Nice rooms, location bit tricky to get, but nice area, has a restauran and bar next door, breakfast from 6am. Good service.

Nice rooms/apartments. Swimming pool not so great. A little secluded location. Downtown about 20 minutes walk… Nice Apartment.

Very good value for money. My mate and I were very happy with the size room and it was very spacious and comfortable. Good food. And also good choice of restaurants on the same street. Also very picturesque. Recommend it. I'll be staying here again.

Walking distance to CBD, nice city, Magnetic Island and ocean view, clean, helpful staff. if you like running challenging to go to Kiss Point which makes 10k, has all utilities for cooking and enjoy the view in your balcony quietly. Room size is quite enough for couple and heaps of place if you are solo. It is at the far end of road so going back at late could be a bit disturbing, except that all good.

Moral of the story stay with a good brand so when an issues happens you are well treated and well compensated! Issues do happen however it is not the customers responsibility to accept all liability, if something breaks and it can't be fixed instantly do not accept any alternative you are not 100% happy with here, or the hotel manager will basically tell you that it's not their problem after check out. Long story short we stopped here on our long drive from Port Douglas to Byron Bay as we had washing we needed done and thought the facilities fit our purpose. We had a late check-in and got back to the room to finishing washing about 9:30pm when we noticed the dryer was broken, obviously extremely inconvenient. The only option given was to use another rooms dryer which was right down the hall through 3 locked doors. Not great but it was late by the time all this happened and we needed our clothes to be dry before our 7am start and another long drive the next day so accepted this as we had no choice. Next day our check-out was quick, no apologies for the issues and when we brought it up were told to write an email to management. We did this straight away asking for compensation for having to drag our washing across a whole floor of their hotel which was absolutely disgraceful and definitely not what we paid for. It would have been easier to stay somewhere else and just use a laundromat. Ergo the room was not fit for our purposes.

The staff are amazing. I stuffed up the dates on my booking and they got everything sorted, then rhe next day we had car trouble and had to stay an unplanned night. They helped once again. The room was huge with balcony full size fridge, microwave, washer dryer, big bath room. Best service I've ever experienced.

Nice quiet location at end of Palmer St. Others are in middle of restaurants so mice yo be a bit away from the fray.

Just the double doors was a problem — loud and associates couldn't knock on your actual door. But everything else was great. Balcony, washing machine a welcome bonus.

Must have purchased recently and added to oaks portfolio. View was nice and the hotel reception was friendly but room is not the most amazing. I would look for another place next time but if the price was cheap, I might consider.

The rooms are always clean, the decor is modern and the staff are always helpful, courteous and smiling.

This is an OK stay for a business trip. Rooms have basic cooking and laundry facilities. TV is full Free to Air quality, including HD channels — none of that Foxtel degraded quality which seeks to get to watch their movies and other pay TV rubbish. You can even get it off those horrible oversaturated colour settings and get a natural lighting look to the picture.

I've stayed here many times and have not had a bad experience. The staff are friendly and attentive, the rooms are spotless clean and very quiet. Walking distance to many restaurants and pubs and only minutes from the city centre.

I had an interview at Oaks M, and accidentally went to the Oaks (both on Palmer). The staff there told me it was only a few hundred meters down the road. I ran, in heels, nearly a kilometer down the road in the middle of the day. Maybe you just rename it Hotel M on Palmer…

Good selection on the menu which is well priced. Lunch will often find you surrounded by a group using the meeting rooms. But still a great place for a nice lunch close to the water.

Very nice rooms, beds a little hard. Difficult to find the entry down a driveway behind the restaurant.

Great family accomodation with kitchenette and laundry facilities within the rooms, will definitely be staying again.

The room smelled of mound and damp (even though it was the dry season and hadn't reined for weeks). There was 2cm of dust and dirt around the skirting board where the vacuum hadn't got to. My room overlooked a rusty roof. Would not revisit.

Huge clean room, jam packed with every electrical appliance you could think of. I had no problem with noise whatsoever. Great location, great hotel.

We asked for a quiet room. We were given one overlooking the goods terminal for the port and listened to trains shunting all night. We got a total of about 6 hours sleep over two nights. The doors are very noisy and you hear every one slamming. We had to leave early as one of us was injured (nothing to do with the hotel). No refund. The best offer they could manage was to come back later for the remainder of the time we had booked. We have no reason to return to Townsville and if we did we would not stay there anyway. Stay away. I'm sure there are better options.

Location is in a quite area (about 10 min walk) from town. Nice clean and quiet until your neighbours arrive home. I stayed 4 nights and 3 of these nights I had people next door. I could not here them thru the walls but it was the very, very heavy doors that they have. A little different to what I have seen before. You need to enter thru 1 door then enter into your room. Therefore you and your neighbour share the first door. Excellent security but the doors are that heavy that they SLAM and slam twice As we all know no one else gives their damn slamming. I mentioned this to reception but they know as people sometimes complain. I would not say again for this reason. A+ for the room features.

Oaks on Palmer is a fantastic escape for a weekend away. The service is impecable and is of great enjoyment. The rooms are also well maintained and are extremely relaxing environments. This is one of the best Hotels you will find in North Queensland.

Oaks M on Palmer The rooms are spacious, or would be if you were a dog fond of dog boxes. Though I did like how I could fill the dishwasher and empty the fridge from the comfort of bed. Similarly, I performed all my ablutions from the one spot, the toilet, shaving and showering included. Those shower hoses are most handy. The rooms are quiet if you allow for the ever present ruckus of the coal terminus just down the busy road, and railway track. Still, the midnight rumble and shriek of coal trains, ushered through the adjacant crossing by jangling bells, was ever so romantic. The hotel is well located, right in the boondocks, far from the annoying hubbub of the many pubs and eateries at the other end of the road. Still, it's only a ten minute stroll up and a 20 minute stagger back. As a photosensitive albino I very much appreciated the pool. Hidden from the sun (but not the sharp scrutiny of reception), this treeless, loungeless, cold and wet pit attracted only the staunchest athletes and the UV radiation shy. The service is notable though, primarily for its absence or, if provided, its attitude. I didn't see the housekeeping staff, ever, but I'm sure they have a better client service ethos than the front of house crew. They must have.
