We visited for a wedding yesterday and it was so lovely. The food was fabulous, staff great and our room was lovely.

Lovely atmosphere and nice staff, but, very expensive drinks.

Tasty food in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere.

Second time we have stayed here. Really good location in Market Square. Great food and lovely staff who are really friendly and helpful.

We booked an evening function for our wedding. Very nice staff. Food was lovely and function room was a perfect size.

Complacent establishment relying on a good reputation
Visited this evening for a meal with my son who believed that this was a great place to take his Mum Asked for menus and requested to eat in 30 — 60 minutes as we hadn't booked. We were reasured by rather disinterested bar staff that would be ok and given menus
When we went into the restaurant were told that it was fully booked but could eat in the bar.
Accepted this and waited in the bar for the bar staff to take our order. Again they were less than helpful. We spent £110 on a burnt garlic flatbread, steak for 2, and some drinks. I politely mentioned that the flatbread was burnt (we left half) The waitress said that their flatbread was always char grilled. The steaks were good. But apart from that we left feeling really disappointed. A level of service lacking in courtesy and worse than that we felt unwelcome.

The food was lovely and the service was good. It was midweek. However was disappointed by the Liquor Coffee (Baileys) was very small cup and warm, not hot.

After a lovely afternoon having a drinks at the pub, I ordered two pizzas as a take away. The pub is lovely and has a great atmosphere however… The pizzas were two pollo bianco’s with extra toppings! I was quite disappointed at the pizzas that we got, barely any chicken — on a CHICKEN pizza, and very little of the extra toppings which are £2.50 per option. The pizzas were the size that you would order for a small child. And after paying £34 for these two this is definitely not what I expected. I went to American pizza just around the corner from the pub to top up for a hungry family. I will definitely return to the pub because I think it’s a great place but will not recommend the pizzas.

The outside seating was very classy. The service was quick and the staff were very friendly. The most disappointing part was ordering halloumi chips that were £5 and when they came… we got 5 very small chips!

Lovely food. Nice atmosphere. Nice servers and a very pleasant experience. I had the vegetarian falafel and beetroot burger and the other person with me had prawn pasta. We both had deserts of sticky toffee pudding and I had the apple crumble which I had a choice of custard or ice cream which wasn’t on the menu. The staff asked if anyone had an intolerance to any foods and I said that the lady with me had a dairy intolerance. When she brought over the pudding she advised that the ice cream was dairy and would the lady be ok with it. We said yes it was fine and I was impressed that she had remembered.
The refurbishment was pleasant and cozy although we moved as I was sitting right next to a hot radiator. A very nice pub with really nice fresh food.

Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast! The bar is cosy and nice. Delicious food menu. Well located in the town centre with adequate parking space close by.

We had our work Xmas party in the function room at the Blue Boar last night. The staff were amazing, the food was delicious. The whole booking process was straight forward and the communication from them over the last few months was brilliant. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone thinking of booking a party. I’ll definitely be booking them again. Thank you for a brilliant night! 5

Lovely food and atmosphere. But very slow service, needed to prompt for every drink our table ordered! One main didn’t show up, had to hunt a member of staff to let them know! Two pizzas totally chargrilled on the bottom and had to be sent back! Truly dreadful service let’s them down so much!

We went here after a disastrous time at another restaurant that we had booked for our anniversary meal.
Thankfully that were able to fit us in and we ended up having an amazing meal and after explaining what an awful evening we had had that gave us complimentary bubbles which was a really lovely touch.
The food was amazing and the staff even better, can’t recommend this place enough.

This was our first visit to The Blue Boar. On arrival we were greeted well and all our details and documents were printed and waiting. It took 5 minutes to check in. The breakfast was very nice. The gentleman who greeted us was very efficient and polite. I would recommend The Blue Boar.

Great restaurant! Lovely accommodations. Very clean. Air Conditioning! Wonderful service. Oven fired pizza is delicious, as is all the other food!

A reasonably priced pizza ruined by a massively overpriced GLASS of wine being £11.50!
I would expect to pay this for champagne but not a supermarket Sauvignon £11.00 per bottle! Puts me off coming again. Who wants to pay £11.50 PER GLASS 200%mark up.

This is the gluten free burger, no bun, just 2 slices of bread, not a gluten free bun — pathetic attempt.

We love to eat here as a family treat, delicious fresh pizzas, and Sunday roasts are brilliant — I enjoyed a lovely Mother’s Day lunch and a free goody bag too! Staff are accommodating and very pleasant, highly recommended.

