City Backpacker Biber Hotel

I got sharing type hotel rooms. The problem is 5th floor without lift. Those who have heavy luggage and those who prefer not to make workouts by lifting them. It's not the place for u. Btw the rooms are neat. We can have common kitchen and common bathroom per floor.

Great staff! location is near the busy restaurant area in the old town and the walk from the main station is about 12-15 minutes depending on which exit you take, then you’ll have to walk up to 3 (or 4 floors) to find the reception. Not recommended for people with heavy luggage. Bedsheets cost 3 euros.

This hostel is in such a great location! Super close to the main station, in the old town close to lots of bars/restaurants/cafes/shops and it has an awesome roof terrace to chill on. There is a small plaza in front of the hostel that has some nice restaurants where they sometimes have love music. The staff are super friendly and helpful, especially the girl with the cool tattoos the rooms themselves are pretty small and dated but the beds are comfy — just beware you do have to pay extra for bed linen of CHF3 per night. There are also shared kitchens.

The hostel has a good service in the reception but the rooms don't have much power plugs, it had an extension but even so was not enough for all the roommates. The beds are kinda comfortable but not that much stable so when you neighbor rolls on his bed you will feel hear it. A good thing and surprise was the kitchen that was super equiped with everything that we need.

Really AMAZING staff, AMAZING people staying there, greatest location, nice and cosy rooms but beds are small. Other than that, it is wonderful!

Stayed here for two nights. Not my most favourite hostel I don't think I ever felt welcome here. The staff are only available during certain hours, you have to purchase your own bed sheets, there's not enough power sockets for your devices, the city can be quite loud at night, the kitchen is small and isn't well maintained. Despite all that it is one of the cheapest places to stay during your time in Zurich so you may not have another option!

Very good location in old Town. 10 mins walking from main train station and 2 mins in tram. Few places of interest near by. The stay was comfortable here. Please note this hostel is located on the fourth floor and with no lift. So if you are carrying heavy luggage then this place should be avoided to stay.

Expensive for what you get. I was in a 4 bed female room which became quite cramped when we were all up and getting ready. There were four small lockers in the room you could put valuables in, but I prefer to lock up my whole bag. There was a sink and mirror in the room, and the showers and toilets were right down the hall. There shower pressure was nice and the water temperature was easily controllable. A kitchen was also on our floor that had a kettle and dishes you could use. You have to pay extra for sheets, which I did not like. This was already one of the more expensive hostels I stayed at (everything in Switzerland is bit more expensive than the rest of Europe). I also did not like the amount of stairs you had to climb just to make it to reception (like 3 flights). But this has a great location at being just about a 10 minute walk from the central bus and train stations. If you need quick access to trains or buses this is a good hostel, and I would recommend it. But maybe do some price checking with others first!

I stayed in a private room and it was very comfortable. The location is great and the reception deal people were really nice and extremely accommodating.

Clean and friendly service. Needing to hire bed sheets at extra cost. No lift so don't bring any heavy suitcases!

Lovely hostel in a great location. Right in the midst of the markets of Old Town. A stone throw away from bars, cafe's and shops!

Great retreat for one or two nights.

Good place if you are used to the dorm environment… mind you single and double rooms are available but make sure to book them earlier.

It's a good location, close to everything. Folks working there were very nice. Here's why I give it 2 stars. 2 power outlets for 4 beds. That too far away from the beds. It's a good thing that I had a plug that allowed for two USB ports and I could share it with a room mate. Floors creak terribly — good luck trying to move around early in the day without waking your room mates up The floor allows men and women, but the toilets and showers are common. A shared shower room usually means that it's shared for all women, it would help if the website says this more clearly. Almost all men and women looked very uncomfortable in that space. The area it's around gets pretty noisy at night so those who are light sleepers will find it extra tough. No lockers for your backpacks. Just a tiny locker to hold your valuables. I found that a tad uncomfortable. Also, you should probably be used to this is you're carrying heavy luggage around in Europe but a 4 floor climb to get to the reception, and then more climbing. No elevators. Unfortunately, Zurich is expensive and this would seem like a bargain. But if youre able To extend your budget a bit more, go for a hotel room.

Pack light if you visit here because there are a lot of stairs to take your bags up. Windows don't insulate the sounds of the busy street below well. Accomodations are dated. This isn't a particularly nice facility but the price is very good.

So if you are visiting Switzerland or Zurich in particular for the first time you may not know that it quite an expensive city. For the price you can't get much better than city backpackers in Zurich. As some have mentioned they will charge you for bedsheets, so I just brought a sleeping bag, which was fine. A great location, right in the centre of the old city, with lots of bars and restaurants close by, and a short walk to the station.

