We were made very comfortable at Mercure St Paul’s. Room was large and enough room for a family of 4.
Everything was clean on arrival and we had breakfast delivered to our room the next morning.
The breakfast was huge. We could order 1 of each on the menu for all 4 of us.
I also used the spa which was a relaxing hour while daddy had the kids.

Super friendly staff all round. As a world wide company, all our visitors stay here. 5

I would like to place a complain against a SANDEEP KAINDA Hotel Receptionist Duty Manager for personally be treated unfairly and unfavourably because I used to work for the Accor hotels nearly two years and four months ago.
Risking my life for not following the guidelines of social distance have no be placed at all the only staff member wearing a mask was the Spa receptionist Katherine.
Socially distancing, wearing cloth masks, was not placed and environmental interventions, He was not keeping two meters distant from me but trying to switch off the hairdryer when all asked was please two minutes because if got asthma and I cannot go outside with a wet hair.
I have got a severe asthma and may be at higher risk of getting very sick from COVID-19. COVID-19 can affect my nose, throat, lungs (respiratory tract) ; cause an asthma attack; and possibly lead to pneumonia and acute respiratory disease.
Note: A young lady who was in the changing room with me was still in her underwear. When he recognised. IT
Mr Sandeep Kainda totally ignored her presence, going for me while I was ready to go, I was putting my hair up as a ponytail when he started asking me for my membership card, to show him straightaway. Joe gym staff who was covering the spa that day night witness everything, in fact Joe asked for “ help “not for me but for this young lady who was drunk or something.
Mr Sandeep started threatening asking for my details and he would report me!

Thank you so much for the hotel, especially Amelia on reception and Phil the spa manager for making my birthday weekend incredible!
My party was so well looked after, the suite was fabulous, thank you for the birthday balloons at dinner and the wonderful gifts for us all in the spa.

the rooms are so clean.
the rooms had fridge, tea coffee and hair dryer. I didnt need to pack mine.
Had a 3 course meal it was lush and so filling.
the pool was so relaxing.
the staff had a smile an so helpful and friendly definitely stay again xx.

Very comfortable room overlooking the Wintergarden. Breakfast was collect and go but still enjoyable. Enjoyed the pool.

Due to the recent cancellation of the hotel room and spa, I attempted to get a refund as it was out of my hand, although I booked through a third party Mecure was very unhelpful on the phone and did not reassure at all. They were abrupt and my money looks as though it will not be refunded, I think improvements between the hotel and third party booking teams in terms of communication are required, I'm disgusted.

Fantastic venue for all occasions, I had an amazing day for my birthday celebration. The service, food, team friendliness and so helpful nothing was too much trouble, all my guests commented on the delicious tapas. Highly recommended. THANKYOU Team Mercure x.

We always stay at Mercure St Paul’s when we are up in Sheffield. The position is great — in a pedestrianised are overlooking the Winter Gardens and the park & fountains in front of the Town Hall. Great rooms, helpful staff & both good food and wines. Try it, I think you’ll like it!

Me and my husband celebrated our wedding here at Mecure. I cannot fault one bit of the whole 20 months of planning. Every bit exceeded our expectations and our experience was more than perfect. We were kept in the loop regarding everything and were treat like king and queen. Feedback from all of our guests were also very positive. I would like to make a special mention to our chef who cooked our wedding breakfast as it was absolutely beautiful!

Had a spa day with my fella. Beauty therapists were so friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our massage and facial treatments. Spa area is lovely too. Very relaxing. Would definite recommend.

We have stayed here 3 years running and enjoyed every stay. Great treatments spacias rooms fantastic breakfast and close to shops bars ect. We stayed this wk end and Owen in the restaurant made our stay this guy is so friendly funny and hardworking. Theres also a girl called chloe in the restaurant who for a young girl is so mature hardworking with a great sense and nothing was to much trouble both a credit to St Paul's hope to see you both again on our next visit xx.

Wonderful day with my daughter. Excellent treatments with fabulous decleor products. Fantastic facilities. Spa staff very welcoming. Lunch in restaurant was very nice however it was a little disorganised leading to wrong order.

Beautiful hotel with amazing views over the Winter Garden of Sheffield. Excellent location and very convenient for Sheffield city centre. The staff are very polite, friendly and helpful and the breakfast was delicious. Perfect for a weekend stay. We loved every minute. Very clean, comfortable and spacious. Highly recommended.