Corteous staff. Delicious (and abundant! ) food. Efficient. Clear vegetarian and vegan options. A proper burrata even! I am delighted, I wish I could eat here every day.

Rescued my family as our original booking in the area was a disaster — really went above and beyond. Gianfranco and his team’s approach was just so refreshing. Beautiful room, and the food was delicious. Kids menu was well thought out — and not a chicken nugget in sight! Hurrah! Breakfast was fresh and light but huge! Set us up for the day ahead. Thank you so much.

Nice place for lunch in the sun with the tables in the courtyard at the back. Good choice of food and friendly service Loved the salads particularly the sweet potato salad although was disappointed with the portion size. They also serve a choice of mocktails here.

Service, service, service. The staff who work here were great. Very friendly and accommodating. Bar is great and I was lucky enough to visit on a warm summer weekend so sitting outside for breakfast was nice. Room is nice, has everything you need.

Superb spot for food and drink in Whitney. Friendly staff and efficient service, pluses the food is top notch. Not the cheapest place in town granted but it is quality fare at the Blue Boar. Check it out next time you're close by. Lovely comfortable rooms too at decent rates, had a nice stay here for a friend's wedding.

A lovely place with very welcoming staff. Food is top notch and the staff always have a smile on their face. The menu has so much choic, if you can't find anything to eat then you shouldn't be eating out. I can't praise The Blue Boar enough, thank you for a lovely afternoon with my family.

Restaurant only. Had pizza which was excellent. Very nice setting. Staff were very nice. It's not a fast service place the though but there is some parking right outside.

Our local gaming group rented the function room at the rear for a meet up. The room was fantastic, comfortable, clean and with air conditioning! However the drinks are very expensive (par for the course for the centre of Witney), £3.30 for a pint of lemonade.

Excellent place to eat. My grandson was fascinated watching the pizzas being made. Good food. Great staff and good atmosphere. If eat here again.

Warm family pub and restaurant. Serves alcohol free beer. Food looks tasty. Nice rustic but sassy almost trendy ambiance. Restrooms clean. Wheelchair accessible and friendly — wheelchair restrooms available.? also a hotel.

Lovely Inn, decent restaurant serving a good selection of food. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Perfect location in the town centre of Witney.

Haven't been here for a couple of years; went on a Tuesday evening. The bar and restaurant have been revamped within the last year or so. More seating has been provided in both areas, but the alcoves in the restaurant have gone which is a bit of a shame. However, the menu is greatly improved and includes freshly cooked pizzas (which are very good! ) Staff are friendly and accommodating There is plenty of car parking nearby (which is free of charge) and the buses stop right outside if you need them. Would recommend.

Wonderful decor. Great food and good booze at a good price. Customer service is good too. Suitable for a quick drink or a long evening.

Everything I hoped for after a long drive and a busy day. Food and service perfect, staff friendly and efficient. My only small problem was the fire exit light in the room which was too bright and for me at least made sleeping difficult. Apart from that, great stay, Thanks to all, I will comeback.

Lovely place, very warm and inviting with faultless staff and attention to detail. The only things stopping a 10 score are lack of parking, warm room fridge and no wardrobe. Would highly recommend the Blue Boar and I will be staying there again definitely! A genial card trick playing barman also helps when serving a £4.60. Per pint drink.

Had a warm and friendly welcome from the bar staff on arrival. Settled into a seating area near the pizza oven and embarked on a marathon catch up with a friend — we were then presented with a complimentary cheesy garlic bread to share by the pizza man who said we looked so happy to be catching up! A thoughtful and generous offer and we will head back soon.

This place ruined my Christmas, depressing rooms, pre-clogged toilet. EXTREMELY slow food service and when it did finally arrive the quality seemed less than OK. The eggs tasted like cheese somehow. Low quality I don't mind however on this occasion the price was absurd. Please find somewhere else to stay, I personally recommend premier inn.

Visited on Christmas Eve around 5pm. Nice cozy atmosphere. Log burner. Good choice of seating. Ordered hot chocolates which came with free croissants! The chocolate was luke warm, but tasted good.

Good location in the centre of witney. Went in for drinks on a Friday evening, reasonably priced and a good selection. Good service from the staff despite being busy. Very nice place and warm atmosphere.