It doesn't have a lift. And if you have heavy luggage be ready go lift it upto 6 floors without any help. And rooms were very congested.

Very affordable, especially for Zurich. Location is great: 20 minutes from Zurich Hbf, right next to many bars and restaurants. Staff was very nice and willing to help.

Excellent location, very close to the train station of Zurich. The space of the rooms for 4 people is good, the bathroom clean but have no soap, and the lockers rooms are very small. The rest area is nice, as are the staff.

Very pleasant one night stay here. Absolutely never felt unsafe. Seemed reasonably priced. Comfy bed, slept well, nice staff. Free lockers and lock.

Rooms go large, clean and comfortable, shared bathrooms are sufficient, a bit expensive for the conditions, but it is normal in Switzerland.

Wonderful place to visit. Great historical places and buildings, nice people with kind hospitality. Good weather. Easy to navigate and get to know the place. A must visit. I stayed at Hotel Hirshen in the old city which was very convenient and nice place to stay.

Easy to get to from the airport and surrounded by restaurants and bars, but these are budget ecomedations. On the 4th floor of a old building minus the charm. Plan to walk up all the stairs in a spiral staircase. There is a restaurant below and you can hear it from your room. Also can hear the people partying on the street. Floors are dirty, bathroom is very gross and co ed. You have to pay for sheets service here as well. Front desk closes at 10pm. Front desk guy was nice and let me borrow a conversation charger. Zurich is expensive, this place is affordable but don't expect to be super comfy.

Rooms are clean. Beds are comfortable. Kitchen is well equipped with a friendly atmosphere.

Nice location and good staff are the plus points of the place. Ya clean rooms and wash rooms and a very basic kitchen are provided. Some good features and distinct at that is that they provide power banks for free which is a must. Overall fine. Far from supermarkets which was a big problem for a vegetarian like me.

The price is OK for Zürich. Everybody was very friendly and the atmosphere in the hostel is nice. You'll have access to a kitchen and a Bathroom (2 WC / 2 Showers) per floor. There are not enough plugs in the rooms, but the beds are confortable. The lockers for valuables could be bigger.

Really enjoyed the location and the team were very helpful Stefan, Leo and the blonde gentleman who's name I don't remember, all super helpful! I used the hotel fondue pan and made homemade fondue it was delicious. Thanks for looking after me :) so well Emma xx.

The hostel is clean and warm. Rented a 6 bed room for girls. On February 10-11. Located in the center, all sights within walking distance. Recommend.

Very well located, but the access is in a narrow street, and then you have to climb several fairly dirty floors without elevator to reception. For the rest of the plants there is also no lift but it is already the hostel and there already if it is clean. My room was not very big but enough. Only one shower per floor, I duché on another floor. The showers are by some basic but comfortable, with dressing room with several hangers, and shower with ledge and with good water pressure. Overall clean, basic but renovated. They charge the sheets apart, 3 francs. The staff is nice, that if, until 15 does not open the reception for check in.

Is now almost 2 years. I found our room extremely hot and with the window, nothing was open (on the court played a tape and we were supposed to Sleep, since we had to take…). For us the Bed was in this Hostel a little adventure. We found the staff to be extremely friendly and fun. Karl, it is not a 4*Bunker, but for the price in downtown Zurich, all met our expectations. Ev. Once again, spend the night there.

The Hostel itself is good. However, such simple and cheap things such as soap in the bathroom, or Oil in the kitchen missing.

Hotel Biber is located in Zurich. And FYI everything in Zurich is so sooooooo expensive. And Hotel Biber is one of the cheapest hotel in Zurich so it was appropriate with your budget (if you'll visit Zurich with low budget). Don't throw your money more for pay the hotel in Zurich so it is good idea if you save your money with choose cheap hotel.

Why tha fuck would you extort 40 euro per night then ask the guest to carry along his bedding while checking out. Totally messed up administration I'd recommend it to know one. The receptionist that worked on the 1st of October is a mere nuisance, lacks customer relation. No value for money!

Great location and nice staff. Be prepared for stairs, little locker (could't fit my bag) and few space in the shower.

Great view from the roof. Overall pretty expensive as far as hostels go but to be expected in Zurich. They'll charge you extra for sheets.

For backpackers, the only thing in favour of this hostel is the location and the cleanliness. Against the limited hours of the reception.

Super clean private room, helpful counter help as well as a nice variety of gifts in the reception office. Great location as well.

