First time in Charleston for a mother-daughter trip and couldn’t have stayed at a better hotel! Great location, the amenities were great and the staff was excellent! Would highly recommend!

We've been looking for a hotel that is a located near the waterfront and the historic district. We tried the Harborview on this trip and really enjoyed it. As a smaller hotel property, the staff was excellent and very attentive. Nice amenities like the wine and cheese in the afternoon or the evening milk and cookies. Nice selections for breakfast including where to have it served in the hotel. Yes, there is a 275 room hotel being built across the street from the Harborview and it will limit the view of the Harbor. But prior to this construction the views had been limited by an existing warehouse except on the top floor. That view may be lost upon completion of the hotel but it doesn't take away from its central location near Bay Street. We plan to return on our next trip to Charleston.

Everything about the hotel was great except that I paid for a room with a harbor view only to arrive and have a view of a construction site. Not only was the view obstructed but the construction noise started early in the morning. Price was not discounted for the construction/view/noise and this was not known prior to arrival. I would not recommend staying here in the near future.

I had a wonderful stay at HarbourView Inn. The rooms are spacious, the beds are extremely comfortable, and the staff is very pleasant. We will definitely be back.

Awesome location in downtown Charleston. Lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance, beautiful water views from the balconies in most rooms. There’s a beautiful park right across the street from this hotel with a fountain and a pier. Great for early morning walks. The hotel has a beautiful rooftop terrace with fire tables, comfortable seating and amazing views. Great for watching the sunset. Breakfast is included in your stay, great variety and they can bring it right to your room. The valet service offered is also very convenient. The only negative is the rooms have limited storage. Our room had one very small armoire with limited closet space. If you’re a heavy packer or have a lot items that need to be hung up, that will be an issue. We struggled to find places to store our luggage out of the way during our stay as there was no closet. But the room was absolutely beautiful, totally upgraded bathroom with lots of extras like a double shower head, built in makeup mirror and oversized vanity. Definitely a great place to stay in the heart of the historic district. Highly recommend!

Beautiful hotel in the perfect location and lovely accommodations. The only issue we had was the extremely low water pressure and the bruises left from running into the obtrusive footboard on the bed! Ouch! But, our room was spacious, quiet and extremely well maintained and the staff was absolutely wonderful! Can't wait to stay again!

Super nice place and the hotel personnel were great. From the valet to the front desk! We will definitely come back soon.

Beautiful ocean front view! Wonderful service! We will definitely be back! They have Valet parking, close walking distance to Henry's rooftop bar! and the best part is the smoking/rooftop patio on the 4th floor. We enjoyed our stay here! its worth every penny!

Lovely view of the harbor and Waterfront Park from our room. A fabulous spread of cheeses, crackers and fruit at 5:00. Continental breakfast delivered to our room. Definitely will be back.

Fabulous staff. Very accommodating. Our room was wonderful. Very comfortable beds, spacious rooms. The hotel is waking distance from shops, and many restaurants. I would come back time after time.

The place was great! Big rooms with comfy beds. A view of the bay from our window. Staff was helpful and friendly. Loved breakfast sent to all the rooms. Cocktails in the evening and a cookie to say good night. And the location was close to everything one could see in a weekend.

Our family (my husband, our two children — 11 & 14, and me) had a great stay. The hotel is beautiful and great location. The amenities were wonderful (wine and cheese hour, complementary breakfast delivered, bikes, snacks and flavored water available all the time, and coffee and tea available whenever). The room was perfect for us — very comfortable beds, a small table, nice view, and large bathroom with a nice shower.

Absolutely loved our stay here at the Harbourview Inn! This was our first time to Charleston and the hotel made it all that more special! From the entire amazing and attentive staff to the beautiful accommodations it was perfection! Highly recommend for any one seeking an upscale, comfortable, friendly, luxury experience! We hope to be back one day soon!

