Nice outside dining — lovely spot at the top of town on the green. Attentive staff and delicious food.

It was my daughters 21st bd meal on the 23/1 and I can honestly say we had a fabulous meal. It was quite possibly one of the easiest birthday transaction I have ever had. I would highly recommend The Fleece not just for its outstanding food, but also for the atmosphere and the lovely lovely staff. Ty so so much.

Pit stop chill out. Sat outside overlooking the Green. Really nice. Great service with upbeat and friendly staff. I only had mini honey and mustard sausages and a side of hand-cut fries…. But this was not your usual sausage and chips! Really Yum. The menu was extensive…. And everyone’s food coming out looked fab……. So I look forward to returning to try more. Great non-alcoholic Mojito too.

Just spent two nights at the Fleece, we had such a lovely time. Room was lovely, so clean, food was exceptional and every person that looked after us was so helpful and polite. Nothing was too much trouble. Would completely reccomend this lovely place. Can’t wait to come back.

What a find! We have just had 2 fantastically memorable nights staying at The Fleece. The service we received from booking to staying was exceptional. The team at The Fleece were attentive and went the extra mile to make sure we had a comfortable stay. A special thank you goes to Angus, Ultimate Mike and Dean for their hospitality!
We had dinner each night at The fleece as we were so impressed by the standard and quality of the food on the first night, that it seemed silly to go anywhere else.
We will be back to stay and eat again!

Been hanging out here for over 24 hours waiting for a flight out of Raf Brize Norton. I have been attended to by all the staff like an old friend. Great food and dining experience, great atmosphere, great room. Thank you!

Absolutely shocking… literally just walked out. Very poor service from staff who seemingly weren’t bothered. Had to wait for 45mins for a pre-booked table only to then wait over 1 hour before mains that still did not to come. When we asked for a member to come over, he said he’d be over in a minute only to ignore us and walk back to the bar. Suffice to say that was the final straw. Even when we left the staff seemingly couldn’t have cared a less. Unless you fancy toiling away an afternoon waiting for food that won’t appear, I wouldn’t bother going.

Good quality food and great live music. We stayed over night in the family room — it was a bit tired and noisy when punters visited the outside smoking area. Breakfast was included in the price and that was great value. There's a lounge feel to the pub/ restaurant — a mix of the old and the contemporary. Staff are attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend The Fleece.

We've been here to eat and try their winter taster menus. It was really nice and cosy. The food was beautiful and I ate things I usually wouldn't. The staff are really nice and the chef came out to talk to us about the food. Will definitely be back.

Staff very helpful good menu Recommend the Whitebait also the Lemon Posset with Shortbread excellent. With A Pint of Peroni sat outside in the sun make it. The wine list looked to have a good Choice next time.

We ordered whitetail from the bar snacks menu. £4 buys you 8 whitebait. That's 50p a whitebait. The staff did not ask (care? ) If it was ok when they took our food away, perhaps through embarrasment. Bloody Mary is £9. Perhaps you think that is reasonable and in that case this 'pub' is for you… otherwise, avoid.

We went to The Fleece after the St. George's day parade. The staff were very friendly, helpful, it was a joy. We had dinner in the oven, but we will return for lunch, without a doubt. We saw food being served it looked delicious and were debating whether to go home and turn off the oven.

Had dinner there tonight, our drinks were forgotten about on 2 Separate occasions, I had taken in birthday cakes for my mum, I slyly asked for them when we were ordering coffee and was told they were coming, coffee was made and drank before we had to ask again for the cake, by this point my mum had caught on. Menu was small choice, I had the sweet potato gnocchi, what arrived was a plate of sweet potato that had been roasted with sweet potato wedges. Wouldn’t rush back there. Edited: we had a fantastic 3 course meal, excellent food and wonderful staff… we will be back.

I went here for a date on a chilly night and the atmosphere was cozy and comfortable with candles on the tables and warm lighting. The food prices are a bit high considering the portion sizes, but I had a fantastic risotto that I would highly recommend. Friendly wait staff and bar tenders.

Shockingly slow service today! As I've previously had excellent experiences eating at The Fleece, I decided to treat my family to lunch there today. I was so disappointed! Sadly, the service was incredibly slow, even though it wasn't even that busy today. As we arrived at 12.30, we thought we we would have plenty of time for two courses before we had to leave at 2pm and so we opted for the Set Menu (about £13 for two courses: main and dessert). However, after bring seated, it then took the waitresses about 20 minutes to come back to take our food order. After we'd finished eating our main course, it took them a further 20 minutes to bring us some dessert menus but they did not come back to take our order. Another 20 minutes later, when I went to the bar to request the bill, I explained that we had not been able to order any desserts because the service was so slow, and reasonably and politely asked if our £13 a head bill could be adjusted. I was told — without any apology whatsoever — that it could not. At the very least, I would have expected our soft drinks to be deducted. I am so disappointed and will think twice before recommending The Fleece to local friends again in future. Frankly, I am feeling quite fleeced by today's experience!