Excellent service cheerful helpful staff with a highly efficient bar manager. The food was great and I would definitely return. There was a local group singing which added a Christmas zeitgeist and made for a highly enjoyable evening. Five stars!

Decent selection of beers. Now much more accommodating for children, the kids menu is available for the whole day. Great pizzas from the wood fired pizza oven. Food from the main menu is excellent also.

I have really enjoyed the pizza there. The wood burning pizza oven makes the pizza nice and crispy and combined with the high quality ingredients it really is a treat. Definitely will be visiting again.

Unfortunately the birthday lunch on Saturday was rather disappointing! Service very slow, waited over an hour for starters to appear. 2 mushroom starters were not as described on menu, very poor for £7 each. Bacon on burger meal was cremated. No gluten free roll with other burger meal was available, only bread. Also, one of my daughters visited the week before on a Friday evening with 2 friends. The 3 meals were very disappointing! We thought this may have been a one off and as we had already booked for Saturday lunch, we thought to reserve judgement and give it another try. Very disappointing all round, especially as we have had very nice meals there in the past even tho a bit expensive. We will not be going again for awhile until they get their act together.

The food at the blue boar is very very good. the rooms are beautiful. Beds comfortable. The staff are amazing understanding and accommodating. they need to work on the sound proofing for the first room we went in has an extractor fan running right next to it the second room we could hear the music from the bar until the bar closed. there was what looked little bits of superrors noodle under the bed and one very dry and dirty looking bit of soap bar behind the bathroom door. Apart from these things it's a very nice place.

Stayed for one night 21.10.17. The breakfast was second to none, bed very comfortable and the staff extremely helpful and friendly. There were a few house keeping issues but they were dealt with efficiently and effectively. We would definitely stay again.

Celiacs avoid this place! Got starter bread wrong then I'm sure gravy not GF just left not feeling well. Plus my granddaughter meal had to go back uncooked pasta and the waiting time is ridiculous! Would give 0 stars they never offered a refund on granddaughters pasta either disgraceful!

I found the staff very polite and pleasant, however my husband found a hair in his starter and although we were compensated by not paying for the starters it has dampened our first and possibly last visit to your restaurant which had come recommended to us by our neighbours. We are new residents of Witney and were disappointed by our first experience of the Blue Boar!

I was a little let down as the service was fine staff polite. My food which was soup was left on service hatch for a good while, so when it came to me it was cold so I politely asked for it to be warmed which staff did but, the chef just put laddle of soup on top, alsofood was being handled with no spoons no hand washing as we were watching different food being handled one chef no hat on. Presentation of food was let down too. There was also a party in the restaurant didn't mind that but, it was 5.45 and the the language was disscusting young lad in the hen party asking questions out loud using f word ect and there was other people trying to eat also with children. Whistles being blown I'm not a party popper but surely this could have been done in seperate room and staff could of said to the lad to sit down it wasnt late and people have paid to enjoy a meal the lad loved the attention and wanted to be showman little children should not have to listen to words using the f word ect. I'm all for people to have a good time but it wasn't 11pm at nite and it wasn't in another part it was in the restaurant a few people behind me and a woman I met coming out of the toilet were not happy but didn't want to complaine as the hen do was taking over the resturant.

I would love to give a 4 or 5 star rating, but there were a few issues that won't allow me.
I attended a birthday lunch along with my husband, 3 and a half year old son, the birthday girl and her husband.
The staff were great. Very friendly and helpful. However, we had a couple of issues with our meal. Firstly, all the main meals came out, but my son's, who then had to start eating my husband's meal. The pizza was taken off the bill due to its late arrival. Secondly, my friend and her husband ordered pudding being a Chocolate and Hazelnut Sundae. One of them is allergic to a particular fruit and we were advised that there was no fruit in the sundae at all. Halfway through the sundae, the deadly fruit was found! Staff informed us that the fruit had been put in there by accident and a free bowl of ice cream was given. It wasn't an accident as the other sundae had the fruit in too. I also didn't think a bowl of ice cream came close to saying sorry for a potential trip to hospital.
My other gripe is the price I was charge for a milkshake. A kids milkshake is £2, I was charge £8 for my milkshake! My husband had a pint of Guinness which was £4.45 and the birthday girl had a Gin & Tonic which was £5.60. How does that work?

