Had a great stay but we were hit was a surprise fee of $200 when checking in which was not mentioned prior to booking or arriving.

A bit tatty but close to the beach great views of the ocean, adequate.

Recently stayed, the location was perfect but the room left a little to be desired, the springs on the couch were past there use by date and very uncomfortable, the outside table on the balcony was covered in bird poo and couldn’t be used, room service upon request which wasn’t explained to us and lastly a charge of a $200 bond upon arrival and then when you check out only to be told it could take up to 40 days to get back in your bank.

Had one bedroom ocean view apartment, room 3111, I was extremely happy with the cleanliness of the room and the view was perfect. The staff were very friendly and happy to help with anything I needed. 10/10 would stay again, however I highly recommend you book through the hotel directly rather than those other sites. — Mat Bickerton.

The room wasn't very nice and not really at all how it looked online when we booked. The blinds didnt work properly. The spa was quite cold and there was no way to turn it up or no way that was obivous. There also were no tissues in the room (which was annoying as my nose decided to act up).

Pros: great location (smack bang in the middle of Surfers), first hotel I've been at with actual decent, unlimited Wi-Fi, good heated pool and spa area, had downloaded movies able to stream (a greater variety would be appreciated) Cons: cockroaches in the bathroom; misleading information on website (there was four of us staying in the one room & they told us it would be suitable for us yet there was only ONE BED and ONE COUCH. It wasn't even a sofa bed, yet they didn't make us aware of this information) ; no spare blankets, pillows, towels etc; games & entertainment room was pretty bare; shower head was clogged & barely released any water with the hot & cold taps difficult to control! When the air conditioners were turned on, it was evident that they weren't cleaned out very often as the air released had an awful smell & was very dusty. Overall an okay experience. I personally don't plan on coming back based on my experience.

Expected more, very rundown old stuffy room. Lifts not working properly. Location great but that is all. Wil not come back pay more get more, pay cheep and get this rundown place.

Great central location, a walk away from everything, great views, spacious and well layed out apartments, good facilities (gym, games room, indoor pool, outdoor pool, two outdoor spas)

Very dirty and smelly premises.
Cleanliness and customer satisfaction is not important here.
Check in unfortunately not immediately, as reception is closed from 1pm.

Spent a week at the Beachcomber resort. Had great view from huge balcony on 27th floor. Really fast lifts. Would recommend and hope to return again.

Each unit is individually owned — really need to check condition of your room prior to booking in. The one we had was filthy and health risk and has been reported. The curtains were covered in a a substance either blood or bbq sauce. Stench under the sink — absolutely rotten and mouldy. Cracked tiles in bathroom. No rubbish bin at all. This room should not have been rented out in this condition. Cleaning staff would be aware of this standard but obviously situation has been ignored until someone actually makes a formal complaint which I did. Couple of pics attached. We also took a video of the entire curtaining — all covered with marks like this pic and mould.

Me and my partner stayed on the 21st floor the veiw was great lounge set up was comfortable but unfortunately there was a fair few down falls with the apartment there was no toaster to make breakfast the pan that we had to cook with was obviously left on the stove and burnt it was hard for us to even make breakfast there was no plug for the bath and there was nail clippings on the floor behind the lounge so overall wasn’t the greatest stay the place is a little run down and needs a bit of work and maybe a few more cooking utensils sorry for the bad review but thought I would like to put it out there.

Pro’s: pool, views, location, aircon, water pressure. Con’s: well well. Where to start. Pretty disappointed guys! Had booked online everything looked fantastic, great price, great location, easy and lovely check in. Walk through the door, nothing like the photos at all, the “kitchen” we were supposed to get for our “apartment” room was just a pizza oven with a hot plate on top. Clothing rack is rusted, aircon (although lovely) is very mouldy inside. Never been cleaned. Bathroom is tiny but fine, got the clothes dryer and washing machine as said. Draws and cupboards do not close properly. There is no where saying where the rubbish for our bins go. The futon in the “lounge” has massive holes and rips in the back of it. The double bed, is just two singles pushed together and is very uncomfortable! The wardrobes have a funny smell coming from them. We could have sworn there was a dog in the building would only ever bark at night. There is rust forming under the sink next to the washing machine. And last but not least COCKROACHES! Oh my god. They’re everywhere guys! It’s pretty horrible. The place needs a bit of an upgrade and a bug bomb. Beautiful location! But would not stay again unless it was done up! And wasn’t lied to on the photos online.

