A very nice hotel in a historic ambience. The rooms are bright and spacious, the staff very friendly and the breakfast as well as restaurant great. BUT: Our rooms 160 and 166 were extremely noisy (feeling motorcycles, cars and trams drive through the room) even though the windows were closed. Missing for a "real" 4* classification wellness / sauna / pool. Unfortunately again a disappointing tip from SecretEscape and that with a very proud room price.

Stayed her for one night last year at the beginning of our honeymoon as my parents had our children one extra night hence why we only stayed one night, Our experience was great from start to finish helpful staff fantastic room great breakfast. Would stay again.

A beautiful hotel, wonderful rooms and the people are very friendly. The rooms are very clean and you can buy something to eat or drink 24 hours a day.

We loved our stay. Our only complaint was the absence of fresh percolated coffee at the breakfast buffet. A four Star property should not leave this important task to an automated vending machine.

We've stayed in many beautiful hotels but this was really gorgeous set in Oosterpark not too far from city. Original decor and finery. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast amazing with so much choice and plentiful and set in a gorgeous nature haven glass restaurant. My 14 year old really loved it there and it was booked as a special treat for her. Would highly recommend and go back and stay again.

Beautiful landscape, great park, but filthy rooms.

In all a 100% nice experience! Me and my partner stayed for two nights in early June 2019. We had a lovely room with a spectacular bathroom! The design is overwhelming and next to the hotel there is a refreshing park. The breakfast buffet is correct but unfortunately something was always missing (coffee cups, glasses, food and beverage on the buffet etc). With some better organisation and training of the staff even the restaurant will be perfect!

Stayed here for my 21st Birthday. Walked in to balloons, Prosecco & everyone’s rooms had been upgraded. Great location & staff couldn’t of been more helpful.

Great hotel and ideallic location. Duplex double room which was unexpected and a pleasant surprise. Easy to commute to the centre and the surrounding areas. Only negative was our safe didn't work but we used the safe in reception. Don't know what the breakfasts are like as they seemed expensive when there were better alternatives a short bike ride or tram journey away. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will most certainly be returning here.

What strikes me the most is the location of this bubbling alive hotel. It is right next to a park over looking it. All the business in the center of town and then being outside relaxing in the restaurant viewing the park is wonderful. But it is also a great hotel. The welcoming staff are very helpful. The rooms are large and well equipped. Nice beds, seating, shower/bath/airco. What do you want more… park your car? Not a problem it seems. A car park is available (reservation recommended). A minor point is the transport to the center of town. You have to walk a bit to a tram or the metro. But who is visiting Amsterdam and does not want to walk?. You can also rent a bike or take a taxi of course. All in all a great hotel as it is. But it can even be greater if it were easier to find and access, the main entrance/lobby from the street or park is not completely obvious. We have had a great stay. Thanks Arena Hotel.

The staff are very friendly and the room was very nice to stay in. The Hotel Arena also has a great Cafe outside where you can get lunch, dinner or drinks. It's close to the Tram line and is only a 10-15 minute ride back to Amsterdam central. If you are looking for a nice place to stay in Amsterdam I would reccomend The Hotel Arena. They won't disappoint.

This hotel was beautiful. Although, they did a cheap renovation which was very obvious. The lobby and restaurant were well taken care of but the hallways that led to the rooms were dark, dank, and dusky. Our rooms were never really cleaned, didn't replace glasses or coffee, just made the bed. No real privacy in the restrooms which were all glass. It was a unique place but with that being said it was also far away from the city center. It was advertised as city center which is simply not true.

Hotel Arena is a beautiful old (renovated) building in a gorgeous park setting. I stayed in a king room in the very top of the building, and it was an interesting experience! Was definitely worth it at the price I paid (I found a discounted room and then got a discounted upgrade) but I would have been a little sad had I paid top dollar, as there were a lot of little things that didn't seem quite right (floors were a bit grubby, walls marked, toilet cleaner not clean, no iron and no hangers to be seen). I will temper this review by noting I have just spent 8 days in a hostel, so I'm not sure if this makes me more or less critical! But free luggage storage, extremely helpful staff and a great cafe. And as I said, a beautiful building! I would stay again, especially if I got a good deal.

Excellent hotel great abundant and tasty breakfasts located in a beautiful park to the southeast of downtown.
The only drawback is the loft rooms for the stairs, too narrow and steep, both for the warm in the sleeping area.
Slightly pricey but on average with city prices.