Very nice place to stay, central to all shops and places of eat. Food in hotel good value for money and very nicely served. Room very spacious and clean. Staff always willing to go an extra mile to help. Spa facilities excellent. Would stay again if in Sheffield.

Very convenient location for all of the city centre. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. A great breakfast too. The desk staff are lovely but on busy weekends and whatnot they should consider having more desk staff on hand to keep up with the workload.

My stay last night. The good; Very good location, lovely atrium and pleasant staff. The bad; The mercure is let down by its lack of facilities on site. Example; no direct parking at the hotel. No jacuzzi, the gym carpets are absolutely filthy and the gym lacks basic equipment like some other reviewers have noted. The pool area is in bad need of refurbishment to bring it back to spec + jacuzzi. Ideal hotel for business trips, this isn’t a couples romantic getaway hotel. The bar does serve Starbucks which is fantastic, I’m drinking as I type this up.

Quite good. The hotel outside look very beautiful and new. The restaurant Is very nice and there is a Starbucks inside the building. The personal is very mindful and educated. The rooms are not very good but the rest is good.

Excellent location, great prices, the lobby and bar area are very impressive, staff are friendly and professional and the room was much better than expected considering the price. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this hotel to anybody.

Visited the hotel spa. Really enjoyed our time here, lovely staff and the treatments were excellent. The pool was very pleasant and warm, the thermal suite was great too. Will definitely return.

A lovely venue in a nice spot in the centre of Sheffield, adjacent to the pretty Winter gardens. A high end establishment serving drinks and holding dinners. The food was very good indeed and the service quick and efficient.

Only used the bar and function room. Excellent decor and very clean & tidy. Mostly friendly staff. Most expensive hotel bar I've ever used but it does generally have a good atmosphere which is rare in hotel bars.

I didn't stay in the hotel but I've been to a 3 day conference there. The hall was nice, chairs okay, sound system and lights were fine. Lunch on first day was nice since with good choices of meat, fish, vegetables, rice etc. We had that in the restaurant. The following day however it was appaling. The hotel brought us sandwiches and spicy chicken wings. Really! 3 stars at best.

We had spa experience pass for two with back massage. It was ok but could have been better. The spa reception staff were pleasant but seemed inexperienced. They didnt give us any info about other treatments available even though we asked for a price list. Said nothing about what to do in event of fire alarm (this building is like a rabbit warren), and gave us no info about any drinks or food we could buy. They gave us a locker outside the gym to put our coats and bags in then told us to sit in a relaxation room fully clothed and wait not even offered a drink. We were then taken down to the spa suite and took into massage room and told to strip off in corner. The massage itself was lovely. We then went down to the swimming pool where the showers and other lockers were… Oh but hang on, if we went in the pool we would then have to go up two floors to the gym locker we were given dripping wet to fetch our belongings to use the shower and get dressed… ridiculous. I then went to look for a member of staff to get a locker key down near the pool but there was no one to be found in the spa suite and I felt it inappropriate to go up to the main reception in my costume being in full view of the public. Luckily a kind lady who had just come out of the pool saw us wondering what to do and pointed out someone had left a key in one of the pool lockers. By the time we had transferred our belongings the relaxed feeling we had felt from the massage had gone.

Thank you from the Robinson’s! We Had to change our wedding last year to a different venue and was blown away by the Mercure. Laura and her team did everything they could to make us feel at ease and went the extra mile to make our day special. It was the best day ever and ran so smoothly! 100% recommend this place for your wedding!

Very nice place to stay if you're visiting the centre of Sheffield rooms are decent priced for city centre and there are lots of things to do and see around the hotel. Parking is a little bit expensive at £12.50 per day but I can only expect that from the city centre. Only stayed the one night but thought it was a very comfortable room comfortable beds well laid out and overall very good. Would certainly recommend a stay.

I always stay at the Mercure when I visit Sheffield. The accommodations and staff are top notch. Awesome fitness center, free fast wireless, and good full breakfast are available.

I've stayed here many times and got married here! Great hotel and location. A bit of luxury for a well deserved treat. Best hotel in town.

Very professional and welcoming staff. Small flat. No parking in the hotel. But there is underground parking nearby.

Great food. Great bar staff, great margaritas Andrew and Owan were very accommodating and friendly. Clean, friendly hotel with great staff who seem to want to give good customer service. Spa is also good for a hotel.

