Great atmosphere on the Sat night we were there. Great service with lots of smiles. Perfect chillout music. And yes, it was early.

First time at this place and will be the absolute last. DISGUSTING customer service your staff are RUDE, UNEDUCATED and clearly have no customer service skills whatsoever. The man that services was dramatic and rude and when asked for a refund walked off cause "he was shaking" Please train your staff better because they make this place look like an absolute disgrace of a place. Definitely dont stay here. Manners would also help what a pig of a man who served us.

Would not recommend at all especially if you are staying with a family/children or wanting to sleep. Rooftop bar operates until 2am on Sunday morning, music, bass, voices all night.

Apparently they were too busy at the bar so room service wasn’t a priority.
Neighbours had a party, reception had phones on mute so were not answering.
Overall, horrible experience.
Also take between 3 to 31 days for bond refund to be refunded.

We enjoyed our night at the Island. A much needed night away from our crazy household /kiddies. We just relaxed, listened to the music from downstairs and people watched. 😊

I encountered discrimination here at its finest. I was visiting this hotel as a guest of my friends wedding. They pick and choose who the "no hand tattoo" rule applies to. The bar staff were so very rude about it and were the opposite of "hospitable". What a ridiculous policy to have in this day and age of inclusiveness. If you had half a clue you would realise how damaging this can be to your business. I saw one man there that was causing alot more problems than "tattooed" me who was just quietly minding my own business enjoying my friends company. Didnt kick him out though. Get with the times. What an embarrassment of a business.

My first visit to the venue, the customer service was extremely poor. Bar staff on the rooftop were unprofessional and rude. Thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt as the venue is so beautiful and we booked and paid for my Sisters 30th to be held there. Upon arrival, with all 30 guests we were refused entry as my sister had a very small, unnoticeable (3cm long) Tattoo on the inside of her finger. You can only see it if her fingers are spread apart. We were advised no hand tattoos are permitted into the venue. Now I understand rules are rules, but seriously, you can't even see the Tattoo and you refused 30 paying guests into your venue for it. Absolute discrimination not to me too unprofessional. We were then advised that a refund would be provided within 48 hours. The refund should've been processed on the spot. Very disappointed with the management and service of this venue. Such a shame as it is so beautiful. We will not be returning.

Absolute rip off. Mutton dressed as lamb, should have been demolished with the iluka. Watered down over priced drinks. Terrible service from management. Got terribly sick from the food. Ruined my daughters 21st birthday. And now avoiding refund. Do not waste your money on this dump. The place is run by hood rats. A place trying to be a 5 star hotel but isn’t even 1 star.

My partner and I only stayed 1 night but The service from the reception staff was amazing! I Felt so welcomed and greeted with a big smile on arrival. Easy check-in/check-out, fantastic price and location would definitely recommend.

We stayed NYE but this was NOT the place to stay with children. We paid a huge amount for one night but we not able to access the facilities, access to the pool closed from 1700, kids no longer allowed to swim, normally the pool closed at 2100, kids were not able to have a night swim that they were so looking forward to. The bar and the restaurant was also closed, so we had to go out into Surfers and eat, that is fine, but then when we return, unable to easily access our room due to security and party goers everywhere. This became progressively worse as the night continued, when we returned from seeing the rained-out fireworks on the beach, we had extremely drunk party goers, actually pushing us and the children out of the way to get into the lifts to access the penthouse event. We had to wait about 15 minutes to get in a lift to go to our room. The children experienced, foul language and were physically pushed out of the way. There was no adherence to COVID19 or smoking restrictions.
The room was very nice — reached out the hotel for feedback and haven't received any response or any form of communication at all.

Love the place with ease to get to, friendly reception staff (Dean the man), beautiful rooms for family or couples to relax or party. Breakfast included with my package and it was amazing. Central location in the heart beat of the famous surfers paradise. Highly highly recommend The island Gold Coast to everyone. We just enjoyed Christmas Day lunch at The Island and it was perfect! The variety and quality of food could not be faulted, the new functions space—The Glasshouse—has great ambiance. The room
was not overfilled with guests making it pleasant with lots of space to move about. The option to buy your own drinks rather than have them included in the overall package is also a winner and set the package apart from others on offer for Christmas Day. Thank you, The Island, for the excellent spread, generous service and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended.