Good location OK for a seminar, original rooms sometimes duplex. Little storage. No gym unfortunately.

My husband and I just spent two nights at the arena for our wedding anniversary. The building itself is amazing, converted cathedral with vast hallways and traditional touches, set in the beautiful ooster park… The room was beautiful, a small lounge area, a posh shower room (the glass walls were a surprise but we didnt mind them. ) and a mezzanine bedrooom with the MOST comfortable bed i've ever slept on! The bottle of prosecco and balloons were a lovely touch. The staff were all lovely and helpful. We will definitely be coming back.

The hotel is located very close to the city centre with easy connections via both metro and trams. The rooms are spacious and modern. The hotel in itself is huge and has a historic yet modern feel attached to it. The service is good and the restaurant is fantastic. There is a huge park in right in front of the hotel which only adds to its charm and tranquility. The prices are decent and it can be a very good option for weekend as well as long term travellers.

Nice hotel, quiet and central The breakfast buffet is very limited for this category though.

The hotel is recycled in what was a former orphanage and nursing home. The old church that served the asylum has become an event hall. It has a bar and restaurant with a view of the park that offers chairs and tables on the outside to enjoy the sun in summer. The staff at the hotel are friendly although it is restaurant service could improve.

Hotel grounds are lovely, nice location and easy to get around. Most of the staff were friendly but a few were not keen to help. The room had potential, however cleaning was practically non existent with dusty floors, plastic wrappers and stained sheets. This was odd considering we waited 4 hours for our room to be cleaned upon arrival. There was a distinct bin smell coming in through our window which we could not close as the room was too warm and the air con didn’t work. We didn’t use the bar or restaurant, however it appeared to have a good vibe and atmosphere. I would stay here again as the cost was not too expensive, but would consider a room upgrade.

Well decorated and clean, helpful and friendly staff. Situated in a lovely park. Would advise renting bikes from the the hotel as it's a 30-40 minute walk to to Centraal but the metro is easy to use. Rooms are well equipped and have TV with both Dutch and English channels. Strange glass walled bathroom so make sure you know who you're staying with!

The rooms are a bit cramped (like almost everything in Europe). Good attention. Located in a very quiet area of Amsterdam at the foot of a beautiful park. Price per room quite high.

Great hotel only flat the window of the room which did not close well so there was a slight stream of air in the room. Superb park in front for a stroll, the hotel is located in a quiet area.

Hotel is lovely, rooms are average. Lovely bar / restaurant area. However I am really angry with how this hotel operates. I only received part of my holding deposit back due to a mystery SEPARATE VAT invoice being deducted from it. So basically EVERYTHING you buy inside the hotel is ex VAT so expect a large sneaky invoice (that I never even saw a copy of until I questioned the missing money I noticed from my account). I was charged city tax on checkout of 15% per night? Google says it should be 5%. I questioned hotel but have not received an explanation. Still fighting to get my money back. Absolutely shocking. Staff need training. This is borderline illegal in my opinion.

Great hotel we were pleasantly surprised. Good value for money. Tram right next door that takes to downtown very quickly.

Very nice hotel. Very clean and comfy beds. It has a lovely park right outside the front front door. Could have late night food options or vending machines.

The hipest wwII sanctuary I've ever been to (also the first) would definitely recommend staying here if you're going here with your wife or girlfriend. The bathroom can be a bit to open (glass walls) to stay here with friends. But it's fine if your comfortable. Can't comment on the breakfast but it definitely looked good, but since I had to add another 21 euro I couldn't be bothered this time. If I'm ever going back to Amsterdam I'm definitely staying here!

Superb room, location, quality resto on site.

Hotel great place to stay. Very nice atmosphere. In a old church but modern feel. Grate Food and service fantastic. Only criticism is. No headboard on the bed. No wardrobe in bedroom for some reason even though there is space. It was one on lower level of split room and the room had everything in it you need for a comfortable stay. And other things which could improve on was theToilet in reception had paper towels not a hand dryer there's Not much to have a say about but l am picky being a designer builder. But would definitely stay again loved it. Was a fair walk to the central. About 35 minutes but there are trams and taxis at a 12 euro cost.

