Really nice, great view. Lovely staff.

Outdated room. Only shower curtain no cubicle. Certainly not worth the money. Instead of room being ready at 2.00 was not available till 4.00pm. Extremely disappointed.

Feels luxurious to stay in a historic building. Beautiful fit out in the room, great service, fantastic location.

Fantastic function centre and staff! So organised and accommodating! Food is amazing! Highly recommended!

There are lots of great restaurants nearby. Five minutes away you can walk to the bridge by the river and see the night view and the street view is a great experience.

Food was great and the experience was made even better by the attention to detail and warm service by Yasmine. Will be back again!

This hotel is so old and in dire need of renovation. Strong smell of bleach in the bathroom for the first two days, had to leave the window wide open to get rid of it. Weird little louvre underneath the window that allowed outside noises in, so couldn’t even sleep without waking up to the sound of street racers or random bangs.

Place is looking a little tired but rooms are comfortable and clean. Bed was nice and soft but pillows are a little hard. Staff friendly. I used this hotel for work and I would return. Great location with lots of restaurants close by.

Enjoyed our stay at Rydges Southbank Townsvillevery much. Executive Suite very comfortable. Compliments to the breakfast chef, also had a couple of dinners at Southbank Grill, very nice. Thanks very much.

Good room, great view and location. Front counter staff friendly. Housekeeping a little loose but everything was clean.

Very courteous and very helpful reception. The Southbank Grill was very good. The room was dated; but it was very clean upon arrival, and well-cleaned over the course of my stay.

Great customer service and quality food for Bufet. My Sis and I have been there couple times now and the friendly staff, two in particular but I didn't grab their names, is what keeps me coming back. 5/5Stars.

Oh no, what a shame… although reception staff was lovely and really tried to fix the issues it seems there was the next after the next. The first room I was booked in had a very (I mean VERY! ) noisy aircon, so lovely reception staff moved me to a different room after 2 attempts, with one of the rooms being occupied which seemed to not been in the system — strange! Finally I moved in and found that the room was not overly clean (noted hair on carpet and dirt in the bathroon) but was a little sick of reporting so I kept quite. I also noted that the door required and extra push to close which I thought wouldnt be a huge issue. Unfortunately the following afternoon after a day at work, I found my room door left open (i assume by the cleaners) which I found quite concerning, however I was lucky and all my belongings were at its place. My company booked this hotel for me and I probably will asked them to book elsewhere next time. Pro: Reception staff and food was lovely!

Good facilities for the price we payed to stay. A little Older in style late 80s maybe early 90s theme, but $250 for two nights, complimentary buffet breakfast for my family of 5, and kind and helpfull staff on hand it was bargain! I'd happily stay again for that price.

Good room, clean tidy, but restaurant closed for dinner. Not enough staff to look after guests for breakfast, had to wait for additional food.

Room is dated and very ordinary at best. A very old bathroom and small. The queen bed was a double at best and so soft that my wife had to sleep on the floor as it was affecting her back quiet badly. Have 2 nights booked but will be looking to check out early. Great location.

What a beautiful wedding celebration we experienced at Rydges. The staff were so helpful and obliging.

Stayed for 4 nights recently, very disappointing. Tiles in bathroom sticky. On the second day our room was left unlocked by cleaner. New towels supplied but dirty ones left in bathroom. Can of deodorant spray was left in bathroom by previous occupant, showing us the room wasn't cleaned properly. The tidy bin was emptied but liner was not replaced.

Clean and tidy. Nice people at the front desk, they are always happy to help.

Sunrise from my window. And a meal in the restaurant were both satisfying. It's a good central location surrounded by bars and restaurants. I liked the idea of not getting my room cleaned and made up every day and getting $10 off my food and drinks.

Hotel located on Southbank of Townsville with restaurant on site and other restaurants easy walking distance nearby. As well as main hotel there also serviced apartments located separately next street over. These are spacious & fully equipped with kitchen laundry etc. Pool onsite as well with parking onsite.

