The staff are all exceptional, nothing is to much trouble always a smile and a friendly word, room was very clean and comfortable the food was so tasty

This is a wonderful hotel. Nothing is too much trouble the staff are absolutely wonderful. In the times we're going through they're making our holiday wonderful.

So far it’s been ok very clean very quiet staff helpful same room as last year.

Love the hotel, only down side is the room was too small.

Nice and lovely polite staff plus you have a good old key to get into the room none of these electronics keys that never work properly you know where you are with a key great location aswell.

Very clean good location just a bit dated but other than that couldn't fault it at all and lovely helpful staff.

A big thank to Craig and the team at the Afton! Our meal and awards presentation was a great success. The arrangements were easy and the food was great. Hi I am here for a Monday to Friday coach holiday and I am very disappointed to say the least. I have a faulty shower head an old chest of drawers that has been badly. Painted. There is a wall light where the fitting is rusty! There is no light working above the athroom sink, and I'm sure my room used to be a broom cupboard! I occupy a single room that would not have room for a other bed yet I am. Paying a single supplement! We are limited to 2 towels per day and I have had to beg to get the shower head replaced and three days into my break it is still not functional. Restaurant service is abysmal, poor quality food, and general chaos. There is also nowhere near enough staff to cope with the coach parties here this week. A most disappointing experience and would not recommend…

Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms ate clean and tidy. Good buffet style English breakfast. Entertainment most nights and a good bar. Close to the front and the pier.

This review is long overdue but I promised a five star review and here it is. Thank you to the Afton Hotel staff for an excellent service even though I caused a hell of an inconvenience back in July! Manager was very lenient and handled the situation professionally. If I need a place to stay again in Eastbourne, I'm heading straight back here to cause more trouble haha.

Great quality room (double with balcony). Bathroom is nice, modern and clean and the shower works well. Wardrobe could be better but still good. Bed is very comfy and clean, With good pillows and dovet.

Didn't book a hotel and just walk into the Aftan and ask for a room…
Paid for a single room and got a twin sea view room…
Good staff… let me left my bag for safe storage when I checked out to explore more of the town and surrounding… Will recommend anytime for the service I received.

Comfortable welcoming hotel in nice central position opposite the pier. Staff were very nice. Beds clean and comfortable and lots of hot water available.

For what was charged there are no complaints whatsoever, lovely and very helpful staff, very clean en suite rooms, great comfortable lounge and bar and facing the pier! … fantastic value and thanks to all at the Afton …

Many problems with this shocking excuse for a hotel. First of all the rooms are absolutely appalling, I wouldn't wish it on the worst of people, it was dirty, moldy, and simply inadequate. I asked for a sea-view room and was given one overlooking a disgusting run down alleyway. The food was absolutely disgraceful, it was rotting, it was served cold and the beef I had chosen to eat was stuck to the plate as if it had been frozen for a week! The staff were useless and were very irresponsible and I overheard them talking about me as I have made a life decision of identifying as non-binary. In addition to this upon reading some prior reviews, some of the staff members leave positive ratings to give the hotel a higher rating. If there were an option to chose 0 stars I'd use it!

Lovely place to relax. The pub does not do food only down fall. It is for older people.

No vegetarian option offered for evening meal. They thought a handful of salad leaves out of a bag was salad! They had no idea what a salad should be. There was very little thought or imagination put into the menu at all. There was no outside seating area, so could not sit outside for a glass of wine or a cup of tea. There was no telephone in our room and no bath mats or bath mats in the shower which was not non slip. The bedroom itself was clean though. However, on the whole I would not recommend.

Hotel was just as it said on website great value for money. We booked a double room but was given a twin. When we reported to reception they did give us a key to double room but it was far too small for us so we stays in the twin room which was bigger and more lighter. Breakfast was 7.50 each and was ok. Fully cooked buffet style english. With cereals juices coffee and toast. We booked through booking dot com and was told they do not do breakfast. Was also unaware that when booking in we was asked for photo i. D. And a deposit which was not taken off of our card. Hotel staff were very helpful and overall stay was good. Even entertainment was ok.

We had a pleasant stay at Afton Hotel. It's quite basic but very comfortable and the staff were friendly. We didn't try the breakfast, so not sure about that. The location is perfect in this beautiful beach side town. Right opposite the Pier and close to the shops in town, walk to beachy head.

Detestable. Unfortunately, this hotel serves as a holiday room for local families. To avoid so if you just want quiet nights.

