern, and enjoyable fine-dining in the main restaurant, both options are over-priced for what's on offer, but in-line with everything else around the national park. Wi-fi is available but spotty and at additional cost — unforgivable given the price of accommodation.

Excellent location! We spotted some wildlifes such as wombats, wallabies. The room is quite good and quiet. But there is not TVs in the room.

I had high expectations for Pepper's Cradle Mountain but was disappointed. I can understand why the lodge is expensive, it is incredibly close to a World Heritage Site which brings it's own distinct challenges and costs. However, I did expect our stay to be more luxurious. We stayed in a Pencil Pine Cabin for $350 a night and it was a very tired and dated room in one half of a wooden cabin. The bathroom was tiny with an old fashioned plastic/fibre glass moulded shower. Room size was in line with a mid market corporate hotel. I would recommend avoiding the food in the tavern, it is very poor and reminded me of motorway service station fare. The food in the restaurant is better, but the flavour combinations weren't great. I had Venison and Strawberry for main and although the Venison was well cooked the dish just didn't work. This is by no means a bad hotel, the staff were lovely. I also wonder if the more expensive lodges represent better lodge experiences. My advice would be don't expect too much, and if you are looking for amazing food and luxury accommodation save your money and splurge in Hobart.

My boyfriend and I thought we'd spoil ourselves for a night at Peppers. Were told it would be $290 for the Pencil Pine Cabin as it was Australia day, which we agreed to as we thought that we were paying for 5 star accommodation and access to the facilities, as suggested in the brochures. — The bed was hard, we had a better sleep on the mattress of our camper van. — The heating in the room was insufficient. — There were no spare blankets for the bed (most places will have a woollen blanket in the wardrobe) — We weren't supplied with bathrobes (I have been to 3 star hotels that even provide them) — The room was clean, though the towels had stains on them — Limited menu, though the bistro meals were big and satisfying. — The lounges, bistro and restaurant had a warm, luxurious atmosphere — The Waldheim Alpine Spa is listed as a guest service, and in the brochures appears to be a facility that is available to all guests (at least the actual spa, sauna and steam room), but guests, having already paid for the 5 star accommodation and facilities must pay an entry fee on top of all that. Overall Peppers in Cradle mountain, is a huge rip off, and under performs for its rating. Its brochures are misleading, and I think it got its 5 star rating in some fraudulent way. For the money I paid, I feel deeply offended by the costs around every corner there. The Tasmanian tourism industry has become a huge rip off, and it will destroy itself if it continues in this way.