For $200 a night you expect your room to be clean and free of bed bugs… we didn't care that it was old and run down but basic hygiene and bugs. Gross. Yep you heard right. Bed bugs. We didn't even last one night here. Our room was booked through another owner and I believe it is an independtly owned and managed apartment but sorry Beachcomber it is within your building and your name that gets tarnished. Not worth even one star. We left with two crying kids and a very memorable experience.

Old fashioned. Needs a refurb and taps need fixing… great location!

Currently been staying here for 4 nights and our room in gorgeous. Recently renovated and has everything we need. We will absolutely be bringing the family back with us next time. Perfect location and amazing views. Have met staff in the lift each day as we have been going in and out and they have been nothing but lovely to us. Highly recommend!

Was disgusting. Could not pay me to stay here again. Room was dirty staff where extremely rude and unhelpful. Had to pay $2 just to get a couple of clean towels! The location is nice but the pictures they have advertised is nothing like the rooms you get, the “King” size bed I asked for was two singles shoved together. Not to mention the lifts where broken so had to wait up to 15-20 minutes just to get on them, and then they kept opening on every floor. Do yourself a favour don’t stay here. Just shockingly bad.

Totally dilapidated and falsely advertised. Pictures on website totally misleading, carpet torn and mould in bathroom, decor hasn't been updated since the building was built, stove in the kitchen must of been picked up from the tip and furniture in desperate need of replacement, and not even a DVD player available. Pool area disgusting. Limited disabled access and staff unhelpful and rude. Worst 3 nights I've ever paid to stay anywhere, even asked if we could pay extra to upgrade but they said no other rooms available. Would have been better off sleeping in my car. Total disappointment and the place needs to be shut down for health and safety reasons. Post edited to say I wouldn't stay here for free.

The lack of light and ugly interior of the bathroom led to a genuine fear of being murdered/welcomed by ghosts in the shower. We played a very consistent game of 'who can find the biggest and most oddly positioned stain in the apartment'. We re-arranged at least half of our (old-food crusted) crockery into the end of the hallway to be ignored for the whole stay, and we soaked the other half for an entire day for fear of contracting some outrageous disease. Would not stay again, as I enjoy my sanity and personal hygiene. It is very close to the beach though, and there's a bottle shop across the road.

Amazing view of the beach & super close to the main attractions including cav av, the beach & the clubs. That's where all the good stops. We had disgusting cockroaches ranging from big to small, throughout our ENTIRE bathroom. Had to be wearing thongs no matter where you went in the hotel (including shower) and it looked like the floors had NEVER been cleaned. The few amenities we did have, we dirty, broken or didnt work. Even though the price was so cheap, I wouldn't recommend this to people purely due to the cleanliness (or lack of). The security were so horribly rude and lacked basic common kindness & continued to tell me how I was wrong or that I had 'signed' agreements that I never did. Told me I were to have no people in my apartment after FOUR PM, yet I actually agreed to it being after 6PM. The communication was atrocious and made my trip not as amazing and memorable as it should of been.

Location great! Everything else not so great… so unclean… I wished I had thongs to wear so I won't get some weird ass disease from the carpet and bathroom floor! YUCK YUCK YUCK streak marks — either piss or vomit on the outside of the loo… if I can see it? Shouldn't the cleaner? Thank God it's only 1 night, never again and can't wait to get home for a shower. Posted at 1.30am ish pissed and unfortunately still aware of my surroundings $170 for the night… refund please.

Booked 1 bedroom apartment which in more detail stated bedroom with balcony and ocean view. Upon arrival sent to bedroom with no view to ocean. Went to manager they started making excuses no we didn't book that. Thanks to expedia we got re located to better hotel. Think twice before booking with beachcomber surfers paradise.

The rudest staffs ever. Bad experience staying this hotel. We pay a good price but what we had to experienced, it was not good at all. We have to remove our rubbish ourselves. We have to go to the basement ourselves and fine the bin. How the hell do we know.! And it's redicurous that the repecption said if we did not do this they deduct the deposit money. SERIOUSLY, we don't live there we just stay day and pay for the service apartment or hotel price. Bad. Don't stay there. The worst place.

We stayed at beachcomber in September in room 1703 and it was beautiful, I was very hesitant with the reviews I had seen but we decided to just wing it and see what happened and I wasn't disappointed at all. The room was very well styled and clean with a beautiful view of the beach. The only thing I could think to recommend would be to put the TV on a swivel arm, it would make "down time" allot more comfortable being able to position it to wear you are sitting or laying and a second key would have been great too. But other then that I have no complaints :)

The reception staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Parking is free and secure and amenities although old were quite nice. The room was showing obvious signs of age and was a very poor standard. Furniture and fittings were old, dirty, worn and poorly maintained. The room in general was quite disgusting. The view from the 28th floor was great though. We also had issues through the night with very rowdy guests on our floor. Security was happy to help. Great service and good amenities let down by a very poor standard room which was quite disgusting and expensive.