A friend and I were due to meet up recently and I wanted to avoid all the pre-Christmas crowds and meet somewhere a bit quieter. My husband suggested the hotel bar might fit the bill and so we gave it a go. It was lovely sitting in comfy chairs looking into the Winter Gardens at all the decorations and lights. The bar itself was quite busy but there are lots of different seating areas so you can find space away from the chatter if you wish. The service was excellent and they went out of their way to find a gluten-free solution for me when we decided to have an impromptu snack. It was a bit pricey but hotel bars usually are. I'd go again though, no doubt.

Great venue and fab staff who all know their job very well. This Hotel is very well run and a great place to stay. It is very Central and has a great feeling. Just stayed for two nights with my family. Have stayed before and never been disappointed. I commented to one staff member about how well run the place is, they said we try to treat our visitors how we would want our own family treated. You know, they do. Fab!

We’ve just spent 2 nights at your hotel and were really disappointed, for 2 reasons. Firstly, at check-in we were told we would be given a free upgrade which seemed a nice touch, we stood there whilst the check-in process was completed, and we were given our key cards. We were about to walk off when we were stopped and told they had made a mistake, and couldn’t upgrade us after all. We were asked to give our keys back and had to wait another 10 minutes whilst we were ‘downgraded’. Of course we hadn’t in the first place expected any upgrade, but to be given one then have it taken away again was not really the best way to welcome us. Not to mention having to stand around for a fair while whilst this was sorted out. Secondly and more of an issue, was the room temperature. We didn’t spend much time in the room on checking in, we dropped off our things then went straight out. So it was only when we got back that evening to go to bed that we found how very hot it was. We spent ages fiddling with the air conditioning but couldn’t get it to work, and we both had a very uncomfortable night with little sleep as it was just so unbearably hot. First thing in the morning we mentioned this to reception, they told us that as it was cold outside, the air conditioning was switched off! That makes no sense, in a large building with lots of people in, of course the rooms still get hot, regardless of the outside temperature.

I attended for a wedding. The room was spacious with two bathrooms, ideal for all of us to get dressed up before the event. The views of Sheffield were spectacular as the room stretched between two points and offered large windows on either side. We attended the bar later on, which had windows looking into the Winter gardens. It was busy, but the service was fast. Everyone had a great time.

Our stay was perfect. The rooms were lovely, clean and large, also dark with the curtains drawn! The location of the hotel is ideal, a short walk from be train station, and the same into the main town. The spa was lovely, although more loungers around the pool would make it better. Our treatments were well organised, and the complimentary hand massage was a nice bonus. The included evening meal and breakfast were tasty and the staff were accommodating for our individual needs.

We choose the hotel for its location and the gym / pool. And made use of gym and pool. It was just a short visit. We didn't have much time to sort things out, but some thoughts: The pool was overloaded with chemicals, so I had to get out. The skin on my finger tips peeled over night. The bedroom pillows were like rubber bricks. It's just personal taste, but I like to be able to swap rubber pillows for softer pillows. We found out too late at night and too tied to hunt any further than the in the bedroom cupboards. If I'd had more energy, I might have thought to ask the hotel service to swap them. There were no non caffine/ non-tea drinks in the room. On previous visits we had decent coffee and a selection of fruit tea in the room. Our order for newspapers was not recorded. The gym was welcome as was the steam room. And the concierge was very helpful with restaurant suggestions. The hotel is in a great location and the staff are very friendly.

Arrived on Friday night for a wedding the following day. Was shown to our room which had a dual aspect. Therefore, we had a lovely view of Sheffield City Centre. Had a couple of bar meals and drinks, the bar staff were amazing. The following day the wedding reception was held downstairs, a truly lovely venue with amazing food. We danced the night away on the lovely disco floor. Breakfast the next morning was fabulous — Eggs Benedict. They catered extremely well for a large crowd and made all of us feel special. The staff were very alert and on-the-ball.

Helpful and polite staff, great room and comfortable beds. Loved the rain shower. Ability to go sauna/swim was a great addition to help cure the hangover. Expensive sounding breakfast so we are out (Gregg's over the road) highly recommend if you're after a city stay.

