Review of Mercure Sheffield St Paul's Hotel & Spa 4*

We had spa experience pass for two with back massage. It was ok but could have been better. The spa reception staff were pleasant but seemed inexperienced. They didnt give us any info about other treatments available even though we asked for a price list. Said nothing about what to do in event of fire alarm (this building is like a rabbit warren), and gave us no info about any drinks or food we could buy. They gave us a locker outside the gym to put our coats and bags in then told us to sit in a relaxation room fully clothed and wait not even offered a drink. We were then taken down to the spa suite and took into massage room and told to strip off in corner. The massage itself was lovely. We then went down to the swimming pool where the showers and other lockers were… Oh but hang on, if we went in the pool we would then have to go up two floors to the gym locker we were given dripping wet to fetch our belongings to use the shower and get dressed… ridiculous. I then went to look for a member of staff to get a locker key down near the pool but there was no one to be found in the spa suite and I felt it inappropriate to go up to the main reception in my costume being in full view of the public. Luckily a kind lady who had just come out of the pool saw us wondering what to do and pointed out someone had left a key in one of the pool lockers. By the time we had transferred our belongings the relaxed feeling we had felt from the massage had gone. Not even a cuppa offered and there is no jacuzzi either! Not the worse experience but I had expected better.