My husband and I have been lots of times and always go for the fillet steak. Wednesday evening 21st February we took some friends who were over from the UK. We all went for the eye fillet as we told them it is the best we have come across in Townsville. They were not disappointed. Excellent once again and the staff very friendly. Yasmin remembered us from other times and once again went all out to make our evening special. Thank you to all the staff for a great night.

As stated by others the rooms are showing signs of age but my room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is also in a good location and staff were friendly, oh and it had a good iron in the room which is often overlooked.

3 and a half star hotel strategically located in the heart of Townsville. Really comfy bed with almost no street noise. Breakfast Buffet provided while not spectacular but still decent enough to satisfy most palates. Service at the reception was warm and courteous too, befitting a hotel of 3 to 4 stars. Located within walking distance to many restaurants and bars. They even have complimentary on site covered parking. An easy recommendation if you can get a good deal online.

Love staying here always a have a great time staying here. Rooms are always well kept an reasonably priced. Family friendly aswell.

Amazing! Could not speak highly enough of the staff! We were travelling for christmas and had an issue with our transport on Christmas eve, we were stressing out on what to do and the lovely receptionist Peta made everything so much easier she helps us work everything out, made the whole ordeal much easier! She was the best Christmas present we could of asked for! Because of her we get to spend christmas with our family! Thank you thank you Peta!

The bathroom sink had hair in it. There was no hot water, could not adjust the air conditioning temperature. The bathroom badly needs needs work.

No problems with my stay. Free to air TV in broadcast quality, good view from my room.

The location and views are amazing, seeing the mountain side and the city view together. The rooms are fairly small and appear to be old. Dust settles in between the grooves of tables and chairs. Overall it was pretty nice to stay a few nights.

Although small, its very hospitable. And services are very helpful.

We went there for my b'day dinner… dinner was amazing service kinda slack took forever to take our drink order then we finally ordered… no one asked us after a couple of min. How our food was… would only come back because of food not their service!

Totally ordinary room. Very much in need of a makeover. Took me back in time. Very friendly staff. Very dusty. Nice pool area. Very expensive guest laundry. $8 for self wash and dry. Too much.

Had a professional development meeting with roughly 20 people. Conference room was excellent as were the provided refreshments.

Great quality/price are relatively well located. The staff are all extra friendly and helpful and the rooms are ample and clean — you have the option of skipping cleaning service for a bar/drinks discount coupon. Buffet breakfast are delicious, with plenty of options. We didn't do much use of the open pool (area) but it was good, even in winter.

Rooms are a bit tired. Wifi is pretty steady and genuinely unlimited. Food is good albeit a bit limited in range, but at least they have room service unlike nearby accommodation.

South Townsville's dinning strip is relatively limited when it comes to breakfast choices. However, Rydges Southbank do a good spread for a reasonable price (Full breaky for three = $75). Really enjoyed the garlic mushrooms with my eggs & bacon.

"FAMOUS FOR OUR STEAKS" yells the sign. Well I got a badly cooked, tough, stringy, small steak last night, take the sign down! Slow service from 2 overworked staff, just hotel quality, limited menu, nice looking sides but not really nice — like the roasted pumpkin. The mash was good as was the selection of wines & beers but why did I ever believe that a Rydges hotel could match the quality of the IMC Steakhouse?