Checked in and out requested Twin room was a double. This was easily sorted and we were given a twin… the Twin room was dirty. Sticky and Soap scum all over the bath, the toilet seat had poo on it, and several pubic hairs in the bathroom. We brought this to the attention of the reception team, who swiftly sent a cleaner. Unfortunately the cleaner thought it acceptable to use a bath towel and water only to "clean" the mess. Obviously, again I brought this to the attention of the reception team who sorted another room move. We booked the Mercure St Paul's filling a recommendation that the aroma spa room was amazing… unfortunately, we went to the spa and this room was "out of order" : (. The following day we checked out a little late, due to a health issue this couldn't be avoided. By 12:10 the phone rang hurrying us out of the room… again at 12:20 and then again at 12:30! It felt pressured and uncomfortable with the threat that if we stay longer then it would be chargeable! I explained I'd unfortunately experienced a fit shortly before and was then advised 1pm latest… I thought given my already very poor experience in the £90 a night room that a little leeway might be extended. Overall just not what I expect from a premium Hotel. On a positive note, the reception staff were all very good and receptive to my problems, especially on the check in day.

Very nice, large room. Huge comfortable bed. Lovely, fresh self service breakfast. Spa facilities and massage were excellent. Evening meal choice was a bit limited and some parts of the meal could have been better. The food was generally quite tasty though.

We had a nice evening, the service and menu wasn't as good as this time last year. Being asked to pass starter plates around to each other from the waiter wasn't what we had planned, the prawn cocktail was poor. Everyone got the wrong meal and wrong sauces so again passing plates around and then one guest left waiting for their meal. Pudding was nice and thankfully didn't have the rocket salad that every other plate of food brought to the table was served with… bit of a miss from me this time Mecure …

Beautiful hotel with great staff! Lovely location in the centre of Sheffield. Parking with a discount at a nearby NPC car park with hotel discount £8.50 for 24hr. Great gym and spa with different saunas and decent sized swimming pool. Breakfast is great and they even have vegan sausages! 10/10 would recommend.

This is our second stay at the Mercure in Sheffield. We have been delighted both times: the location, facilities and staff are all excellent. Our room was not ready when we checked in, so we were treated to a drink in the bar and porterage to the room once prepared. The swimming pool, gym and spa, which we came in part to use, are clean and well-equipped. The proximity to the excellent nightlife of Sheffield is what also draws us back. The rooms themselves are faultless. The staff were highly professional and attentive. We hope to return on another occasion.

From start in finish extremely impressed. Staff where very helpful, we wanted to change our room and then we needed to extent our stay. They couldn't have done more for us they were absolute brilliant. The bar staff were very attentive, breakfast was the best I've had in a long time. Spa staff were very professional. Generally an excellent stay.

We took the room, dinner, spa with treatment and breakfast stay option. I was able to access all 5 of the rooms I'd booked before 2pm, meaning I could set them up with gifts for the party and get down to the spa before our treatments, which was also booked for 2pm. The spa was lovely, albeit full of other noisy guests. The meal was great and the duty manager quickly rectified our missing table decorations. The waitress (I can't remember her name! ) was funny and attentive. Breakfast was delicious and checking out was quick and easy. I would definitely consider staying again and I live in Sheffield!

Our stay was pleasant the hotel was well presented, the staff friendly and the location was perfect. There was a pop up gym in the peace gardens which was right under our window, we weren't told about this upon check in, the music cheering and shouting over the mic started very early and went on all day. The spa was full of groups/hens and not relaxing due to the noise and lack of beds but had it of been quieter it would have been lovely. There was mould starting to appear on the ceiling outside the shower and on the door hinges, but apart from that the room was clean. The bed was soft and felt old, in need of replacement. Location was great for us and the surrounding restaurants were all fab.

Excellent hotel in the heart of Sheffield. Located yards from a wealth of bars and restaurants. Has a spa and swimming pool and lovely lounge area.

Friendly, professional staff, well stocked (free) mini bar and Nespresso machine. Drinks at the bar weren't too expensive as was the room service. The room was clean and nicely presented with a nice view of the winter gardens. Spacious bathroom with separate shower which was very welcome. Only downside was the Wi-Fi which like all hotels rendered our Chromecast useless.

Great location in city centre, rooms were wonderful. We upgraded on arrival and service was spot on. Spa and pool were brilliant too. Staff very helpful and breakfast was fantastic. Absolutely no problems here!

I booked a spa day for 2 people at St Paul's. Communication with the hotel / spa could have been better — starting with we were told the hotel had parking — arrived to be told it was valet parking for overnight guests at £25! We never recieved conformation of our booking and on the day was told the package we booked didn't exist and they had never offered what we booked (this was in relation to the spa lunch and drinks). The spa was great. Very clean — staff were fabulous. The treatments were perfect (back massage, facial, scalp massage and a manicure) it was heavenly!. A little disappointed that one of the spa rooms was broken, but all in all a super relaxing day. We would definitely return.

