Good hostel. The room are nice, clean and big. The hostel is easily reachable and the facilities are excellent. Good personnel. WC and shower are separated, but the sink is in the room with the beds so it's a big complicated to wash if everyone else is sleeping.

Excellent atmosphere, comfortable, good food, they have bike available to enjoy a day in Amsterdam.

Nice clean hostel, in biking and walking distance from the red light. The building is really cool and they even have a quiet room if you need to get some work done or just want to do some reading. I dinged them 2 stars because after arriving back at 5 AM my key card didn't work. They had accidentally put me in a female dorm and made me move rooms at 5 AM. Really not cool. I would've understood if they asked me to move to a male dorm first thing in the morning, but at 5 AM? Get your bookings straight and I would've given you 5 stars.

A little expensive, the beds was not the bests and the cafeteria is not the best at remembering who ordered there food first. But oh boy, the atmosphere is amazing! And people know it. Probably the coolest hotel I have ever been ind. Best for the younger generation, I think.

Great hostel for a moderate price. The building is an old University or school, they used some of the old furniture and created something very cool. All employees were friendly and the rooms were clean.

We had a great stay here. The room was air conditioned, dark, quiet and on the whole very good. However, the ban on bringing in own food (in order to force usage of their cafes), combined with the expensive cost of the hostel (around €40/50 pp p/night) means it is 4 and not 5 stars. That said, the stay was enjoyable.

Horrible, disgusting xD, the rooms have windows only to the view, but may not be open, so that one feels claustrophobic and the dust popping x all sides, nor a seat to sit, or a table to make something, and a grime, everything, everything there is q to pay and when are you going to ask for a towel or a blanket, because all you have q ask, you put bad face, fatal, all, in the end a disgust, only this good, the common places, but ls-fourths of a disaster, or come to clean them, only replace toilet paper, … Well I already downloaded it!

Very clean and no doubt in a very quiet place. The common areas nt nice and the decoration successful. I would repeat!

I fell in love with this place. All the stuff the building, the people, the park where it is. On the weekends you have to DJ!

Great hostel! You don't get towels for free, but the place has everything you need, including restaurant. Breakfast was great. The rooms were very clean. The place was very trendy. Those with teens will love it!

This place is fine if you know what to expect. As a hostel, it is fantastic… Amenities, friendly, nice surrounding area. I stayed in one of the private rooms (rather than shared), and it is perfectly comfortable and clean. But if you are expecting a hotel, just be careful with your expectations… Probably not the best place to bring young kids, for example. It used to be some sort of university building, and parts of it reflect that, other parts have been funked up and quite cool. Knowing and accepting this, I doubt you would be disappointed with your stay.

Best hostel ever. Bar/restaurant downstairs and a night club in the basement. Good food. Staff was very friendly and helped us with anything we needed. A very chill place in an excellent location (inside a park). About 20/30 mins walk to central but everything is beautiful so didn't mind the walk.

A room with glass lovely with views of the park. It was small but cozy. The service of the hotel is very nice and attentive, both in reception as the guy who was in charge of breakfast. In fact, we can say that the breakfasts very worthwhile. They have gluten-free bread and a wide variety of products. A very good option if you are traveling as a couple or with friends.

Probably the most-well furnished hostel I've ever stayed in. We had a four-bed dorm, so basically a private room for my 2 friends and me. The common areas were really nice and the room was really clean. The location is not bad, but it's a bit of a walk from the subway stop in the winter.

A couple friends and I stayed for holiday. Pros: Great location and bike rentals right there at the hostel. It’s perfect for wanting to get around Amsterdam. Nicely kept and modern enough amenities. Also quite at night. Didn’t really have problems sleeping. Cons: shower was clogged when we got there so unless you wanted the water to start overflowing to the ground you had to take a quick shower. Sink had an issue the 2nd day and wouldn’t turn off all the way.

Very busy place, very festive, very affordable price: room, aperitif, breakfast. Has a parking lot.

To share among young people why not. But the hostel is not what suits me.

Clean cheap and inside N Park wonderful x who loves quiet.

All in all, a very good experience. The 4 person rooms are not too big, but they offer a good value and bathrooms are clean and modern. Included soap an towels would have been a nice addition, but that was not the case. The breakfast is tasty and not expensive, furthermore, the tram and metro connections are pretty good.

My new favorite gem to work peacefully during weekends. The Auditorium and Library are deserted most of the time, so you will have plenty of choices on where to sit. Power plugs (even British ones! ) are all over the place and Wi-Fi is correct. I love the high ceilings here and all the natural light that flows in. ☀️

One of the top hostels around. The rooms are incredibly functional and well thought of. Location is good, close to public transport and downtown isn’t too far on foot. Can’t go wrong with this place!

