Great location, rooms kinda small and other guests in room, inc when they shower very loud.
Rooms clean though and. Comfortable. If you expect Hyatt/Hilton grade you will be disappointed.
Good value. Beware of coming to the city from overseas, it is in the middle of the city, and unfortunately many, many homeless roam around.

Was informed as we were checking in the the ac was down, and had been for a week. Probably something they should inform people ahead of time. The city it too loud to be able to sleep with the windows open. The beds were lumpy and the customer service is awful!

We had gotten over there at around 3 in the morning. We were able to get our room and get parking. Though the parking structure they do have is no in and out parking, so Uber is recommended or having running shoes is good. The room was nice. Very clean and the beds were comfortable, but the pillows could have some more support, but overall I did enjoy myself.

Not great. At all. One elevator works. No temperature control in my room. But it has a tub and is clean. Delivers what I need for work travel while I attend a conference and was adorable for a great area. So 3 stars for that. Oh and bed is comfy but not cloud soft.

Nice hotel for the price. Its warn a bit yet they keep it clean. The beds can be small in some rooms and the rooms themselves can also be small. Yet if you get or for a deal they are worth it. Not so at full rate in my opinion. Staff is nice and somewhat attentive. You will not be thrilled yet you will also not be disappointed either.

Looks at my reviews and you'll see I'm fairly generous with the stars, so for me to commit to a 2 star rating should tell you everything you need to know. This property is tired, to put it kindly. The carpet is pulling up off the floor, paint is peeling off the walls, and they hit you with a parking charge of almost 50 additional dollars when you arrive. (assuming you don't find street parking, which is basically impossible) It wasn't cheap, had unexpected additional costs, and needs a serious renovation. (the staff, however, was kind, helpful, and cheerful, so my issue is entirely with the property itself) 0/10 would stay again.

Great location with tons of shopping and restaurants. Hotel was clean and staff was very friendly. I found the bed uncomfortable outdated use new mattress. Only one elevator was working while our 2 night stay. Could be updated a bit. But overall for the price and in the Bay Area not bad.

Great location and price. The presence of many homeless around is on every street and not the Pickwick Hotel's fault. Coffee in the room is available, small fridge was good to cool wine. Nice atmosphere from the 20's thanks to architecture. Just had more character than modern places. King-size bed super comfy, room fine for two coming in for shower and sleep!

Marco at the reception and the Oscar A car park in North Beach were amazing in resolving the situation and for this I would like to stay again. The rooms are actually not bad for SF. I just have to vote low because Emelda would have charged my card at 91 euros for a parking night after I told her it didn't sound right several times. Look at your parking fees, but other than that is his decent stay. The bed was very comfortable. It's not a great selection of canals in the rooms, but there's access to food facilities within walking distance and in the lobby.

It might have been nice when it opened in 1926 but it is sorely in need of updating. The porcelain what very chipped in the tub leading to ready and they're was what looked like mold as well. As is is right on a busy street, it is noisy all night. Work all of the other nice hotels in San Francisco, I would avoid The Pickwick.

If you require all the amenities of a large chain hotel, you may be disappointed with the Pickwick, BUT… they have all the basics covered and it's cozy. The location is ideal for whatever brings you to San Francisco. Pro tip: Book directly with the hotel for the best rate and, in my experience, thier highest level of service.

The room we got was dirty. Mold in the shower and on the shower curtain, Hair on the wall, and makeup on the wall. I complained and the next day they gave us a new room and said they “upgraded” us. I do not know how they considered it an upgrade when the room and bathroom were smaller than our other room. The towels had black smudges but I didn’t bother to complain because when I complained before the manager didn’t seem very empathetic or understanding. For two nights and parking the total was around $600, and it wasn’t worth it. Not even the semi decent location could make up for it.

The place is very nice and the staff is very nice. I would love to spend every anniversary there if possible, but I did really enjoy the time there and I would recommend this place to everyone. I would say that if you get the chance to visit the place, please do.

To eat in the immediate surroundings do not miss a huge shopping mall called Nordtstrom is gigantic. You eat on the floor — 1 (food court) There's pretty much anything distributed in 8 storeys or maybe more. Bright and clean rooms. Fiji water in the room and bathrobes in use. Recommended reservation, you will avoid meetings in the city. Beware the Golden Gate is all on the other side. Recommended to inquire about the itinerary to optimize the time.

