Review of Emerald Hotel & Suites Calgary Airport 2*

I have a super tiny budget! So This is my go to hotel wen me and my bf need to get away from our family homes. Last year this location got 5 stars. Easy. But its obvious that they must b under new ownership bcuz the last 6months theyv gone waaaaaay down in every area. Staff. Service. Rooms. Housekeeping. Everything. Im super easy going and understand that a bill $100 is the lowest in HOTEL price for smoking room NE calgary. Below that, u will only afford crack Motels. Depending on how picky/hi maintanance u are… this is my opinion from someone whos spent at least 1night a month. So here: Smoking rooms : almost all rooms have fd up air condition unit. Like a couple rooms; the knobs are completely dislocated and dirty. Like the whole unit is discolored yellow… I always use toilet tissue to turn the knobs (when theyr working. ) Over all not bad bed & bedding. Not dirty. Remember people: sleep INSIDE THE WHITE ON WHITE SHEETS. The outside layer is just a cover & often doesnt get washed after every visitor. Some rooms have fridge. Some dont. Almost all standard smoking room have no microwave. The TV was great. PPV movies & decent channel selection but recently for some reason u must call the front desk to like turn on ur ability to PPV. Never used to… New ownership…? Maintanace service sucks terribly! One time recently. Waited an hour. Literally a full hour for a plunger! After calling front desk 3 times asking for one. Pestering 2 housekeepers in the hallway and finally going to the front desk myself-PLUS the Hour-i got a plunger which the maintanace guy told me THEY ONLY HAD THE ONE so he waited outside the door for me to give it back… Again… new ownership? 1 plunger for a hotel of how many rooms… PLeAse… If ur not picky about little things like that. And hopefully u have no need to call the staff. Bcuz the staff now is extremely unorganized. Rude. Lazy. Unintelligent. And will make you feel like your doing something wrong by calling on them. Otherwise. Decent place. You get what you pay for. And 100$ is not much these days. If youv already booked or hav a tiny budget like me, prepare urself. Like I always bring my own shower things. And wet wipes or lysol wipes. Eat out for dinner. And youll b totally fine. F the staff and jus chillax wit ur friends or the tv.