Attended a Masonic evening here this weekend. The meal was very good value, well cooked and served. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. The DJ was betty good and kept the dance floor busy. My only point would be, please put the air conditioning on next time, that basement room gets really hot! Didn't stay overnight as we live locally.

Read TripAdvisor after booking then thought OMG what have I done, but it wasn't that bad. Yes the rooms could do with an update but were clean. Staff were ok. Great location. Checked in early without a problem & paid a £1.00 for a parking permit so happy days.

The hotel is located right across the street from Eastbourne's pier. Perfect location, close to town center and the beach. It is clean, with a very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are tiny, as you would expect from most British hotels. Wi-Fi is not available in rooms, only in lobby.

We were satisfied. Hotel is clean (also room and bathroom), staff were very polite. All services were ok, food was excellent. Recommended.

We were accomodaten in 4 family members. Hotel is very cozy. We were in family room, which was clean and capacious. Bathroom was clean too, food in the restaurant was delicious. We often went to a bar, which is in very pleasant environment. Staff were friendly and helpfull. We have very pleasant stay in Afton.

We enjoyed stay in this hotel with great location and very competitive prices for accommodation in clean rooms, recommended!

I wish there was an option to rate this HORRIBLE hotel lower than 1 star, when attempting to park at the hotel after being informed on the phone there was parking for the small price of £1 for the night. There was a long walk before I could find any kind of parking, I asked at reception about my room and there was all kind of confusion I was given a smaller room than asked. I walked into my room to find mould in the ‘new refurb room’ and it was very cold, there was no curtains and the bed was very uncomfortable, I would 100% avoid this hotel no matter how cheap it may seem it is very deceiving. ❌❗️

Just come back after spending Christmas at the Afton Hotel, it was a lovely break, the food, service and accommodation were excellent, hope to visit again.

Terrible food. Very cold. No heating in bar and restaurant… several of us had bad tummy's. Mt husband had to go to the room and get my coat for me to eat my dinner at night as it was freezing in the restaurant… would never go there again.

Staying here at the mo, in a group. The food is fantastic, staff are nice, entertaiment is basic. Great location, disabled access is poor though!

We went last Friday and Saturday. On the Saturday night they had a wedding reception I went to bed at 11 and could hear the music very loudly I was on the first floor and the reception was in the basement I put the television on to defer the noise but could not hear it. It went on just as loud till gone 1.15 a. M. I feel we should have been informed about this and I would have booked somewhere else.

Great place to be right nere the sea and pier. Friendly staff and a friendly welcome. Very modern to what I sore.

My husband and me spent the weekend in Afton Hotel, Eastbourne. It was a lovely experience. We had the room overlooking the sea, on request and it was indeed beautiful. It was such a lovely and lively atmosphere in the evening with music, lights and guests in the reception. Luke, was an excellent host, so eager to help and cheerful! The whole crew in Eastbourne were an exemplary set. The only small setback would have been the conditions of the toilets as they were refurnished very well. We would definitely recommend and already planning our next one! Kudos to Afton Hotel.

Enjoyed our stay manager could not of been more helpful and kind. Smal snag behind the unit had alot of dust, however that said great place highly recommended opposite the pier and friendly people.

I had a lovely time at this hotel, would have liked a better view from my window, but never mind, that can't be helped, it is nice and central, walking distance to the town centre, right opposite the pier, just about 5 mins walk to the hippodrome theatre, where I saw 2 fab shows, the staff and management at the Afton were brilliant and nothing too much trouble, food was good and lots of it, I would definitely return x.

Super location — just by the pier and we were also lucky to get a parking space just outside. You can collect a parking permit from the hotel reception. Alternatively there is a NCP carpark just down the road. The staff were all very friendly and professional. Our room was fine — nice and clean with all the basics as expected with a 2 star hotel. We had a family room with came with bunkbeds for the children.

Great place and great location. It's very close to the pier and corner shops or restaurant and pubs. Room was clean and big providing enough space for 2 of us. The only negative is the Internet which wasn't available in the room. The password was provided but not the network.

We have spent a lovely time in Eastbourne staying at the Afton Hotel, myself and my husband would definitely recommend this hotel. Our room was very nice and we had a lovely view of the sea from the room. The food was nice and the staff where very helpful and friendly. Dated June 1916

Brilliant venue for a function. We used one of two function rooms which can be varied in size according to the space needed. Fantastic staff too. Everyone provided a faultless service and made us feel welcome. Special thanks to Fiona and Jason in particular.

Great place to stay in Eastbourne. We had a lovely view of the sea and the pier from our room. Would recommend.