The hostels were clean and a great place to stay. They provide towels for purchase, so pack your own if possible! Friendly staff and convenient locations. They also provide lock boxes under the bunks, so bring your own lock if you're worried about security.

Right next to a park, great to jog early in the morning. It has everything you need, it’s neat and convenient. Would have given 5 stars if the windows would open — air outside is so fresh but the windows are not made to open. (Oh, and depending on the type of room you stay in, you may need to pay extra charge for towels. ) Anyway, it is a nice and unique hostel.

Was a good place to stay while in Amsterdam, decent price and rooms are alright. The bar area is a nice place to chill out with friends, as is the auditorium (I believe it was labelled as). Great that the back door leads right into the park and it's pretty central to be honest, not a particularly long walk to get anywhere. If you're looking for a place you want to spend a holiday, it's isn't here, but for a place to crash for a few hours, it's great.

With reservation is great. The design of the place I love and the decor. The service is very good, just beware of a Spanish ill-fated that attends a few days in reception.

Our stay in this hostal was one of the best experiences during this trip. The place is surrounded by lakes, ducks, and every kind of nature what makes it very relaxing and safe. The hostel is a modern place, clean and organized bringing together all the needs. The cultural diversity makes it a place to socialize and make friends. The attention of the staff was satisfactory.

It's not the classic hostel. It looks more like a hotel. Very youthful and cared for. The rooms are quite spacious and clean. On the ground floor there is a bar and you can eat something both for breakfast lunch and dinner. It is not an extremely cheap place but not expensive. Ideal for a few days holiday.

Comfortable Hotel, nice location in front of the park, only problem there are no towels in the bathroom.

No soap, no towels, parking spaces and rooms absurdly expensive and toilet paper we had to pick up constantly at the reception as we were only replenished once… Oh and the rooms are tiny military barracks… Not recommended.

A hotel with individual rooms and bath at a good price for Amsterdam. The water of the shower did not have a lot of pressure and came out warm, being winter it is a great judgment that what you want to get off the street is a shower warm. I do not go without trying the bacon pancakes from the canteen!

Great location, 10 minutes from Amsterdam Central and 40 minutes from Schipol Airport. Rooms are clean and comfortable, great for solo travellers or those in groups. Bar and club on site, beautiful building. Secure for your belongings too and access by card only to rooms.

Would definitely stay again. Rooms were clean, private bathroom in the 4-bunk room, and great vibe and atmosphere in the common space. Also a fully stocked cafe in the lobby, which is an added plus. Very cheap and close to transport.

Pros: bar and food available throughout. Can come and go early or late. Has a nightclub attached on Saturday. Cons: far from city centre so cabs are a must. Food in hotel is very mediocre. Rooms are noisy and the nightclub can be heard below as well as neighbours. They provide no towels, soap and they don’t make the beds but charge hotel prices. The rooms is essentially a twin room but they shove 4 beds inside — no chair provided so it’s a prison type experience of chilling in your dorm. The staff are reasonably friendly. The basement area was completely taped off with no table tennis room and the auditorium was booked out for a private party essentially excluding us from any entertainment. I’ve been to Amsterdam previously and would recommend a hotel nearer the centre.

The generator chain is always reliable, rooms clean and staff cortesissimo.
Convenient as location because it served by tram and bus.

A very very good point ashore to organize a trip with friends. Restaurant part very well; Bar party too. A table tennis table and an opening on the park very appreciable.

Modern hostel but not suitable for families, room with bunk beds and no cabinets chairs and tables. Soap and towels to buy apart and no cleaning of the room…

This hostel was one of the nicest I've stayed in so far. Everything is modern and new and the modified classroom and library are really cool. Location is great being inside the park but you really need a bike to get downtown. The reason I'm not giving it 5 stars was the floor of our room was really dirty and no one came to clean it over the 4 days we were there. The rooms all had card key locks and felt secure but there were some sketchy homeless people wandering inside the hostel at night and it didn't seem like there was any security. Also no kitchen and you're not supposed to bring any outside food or drinks in. Probably not the best place to meet fellow backpackers due to the size. Either way I'd stay here again.

Hostel suitable for young people. Nice atmosphere and location, great public spaces (hall, bar, auditorium, study room, etc. ) and decent cleaning. The city centre can be easily reached by tram. Negative notes: High prices for some services and rooms a bit uncomfortable.

Generator Hostel is located in a really nice park. It's great to wake up to a beatiful forest and do wake&bake ;) It's quite expensive though, especially of weekends, but the atmosphere makes up for it; expect chill and good vibes! I have to mention that the sink system is bad in 4 people mix shared rooms. Bathroom and shower have their own door but the sink/tap is in the room and 2 meters away from the beds. Its only a problem in the mornings because you can heard a lot of noise. Overall, I enjoyed my stay in this place very much!