Staff were all so lovely and polite. The food in the restaurant was amazing. The decor in the public areas of the hotel were so beautiful and we loved our little apartment. Thank you for a wonderful stay ❤️

We absolutely loved our week long stay at Hotel Arena Amsterdam. We had several friends meet us in Amsterdam from America for New Year’s Eve celebrations and we all stayed there. The hotel is gorgeous, set right on an amazing lush park with ponds and wildlife. The staff were all good looking, sweet and very helpful! The restaurant had delicious food that was well priced and the rooms are really clean and well designed. It was very easy to get into the central down town area as well. Thank you to the staff of Hotel Arena for making our stay and our friends stay really amazing, we will be back to stay with you!

The hotel is nicely located in a park, is nicely designed, and the food was delicious. The room we had was however far too small and poorly located for the price category.

Stay Easter 2017 very well located but we had unfortunately a double room, which was of the size rather a single room, toilet only limited to use, as the glass door was not closed… At least 4 cm open…
A second duvet was only available on demand and there was no closet!

This is good as a hotel… but the attention leaves a bit of desire.

Really great structure, from the photos views on the site does not make much! But live is really nice! The structure is between the ancient is the contemporary as you can see from the photos.
Finished in every detail! The staff was very friendly The only flaw coming from Italy and that there is no bidet thing that we use for the rest that say more I recommend it!

I scored a good deal on a two-night stay in this hotel and didn't do much research other than to check that it was relatively close to the city and that it wasn't a dive. So I was beyond surprised when we arrived to see that the hotel rests upon the corner of a beautiful park in what resembles an old cathedral. Once inside, we were also charmed by the beautifully decorated interior that made us feel like we were walking through an old mansion. Open fireplaces beckoned us for a drink, but we first had to check in, which the friendly staff happily helped us with despite the fact that it was four hours early. Opening the door to our room from the dark, elegant hallway we were greeted with even more luxury: a minimalist white sitting room, a glassed-in, black bathroom and a typical Dutch staircase that led to the bed, perched atop the room with a gallery view from above. The hotel seems to be quiet at night and the bed was very comfortable. House cleaning was excellent and there is absolutely nothing I can complain about. Highly recommended.

What about it? Fabulous Hotel.
We start from the location: The hotel is located within one of the many parks of Amsterdam, Oosterpark for precision. The park is on average small but very nice. There are ponds and tennis courts inside.
The hotel is right at the entrance to the park, and you feel like you have a huge garden all to yourself. Beautiful is to take advantage of the bar service with a view of the park.
The hotel is elegant, historic and modern at the same time, and the rooms are fabulous (also ours which I think was the cheapest among the various types). It was divided on two levels, with the bathroom and the living room on the first floor and the double bed.
As for the meals I can not tell you anything because I had only overnight, but I can tell you that the only breakfast costs €21, an exaggeration, but so a bit throughout Amsterdam. However you can remedy by buying breakfast at the supermarket and keeping it in the room minibar.
I hope to come back soon!

Great hotel, in good and quiet location.

This hotel is a bit out of the main area. We thought it would be a bit quieter, but there was construction going on when we went there in April 2016. It started really early so was woken up at 7am. The plus side was the room, it was light, airy and had very high ceilings. The staff had also made up the room nicely for my husbands birthday.

Great hotel in great surroundings in the middle of a beautiful park. Easily accessible by public transport. Very good breakfast, so also vegans to be fed. The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are stylish and clean. Excellent shopping facilities nearby (various supermarkets, market).

Great service! Good food. Kids can play outside, while you have a nice lunch or dinner with friends and family. My kids got soaking wet playing with the fountains just close to the restaurant. The manager of the hotel provided us with a dry arena uniform for them. Kids loved it and so did we.

Great location next to a family friendly park. Very unique and modern room. We appreciated the large windows. Stairs in the room were cool, but kept us pretty uneasy with our 3 yr old running around. Small air conditioning unit on first floor of room did not cool the upstairs (bed is located upstairs). Wifi did not work. Half the time it did not even show as an available network. What we thought was included breakfast turned out to be 19.5 euros each. Difficult to tell my hungry 3 yr old we were going somewhere else for breakfast. That said, we happened into The Breakfast Club — a fantastic breakfast place within walking distance of the hotel.