The coolest hotel on the Gold Coast! The fit out of the rooms and public areas is amazing and unique. Has fantastic retro vibes with an awesome restaurant, rooftop and bars.

This place was fantastic booked a 6 night stay and on arrival reception advised us they have upgraded our room, when going to the room it was a suite and we were shocked. The space, kitchen, facilities, even the blow dryer was a strong one not one of those useless overheating ones that are attached permanently to the wall or drawer. The service was a 5/5, cleanliness was great and they even advise you of how to get around what to do and breakfast every morning was great. Would defiantly recommend.

Loved the styling of the hotel. It had a warm cozy feeling. Convenient location coupled with free parking made for an easy booking decision. The breakfast buffet didn't have much variety but it wasn't too bad. Overall, we'd come back and stay here again.

Fabulous hotel with a very convenient and central location — the on-site facilities and relaxed vibe mean that if you don't want to leave you really don't have to! The King bed was comfortable and room and bathroom were clean and pleasant. The staff were very friendly and accommodating across the hotel and bar/food areas. The food and drinks were delicious, and with car parking on site we would highly recommend The Island and look forward to our next stay!

Honestly, we could not believe the quality offered at the price. Magazine worthy design, quality fittings, comfortable bed, plenty of towels, beautiful toiletries, great food & fantastic staff in a perfect location. Of all 6 places we stayed at as we made our way up & down the coast, The Island was by far the best — the only one I would actively encourage friends & family to stay at, and would love to revisit.

Went there last night, the venue obviously caters for those going night clubbing after drinks at the venue and it is like a ghost town around 9pm. Prior to this and if you are hoping to eat, you will have to order at the bar, waiting for "cool" staff trying to pick up patrons. If you are a party of people, don't expect your meals to be delivered at the same time, as this depends on when your order was placed, given that bar staff are trying to pick up patrons.

Really nice facilities and rooms! The location is fantastic if you want to be close to the beach and Cavill Ave. The restaurant downstairs looks nice, we had the included breakfast, unfortunately the free breakfast options are a bit limited (lots of sweet food, but toast was be only hot food available). Staff that we interacted with were professional and helpful but a smile would have made the service more friendly :-) Overall really nice stay!

We had a very comfortable stay here, service was excellent. Everything inside the room is very new, even the kettle in our room is of really good quality. Would recommend this hotel to all.

We have just had our wedding at The Island — the ceremony in the Mountain View Room and the reception in the Ocean View Room, both in The Penthouse and it was the most incredible day.
We fell in love with The Island the day we dropped by unannounced, one Sunday afternoon. Adam, the Operations Manager was on duty and took the time to show us up to the Penthouse and through all the facilities. When it came to planning, Emma, the Wedding Co-ordinator was with us every step of t…he way. Nothing was too much trouble and the word “absolutely” became her catch phrase. The day of the wedding came and we were treated like royalty. Nothing was too much trouble. Our bridal suite was perfect and the Penthouse looked incredible — its so glamorous and styled up beautifully and our guests drew breath when the room was revealed. The wait and bar staff were absolutely fantastic – so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. And then — the food. Wow! What an incredible job the chef and his team did at turning out volume catering at fine dining quality. All of our guests have remarked how delicious and perfectly cooked it all was – not just for a function — but for a top restaurant – and that’s really difficult to do
We danced till the wee hours no-one wanted to leave and we didn’t want the night to end. The young team at the Island understand customer service, how to completely personalise a function and how to host an event. They helped us have the most wonderful wedding.

My wife and I booked a quick weekend getaway, and upon arriving at the newly renovated Island hotel, we were absolutely impressed by the level of service from all the staff. The gentleman at the front desk went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of. The room was amazing and well presented, and bar and restaurant staff were polite and attentive. Thank you and we will definitely be back very soon.