Stayed in the hotel and went for valentines dinner last night. Have been here before and loved it however unfortunately last night was quite a disappointment. There was a few issues that I had. 1. The valentines day menu was $60pp however was just taken off your normal al a Carte menu, when I did the pricing it was actually cheaper to order the exact same thing off your normal menu than to go with your '3 course special'. 2. Decided on the chicken only to be told they had ru…n out of the chicken … at 730 at night. Ok fine decided on the steak. Only to be told there was 1 piece of rump left. Ok cool so u dont have my 1st order or my 2nd order. Went for the scotch fillet. 3. Our mains came out without our entree plates being cleared. 4. Ordered both our steaks medium rare. Mine came way over cooked. Sent it back, granted they were lovely about it. 2nd steak came back probably at a medium, not a medium rare. But who cares. By this stage I had filled up on my chips and gave up. Might I mention it took 10 minutes for us to flag someone and 3 'excuse mes' to even be able to send it back. 4. We were there an hour and half and only got water when we arrived at the table and offered drinks when we were sat down. 5. The poor waitresses were so busy, and I was bored waiting for my steak so I sat back and watched they literally were just chucking down plates at people and running.

Room was suitable, breakfast buffet was small and expensive. Service at the hotel was good. Location is good.

Room was clean and large, well maintained. Price was affordable and good value. The staff were what made it great! Very helpful. The breakfasts were good value. Danyelle in the restaurant was helpful and friendly and makes a very good coffee :)

We have been staying at Rydges Townsville over the last 3 Years. We are locals and it's the perfect getaway. Home away from home. It's Always a lovely Stay. Thanks to Sally The receptionist. Accommodation is always great, breakfasts in the mornings are always lovely but the staff are always the best part. From the lady's in the restaurant interacting with my little princess (she got a tiara for christmas) and us, to the staff on front desk, it's just what it should be. Nothing beats old fashioned great customer service.

I have a gluten and dairy intolerance and they went out of their way to accommodate me. It was very wonderful to go out for dinner and be able to eat. Plus the food was lovely! The pork belly entrée was just ridiculously delicious. Thanks guys for putting in such an effort with my food intolerances and still making the food amazing.

Stayed here a couple of times the room for the price was adequate. Needs to be refurbished and brought to the present age. However, the bed was comfortable. The staff very formal and professional but not warm and welcoming. The location to the city and taxi rank right up front makes it very convenient.

I often stay here because it's extremely convenient. I generally arrive quite late and leave early the next morning. The restaurant is closed Sunday night and everything else around closes between 9.300 and 10.00pm It's a pain to get something tov eat. The rooms are tired, especially bathrooms, but serviceable. The beds comfortable. Noise is not a problem. My contact with staff is minimal but they are invariably helpful and pleasant. Tariff is reasonable.

Stayed Sunday night. Off street parking is great. Great location. Outdated bathroom but clean and tidy room. Really comfortable bed and pillows. Nice shower but very loud plumbing. Have dined at restaurant previously — divine! Closed Sundays.

By agreeing to host a 2015 anti-vaccine tour of Australia, the Rydges Hotels chain is directly profiteering from the spread of false claims about vaccines, likely resulting in misery, and in extreme cases easily preventable death, of infants and children. Such misinformation is a clear menace to public health and safety, and in my opinion those benefiting from it are no better than those evangelising it. As such I will be avoiding the venue in future travels and suggest you consider doing the same (unless and until they reverse their stance).

I always love staying at Rydges South Bank Townsville, friendly staff, convenient parking, great restaurant, and the most comfy bed out of all the hotels I stay in. Thanks Guy's Regards Leon.

Booked a hotel room, on arrival I was allocated an apartment a block away because a function had made a group booking. When asked about room service or mini bar the answer was we can't do that for apartments. A pretty basic requirement for hotels and a fundamental reason for choosing a hotel over an apartment I would have thought and would have changed my hotel booking if I was advised of this prior to arriving.

We stayed 3 nights and it did the job. A little outdated but clean and tidy. The restaurant is amazing, and the staff really made the stay. We'd go back.

This hotel is 10 years overdue for a full fit out. Only one lift (sometimes nil) working during stay. Rooms are in back need of modernising. Strange air vent system that lets all bad smells from outside in. Desk service average, restaurant ok, mini bar good. Does not deserve four star rating unless some work is done sooon.