Well hate to write this but after emailing the blue boar and never getting a response about the issue I had last visit and saying I don't want to leave a bad review because feel it is unfair as it is just one visit, so emailed with my concerns regarding the shocking service we got last visit but as never got a reply and visiting today and getting what has to to be the worst meal I have had in a while, so disappointing, as really like the blue boar before the last 2 visits. This time got a shockingly small pasta dish and could have counted the amount of penne pasta shapes I got in my dish on one hand, the the white wine sauce was non existent. Hate leaving bad review but after not even getting a response last time and how bad the food was this time I felt it only right. Seriously need to buck your ideas up to continue the good name the blue boar has. Very easy to get a bad name but quite hard to get a good name. Sort it out!

Really enjoyed our stay at The Blue Boar. The price for the room and breakfast was really reasonable. We had a reservation for another restaurant in Witney so unfortunately we didn't eat dinner at the hotel. The wood fired pizza oven smelt lovely & we'd definitely like to go there for dinner in the future. The only thing that was a pain was finding somewhere to park the car overnight (no on site parking).

Great atmosphere, staff were very friendly and courteous. Food was very tasty, I had the pizza cooked next to me in the wood fire oven. Sufice to say, I would highly recommend.

This is a lovely venue but since the refurb they jammed in too many tables both in the bar and the restaurant. The tables in the restaurant that are set for two are far too small, once you have a bottle of wine, a jug of water and four glasses that leaves very little room for your plate. In thr bar also it's a tight squeeze in between the tables, on the plus side though you can't help but get chatting with your near neighbours! The staff are lovely and welcoming and the food is delicious. The cocktails are great too.

We had coffee and soft drinks at The Blue Boar early one afternoon. My cappuccino was great and my wife's latte was great too. The pub was clean and tidy and atmosphere was nice, it had a classier feel to it compared to other places we visited, but it was reasonably priced. The food menu was small but looked good, though we didn't eat.

Our experience of the food in this place has been really positive. On our last visit, our 4 year old had his heart set on Mac and Cheese. Despite it not being on the menu, they offered to cook this for him and he loved it. Our meals were all excellent. There is a good deal of "gastro" competition in the area but the BB currently sits as one of our favourites. The staff are honest, engaging and polite and the service has been great. Also use the BB for coffee and drinks. Great atmosphere and a great position on the high street.

My partner and I block booked rooms in The Blue Boar for our wedding in the local area. Of those guests that stayed there, not one complained about anything. The staff were all wonderful, friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Good clean rooms, good price, great breakfast. Rooms at the frint can be noisy in the morning.

Modern and comfortable Restaurant with spacious seating possibilities. A very nice and varied menu to choose from. Everyone was very happy with their meals and dessert. We were there for a family lunch. The staff were friendly and the food was superb. Highly recommend it to others. They are child friendly and very nice to my 4 year old nephew.

Friendly atmosphere and good service. I have been in for a coffee several times over the last couple of weeks and it is always a relaxing and welcoming experience. The coffee is great and the food is good. I would recommend the Blue Boar for a quick coffee or an evening meal.

Clearly no one who has left a review on this place has stayed here on a Saturday night! We booked a "family" room and this has to be the least family friendy place I have been in. They should have just offered us beds in the bar as we were directly above it and the noise was ridiculous! If you are looking for a quiet place to stay on a Saturday night this is not the place! If you have family, this is not the place either. I would not recommend it!

Excellent location, good food and friendly staff made our stay pleasant. The dinner was excellent and I would recommend the Whitney platter. I would have liked to used the pub with our friends but was too busy punting in Oxford. Breakfast was very good although there appeared to be too few staff and too many guests in the morning. The room we stayed in was very clean but the mattress was not the most comfortable. I d recommend parking near the houses on the church green as the hotel does not have its own. Its well worth a stay if you stay in Witney.

We went here because when looking for B&B's it came up with a great website. Although we thought the rooms were way too expensive we also ear-marked it as a place to have a nice cocktail after a day event at my aunts. This was because of the web pictures of some chap making a cocktail. First, I asked for a Margarita and they couldn't do that?, OK, so I said how about a Whiskey sour, they couldn't do that! Just what's on the list he said, so I opted for a mojito and a long island ice tea for my girlfriend. Both made with syrup (pre flavoured) not crushed up lime or other ingredients same as Wetherspoons. Maybe I expected more because of marketing but wouldn't go again for cocktails.

We have been here a few times now, and can honestly say, everytime has been great! The staff are always helpful, the food and drink is exceptional. Well done to you, for bringing a touch of class to the town.