Well… Great if you want a Bed and not much else. Great view… Now that I absolutely loved… 1 hotel staff member at reception was Fantastic the other younger girl needs to sit a class in customer service none of my staff are as rude as she was… Wow now she was rude. Security guard was nice enough… Spa pool been broken for months… Now here's the kicker. In order to get your bond back you must take all rubbish down to the basement… Rubbish was put in the bin provided but at our check out the rude girl rudely told us to go up and take all the rubbish down to the basement… We were in a Superior room which was almost as big as a shoe box. Will definitely avoid this place like the plague…

It is in the heart of Surfers paradise. It has got nice sea view from the most of the rooms. However it is an old building and some of the studios are too small.

I am horrified! After sending an email expressing my expectations (having a relaxing holiday) I arrived and my room was in between NOISY lifts, 3 of them. Yes, I can hear loud and clear the lifts noise from my room. And believe it sounds like a terror movie. I booked this hotel as suggestion of a good friend who said "the location is awesome but this hotel was very old 8 years ago". She was right! My large room has got a gorgeus view. But the furniture looks like Salvation Army donation. And, I wouldnt use the bath (see previous reviews).

Absolutely disgusting. Broken door, dirt and dust, plastic chairs, broken lights, no toilet paper, moldy bath, freezer unusable due to frost. Extremely disappointed. Location is good — but pictures on webpage don't represent the room we have. Backpackers would have been better.

The bathroom was absolutely disgusting, the floors were just as bad as the bathroom, the sheets on the bed made me and my partners skin itchy. The only nice things were the view and the receptionist. Definitely need an upgrade to the bathroom and kitchen area.

Just saw a cockroach running around in living room with our two young children, there is no daily cleaning, it's outdated and carpets need changing. Pay a bit more and you can get a lot more in the area. Only the views and distance to the beach was good.

Location great everything in walking distance. Apartment was self contained which was great but they seriously need to check on sleeping facilities eg bed mattress? Did not have restful sleeps very uncomfortable which didn't make for a good holiday.

Friendly and efficient staff in the prime location of Surfers Paradise. Walking distance to literally everything you could think of from a donut shop to nightclubs or even bowling Haha. No hesitation in recommending this resort to family and friends. Great place to say!

Great direct booking experience, the best customer service you could ask for! Always happy to help and go beyond to make sure the stays are pleasant. I'm so greatful for the lovely lady I spoke to and booked with. Would definitely recommend them to anyone.

We stayed their last year. Management was very helpful. Perfect for myself and hubby. We had a very relaxing stay their. We are planning to stay there again this year.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. For number 1; the hotel is not clean at all, there is hair, burn marks and also chipped walls all through out the apartment, and also the windscreen's look like they haven't been cleaned in more than 1 year. 2; the shower/ laundry combo is a no go, it is so small, and the shower has VERY VERY little light, you can not see what you are doing, not to mention the bath is not clean either. 3; the elevators are very tiny, they smell and not very comfortable to be in, considering we stayed on the 23rd story. 4; the blinds are also very dirty, they need replacing, I think the owners of this hotel should come and stay a night and see how they like it, and also the 'double bed' is two single beds (a bag of springs) put together! horrible!

Great service wonderful staff! The rooms need a good clean do not think the cleaners do much in the way of cleaning! Great position close to everything great views.

Great location right off cavil Ave. And a stones throw from the beach. The view from our room is lovely overlooking the beach and the pool. Staff are super friendly, the ladies at reception are some of the sweetest people I have ever met. The room itself isn't very fancy but it's quite functional.

I loved the views and the short walk to cafes, shops, beach and resturants. The room was clean, but the bed, while being still firm was old and stained, and the botom part was raggedy. I think it needs replacing. There was no phone in the room and the exhaust fan in the bathroom ran all the time. One of the bulbs needed replacing. I tried to get onto the internet in the foyer but could not, so much for free internet. Overall it was good budget accomodation, just needed a few things fixed.