Could not fault the Island hotel. I had great stay here with my wife in a clean and comfortable stay. Restaurant had a very generous breakfast menu that was nice. Dean went above and beyond to accommodate us and made the stay feel very special. Would definitely recommend this place.

Large scenic rooftop bar with live jazz band playing (thursday night). Very reasonable drink prices. More formal than other bars on the coast I found (by what people were wearing). Great bar for a group to have a few drinks.

Perfectly located and really nice boutique hotel in the middle of Surfers. The rooms are fitted well and feel clean and comfortable. We had a nice view from the 10th floor looking towards the beach. The bed is really comfortable and there are basic amenities in the room (no mini bar but who needs it! ). The bathroom and shower are small but very nice! There is plenty of parking available for guests, we parked in the outdoor car park which I found to be more convenient. They make nice coffee downstairs, have a bar, nice pool and everything you need. Only minutes walk to the main shopping area in Surfers and the beach. Highly recommend!

A boutique hotel with views of the beach and a stone's throw away from main shopping strip in Surfer's Paradise. It was also conveniently on the corner of the main roads next to a bunch of restaurants, from Thai and Vietnamese to Italian and Greek customers, you won't be left hungry. Their restaurant itself boasts a great variety of menu items and I wish I had another day to sit down and try some of their menu items. We were pleasantly surprised at their vegan offering as most hotels still skip over plant based offerings when planning their menu. The room itself was tastefully decorated with the most comfortable beds our whole trip compared to the "4.5 star" hotel bed we slept in in Brisbane CBD. The bathroom was small but modern and the white tiles gave it a roomier feel. We will definitely stay at The Island on our next trip.

Top Shelf. 5 star +++ I can't fault it. It really is a island surrounded by the normal. The rooms are so ultra modern and sleek. Everything you need and more Nice size balconies too. Bistro, bars and Rooftop restaurant are excellent. There's also a Vegas lounge that has a outdoor bar area on the ground level, so you can have a drink and watch the street action. Staff are so vibrant and helpful. Pool is lovely and the spa hot. You don't need to bring anything. Luxury products in the bathrooms, usb ports for charging, free Wi-Fi, free parking and beach towels for your swim. The location couldn't be better. I love this place and will be back.

It's probably a 4 star hotel based on hotel ratings. But it was a 5 star experience. Great location, the swimming pool was enjoyable, quite deep which was good fun for diving and jumping in. Room was large. We paid quite a bit but we booked very late on Christmas week. However I'd assume it would be better value other times. Staff was fantastic, no complaints whatsoever.

Just went here for drinks and a quick bite. Service was impressive and staff were very chilled. Bartender knew his cocktails and the Chef knew his pizza. Probably the best Margarita I have ever tasted, and I've done a few. Don't change anything.

Had the absolute best stay. The staff provided excellent service that went above and beyond. My girlfriend and I had our flight cancelled. We were able to enjoy another night and were given complementary cocktails. Definitely will stay again.

The room of the hotel is very basic, it has no cupboards, only a frame for clothes, a fridge with free water, a TV, a safe and free Wi-Fi. It is very well kept and clean and the view is fantastic. The location is great, but has drawbacks as it is right in the center, it is still very noisy until late evening! The reception on the first floor was very friendly and helpful.

When we arrived at the room, we saw the big cockroaches. So we used nothing of this room and checked out immediately. We couldn't sleep with cockroaches. And they said it’s not possible to refund although we used nothing. Just it allows to change the room. Also I don’t know why it’s too slow to get back the deposit $100. It’s already passed 1wk… It's too horrible memories so far…

Great rooms, planning to book same on next visit. Receptionist were really helpful and friendly. Would have been great we had more milk in the fridge as wasn’t enough for two people for tea or coffee…

Fantastic outdoor bar. The Islander was known to be an old and uninspiring building. Now it has been refurbished and I have seen the bar and the reception area and they have done a great job. It's in keeping with a Gold Coast feel but without being tacky. It was busy on the night I was there but the wait for service was not too long. We did have to delay our food order as the kitchen was at capacity but that just gave us time for another drink. It's not pretentious so check it out if you are in the area.