Just wrapped up a fabulous weekend stay at Harbourview Inn! What a great little gem in Charleston… Perfect location, within walking distance of EVERYTHING. Breakfast in bed every morning. Super comfortable bed, clean, quiet room. It was an absolutely perfect weekend, thank you!

A beautiful Inn! We spent our wedding night here and it was perfect! They allowed a friend access to the room so they could set everything up and decorate. They greeted us with such enthusiasm as we walked in late that night. The front desk is not your typical front desk, you check in and out with the friendliest of people, customer service at its finest! The next day we had a very late checkout to ensure we didn’t feel rushed. Clean and cozy rooms, the bed was amazing and so comfortable. The roof top is beautiful and offers great views of the city. This will be our number one choice to stay when we visit the city on special occasions! Thank you for being a part of our night and making it perfect for us! — The Cates!

The location is great, very close to a lot of restaurants and shopping. I loved that it was right near the water taxi stand. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Service has been great so far.

The best experience we have ever had at a hotel. Room was spotless. Has a working gas log fireplace. The balcony overlooks the harbor and waterfront park. The employees are very nice and eager to help.

My husband and I enjoyed staying here. The customer service was wonderful! The valet service was quick, the front desk employees greeted us with a cocktail while we were checking in our room. They had a candy machine and you could come get candy anytime and as much as you wanted. They also had nightly cookies and milk in tbe lobby. They had a nice rooftop where you could have a drink and enjoy the summer night. The room was very nice and the bed was comfortable. You could also have breakfast brought to you free of charge. Plus the hotel is located in a good spot where you can walk and take all the shops and the market. We will be visiting again.

This will be our go-to place to stay in Charleston from here on out. Hands down the best customer service, high quality everything and convenient to The Holy City's best amenities.

Please do yourself a favor and stay at the vendue. Let me preface by saying this was the worst "high-class" hotel I have EVER been to. Upon arrival, we waited for 15 minutes for valley to meet us, they never did. We had to take our own bags, take them up the stairs (because their lobby is terribly located on the second floor). For $50 a night, this is unacceptable. We paid $500 a night for our room because we checked multiple times that there would be a soaking tub. We got there and our room was TINY, with not even an economical bath tub. This is obviously upsetting due to the fact that's the only reason we paid what we did. The team was horrific in their response and basically said "oh well. " We called the team beforehand also confirmed that there would be a gym. I went down to the lobby (because there is NO information in the room) only to be told they don't actually have a gym, they have a "partner" that is 12 miles away (and with traffic would be 45 minutes each way). The rooms look very poor quality (like a Holiday Inn). There was a BIG gaping whole onto the balcony, so our room was incredibly drafty. The service was extremely sub par and they were clearly not appreciative to have our business. We even emailed the manager due to our extremely poor experience. His response was to do NOTHING for us and to say "thank you for helping us help future customers. " terrible — avoid!

Perfect location, within walking distance of the market, authentic downtown Charleston restaurants such as Poogan’s porch and more. Fantastic. The HarborView inn has an amazing waterfront view of Charleston. The rooms are very spacious and elegant.

This place is amazing… the employee's and the service that they provide, the food, the location… EVERYTHING about it was classy and top notch! They made us feel so welcomed and help with any questions we had about sight seeing or dinning. This place is full of character and class! I meant to write this review back in July when I stayed but something just happened today that reminded me of writing this review. Everything about our stay at harbor view in was great, but the luggage boy Jackson was beyond amazing. Talk about southern hospitality, he was so kind and helpful with telling us things to do and directions and calling restaurants for us. He did so much more than just take our bags to our room. I was talking to him about how I’d love to go to college down south and he talked about how he goes to University of South Carolina. I explained it can be hard to find schools with film programs which is what I want to do but he told me the program is great. Today, all the way in March, I got accepted to USC. Not only did Jackson provide great service, he convinced me to apply to a school which will change my life. Thank you Jackson! He deserves a raise.

