The sheets were clean and fresh. The room was very run down and some aspects unsafe! The reception staff and hotel manager are incompetent, tried to lodge a complaint but did not get a response from the hotel brand! Very disappointing service, would not recommend nor return!

We booked 2 rooms torn sheets, the other room stinks, carpet has not been vacuumed in either room. Front desk staff amazing.

Terrible customer service. Room not ready at check in time. Staff said we could swap you but house keeping are doing the larger rooms you will just have to wait. Then requested late check out. Website states not a problem to check out at 12. Staff declined even after me complaining that I can’t check in on time so I would like a later check out. Rude staff and worst service I’ve experienced.

Rooms was clean. Queen size room the bed was uncomfortable and noisey. Reception staff were helpful.

Lift broke down during our stay, bit of a hassle going up & down stairs l, especially if you're staying on the 3rd floor.
Small rooms & was a bit of an effort to get the out of date TV to work.
Parking is off site, like around the corner.

Where do I start?
Well if someone paid for my room I wouldn't stay there.
Check the mattresses next time. The carpets and upholstery smell.

We couldn't wait to get out of the place!
I wanted to surprise my partner for his birthday, when I saw the pictures and saw boats and water, I figured it was near there. No. Was in the middle of town, oh not to worry, we walked to the Strand. The state of the room, well what a joke. The staff didn't even ask how the stay was. If they had of, I would have given them an earful. The lobby smelt and the lifts stunk and were filthy. The level we were at was also had a unclean smell. There was that much dust on the plastic plants we thought they were white leaves. Our room, well I left pictures. Only thing I couldn't show you was the smell, not very pleasant at all, just a cheap ass run down hotel. Need better management with an eye for wanting to impress stayers, not just take money and not have a decent upkeep of quality cleanliness!
☹️☹️The pictures they have on their site. Don't even take any notice of them, they must have been from when they were first ever built! Place needs health inspectors to go look!

The room was DIRTY, very Discraceful. There was dust on everything. The phone did not work work. The air con was only a box air con (not like pictures) the bed looked like it had been pulled back.
THe carpet was stained and the elevator was also stained and looked liked vomet from the night before. WE
left after 15 minutes of being there and have not received a refund. Do nogi!

Not much to say frankly. This hotel needs to work on what it advertises and actually delivers. Just disgusting.

Television not working, only street parking, the heated swimming pool is out of order.

Would not give us family room we booked. Ended up with two double rooms. No cutlery. Only 1 spoon between the two rooms. And no batteries in remotes for tv.

Staff were friendly and the room was adequate. However we booked through Bookings. Com. It clearly stated in the facility section that parking was available. When we got there we were informed that parking was offsite, in the next street, and would cost an extra $15. This was not secure parking either.
The parking situation should be made clear, so people can make an informed choice when booking.

Great place to stay. Rooms are comfortable and staff is amazing. Huge thanks to staff member Amy. She was amazing at making me feel comfortable and welcomed.

Comfortable room specially if you are coming with a baby. The reception were nice and everything is close. Superclean.

No onsite parking which is not great for a hotel.

We stayed on the top floor where we had no warm/hot water the entire time. The room had no windows/belony so the room was beyond dusty and stunk and having asthma it just was not suitable.

No fridge. Off site parking advertised as secure for $15. Then when get there is just a outdoor Carpark with a boom gate no more secure than the street parking. Rooms are not looking like advertised photo. Quite run down. Rooms are spacious.

Always appreciate the location, in the city, walking distance to city related things. Rooms have plenty of space. Staff always nice.

Nice clean room, a little out dated but comfortable, would give more stars but parking cost extra and was off site.

Room was small neat & tidy. Old building but rooms had a makeover & bathroom quite nice. Lighting in the room was very dark & no lighting to read in bed.

Clean, neat and the beds are comfy. It’s also central to everything. I’ll be back.

We actually stayed here twice in a span of a week. Not a fan tbh — due to the construction site next door, we were lucky to smell sewage for most of our stay and hear construction noises as early as 6am. Parking in this hotel is ridiculous — 15 bucks a night to use the parking lot that is off site or park on the street from 5pm until 9am for free. Paid parking between 9AM and 5 PM. The rooms are poorly lit and very dated, and there is very little in the way of bed linen during winter! The reception staff were lovely and efficient and they would be my only positive takeaway.

It’s not to bad fairway out from ferry access the staff are great the room are clean be helpful if there was a microwave in the room the pool not heated but it’s not that cold either.