Decent place. Bit of a pain climbing 3 flights of stairs just to make it to reception. No full size lockers. Just big enough for valuables and only a small lock will work. But overall OK. You're not going to find another place as cheap in Old Town Zürich.

A "cheap" Accommodation in the heart of Zurich. Rooms are clean and have a sink and/or a kitchenette inside. In each floor there is GemeinschaftsWCs and showers. A roof-top terrace (see value) for smokers, or hobby photographers. No Breakfast, only coffee machine and at the reception there is a snack bar. Free Wi-Fi. The entrance is angled a little side street.

Hostel has a great location. Very reasonably priced relative to other hostels in Zurich. The rooms are well maintained with individual lockers (though they are quite small). Street noise is a concern and you may have to avoid if you are sensitive to noise throughout the night. Otherwise still has good value and I'd consider staying again.

Very well located, good price, clean and excellent care. That Yes, the reception is on floor 3 and only by narrow stairs. If you're going with lots of luggage, pedi help or he began to lift weights in advance.

Nice facilities but strange location. Felt like I was going to fall off the bed and die. Got no sleep people walking in and out of the room, turning lights off and on and had a party in the room. I asked to be moved but no luck. The staff are trained well and caring but because this hostel is normally a university there are limitations.

It was my first hostel in Europe and I think was good decision! Met some really great people and the location was unbelievable!

If you're looking for a place exactly in the Old Town, close to the main train station this is your hostel. Nice people working there and nice guests. You have a kitchen so you can buy your own food to save some money (necessary in Zurich). The negative part is to share the room. You never know with whom are you going to sleep and you can find some troubles (smells, snores…). … Anyway, it's a great place to stay and to meet people from all over the world.

I stayed in this hotel for one night. What a wonderful experience. Everything was great specially the dealing of receptionist lady with the guests. Great location, very neat and clean and reasonable rent. Really enjoyed.

Okay, let me start. Plce: Hostel is in the wonderful place, in the center of Old Town, so everything is actually two steps away from you. Stuff: OMG, those people smile all the time! I couldnt believe how positive they're! I really love them, and I'm sending them big hug :) … Accomodation: For hostel it's perfect! So many oportunitis in here. Kitchen (I didn't use it but others say it's well equipment), WC and Shower on every flor. It's important to say that they clean all of the rooms and whole hostel EVERY DAY, so it's always perfect and nice smelling. Roof top: This is a special review for the Roof Top! If you're smoker, or if you're not, this place is gonna blow you away. I spent so many hours up there with people I meet in here, and guess what, It's AMAZING! In the night there're lovely lights, and music from all over the square. Big 5 for them ;)

Uf. To see where do I start, the site is very central, that is good. There ends the good. You have to climb a lot of stairs to get there and everything is quite old, going up is passed by the rear of the kitchen of a restaurant that is in the same building with smells that entails. The room has the beds and already, everything is old. The Wi-Fi only works in the common room, which is not very big, so it is possible that you don't have site. It is very expensive, Zurich is expensive, but this site does not justify its price for any site. Luckily I was only going for one night, because I didn't like it. Oh, and the sheets are not included in the price! Sure there are nicer places, seek another :)

The lockers were too small to fit our backpacks, so we had to live them in the room. The reception is not open 24h and you can't leave your bags there while waiting for the check in time. Moreover, sheets are not included (despite the high price you pay per night) : welcome to Switzerland.

Pros: -It is a central place. -It has one kitchen per floor for you to cook your own food. -The water heats up fast and it's good to drink. Cons: -The reception is in a 3rd floor without lift andALL the halls are very tight, which is very bad if you have a big and heavy luggage. -The public room is very small, it only has space for 8-10 people -There's no internet on bedrooms -Internet connection fails if 2 or more people are watching streaming -Some guests are very rude or noisy -Some guests have eaten or stolen our food, which wouldn't happen if the fridge had some 4-pin code or private keys. Unfortunately, it is shared by 5 rooms of 4 or 6 people. -Some guests left hair or pubic hair in the shower, gross. -Our room was 2 floors above the reception, an extra bummer. -The staff isn't very nice, except for the brazilian cleaning lady, and the bearded guy and the older woman on the reception. -No meals included. -The detergent was mixed with water, so it wasn't very effective. -Since the stove in our floor didn't work, we always had to take our food downstairs. -Except for the brazilian cleaning lady, the other ones didn't replace the dishcloth, didn't clean the table or the floor of the kitchen, they didn't clean your room, they didn't even check if there is enough clean kitchenware! I am surprised not to have found any cockroach… I will never return here and I wish you don't come too.
