Review of Rydges Southbank Townsville 3*

Stayed in the hotel and went for valentines dinner last night. Have been here before and loved it however unfortunately last night was quite a disappointment. There was a few issues that I had. 1. The valentines day menu was $60pp however was just taken off your normal al a Carte menu, when I did the pricing it was actually cheaper to order the exact same thing off your normal menu than to go with your '3 course special'. 2. Decided on the chicken only to be told they had ru…n out of the chicken … at 730 at night. Ok fine decided on the steak. Only to be told there was 1 piece of rump left. Ok cool so u dont have my 1st order or my 2nd order. Went for the scotch fillet. 3. Our mains came out without our entree plates being cleared. 4. Ordered both our steaks medium rare. Mine came way over cooked. Sent it back, granted they were lovely about it. 2nd steak came back probably at a medium, not a medium rare. But who cares. By this stage I had filled up on my chips and gave up. Might I mention it took 10 minutes for us to flag someone and 3 'excuse mes' to even be able to send it back. 4. We were there an hour and half and only got water when we arrived at the table and offered drinks when we were sat down. 5. The poor waitresses were so busy, and I was bored waiting for my steak so I sat back and watched they literally were just chucking down plates at people and running. They were dripping in sweat and unfortunately because they were so busy they failed to make our night special and their attitude made us enjoy it even less I understand that it was a busy night, however I watched couples wait 10+ mins to be sat or to pay. I watched one couple behind us give up and walk in and sit at a dirty table and start packing up the dishes themselves. We would have liked to have dessert however we weren't offered the dessert menu and I gave up trying to flag someone down. We ended up walking to another restaurant just for dessert.