Good location. Room was nice but small. Wi-Fi barely worked. Bathroom was very small. Staff was very nice, helpful when asking for places to eat.

It's old and spent, but clean and comfortable at the same time. Plus, it's affordable comparing to similar hotels near by. The bar on the ground floor is very cool and not that expensive. Go for it.

I travel for business so stay here often. I have to give it 2 stars because Emelda at the front desk tried to overcharge me for parking. She charged me for 2 cars and at the wrong price when I insisted something was wrong. I wonder how many business travelers this happens to. Customer service is annoying also that Quiceno cancel the hotel but they try so hard for us to stay when the decision was already cast.

Walls are very thin. The shower leaked whenever we used it. Staff were typically very curt. Mini fridge was broken when we arrived. Building is old so there are almost no power outlets. It's in a good location though, and cleaning staff were decent. It was clean, too, though my bed sheets had holes in them.

All compliments are given to the staff (including maintenance person and front desk), very friendly and helpful. Hotel itself is too old. There are stains on the bathtub which seem unlikely to be removed. There’s even a big hole on the curtain. Location is great though.

It is an old hotel and that has its charm, but also that is why it has lack of amenities; It's dark and without many lamps.

The Hotel is very nice and the people are very gentle, but the people who work there do not speak Spanish and it makes communication difficult for Hispanics.

The hotel is ok. Nothing that sets it apart from other hotels. Was fun showering and then the water just stopped running. Elevators have a mind of their own. AC in the room is just a set of knobs that do nothing. No sound isolation from the hallway. Room was nice for a SF hotel (Most SF hotel rooms are old and rough, simply how it is in an old City). Ads all over the hotel for happy hour at the bar yet they wouldn't honor it last night. Overall, not bad, but not above average.

The location is conveniently located on 5th and Mission just one block from shopping, entertainment centers and the famous cable car at Powell. Service is held to a high standard as there are many other hotels and choices in this area so competition is high. Having an in hotel restaurant/bar is also convenient.

The Pickwick is conveniently located one block away from the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The rates are quite reasonable compared to other hotels in a similar location, if you don't mind missing out on certain amenities. The rooms are a strange mix of modern (remodeled bathrooms, for example) and 'historic' appointments — the carpets are of poor quality throughout, paint is cracking, and both the crown moulding and baseboards have separated significantly from their original places. Due to the building's age, concessions have to be made (as with other nearby hotels) when talking about amenities one might expect from newer construction, such as in-room air conditioning controls. The rooms have two sets of windows — modern vinyl panes within older, more decorative panes attached to the original facade. Overall, the rooms feel their age, but none of this is a deal breaker if you are just looking for a place to park during your business trip. Things to note, though, in case you do — the wireless access is unfortunately spotty, and the fitness center is one treadmill, one bike, and a weight set. The hotel's central location makes it a convenient hub from which to see the city — guests are one block away from multiple methods of transport, several malls, and a multitude of eateries. The building is also home to several restaurants that partner with the hotel, and these were convenient in a pinch.

A decent hotel for the price with a great location. Rooms are reasonably sized with a comfortable bed and decent hotel furnishings. Double glazing on the windows and remodelled bathrooms help combat the buildings age. Some things to note; the walls are extremely thin, you can hear talking and the alarm next door, and the air vent between bathrooms allows you to hear more than you'd like. Street noise is loud, although understandable given the hotels location and age. Would recommend using the stairs as the lift is slow and unreliable. Staff were great and the bar/restaurant adjoining the hotel was helpful.

Good location with a decent sized mall a few doors up the street. Its central location is good for union square and other tourist location. The hotel itself is unfortunately slightly shabby with rooms in need of refurbishing. The window in our room was double glazed with the outer window stuck open. The resuraunt that is connected too the hotel was great for breakfast with great friendly staff.