I traveled a lot around the world and slept in a lot of different hostels and this one is the best one ever! I really recommend it, safe, the room is clean and the beds confortable, near the transportation to go to the city center, the environment is good and people are so nice! It's the luxury of hostels and its not expensive at all! I'll came back for sure!

Brilliant location. Fantastic view from top floor rooms (wouldn't it be fantastic if they cleaned the windows once in a while? ). I was here on a business trip, so might not be the right target group. I like the cafe and the decor — but I didn't appreciate the very load music from early morning til late night. But I guess they are catering to the party-prone youth (with a big budget. When I travelled as backpacker, I didn't pay 95 Euros for room).

This hostel is awesome in terms of facilities — great rooms and a good cafe/bar downstairs. It's a nice spot about 20 minutes out of central but close enough to walk. Definitely worth considering, if you want to stay somewhere a bit nicer than your average hostel.

While the hostel is slightly far from all the action meaning the red light district and dam street. The hostel itself is set in the middle of a gorgeous park which makes up for the distance. The beds are super comfortable. The food is outstanding and the staff friendly. I loved generator.

We stayed in a two single bed room for 4 nights. Room was clean and the private bathroom was great as well. It's located in Oostpark which makes the 5 minute morning walk to the tram or bus station located right outside the park really scenic. Staff were polite and accommodating.

Generator Amsterdam is certainly nice and flashy. Excellent vibe, nice rooms, comfy beds, and the restaurant is even pretty good (not terribly overpriced either). But they really want to nickel and dime you for everything. For example, there isn't even any handsoap included in our bathroom. I mean, a lot of people travel with soap but it you are sharing a room with 3 strangers they may not want the soap that's been all over your body. Just saying.

Absolutely phenomenal hostel, the best one that I stayed in over my two week holiday in Europe. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful when there was a mixup with the people in the room. Food is excellent for the price, right next to a lovely big park with nice wildlife and the only hostel I stayed in where the rooms weren't far too warm. Well recommended to anyone staying in Amsterdam, excellent place to stay!

Stayed in a private twin room. Modern place, pretty new. Central air conditioning. Not very far from the city center. Will stay again. Highly recommend.

Very nice place to stay — almost like a hotel. Lots of good amenities, friendly staff. It has a funky vibe that makes everything a little more interesting.

The hotes is beautiful and very clean. The rooms are small but they are very well laid out and the beds are super comfortable. The comids of the bar has very good price and the workers I am very nice and polite.

My girlfriend and I stayed in a double room for three nights and it was great. Although it was loud and lively downstairs, we hardly heard a thing in the room. The room itself was comfortable and suited our plan of just sleeping there and eating out. The park around the hostel is lovely, full of wildlife. The hostel is fantastically placed to get into central Amsterdam and the museum area. Tiny down-sides are not worth mentioning.

Inexpensive option if you need a nice neat place to stay. The rooms are clean and cozy. Each has a shower, sink and toilet. On the first floor canteen. Inconvenient that there is no kitchen and the food with a not it is welcomed in any form. There is a snack bar and bar is unmatched in the lecture hall. Go to Peter.

The private room we got was beautiful, complete with towels, shampoos, soaps and lotion — but a bit pricey. Atmosphere in the lounge and bar is very fun! Definitely recommend for people wanting to have fun.

The hostel and rooms are nice, all very clean and tidy, has a nice modern feel to it and the facilities are everything you would need from a hostel. A couple of the staff weren't particularly helpful but most were whenever you needed to ask something. Would definitely stay in one again.

We spent a weekend at Generator Hostel Amsterdam. We had a twin room on the third floor. The rooms are small but very quiet and clean. In principle, the target group seems to be more younger. From the hostel you can reach the city centre after a short walk.

Very clean and welcoming. Staff are very friendly. I stayed in a room with three others and they were respectful. Common areas are lively in the evenings. Guests stay out late and could hear them coming and going past midnight. Didn't bother me too much, except when people would talk in the hallways. Overall, it is a pleasant experience.

Ideal for young people, cool auditorium with live music and acceptable prices.

Excellent, cozy, modern, relaxed style, situated right next to a beautiful park, nice restaurants nearby. Has bikes for rental, and a night club/drinks. Staff I met were students, willing to be your friends. Breakfast is a great deal. Bar is very good as well, be it for a coffee, or dinner. If you like riding a bike to your destination, Generator an awesome choice!