I'm giving the resort 2 stars: one for the friendly receptionist and one for the terrific location and free secure car parking. Now here's a list of all the things I deducted the 3rd star for: 1. This may be an old resort but that's no excuse for the rooms/units not being smartly maintained and thoroughly cleaned. 2. The curtains and rugs appeared to have never been cleaned. Every net curtain in our one-bedroom apartment (Unit 12/10) was in tatters. 3. The free Wi-Fi listed on the website turned out to be available only in the foyer. This wasn't major, just a nuisance. 4. There was no phone in the unit. 5. The bed may have been KS but, like other reviewers have mentioned, it was two twins pushed together. As they weren't fixed together they came apart during the night — most annoying! The one blanket probably hadn't seen a clean for quite a while either. 6. The furniture needed some fixing. The veneer was falling off the coffee tables and some of the feet on the dining room chairs were missing, making them wobbly. 7. Housekeeping only cleans between clients, which is okay if the place is clean to start with. Toilet paper in the toilet bowl made me suspect that the toilet hadn't been cleaned after the last client moved out. 8. The kitchen window wouldn't close, so we had a permanent whistling of wind. 9. The bathroom cum laundry needed a good clean around all the edges and in all the corners. A quick sweep and a quick swish of the mop isn't enough.

Would not recommend this hotel to stay at, first room we had the bed was hard as and couldn't be slept on and got locked out of room for half hour cause card chip didn't work, they done a room change on our wedding day. Second room we had air con didn't work, dust on exhaust fan in bathroom, mould on roof, power point in bathroom didn't work, curtain was ripped so sun came shinning in at 6:30am, one chair to sit on the balcony with, one thin blanket for the bed. Asked for room to be vacuumed and never happened. Told manager on check out and he said I should've said something earlier so they could've changed rooms how many times do u have to change rooms when ur on holidays, the units should be kept up to a standard being a 3star resort. Will not being staying here again and I do not recommend anyone to stay at this resort.

Look, the room was actually perfect for me. Situated on the 30th of 31 stories, my view was out of control. It's just me, in a tiny 3-star studio, and that's all I needed. It wasn't fancy, but I wasn't looking for fancy and the break-taking views were well worth everything I paid in rent. For this reason and this reason only am I giving this sad excuse of a resort a second star. Moving on. I had the pleasure of renting through an outside company — NOT through the resort, thank goodness. I came on here today because their customer service just finally cracked me. If you do no rent through them, be prepared for them to be completely useless to you. And even if you do rent through them, be prepared to hear their favourite word, "No! " Believe me, I have spent a lot of time in that lobby, have overheard many different conversations and the only thing they know how to say is "no. " I was in a hurry, my printer wasn't working, and I needed to have a document printed for a meeting in 20 minutes. I explained the situation and kindly asked the lady at the front if she would be willing to print it for me and with a smile, it was "no, not if you don't rent through us. " "Yes, but I live in the building, " didn't matter. "On a human level, will you? " "No, sorry, " she said. A complete stranger ended up printing it for me. She could have been a hero, but I honestly think she gets a kick out of saying no to everyone.

What a great location, within walking distance of Friday night markets which was an added bonus. Love the friendliness and cleanliness of Beachcomber Resort. Wouldn't stay anywhere else. Room as clean spacious and have everything you need.

My partner and I decided to book 5nights at Beachcomber Resort, even after reading some bad reviews here. We found the staff very polite and helpful, the room we stayed in 1 bedroom Ocean View it was amazing. It was roomy and clean. I honestly cant fault it! Seems management would walks over hot coals to make your stay here pleasant. The rooms are owned by different people, so the furniture condition and replacement I guess would be upto the owner. So if you get a room that is run down, ask for another and tell them why. Maybe then the owner will have to do something about it? We will definitely be coming back. The only down fall we had here, was leaving. Wished we could of stayed longer! Stayed April 2012.

Possibly the worst experience I have had at a hotel before and I was only there for half an hour before ringing the rude receptionist! and requesting my money back. The pictures were nothing like the ones advertised on the site we booked through. Walked in the room smelt like smoke, shower had mould in it, the couch was as old as my dead grandmother and covered in hair and dust. I honestly contemplated going to the hospital for an STD check after sitting on the couch. After speaking to the manager he offered us a "better" room which was almost as bad as the one we were staying in for $170 a night! the Air Con was covered in rust, I asked for a beach view. Nope no beach view from our room. The neighbours were having a full blown domestic and to top it off when we left to hand the keys back to the staffless reception area. The manager was walking to the nice hotel across the road with his family. Im sure back packers get nicer hotels then this! If your looking for a new place to cook meth then this place would be PERFECT! Still waiting for a refund also.

