Spending 2 nights here in one of the lodges with our dogs, warm, cozy, very modern, and lovely decorated with comfy beds… love the idea with having dogs being in an outside building, car right outside and nice and quite. Friendly staff too.

Staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms are very good and clean.

Was there last night at family party food was excellent service brilliant will be back.

Just had a birthday party at the hotel. Food was excellent and the staff were first class. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Service with a smile. I've also booked a room, and I'm blown away. It's superb. I expect breakfast in the morning will be just as good.

Stayed here for two nights in the family room. It was beautiful, warm and cosy. Staff were extremely nice and the food was absolutely outstanding. Will definitely stay again.

Ate here twice while on holiday in the area. Food was fantastic, with a choice of small or regular size dishes. Staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. I’m coeliac so had great help with gluten free options — more choice than I’ve ever had. The waitress remembered me from the night before and brought me the gluten free menu! Second night we just had starters and were full up as such big servings. Highly recommend.

Stopped for something to eat after shopping at the outlets, the food was delicious, the staff were lovely too, would definitely visit again!

Just enjoyed another takeaway from Solway Lodge tonight. We both had roast lamb and shared the chocolate fudge fixation. Absolutely delicious. Thanks to Gary and everyone at Solway Lodge.

We had a takeaway at the weekend and every meal was gorgeous. We fancied a change from our normal pizza night takeaway and will definately be doing that more often… even my boys enjoyed theirs. We had starters too but they were too yummy that we forgot a photo.

We had a lovely takeaway tonight. Ready in time piping hot even though we travelled back to annan. Steak pie was amazing. I had your trifle, all I can say is wow! It was delicious. The other half had the chocolate cake which was huge. Highly recommended.

Just had a lovely meal for my mum and dads golden wedding anniversary, it was plentyful and more, big portions beautiful, it is my mum and dads favourite place to go dor a bar lunch or dinner, also mine too, lovely friend staff,
I would definitely recomend going for a meal.

Had the pleasure of staying here in June due to another local hotel we had booked for our wedding being somewhat disappointing. The staff here really made an effort to make us feel welcome and rescued the situation. They really went the extra mile to make the whole experience lovely. I would definitely stay here again it is great and very well run family business. Thank to the staff of Solway lodge, you’re great.

Visited here with family (3 adults and 4 children) and received a great service. The staff are welcoming and were great with the children. There was plenty of choice on the menu, good sized portions particularly the children's meals although there was also an option on the main menu to order a half portion which is great for older children or if you're not a big eater. The rest rooms were very clean, there was a covered smoking area outside and seating to the front of the building which is not covered so only a fair weather option. Great food great service would recommend.

What a absolutely amazing hotel to stay in very clean, great staff cannot fault it in anyway would recommend this place to anyone wanting to go for a break or a wedding. Will be returning very soon. A very big thank you to Fiona and the girls for the great service and decorating the wedding room. To Karen and her husband for all there help and to Gary and the kitchen staff for the great food.

Came to friends wedding today at Gretna and they stayed at this hotel. Had a lovely time. Food was fantastic.

The room was fantasic and the staff cannot do enough for you. My only advice is take your own tea bags the ones they use at breakfast must be happy shopper.

Just had a great 2 days at the Solway Lodge, nice staff very helpful food was excellent. Stayed in the honeymoon suit with my new wife, not so good for a large wedding however my wedding was just right for a party size of 40 would recommend to any one with similar size wedding party.

Fantastic stay in an outside room with my dog, evening meals are great but book because they get busy.

Me and my wife stayed in the chalet, it looked really nice inside and the facilities were excellent except the bed and pillows. They were as hard as rocks and I had possibly the worst night's sleep in quite a while. The staff were all lovely and their customer service were ace and I can't fault them except for the bed.

Very good manager food excellent could do with week off PAID for length of service wat you think Gary worried partner.

First time here and have to say it was lovely, food and staff were excellent. Would definitely recommend and we'll be back.