Parking is free near the hotel. The staff is very helpful and rooms are super comfortable.

Very decent given the price I had to pay for the room. Nothing fancy and nothing to complain about.

Conveniently located with clean rooms and friendly staff. The cafe for breakfast and lunch is good.

Get better stuff members maybe that actually know how to do there job! and probably a micawave in the rooms. But all in all was still shit!

Spent a lot of time on the footpath having a smoke. I knew it was a non smoking hotel however! Could have stayed up the road for $10 more where they have a balcony off the room where I could have smoked. Other hotel had secure parking and I had to pay extra $15 dollars a day to park my car a block away!

Look this place is not the flashiest hotel but if you are after a room and bed to sleep in this this fits the bill. The rooms are a bit weird with stairs and 5cm level changes in the kitchenette and then the bathroom which is not good late at night with no lights. The hotel is central and it is clean and tidy. Only gripe is getting the AC to cool down the room.

Great service, Friendly staff & great location. I would recommend some greenery in the pool area and spruce it up to match the rooms but other than that we had a great stay. Thanks.

Absolutely fantastic service from my initial booking on a popular website. I had questions they were answered promptly and honestly by Paige, even going above and beyond, Paige had a list ready for me upon checking in re my transport options around town. TY Paige. The hotel is boutique, exceptional service at check in (even late at night) TY Jodie. The room was spacious and well appointed, very comfortable and far exceeded my expectations. Congratulations to management and staff. I would happily and highly recommend staying at Madison Plaza Townsville.

Sorry got parking fees wrong it was $15.00 a night extra, the $45.00 was for 3nights.

This hotel is beautiful the pictures are the same as the actual hotel staff are very friendly and helpful and room attendance were very polite and happy thanks for a great weekend.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Rooms are nicely decorated, although there was a down light hanging out of the ceiling in my room.

We got a nice queen room at $86/night, and it was very clean and beautiful. The staff was also very friendly. I would give it five stars, except we were limited to 1GB of free Wi-Fi per device, so it made it difficult to get everything done that we needed to. More internet usage was available for purchase.

Cheap and cheerful. It's not 5 star but it's comfortable enough for an overnight stay. Walking distance to some good bars and the cowboys footy club. Only issue I had was that I couldn't connect my Chromebook to the Wi-Fi.

No parking, shower was terrible, pool was a sad sorry room with no soul and burnt my eyes. Only had international roast coffee, which I hate.

Really friendly staff great location and great price. Shower was AMAZING! Room size was average but 5star for the price. Soft bed and nice soft sheets were also a nice change to the average hotel. I would definitely recommend for anyone wanting a hotel for short stays.

Haven't had an opportunity to stay. Jessi is a LIAR! Said she would honour rate and when the changes go to get made, goes back on her word. The people have a right to know that the management don't know how to do their job. It's not rocket science. I was told by numerous people how bad this place is. I thought I would give it a try due to the promised cheap rate. Now the rate has doubled and Jessi goes back on her word. I will tell everyone and advertise everywhere I can that you shouldn't stay at the Chifley. Go to the Holiday Inn! At least they refurbish and re-paint there walls!

The Chifley Plaza Hotel is affordable, comfortable, and is in a prime location.  The staff, were extremely helpful and friendly. The room itself was clean, but was showing a few signs of wear on some doors which had only been painted over, but for the budget price, it was well worth it. The newly renovated living area was spacious, and furnished with comfortable chairs, and beds. The toilet and bathroom were also newly renovated and resembled that of a modern, premium hotel. All areas were clean and tidy. Overall it was comfortable and an enjoyable experience,  the continental buffet breakfast had a very nice spread, with delightful fruits, which made the stay all the more pleasant. Being in Townsville's CBD shops and services are only a sort walk away, and combined with the cheap price, it is well worth looking into placing a booking at the Chifley plaza, if your planning to pass through Townsville.

Shanna (Blonde Girl) on front counter was absolutely RUDE. Will NOT recommend this place to anyone after dealing with her spiteful attitude. All the other staff were lovely but she was HORRIBLE. She has left a nasty taste and I will let everyone I know about her DISGUSTING manner. She shouldn't be working with customers!

It was absolutely wonderful. This hotel was the best I have ever been in. It's a shame that I had to leave. I would go to it again. Free Wi-Fi was also the best.

I stayed 8 nights here recently. The hotel does not look as good in real life as it does in pictures but was a lot better than what I expected it to be after reading previous reviews. Staff are very friendly. Close to tourist attractions.