Very swanky! Hipster central. 2 stops and walk away from Amsterdam Central. The person who did the interior design for most beautiful hostel. Since it's a large hostel not their most ideal for solo travelers, but there's a bar and LOTS of comfy chilling areas so meeting only requires a friendly "Hey there how are you? " to get the conversation going. It's a bit lowey now, but after the locals know and give the certified hipster stamp and I can seem this being (as it slowly is becoming) a very popular hostel.

Nice hostel, although the staff has not shown very available. The rooms however are nice and clean, the food is great. A negative note goes to the location, as it is located a little outskirts from the city.

This well. The room is quite small, but for the use I give it (to sleep and this) is enough. You do not have towels for the shower, I rented for 5€. I have not eaten anything in the histel, but the prices seem to me to be expensive (although all of Amsterdam is what it is, so that the same is not so expensive)

The new Design-Hostel is proof that Hotels are not only cooler than Hotels. In the old lecture hall of the DJ. The location at the Park is fantastic. The very good Breakfast with a professional coffee machine, fresh oranges, and warm Croissants, which provides a lot of other Hotels in the shade.

Nice, clean, and modern hostel! I've only slept here a few times. Haven't eaten here. It's a very nice yet cheap place to overnight in Amsterdam. By bike it is about 10 min. From the City Center. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would recommend renting a bike while staying here, saves you precious time and a nice way to get around Amsterdam!

Modern, economic and suitable for young people. Well connected to the city centre with the tram. The rooms are average clean. Not included are towels that have a cost of 5 euros each, as they are not included the cleaning of the room. However, considering the price and the overall quality of the hostel and strongly recommend it.

Verdict: A hip hostel you have to sacrifice location for. Best for people traveling in groups, not good for solo travelers who do not want to party all the time. Shower and toilet in the rooms which I initially thought was a good thing, but I was stuck with two dirty boys for the whole week, and the toilets were only cleaned once every 3-4 days, which meant I had to use the toilets outside, whereas in traditional hostels where you share showers and toilets, you can simply use another stall if one is dirty. It also meant you could hear every business that went on in the bathroom. There's a club downstairs on the weekends, so it's great if you want to party, but not so great if you want to sleep. It's good for group travelers, as you can get nice cocktails with live DJ right outside, and can share a toilet with your friends.

Tiny room, almost unbearable. I was with three of my friends there cambiavami turns in a panchinetta inside the room, there are windows to be opened for change of air, no soap, no towels, and most important thing missing from the kitchen! The pros are the bar, cosy, low prices, and it's good enough.

First time staying in a hostel and it was great, the beds were comfy and the bedding was clean, location is great and the bar is awesome and we'll priced. Stayed with friends in a mixed 4bed, it had decent storage and a good shower with separate toilet. Each bed had both an EU and a USB charging point with a lamp. Bring a towel and padlock if you're sharing with strangers. Will definitely stay again.

The generator hostel in Amsterdam was amazing. Very clean and lovely staff. It was slightly out of the city, but was either a nice walk (which we got to see more of the city then if we were staying in the heart), or an easy tram ride in. I would recommend this to a friend and can't wait to go back there again.

Amazing hostel! More like a hotel. The location is not so close to the center but there's an amazing park near the hostel. There are a great restaurant in the building, good food. Good stuff! And good rooms. 10++

Ideal accommodation in a super location with good price and top services. Only the towels are a bit expensive.

The placement slightly outside of the center of the city and in a park was perfect for lazy days and just enjoying the weather, however the trip for getting to the sights is quite long so it would be advisable to rent a bike or get a metro card. The tram stops close by and goes directly to the center. The hostel facilities were wonderful! I was surprised by the size of the building and the number of guests, yet they still managed to keep everything clean, calm and quiet. They even have a quiet room called the library (though lacking books) and another room for music and noise. Great atmosphere and great beds!

The staff was super friendly and helpful. Always willing to answer any questions I had. We had a huge group and they accommodated all of us. The rooms were very clean and nice. Bathrooms were also very nice. The only downside is there were no tvs in the room and the rooms were super quiet at night, a fun would have been nice. I would definitely use this hostel again and I would also recommend to family and friends!

Top: staff, beds, lounge and toilet separated from the shower. Flop: Breakfast is likely to be more extensive, and our room was very dark, because the beds were in front of the Windows. In addition, you could not open the window.

The location is relatively good, the rooms are comfortable and are clean, have only small details like the lack of shelves in the shower room that could easily be resolved, the care offered was good. In addition, the price is very good compared with other hostels in the area.

For a Hostel, really great. The room was super modern and equipped with bathroom and toilet in really clean condition. Staff was friendly — only the price of 40 euros for a night was high, but for Amsterdam apparently common.

This is more of a family hotel than a hostel, located in amsterdam don't allow smoking or drinking in any side, if someone asks me for this place, I tell him that choose another. In addition the rates are very high for what little it offers.