My girlfriend and I recently stayed at The Fleece and were not disappointed. With a wedding to go to near by, we required a place to accommodate us within easy reach of the venue but where we could also find some escape to make the 2 night break a pleasant one. The Fleece is ideal, it's location is stunning as a small typically English town square. We were welcomed upon arrival and shown to our room which was a great size with excellent sized bathroom. The hotel is extremely clean and the service both at the bar and at breakfast were more than we'd expected. Food is excellent, and for the £10 per person per breakfast, this came across as very reasonable as the full English with locally sourced meat was perfect. The menu is varied, the service efficient. Upon leaving, we explained we would likely head via Blenheim Palace near-by, the staff member checking us out recommended where to walk and upon taking his advice, had a great day around the Palace Gardens. From start to finish, every element of the Fleece impressed us. Would certainly stay again.

Nice little place to go for some food. They've got a nice selection of hot and cold pies. Often have a quartet playing in the gravelled garden on the weekends.

Passing through Witney we stopped here for Sunday lunch. Food was very good and excellent service. Would recommend.

One of my favourite places to eat. Went with friends for lunch today opted for the days roast which was beef, oddly it came with stuffing would much rather have had a Yorkshire pudding. That said it was very good & the chocolate mousse with raspberries & honeycomb was to die for.

I was working on my own last week near Witney with free mornings. Surprised at all the traffic passing through the centre, noise & pollution in the air, and luckily I walked towards the church as I heard its bells ringing. I saw The Fleece and decided to have a coffee and read the papers which they kindly supplied. I ended up going there every morning and on my last day I enjoyed an excellent lunch. The Fleece was something to which I looked forward each day, and when working nearby again I shall visit it daily. Free do-it-yourself toast as well with my excellent coffee and, as mentioned above, a daily paper to read — couldn't be any better.

Myself a some friends went to the fleece for breakfast over the weekend. The front of house staff were extremely polite and friendly and really helpful. We all ordered food and waited for our meals. And waited. And waited. And waited. You get the general idea, 45 minutes later it came, everyone had something missing from their plates, which were cold, as was the food, we mentioned to the waitress who was very apologetic, who went and returned with our missing black puddings and avocado in 2 minutes, all hot. It was a birthday get together so a cake had been purchased, it had been requested if one of the staff could bring the cakes out after breakfast. They did very sweetly, on a hot plate! For the price of the food in there they really need to organise themselves more. This is the second time this has happened so we won't be returning unfortunately. 5 stars to the front of house people. Service was lovely, food would of been lovely had it been hot and all there.

The Fleece is one of our family's favourite places to relax and eat in Witney. We really enjoy sharing a board with a pint in the bar area which is always nice and chilled. It is also a very nice place for a family meal / celebration in the separate restaurant area. The food is always very good… up to exceptional and is also a good price. There is also a very good selection of beers and drinks. The new online booking service is brilliant, and gave me a free drink with each main voucher after the first booking I made online. Highly recommended.

It was an early dinner, rare on our own but I can honestly say the service amazing, food great and thoroughly recommend. Fixed price meal awesome. Do your arteries some harm the camembert to die for literally. Delicious.

4 of us had the roast dinner on mothers day this yr and was disappointed at the portion sizes and the cost for what you get, the roast potatoes seemed warmed up and only a few but to be fair they gave us extra, pork was ok but lamb was tough and grisly, glad I didnt have to pay for it, service was a bit slow but ok.

Stayed one night at The Fleece last minute booking and Duncan was really helpful even though dealing with a busy Saturday night as well! The room was large clean bed linen and room, very large bathroom a little cold in the morning. The breakfast was excellent porridge maple syrup followed by boiled eggs and sour dough toast. Plenty of tea and coffee. No noise in the room at all even though gastro pub very busy. Also has its own car park. Excellent value for money would highly recommend.

Popped along here for a Saturday lunch. There were tables available and the food was stunning. Service a little slow but the food is worth the wait.

Witney is lucky to have this fantastic gastropub. The food is of consistently high quality at reasonable prices, and the service is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is always lively without being rowdy, and is clearly popular with the locals. Special offers and mid-week events entice you to visit often.