Great hotel very comfy beds we stayed overnight after going to a show at the arena. Fantastic location very close to restaurants and bars and also the tram stops to get to the arena. The breakfast was brilliant a wide selection of continental items as well as a full English breakfast. Would recommend!

Went to Mercure St Paul's hotel for a spa day with my friends. I really enjoyed the day, the time relaxing in the large swimming pool, steam room and sauna, and also the massage. The staff were very polite and welcoming, and overall I really enjoyed the experience and catching up with my friends in a relaxed environment.

We stayed in a privalage room which was lovely. Very spacious and comfortable. I didn't use the spa unfortunately. The late night menu for room service is a bit limited but their bar manager was lovely. Its location is perfect right in the middle of town and near to car parks as they don't have their own. Really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed in a Priviledge room on the top floor. It was clean and spacious. The breakfast was very good and the head barman was both charming and friendly.

It was a magical night that I'll remember for the rest of my life. The bed was amazing, the view made my day.

Very convenient location for both the railway station and the University of Sheffield (would also be good for Hallam). Good choice of restaurants nearby too. Well presented public areas and the room was very nice — generous size, fantastic bed and excellent shower. No real negatives except a slightly small continental offering at breakfast!

Good rooms, particularly if you can get a corner room. Grand lobby area and connected to the Winter Gardens. Second only to Leopold Square.

Classy venue for society summer balls, very roomy. However the PA system at the venue is a little quiet for the size of the room. The ballroom is in the basement, but feels open and airy.

I had a meeting here recently and really liked the look and feel of the building. The staff I saw were polite and friendly and I got a good feeling from the place. I saw my colleague's room (a corner suite) and it was a very comfortable room with amazing views of the city. When my wife visited the spa layer that week she had a very lack lustre experience. For the price she paid and the location she was rightly expecting a lot more for her money but was sadly disappointed.

My husband and I visited the hotel for one night this weekend (this was my 5th visit) I have always enjoyed my stay and expected this visit would be equally enjoyable This time it was more important that everything went well and it was completely spoiled by our experience in the restaurant which meant we did not have an evening meal and left the following morning without taking breakfast (our choice) as we just wanted to get away. I do not want to go into too much detail except to say in the interest of fairness the following. The manager in the restaurant Ben (cannot remember his surname) was responsible for compounding the situation by his poor handling of the matter and his attitude towards us (he appeared to look down on us physically and metaphorically) and walked away whilst we were talking to him! However I want to give accolades to Sarah on reception who showed empathy, sympathy and a genuine desire to" put things right"Also to Sandeep the duty manager who the next day similarly showed us care and consideration after hearing our situation and gave us his time and compensated us accordingly. I hope it won't deter us from visiting the hotel in the future as we have family in the area and it is convenient to stay there, Importantly we still think it is a lovely hotel with some admirable staff and great facilities.

Well, to start things off, I'm currently a student in Sheffield. It's a lovely place to be in and it's my first time here. I really enjoyed it. My parents and I stayed in the Mercure for nearly a week, and it was an amazing stay. The best thing about it is it's fantastic location, you cannot get better than this, seriously. Just beside the Peace Garden AND direct access to the one-of-the-kind Winter Garden, which is an absolute bonus to nature-lovers like me. Simply fantastic, the rooms are quite nice, food at the Champagne Bar is brilliant and the staffs are very friendly and efficient, which is great! The spa and massage services are sometimes a bit packed, but with the right appointment, you are guaranteed to enjoy after a tough and hectic day. Highly-recommended. It's definitely better than the Hilton, which in my opinion, a bit far from the City Centre and kinda inconvenient. Mercure is the definitely the go-to hotel to stay in in this wonderful city. Thumbs Up.

My daughter's bridesmaids booked a spa day and afternoon tea. The Spar section of the day was fine. The afternoon tea was a disaster. The waiting staff were atrocious, it took more than an hour for them to serve food. The table was incorrectly laid. The staff had known we were coming as they were informed at 10am. We did have dietary issues, 1 nut free, 1 gluten free and 1 vegetarian. We had to ask for a teapot to be left at the table so we could help ourselves, we had to ask for teaspoons. It was a shambles and definitely not recommended.

A really fantastic modern hotel with great facilities in a great location in the centre of Sheffield. We particularly liked the glass-roofed restaurant and that the hotel is linked to the amazing Winter Gardens. We also liked the fact that there was a lift directly from the guest floors into the pool and spa area — only 2 minutes from bedroom to swimming pool! Overall, great food and helpful staff — an excellent hotel.