Pros: Next to a park Very interesting building Great atmosphere at night Cons: The rooms are a hit or miss; some were cramped for 2 people, others has a weird "dirt" smell going on, and most have see through bathrooms (clear glass or lightly tinted glass) People will smoke weed in the rooms (this is a non smoking hotel) which will spread into neighbouring rooms and the hall and will stay there for hours The staff was not helpful or friendly Housekeeping did not clean the bathrooms or rooms very well, they wouldn't even make the bed properly The breakfast was disappointing to say the least The park at night was filled with drunk people, homeless people, and kids smoking pot The rooms are 2 floors with stairs so be prepared to have a bed on one floor and the bathroom on the other The parking garage did not open for our car to enter or leave (we were there for 5 days) and we had leave the car, go upstairs, and ask the reception to open the gate (and they would say "oh yeah we see your car") Bathroom was not very nice Overall it's an "okay" hotel with below average rooms and bad service. Not worth the price.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and we loved it. It's a little outside of the busy center which was perfect for us. It was quiet and we were able to get good nights rest! The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and is in a great park setting. We had a large room with a king size bed and a soaker tub. The staff is super friendly and made our stay very comfortable. We will definitely be back!

The right thing in a price

The hotel was really good with very friendly staff. It's one of the prettiest hotels I've visited even with the refurbishments that went on. The two-floored room I was in was clean and comfortable though I have to say that if you're on the obese side, you may struggle to get up the stairs to the bed as it's a rather tight squeeze. The list of drinks and food are extensive and not cynically priced like at a lot of big city hotels but this shows awareness of competition from local bars & restaurants. I'd be happy to visit this hotel again when we next visit Amsterdam.

A great stay at the Hotel Arena. We were on the 3rd floor, so had to lug suitcases up one flight, but we were rewarded with a huge room, giant bath with soaking tub, and pretty courtyard view. For the price it was great. I would stay again.

The Arena Hotel is a rare place. The decoration is modern and sober. The staff are very helpful and professional.

Hotel booked via a tour operator, and a very bad surprise. At our arrival no explanation on the Wi-Fi or on the breakfast, we were just vaguely told our room. There was a wedding in the hotel, it was chaos: Fanfare, Brazilian dancer, children running in the hallways and drunk bridesmaids! Our room was located the door stuck to the reception room! Not able to sleep in this room we asked for another room more quiet. The manager looked surprised at our request because for him there was no problem. He offered us a room with separate beds then negotiating 50 e a room after him bigger and quieter. Okay! We arrive in this second room which smelled of mildew (humidity) with practically no furniture! Bathroom with moldy and dirty and toilet with pubic hair of the previous customer! At the head of the bed on the wall there were traces of projections on the wall that looked very much like vomit! That's a bad vibe.
The next day we changed hotel so we had to spend another 2 night
Short Hotel to avoid! No! Never again! At the price of the room C is a scandal!

Everything is great so far! :) happy again.

Spent 3 nights here as a base to explore Amsterdam. Great location in a lovely park and easy access to trams in all the directions that we wanted to go. We bought a transport pass at the airport, which lasted us 96hours and cost 22€ each and caught trams everywhere, this was a perfect arrangement. The hotel was clean, great decor and our room and ensuite were spacious and spotless (no milk for our tea tho! ). Breakfast was good and the evening meal we ate on our first evening was tasty. The hotel is undergoing renovations and expansion at the moment, but neither disturbed our stay (nor did the conferences that were being held at the time of our visit) The staff were charming and attentive, without encroaching on our space. We really can't recommend it enough and our only minor niggle would be the choice of music in the restaurant — there is so much good music about, the 'plinky plonky' canned version being played over the system, seemed a mismatch to the chic sophisticated image they appeared to be aiming for! Thank you Arena staff for making our stay a happy one.

Nice Staff. The location is not explore the best of the best in the city. Room is small with small beauty mistakes. A little too expensive for the performance offered.

Very Special 4 star hotel…
Located in the central part but quite moved from the tourist areas. In front of it has a beautiful park that in the morning is appreciated while you do glue…
Our room was a very small BASIC two-storey, under we had a shower and a couch with the TV and on C? It was a very comfortable double bed very soft + other Tv. With a gigantic window that lights up the whole room… Breakfast was very good… and I do not doubt the quality of the restaurant where I eat very well (entrecéttè) price average for the restaurant.
We absolutely loved the drink offered to eat when we want during the stay.
Hotel recommended.
Pros + Comfort, staff, service.
Cons — expensive collar for those who only take a coffee in the morning or still do not eat 15 euro of glue:D

Hotel conveniently located in relation to the city centre, fast access to public transport (tram, metro and bus).

