Everything is practical & convenient with super attention to detail.
The staff are so friendly & helpful. The breakfast is lovely. Having a simple restaurant & bar makes life easy when you come back dusty & tired after a long day.

Bushpig is a fantastic place to stay in busy kampala. Homey, fun, friendly, funky. The staff were all so helpful and kind. My single room with shared bathroom was very comfortable. The facilities — shower, toilets, kitchen — are clean and in excellent working order. There are lots of outdoor places to sit near reception where the Wi-Fi connections are best. The brightly colored cushions — and a relaxed hostel cat! — are comfortable and welcoming.
Love bushpig. And the price is excellent too.
(I am a 70 year old solo female traveler and I felt totally welcomed and at ease at bushpig. My experience is that there is no ageism in Africa. )

Very friendly staff, the hostel has different activities on certain days and is close to the nightlife.

YOBAC is a Lovely school, it has close to 800 pupils, the team is perfect, do not hesitate to visit and help.

I booked a “Single Bed in Dormitory” which actually was one bed in double bedroom with shared toilet and shower.
Everything was way higher than my expectations as a solo traveler who usually preferred hotels.
The breakfast was simple but enough.
The bar tender “Paula” is great. Don’t forget to test the pizzas and spend the Tuesday night in public area for Quiz night.
100% I will return…

Good location and service but full of whites, rarely see local people but everything is ok from rooms to service to location.

I’m really not a hostel person, but this place was awesome. Highly highly highly recommend. Love the staff and the mission and it’s really quite nice accommodations.

I love Bushpig, always stay there when I'm at Kampala. Great location, friendly staff, good service, nice atmosphere. Always an opportunity to meet nice people there. ❤️

I arrive at Bushpig at exactly 7:08pm.
Park my bike, get to the security, greet the guy and tell him am here to make a take away.
He responds by asking if am from Glovo, clearly am dressed in normal clothes with colors far away from yellow which is Glovo’s colors but because I came riding he assumed am a Glovo rider who has come to pick a takeaway, I politely say this is a personal order I want to make and take home smiling but at this point I already feel belittled.
Fast forward, get to the counter, I talk to a lovely lady with manners Atleast 😅, place my order, make my payment with Mobile Money and I have a seat with my timer as I wait for my order.
20 mins later, I receive my order make my way to the gate and I run into this impolite guard again he asks me for proof of payment for the pizza am carrying and at this point am really pissed because is this a supermarket that I have to present my receipt at the exit🤦🏾
At this point I really feel disrespected but I calmly say I paid this order with mobile money and here is the message, he proceeds to say he needs a bush pig receipt for me to exit the place 🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾
I head over to the lady that attended to me and ask for my receipt and hand it to him and that’s when he allows me to exit.
That was my humble experience.

The staff was very friendly and helped out great with all my questions as travelling Uganda can be challenging. The boda tour guide was super nice a little more transparency of your options when on the market etc. A taste means buying a massive amount of fried grashoppers or liters of banana juice that I don't need but happy he was happy with it 😂

Nonsense service. Dude made my food and came all the way from the kitchen to tell me to go pick my food from said kitchen. He could have come with it, but apparently management insists that we must suffer. Absolute worst service in the whole of Kampala. Would not recommend.

Nicest staff and probably the nicest place to stay a night in Kampala. Really appreciated the hospitality and enjoyed the delicious food. I would definetly visit that gem again if I get another chance to do so. Thanks for everything! Cheers!

This is a great hostel,
Everybody from the reception staff, the chefs and cleaners are all so friendly, it's spotlessly clean, comfortable and in a great location, they have a fun quiz night and many other activities on and the food is delicious and with quick service.
Note, had to laugh at the bad review someone left because they had to go up and collect their food, that must have been an hellish experience haha 😂 🙈.

The Bushpig is a great, low-key place to stay in Kampala! I appreciated having some place affordable to stay while also being very clean and safe! It has some great common areas to relax or get some work done. Staff are also very friendly and helpful. Only minor complaint is that the place does get a bit loud at night from the bar downstairs, so bring earplugs.