The hotel was conveniently located, one block away from Market St and the iconic cable car turnaround. All the best shopping is literally steps away, and there is a huge parking garage directly across the street. Our room left something to be desired, but it was one of the last available. I got the impression the others were probably in a little better shape. Still, it was clean and all appliances, etc. Worked fine, including the mini fridge. The staff was friendly and went above and beyond to fulfill our requests. Would recommend to family and friends.

Com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around… Good location if you want to be in the middle of the tourist area and shops but it's very noisy outside — emergency vehicles going past with sirens blazing at midnight etc. So many homeless and crazy people. I wouldn't stay in that location again. Hotel is old and dirty. Room was actually not too bad. The bed was very comfortable and the furniture seems quite new, just looks like they haven't updated the bathroom, carpets and curtains in a long time. These look dirty and the hallway outside the room wasn't clean and behind the furniture in the room was dirty.

Decent room for one night in SFO. Walls are pretty thin and room let in quite a bit of outside noise. We had a room facing the Bloomingdales, and could hear generator/fan noise from the building next door all night, even on the 7th floor. Rooms were updated enough and service was good. Elevators are very slow but add some charm as an old hotel. Otherwise bed is comfortable and room rate was good for the location for ball park, Chinatown, Financial District, etc. Just don’t expect to get the best nights sleep.

Walls are thin. Like I can hear the alarm going off next door thin. But everything else is really nice.

Convenient location and clean rooms however don't drink from the tap unless you want to get sick.

Terrible. Woke up with bed bug bites all over. The hotel was reluctant to do anything about it and were adamant that they don't have bed bugs. Had to wait ages to speak to anyone regarding it and when I did he was very arrogant. Wouldn't recommend it, nor would I stay here again.

Spent some time in the bar. Very good attendants and cool people around. Beer for $4 until 7pm.

Overall pretty decent. We were in room 503. The AC made a very loud clunking noise every 30 minutes or so, the bed was VERY noisy and I'm pretty sure it was the box spring. Fairly clean besides some parts of the bathroom. Good location. Could have found a cheaper price on this room but my SO didn't do enough reserach.

Really great place to stay, very comfortable. First night had rowdy neighbors that were very loud until 1:30am, but the last 4 nights were great.

Nice downtown. But nothing to do with the quality offered in Italy.

Very good location, close to the shops and a few steps from the Bart to reach by the train the international airport.
The rooms are spacious, comfortable beds and free Wi-Fi access of good quality (possibility to surf and watch movies) is made available.

Still love this little boutique hotel. I know it is a bit dated but every time we stay there they treat us like royalty. The rooms are about standard for 'in the city' rooms so they are on the smaller side but you won't be inside the room much because there is so much to see and do at this location. Right across the street from both the US Mint and the San Francisco newspaper (forgot which) so it is a great location. Of course there are plenty of places in the city that are not as safe as others, just be aware and try to stay on the well-lit and well-travelled areas. Would definitely stay here again, we are always treated like family and the staff aims to please!

It's a budget hotel, and my nightly price hit 499 on a busy night. I travel for business and have stayed at a huge number of hotels in San Fransisco. A lot of these places stay in business because they seem exciting and are in a convenient location. For a vacation, the small rooms and old paint jobs might seem fun, but they might not if you expect this hotel to be more than it is. This is not a luxury hotel, my room has the oldest air conditioning unit I've ever seen (one which is completely broken). The units are dirty, cramped, and old, the street noise is loud if you open a window to cool down the place and the fridge is crap. In any other place in the country, at 500 dollars, I'd be demanding my money back, but this is actually pretty decent for this part of San Fransisco. It's just important that you don't go in with the wrong expectation.

Hotel with the charm of past times, clean and centrally located but there the ravages of time on the facilities gnaws. Staff is good.

Very small, tight room. We got king bed but found it difficult to maneuver 2 people comfortably. The room itself did have upgrades but the 10 coats of paint is chipping in some areas. If you want to park your car at the hotel, be prepared to pay an additional $50.00 a day. For almost $300.00 for 1 night I expected luxury. You won't get that here. Very disappointed and will not be a return visitor.