I can't believe we found this amazing place on our last night on the Gold Coast! That's the only disappointing thing about our experience! Service was amazing, staff are lovely, so friendly and happy. The decor is awesome. Relaxed atmosphere. Food was amazing, best steak ever! And well priced. Loved the bowl sinks in the toilets, so pretty! Will recommend to all to visit this beautiful establishment. Kid friendly too!

It was a great sized room with nice view of the city and water. Room was modern and had everything we needed. Location was great, right in the heart of Surfers so walking around was a breeze. Only downside was some of the hotel looked slightly older where it hadn't yet been refurbished.

The Island is a newly renovated hotel that has been done very well. The rooms were clean and spacious. There is free parking available which is awesome. We also visited the bar at night which had a cool relaxed vibe.

I miss the old Island hotel I thought it was sad to see it go but stayed here on the weekends and can only say they've done a fantastic job renovating it and running it now that it's renovated not only did it look good but the food it's beautiful and tasty. Nice place to take girlfriend to like all the new fittings and sheets.

I am writing because I am absolutely annoyed with the food and the service we received when we come in for breakfast Sunday. Firstly our drinks didn't come out together and came out after we had received our meals. One of the drinks for our table didn't come out until after everyone had eaten their meal and we were ready to leave. I ordered an ice chocolate and there was nothing iced about it. It was horrible I didn't even bother drinking it because it was just milk with a dash of topping. It was not even cold! The hash browns were so over cooked they were like eating cardboard. The rest of the meal was alright but we won't be back. I think your services needs to be sorted out!

Great location. Friendly staff. You can do as much or as little as you wish from your doorstep. Comfortable rooms with air con mini fridge and brilliant views. We were on level 10. Fantastic!

Tonight I got kicked out of this bar for pouring my own drink. If management had had enough staff on I wouldn't have had to wait over thirty minutes for a beer. Besides this it's a nice bar just understaffed: (

Excellent bar really good atmosphere and a good spot to go in the evenings for a drink. Large outdoor area and indoor area also would be a perfect spot for summer always a lot of people everyone's generally dressed very nicely the staff are always friendly. Place is fairly new so everything is in good condition amenities are excellent drink prices are reasonable would definitely recommend to other people it's very Central to the middle of Surfers Paradise and easy to get to.

Rooms are spacious, comfortable and stylish decorated. Beach is just 5 min walk away. Eateries and supermarket within 5 to 10 min walking distance. Outdoor parking ia also free.

I would say I was lost for words if I wasn't going to write a review. I had the rump (where the best meat is) and it was phenomenal! Ended up having a couple of cocktails too. One was some thing I couldn't pronounce, it was a tad expensive but holy crap I would totally buy that again! Another was the Island Colada it punches you with a cinnamon aftertaste which was quite pleasant. The last (so a few cocktails instead of a couple) was the Strawberry fields which I think had a …bit too much rosemary in it for my liking. It reminded me of Grandma. Weird but still palatable. I mean the drink was palatable. Not Grandma! *shudders* You guys impressed me with everything at that point so when they asked us if we wanted desert all I could say was "Show me what you gooooottttt! " Ended up with some… thing… It had flowers on it and I could eat them! Also a citrusy gelato which was also amazing. During my time dining I saw like a table of like 6 or 8 (I don't know, they were on the higher end of middle aged their skin was starting to blur together) come in, sit down, drink your superior water and then leave because it was "too expensive". I chortle in their direction pretty hard. They have no idea what they are missing out on. I would gladly pay what I paid again for another night over complaining about pizzas and drinking water. You will definitely see me again and I can't wait until schoolies when I can escape in to your safe havens after working in the Paradise Center.

Stayed here 10 years ago and was pleasantly surprised by the changes that have been made! Love the renovations! Rooms are comfortable, clean and modern. Was greeted by a helpful young lady Ellie (? ) and the girl on the bar was lovely too. The rooftop bar had a nice calm atmosphere. Could hear other guest having a blast in the pool as I overlooked the view of the city lights :) Central to everything at a good price. Thanks for the genuine good service.