Sitting in room with no water. Lady at Reception was very rude on phone. Even if this is some sort of emergency, have the decency to tell people by knocking on doors, or at least putting notes around the place. Lady acted like I was bugging her on the phone. Rude staff. The receptionist said it would be an hour. To me that is plenty of time to let people know what is going on, even if it is an unexpected emergency. In any case, don't act like we are inconveniencing you when you haven't even tried to let people know what is going on. This should be a warning to all future guests about the way this place treats people. i booked directly through the hotel not outside agency.

Regret not reading reviews before we booked. All reviews on here are true. The entire hotel smelt like smoke and ash tray. First room we got was terrible we asked for another room which was bareable. Still very dusty and carpets werent clean. Bed was 2 singles together very hard to sleep. Clock and air con remote didnt work. No fly screen so we couldnt have the door open for fresh air. Rust all through the bottom of the bath/shower and entire bathroom. Dust on the top of the ceiling fan was so thick we didnt use it. Apart from the location there isnt much else good about it. I hope we get our deposit back alot of people on here said they didnt.

I wish I could choose 0 stars. This place is the worst. The hotel stinks and we were made to sleep on a couch with hair and dust all over it. This would be the last place I would visit in the world. This place is a slum. All taps are leaking and the bathroom is full of fungi. It was impossible to go to sleep with those taps still running! We booked for a 4 ppl accommodation but when we went there was 3 beds and one filthy couch. It's everything just stuffed in one room. Don't make the mistake we made and book this hotel.

Great Views BUT! Room was disgusting the walls were very dirty. Payed $200 deposit through my credit card and was promised to have it back within 3 days. Day 6 and still waiting. Never will I stay there again. Don't waste your money people.

I have stayed in Beachcomber resort a few times in the past and I liked it. This time I found it a bit 'tired' and in need of a renovation. But this is not what I am not happy about. I am not happy about my security deposit of $200 being charged to my credit card and not released in 5 days as I was promised. It is now day 11 since it has been charged. I have made 2 telephone calls in this regard to the hotel, on first call they said to wait another day, on the second call 2 days later they promised to find out what is going on call me back but they didn't. It is VERY disappointing that I cannot get my $200 back and that I have to spend my time and effort for something that should have been done automatically. Advice: don't let your credit card to be charged for security deposit. Pay cash, at least you will get it back when you leave. Update: today is 07.10.14, my deposit still has not been released. People, do not let this hotel charge your credit card for security deposit.

Disgusting public areas! Booked directly with the hotel — not an outside agency. Gym was filthy — equipment had grime built up on it and the carpet was gross. I was on the treadmill about ten seconds then got off! Hallways throughout the hotel were also filthy. The same crumbs sat on the floor in the hallway outside our room the whole time we stayed there! Never saw one person vacuum or clean these areas during our stay. Hot tub has been broken for months according to a long term resident we met. Outside pool dirty — never saw a cleaning hose in it. Room was a decrepit pigsty! Management seems to like blaming the bad reviews on people booking through an outside agency and claims that it is because people are staying in privately managed rooms, BUT THAT DOESN'T EXPLAIN THE FILTHY GYM, GAMES AREA, HALLWAYS, POOL AND BROKEN FACILITIES. We booked directly through the hotel! They can probably afford to take hits on bad reviews during the year because they rip off schoolies and people staying for the V8 Supercars. Don't stay there — you'll end up with bugs in your hair or an asthma attack or a fungus from the pool. Gross.

Worst hotel ever. Once we had received our key we went up into the room. This place had not been dusted. Ever. My wife had instant asthma. There was leaking taps and rust and mould everywhere in the bathroom. I didn't want to touch anything in the apartment. There was a layer of dust on top of one of the power points that was 3/4 inch thick. We went and complained, and got given another key, which wouldn't open the door. Received another key and got the exact same as the first room, and the door wouldn't shut. Went to reception and told them we were going. Told we were going to be refunded, but have not. Ended up going next door to the International Hotel and received great service. The Manager couldn't have helped us out more. Reception had closed but he did his upmost to help us. Was apologetic because the room had been renovated and smelled of paint (which it didn't). Ended up cheaper, nicer, and better view.

I agree, do not waste your money. I arrived to a person complaining about the state of her room and checking out because it was so awful. My rooms (I changed rooms because the first was so bad) were both tired and in need of serious renovation. The washing machine in the bathroom was leaking and I discovered it was full of water! I couldn't ring down for room service and had no information folder in the room to assist me. So I'm checking out. The staff were pleasant enough.