Very modern Hotel. We had a beautiful room on 2 floors, on the upper, then, was to find the bed. Also the room was very modern and we were really in love! Direct at the Hotel bordering a beautiful Park. The nearest Tram Station, walk about 3 minutes.

Spectacular hotel with good facilities good environment, a spectacular park where you can take the children for a walk in a quiet area of Amsterdam recommends that your entire site runs along a former monastery and very highly recommended your stay.

4 star Hotel (! ). Hotel very uncomfortable. Tiny rooms and floppy mattresses, without any comfort in particular in the bathroom: not even a shelf for the toilet. You have to put your things on the ground. The place is dirty and poorly maintained, the staff does not exist. It is based on restaurant and bar open to the public with high attendance. To avoid.

This hotel will have a lot of charm when it is finished.

Hotel in renovation without prior notice… nice rooms but cleanliness leaves to be desired… good location but does not have bike rental… breakfast not 4 star and the espresso you pay apart… staff not always educated is knowledgeable… plus a 2/3 star that A 4…

I'm stunned, so bad this Hotel was. 1. We had booked a Suite, not even really expanded. The cleanliness was under all Sow, both the sink and the bathtub were moldy, the parquet was not entering barefoot. 2. The TV was completely broken, and hovering around, you're there in weeks, no one had noticed that someone had ripped the complete Antennenbuckse out, alo no TV
3. IN the bathroom a defeckter fan was installed, the was so grubby, the the buzz of working in irregular-sized intervals, very good sleep at night. Never again this Hotel.

It is a funeral, unfortunately, was game for the high-priced rooms. Internet did not work, telephone was broken, the staff unprofessional and as well as arrogant. The worst, however, was that the Hotel is a complete construction site. At 7:00 o'clock in the morning the work began. You could escape just yet. Catastrophic.

Comfortable accommodations, newly remodeled.

Very elegant and welcoming. Our room was on 2 levels with a large balcony to have breakfast or to enjoy a good cup of tea. The staff then was prepared!

We had a lovely stay at this hotel, in fact when we first walked in we stepped back and thought we'd gone though the wrong door because it looked so lovely and inviting for what we'd paid in advance. The place is very modern but cosy and comforting to go back to after a long day exploring the city. The shower and facilities in the large studio room were fantastic and we called on the staff for advice about the area, who were so friendly and helpful. Little details like the quality of the toiletries all just add to the quality feeling.

We stayed at Hotel Arena for 3 nights, and were generally satisfied with our stay. The customer service was excellent. Our Deluxe Room was quite snug, and we had issues with where to place our luggage. For an idea, the space on all three sides of the bed was barely enough to place our carry-ons down on the floor. The bed was two twin mattresses pushed together, but they did not stay in place if you happened to roll into the center. The mini-fridge in the upstairs loft did not work. The shower design is odd, with lots of water seeping out into the rest of the bathroom. The shower stall was very moldy towards the drain, although the rest of the bathroom was spotless. The location isn't terribly far from the city center, but I wouldn't call it super convenient either. It's a 10 minute walk to the Alexanderplien tram stop (there's a stop much closer, but that tram line won't take you to the center), followed but a 10-15 minute ride to most attractions. Overall, an OK experience.

I stopped here 2 years ago for 2 nights. The hotel was immaculate and so to were the staff. All food were excellent and the bar was very good throughout the day and night. A truly fantastic experience, well done to all concerned running their fabulous hotel. Dank U.

I stayed about 2 weeks here several years ago and loved it. Very friendly staff and nice people everywhere. Vending machine had really good beer for about $0.60 U. S. Each. Lounge and TV room were the places to hang out, though attached restaurant and bar were great too. Just too pricy to hang out in all the time. I met a lot of great people here and I'm very glad to have chosen this place. I stayed in 3 other hotels in Amsterdam on my trip and this was definitely the best. Thank you Arena Hotel! A memorable part of a memorable trip. I only wish I could remember more of it. Actually, I don't. That's why it was so much fun.

Had a great stay at the hotel arena. Be attracted by the clear website, which does not disappoint them. Spacious rooms, great breakfast and a beautiful park just next to it. There is no central medium, but is there tram number nine and agreat Park right next door. Smiling staff and fun bar with Club next door. Would stay again.