They did not cleaned the room and the bathroom in 5 days… it was a 4 dorm beds though. The windows were not closing properly and the road close to the backpacker was really noisy. The curtain was in a bad shape, pieces of it were on the floor during all our stay. With all the lights from the street, it was almost like daylight during the night. Even if the housekeeping team was coming into our room (just to change the garbage bags. ) nothing was done to fix it. A screw was coming out of the head of the bed, which could be really dangerous. Only 2 gas burners were working which is not really convenient during rush hours. Really poor in ustensil. For the plate you have to hire them at the reception. Well we felt like bed numbers and it is really far from the spirit of a backpackers. It looks like they just want to make money during their renovation. I do not recommend this "backpackers".

One of the better hostels I've stayed in. The rooms are basically hotel rooms with bunk beds, which means you have your own shower and toilet. Very chilled out and clean. Price was right, too.

For a hostel the rooms are clean and it's nice having a private bathroom and fridge. Lockers are large enough for a bag. There's no air conditioning so the rooms are very hot. Front desk was not very helpful in addressing my problem with the Wi-Fi I purchased. The kitchen is barely functioning, many appliances were broken. Fine for 2 nights but wouldn't return.

This hostel was simply the hammer has a jacuzzi sauna the room every day to clean and make you feel like a hotel and it is beautifully located in the center.

This place leaves a lot to be desired. Out of 4 different accommodations I used in Surfers, the beds in this place were the worst, I didn't sleep well here at all. The mattresses are barely 2 inch's thick (You need to raise the standards). The staff have been working there way too long. They will answer your questions but they are not friendly at all. Finally I left my phone charger in my room and rang the next day to try to get it. They didn't do enough to find it and said that it wasn't there. It was left plugged in and I remember seeing it just before I left. Obviously someone was too lazy to look properly and the reception staff were too lazy to get the house keeping to look again. If you want somewhere nice, try elsewhere.

The only advantage is that the location is good, even if there is no car, very close to the bus stop bus stop, I stayed in this backpacker for four nights, the floor toilet has been dirty, my first day of stay is very dirty, but these four days they have never been clear, the only thing the housekeeping staff will do is change check-out sheets and garbage, I first night sleep on the upper bunk, Because no railings feel very insecure, sleep well, the next morning to the counter to talk to the young lady, he agreed to let me change to the lower berth, and help me and change clean sheets, but in the evening I returned to the restaurant but did not change, I and the night shift room staff to clean sheets, I change, he first said you want the sheets to do I said the housekeeping didn't change the sheets for me during the day, he said worse, they have nothing to change the sheets for you, I explained, he impatiently told me to go to the counter said, the counter agreed to ask housekeeping to send to my room, the result 20 minutes later, he knocked on the door, my roommate responded, he Victor was very impolite to ask, just that miss? When I walked, he asked me cleavage, what do you want the sheets for? Do you change the bed? I replied, the counter agreed to let me change, and then he asked, what about the dirty sheets? I said, it's still there.

The carpet was damp and wet, and the room smelled of mildew. The room reminded me of summer camp at a cottage but with a small fridge, an old TV, and an air conditioner that is incapable of conditioning. There was a warning on the balcony to keep the doors locked because of thieves "operating in the area. " I asked to change rooms because of the damp floor, but since the maintenance man was convinced it wasn't damp, we had to keep the room. It was a hassle to get a refund, but we finally got out a booked a place nearby.

Hotel style rooms with private shower room, a fridge and balcony which is nice and clean. Kitchen is small and gets busy. Kitchen, dining room and lounge is not clean. The kitchen is especially disgusting and there is a serious problem with bugs. Wifi is fast but you have to pay for it. They do not allow you to leave your bags with them as you check in/out. Would reccomend for short term as long as you do not intend to spend any time in the kitchen, dining room or lounge. 2/5.

Paid $132 for a 'one bedroom' apartment that was just a bed in a room. Walls, carpets and bathroom were dirty. Iron but no ironing board. Only good thing is location. Waste of money considering other places offer better, cleaner rooms for less money.