Loved our stay here. Staff was amazing and very friendly. Our room was upgraded for free and was very spacious with probably 14 foot ceilings. Room was clean and luxurious with a big bathroom. They offer free drinks daily, breakfast was included and can be brought to your room, there are milk and cookies every night and a cocktail hour from 5 to 6. Great location right near the pier and water. Walking distance to great restaurants like Magnolia's. Ended up giving us valet parking for free which is normally $27. Great experience and would definitely recommend.

Stayed out wedding night at HVI and loved it! The staff are courteous and the view was perfect! Highly recommend the harbor facing deluxe room with fire place and jacuzzi tub!

Very nice hotel in the perfect location. Stunning views of the Charleston Harbor. Walk to top rated restaurants, shopping, Charleston City Market, carriage rides, and even can walk to board a cruise ship. High end accommodations centrally located for the full worldly experience that is Charleston.

My husband and I stayed in the "top of the line" Grand Harbourview Room on the 4th floor the two nights after our wedding and were not impressed. There were ants in the bathroom, ants crawling up the side of the elevator, and the service was sub par for what we were paying (quadruple digits for only 2 nights). There was a LARGE portrait in the room of a ghost in a window, which was in poor taste. We wanted a nice, romantic room with a scenic view, not a frightening reminder that much of downtown Charleston is haunted. Maybe if that were a theme of the hotel I could understand. We went downstairs one afternoon to request honey for the hot tea they offer, and they said "there might be some in the kitchen" and then left and never came back out. We were excited to use the giant whirlpool tub in the room (one of the MAJOR reasons we booked it! ) but the tub leaked so badly we couldn't get the water high enough over the jets to use it. That was the BIGGEST disappointment. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of 1 is because their valet service was excellent and the view of the Charleston harbor was nice. I thought for what we paid and the fact that we chose to spend the first few nights of our honeymoon there, this was unacceptable.

Good hotel in a great spot. Service was very good some years back. Can have breakfast sent up to your room, but took a little bit to get there. Really great price for location and service.

Loved it! Clean and elegant… great location and beautiful view. Staff was friendly. The baby bed we received was visibly dirty and didn't come with sheets but everything else was amazing. Received breakfast… there were cookies and milk/cocktail hours. We will definitely return!

This was by far one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in and I've stayed in many 5 star hotels. The best thing about it were all the little extras such as happy hour, rooftop bar with music, afternoon tea, breakfast delivered to your room, cookies and milk at night and chocolates on your pillow. There were no hidden fees! Imagine, free water! Complementary bikes included and free Wi-Fi. Awesome location, beautiful rooms, comfortable beds and so much more. The service was awesome!

Rooms are nice, but the others in my party did not like the beds. All of the staff were very hospitable and helpful. Between the breakfast delivered to your door, the wine and cheese hour, and the milk and cookies hour, there is something here for the entire family. Location is also great, with the hotel being steps away from Waterfront Park.

We stayed at Harbor View the last weekend in August. If there were SIX stars, I would have given them that rating. A small hotel that gives the intimate feeling rather than being part of a large crowd. Breakfeasts were individually prepared, and the happy hour was very enjoyable,, not only because of the wine and cheese, but we enjoyed speaking to other guests. The staff was exceptional, and the valet service was excellent. This hotel was not inexpensive, but it's worth whatever they charge.

Awesome stay here and location can't be beat. Walkable to everything in the French quarter. Breakfast was amazing with great options and happy hour wine and cheese (and charcuterie! ) was certainly a plus.

If you are looking for a small hotel in downtown, near the water, this is your place. It is a beautiful hotel with a great view! It is also conveniently located to a lot of great food spots and the great history of the beautiful Charleston!

My experience at Harbourview Inn was excellent from start to finish. They have a premium location in downtown Charleston with amazing views of Charleston Harbour that can't be topped in the city. The staff and service was fantastic as well. The doormen greeted us, offered to help with our bags and showed us to the front desk. Everyone at the front desk was very accommodating and courteous as well. The rooms and very nice and comfortable. There are really good extras that are included as well… wine and cheese, a great breakfast (which you can eat on the rooftop) and cookies and milk at night. Overall, everything was great and I would highly recommend Harbourview Inn if you're looking for an authentic Charleston experience right in the heart of the city.

