Not the most modern or 'designer' or Ritzy or sophisticated which is EXACTLY why you would want to stay here. Great food, a top pub with a real fire, right in the best spot in town, next to the River Tay. In "The Fall" as our USA chums call it, it's awesome, picture postcard stuff. On a nice Summer's day, Scotland's the best in the World, so a walk along the River is bound to be great. If it's wet (it sometimes is) this place is a great place to enjoy the great grub Scotland's getting a name for. This place is old, in a good way. Oh, the Whisky's good. As you might imagine.

I used to really like this place for it being dog friendly and having a nice vegan menu. But today I went and found the prices have sky rocketed — I got charged £3.50 for a tiny dollop of vegan cheese on my burger — extortionate! Not impressed and sad to say I probably won’t be back.

I stayed in this gorgeous hotel recently and was more impressed than many others I've stayed. Reasons being because of the welcoming nature of owners and staff; Food delicious; classy rooms full of style and care, making ones stay very special indeed. The surroundings adding to the comfort.

Great food. Sat out by the river — fantastic view. Could order from the river terrace. Food came in good time and the almond fettucine was delicious! Small portion but very tasty. Waitress in terrace bar was suffering from the cold like us but by the end she had a warm smile on! Look forward to return visit.

The hotel has amazing views of the River Tay — Outdoor Bars is so relaxing, during our stay there we had been siting outside in the sunshine for long hours. Car parking just opposite the hotel by the river, which is reserved for guests. Location is in the centre of the town, with all shops within a short walking distance. Dunkeld is a beautiful Perthshire village, and this historic hotel is well worth a visit.

Great dunkeld hotel. The car park is directly opposite the hotel next to the bridge. Might have to turn to come into it and parking is tight. Rooms clean and spacious. Otherwise staff are very helpful and place is pretty easy to find.

Standard double room shabby. Only one hand towel in the bathroom no bath towels. Dinner in the bistro not great. Service slow. Food very salty. Didn't get what was ordered. Breakfast on Sunday was a shambles but Mondays breakfast was an improvement. Won't stay here again.

Clean, good food and extremely helpful, friendly staff. The hotel could be doing with a make over but don't let that put you off. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Lovely warm welcome. Lovely view over the river. Clean smart room. My dog was welcome too and we were able to sit in the lounge and have breakfast with her so we didn't have to leave her in the room.

Great vegetarian & vegan food. Nice outdoor area by the river. Dogs welcome inside.

A lovely hotel to visit. We dined here at lunchtime. Great selection of food, including a good Vegan choice. Also a dog friendly place. The dining area is spacious and modern. Lovely staff as well. Well worth a visit.

Excellent food with great service. A wonderful menu and a classic but modern restaurant.

We only went in the public bar for a drink, as we have in the past without problems, but on this occasion (Boxing Day) it felt like we weren't really wanted because we weren't having food. Only one of the handpumps in service, so no choice of real ale. The nicest seating area, with a blazing stove, was reserved for diners, so we had to sit on worn upholstery in the chilly reception area. And to top it off they got our order wrong. Will take my custom to the Taybank next time.

The hotel is a warm and welcoming place that is also dog friendly.

Visited the bar and had a meal with friends. It was ok, good choice of beers. Food a bit tired.

Very average food at above average prices. My son had a pizza that was like rubber — how do you get a pizza wrong?

The night manager was wonderful, dealing with our lack of hot water immediately. The floors slope, but that's to be expected for its age. Seems well cared for. Our budget room was decent enough for an overnight stay. Good breakfast.

Outside seating area, nice view of river, fast service, great food and even offered us spray for the wasps.

The most amazing vegan food! Staff were helpful and room was lovely. Will definitely be back.

Just went in for drinks, but still an enjoyable experience, would return again the next time I visit Dunkeld.

Nice to sit out in garden area for a bowl of lunchtime soup, but what a paltry amount in the small bowl. Felt a bit ripped-off.

Great place to stay, wonderful view from the room. Food was fantastic and the staff were wonderful, very friendly. Will definitely be coming back again in the future.

My wife is vegetarian and was surprised by the good selection. Great light dinner that came quickly and was acomponied by a great affordable wine. The only downside was that the seating area was a bit closed off with no windows, but nothing that makes me subtract any stars.

Staff were amazing especially the manager. The food was awesome and the beer was great. Would highly recommend.

A lovely meal at the Atholl, excellent steak in the beef and ale pie, however it wasn't pie, more stew with a separate puff pastry. My friend had the vegetarian burger, we had to ask for relish as it needed a bit of flavour. But everything else was great and the service attentive.

Went for dinner and had a lovely beef and Haggis burger.

Had a very nice, dog friendly visit to the Atholl Arms. Great to be able to have lunch where the dogs are welcomed and catered for. Fresh water for the dogs was provided without being asked for and the dogs enjoyed the complimentary biscuit too. Very helpful and cheerful staff. Delicious lunch, sitting in the garden beside the river. We will definitely visit again. Thank you.

We've had regular walking group visits to the Atholl Arms in Dunkeld for many years now. There are many other hotels in the area which we've tried over time but we always return to the Atholl Arms. The hotel is cosy with a comfortable lounge, the atmosphere warm and friendly and the staff kind, considerate and helpful. Food is important to us walkers, the broad breakfast choice setting an individual up for the day ahead. Dinners are even more special with a wide range of local produce, to suit virtually everyone's dietary requirements, cooked to perfection and served in style. Great.