I don't recommend this hotel at all. First, the smell of our room was horrible and it seems the previous guest was smoking in the room. We called the reception to change the room and they told us no room is available. I know this might be the guest mistake but hotel management should ensure the cleanliness of the room before giving the key to guests. The least they can do was to offer us some discount or apologize for the horrible smell. Moreover, the water bottle in the room is not free and they will charge 3 USD for each bottle. I was amazed how this 3 stars hotel can't afford free water bottle to guests.

Does not have parking despite q advertised on websites q Yes have it, the q have is public parking nearby, and expensive. In 2016 about 40 euros the day, or rather until 13:00, do not have to be 24 hours. The room q us gave: old, small and as if were in full street without windows, is heard a lot them cars of the fairly busy street to which gives.

•The water in the shower randomly disappears — will you get to rinse your hair? No one knows lol!
•The elevators have a mind of their own. They stop randomly on every floor. If you're on the top floor it can take forever to get up and down.
•It has a parking garage but it's $40 a day to park, — well, it's $40 to park even if you're parking for an hour. It's a flat fee. Overall

The staff was amazing. The neo-gothic architecture is gorgeous, and the location can't be beat. Cons: walls are thin and some of the finer details (sloppy paint, rusty air vents in bathroom) could use refreshment, though for the price, these are very minor quibbles.

Rooms are nice, tiny but nice BUT I was stuck in a room next to alley where dumpsters were being slammed all night long. Trucks arrive at 3:00. It was loudest noisiest room ever. When I called front desk at 3am to get another room I was told no. Would never stay here again IF I want sleep. UPDATE: Went downstairs I talked to woman at desk and she quickly changed my room to a quieter one. Thank you. She alone upped the hotel 2 stars. But beware of rooms ending with 33

We stayed the night for halloween. It was small and older but fine, except for all the noise, even on the 9th floor. The front desk man was super nice!

Street noise was crazy, I couldn't sleep because of the homeless trying to get glass bottles from the trash that are near my room! And room were dirty, hair was everywhere, no HOT WATER! I paid over $250 for this damn hotel and I still had to pay an extra $45 for parking. Unprofessional staff, and NO ROOM SERVICE, Now you tell me what kind of 3 stars hotel is this? They can not secure Hot water for their own guests! The only reason I gave them a 2 stars was because of the location of the hotel only.

We made a reservation on a third party but the payment didn't went through so it causes complications. The hot water ran out so that was a bust. Elevator didn't seem to work time to time. The room was okay and bathroom was okay. Also it got hot in the hotel a lot during my stay. So it was a bust for me.

Rated this hotel 5 stars for a combination of reasons — the rooms are clean, cozy & offer great amenities (such as a coffee maker, fast enough free Wi-Fi, comfortable beds with feather pillows, a mini fridge & nice flat screen TV). These amenities combined with the price (I payed around $120 for a Saturday night stay) & the location make it next to impossible to beat. The only drawback (and its not specific to this hotel) is downtown SF parking. Secure parking is expensive (I had to pay about $50 for 24 hours). This will definitely be my go to for a cheap but quality place to stay in the heart of downtown San Francisco.

The hotel is showing age. The elevators weren't functioning properly during a majority of our stay. They would take you to the wrong floor or not work at all. The hot water also cut out during our stay and was out for the day. The staff didn't seem to be concerned about these problems and dismissed our complaints. The hotel is located just south of the Tenderloin in San Francisco. The homeless population has started to bleed over into this area of town. We witnessed one man masterbating in an alley. We went the other way and he started following us. Didn't feel safe at all. The restaurant Soma and the Cafe next door were both good places to eat. Housekeeping was prompt and efficient each day. The wireless had a strong signal in the room and was reliable. Several movie channels were available on the TV. Room was smaller than anticipated but it felt cozy after a day or two.

The room was clean but quite small. In contrast to other hotels, it was also quite cheap. What but the best I liked was the location and the helpful staff. Trigger Gets a star, because it's been quite sound. (was clear, as it is located on 5th Street)

Good location right in san francisco room old but clean.

The rooms cost about $450 / night due to a Conference in San Francisco. Therefore much too expensive for offered comfort.
The location is very good. The train from SFO Airport stops in the immediate vicinity.

Rather well placed for shopping, near Macy's and the terminus cable car Powell & Market.
Shuttle to the airport at $12.