I was going to rent a car but this hotel had it all. I got a room with a view! (See photos) Free mini breakfast served in my room! Free turn down service at night. Oh ya, free happy hour with wine and cheese! Walking distance to park, restaurants, rainbow row, the French quarters the market and the free city tram stop right outside the door of the hotel.

Okay… there are not enough stars to rate Harbourview Inn. This was an awesome hotel… that was more like a bed and breakfast. Check-in cocktails, wine and cheese happy hour, rooftop lounge, cookies and milk before bedtime and breakfast in the room (our choice).
But the best part was the hero named Chris (General Manager) I talked to after we left for Savannah. See… I came to Charleston/Savannah to officiate a wedding… and a key part of that is the officiant's attire… half of which I left hanging in the closet in our room. After a phone call, Chris sprang into action and (tho no fault of his own) completely did all the legwork in Charleston so that I wouldn't have to do the wedding the following day… pantless.
Thank you Chris and all the Harbourview staff for making our stay incredible and saving the nuptials.

Beautiful building and rooms. Very comfy beds and linens along with plenty of amenities. Street noise can be distracting but stops fairly early.

Stayed here for the third year in a row. Always an excellent experience.

Locations was great — near downtown and the water. Great view. The rooms were excellent. I travel a lot — I rarely see better rooms. The service was also top notch. Free wine and cheese at night and free breakfast on the rooftop (great view here. Sadly, it was too wet for me to enjoy), the atrium or directly to your room. Price as reasonable — probably because of the time of year. Best hotel that I've been to, probably. 5 stars.

Very friendly staff. Very accommodating. Nice charm to the hotel. Very close to many attractions. My 3 year old loved the milk and cookies served at 9pm every night.

The only issue we had was that one of the girls at the front desk said that we had a rate locked in for 3 days, but when we went back to the hotel at about noon, we were locked out and said that we only booked 1 day. Luckily, the room was still vacant for the next 2 days, and even though the gentleman told us it would be more for a Friday nights stay, he gave us the regular weekly rate to make up for the mistake. So many good things about this place… be ready to gain weight ;) Wine & cheese from 5-6pm daily. 4 wine choices. Iced tea & water, alone with m&ms are available all day Breakfast gets delivered to your door at the time of your choosing in the morning, and is quite delicious in my opinion. My mother would beg to differ, but her tastebuds aren't as advanced as mine. If you didn't have enough for breakfast or need more coffee, there's some readily available by the check in desk. Rooftop terrace is very nice, however with the cement walls, you can't see if you're sitting down. I wouldn't bring kids here just because they would get bored. However, there is a fountain right next door by the habor that kids are allowed to play in. There's free valet parking! You just Call 10 or so minutes before and they'll grab the car It's really close by to everything! We walked everywhere we went!

Spending Christmas there with family and just KNOW it will exceed our expectations. (If not, I'll be back here on 11/26/14).

This is one of my favorite hotels in Charleston. My wife and kids love it. It is in a wonderful location right next to the Park and it is easy to explore Charleston on foot from the Hotel. The rooms are beautiful, very clean and well kept. The hotel itself is very nice and the staff are great, very polite and helpful. This is definitely one of the better hotels in Charleston and I have stayed at most of the nicer ones.

I made a mistake on the dates for our reservation, and the hotel was very kind in working with me to change the reservation — — very professional and accommodating and made sure I was happy. They went the extra mile although the mistake was mine. I'll update my review once we complete our stay in March. Looking forward to it.

My husband and I recently had the pleasure to stay at the Harbor View Inn. We absolutely loved the accommodations and the staff was amazing! It was located near outstanding restaurants in walking distance and across the street from the water and a beautiful park to take walks. The market place and shopping was close also.