Stayed Saturday for one day just to look round the lodge as we wanted to book for a wedding next year. And we booked it straight away for the reception and ended up booking 13 rooms for some of our guests. The foods amazing. Rooms very modern. Staff very pleasant and helpful. It was just amazing. Would highly recommend this hotel 10 out 10 and thanks to Nicky for helping us to sort our booking for the wedding next year xx.

Good was good but when asked for a jug of water they said they can't give me water as the whole of the areas water is brown, yet they were able to serve good. I used the toilet and the water was ok there. They really wanted me to buy bottled water. If the water was brown, the place should heve been closed.

Had a lovely meal with family around 30 excellent food and service but was a bit disappointed to find breakfast finished a 9 and to be woken at 7 with the fans from the kitchen room 18 lovely room but would ask for different room next time.

Out for a family meal all 9 of us 4 adults 5 kids food was amzing and service was fast and friendly great place to come highly recommend and great value for money.

Just been into The Solway Lodge at 2.05pm we were told we were too late for something to eat as they only serve between 12 and 2pm, looks a lovely place, but poor opening window for sunday lunch! Just 2 hour window, really poor considering its a bank holiday weekend and Gretna really busy. Dissapointing.

Great food but the service was a bit slow for how many people were there. Pleasant atmosphere.

Stopped over at the Solway Lodge for a overnight stay before heading to Oban. Great overall experience friendly staff and tasty restaurant meals in the evening. Rooms where clean and well stocked. No Wi-Fi connection could be found though despite it being advertised before we booked.

Had dinner here with my fiancée. The food was nice and reasonably priced, the drinks too. The service was friendly and the place was well decorated.

We were recommended to go here whilst staying at Surrone House next door. The place is so drab, with conference centre like chairs and cheap tables. The serving staff really didn't like to make any eye contact, insisting on looking at their shoes whilst asking questions about their order. We even roped in our 6 month old too giggle and laugh in an attempt to make someone/anyone smile or even acknowledge us properly. The food was okay, but not great for the price. It took us ages to get the bill, and then trying to pay as near impossible, in the end my husband had to go out to reception to pay, and it was only as I walked out with our son in his pram that someone said "would you like to pay".

Best hotel in Gretna. Very popular with local trade for bar meals. They also have a small function room available for small weddings/parties. Fantastic menu, great prices.

We have gone there every year for the last six years and have never been disappointed with the food rooms or service.

I am a local to the area. I have to say that the solway lodge is by far the best meal you will get in Gretna. Food is good, staff friendly and drink prices cheapest of any places locally. Whether it's a meal for lunch, an occasion or just a meal out never disappoints.

What a fantastic team at this hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for our wedding this weekend. Fiona you are an exceptional manager, your advice was spot on regarding the evening buffet, glad we listened. The hot meal was amazing, all our guests commented on the quality, quantity and how fresh all the accompaniments were. The honeymoon suite was fab with the lovely touches of chocolates and champagne on arrival. We didn't see our function room until our return from the Blacksmiths shop, what a lovely surprise it was. The room was beautiful with all the special finishes.
The DJ that you recommended was brilliant and every request was played. All in all a fantastic experience, we had an amazing weekend with family and friends. We would not hesitate to recommend The Solway Lodge to anyone wanting a quality wedding venue or a weekend break.
We used the Flower Basket for bouquets and button holes, all were delivered to the hotel and also used Glendinnings in Annan for kilt hire, they were top notch and also picked up from the hotel after the wedding which was handy. All the local services we used including the taxi firms spoke very highly about the quality of the hotel and the food, so we had a lovely rib eye steak on the recommendation of Frank from the Blacksmiths shop and the staff at Glendinnings, we were not disappointed.

Nice friendly hotel. Quiet during our stay. Absolutely lovely food with great vegetarian choices, scrumptious breakfast, if a little small. Bar is decently priced. Only downside was the beds being a little uncomfortable (Though room 1 had memory foam). Would stay again.

Over from N/Ireland for our niece's wedding, and found Solway Lodge far exceeded our expectations. The staff are very friendly and helpful and nothing is too much for them. The rooms are basic but comfortable, and the whole hotel is clean and well maintained. Thank you for making our trip so relaxing, would definitely recommend for a stay.

We recently stayed at The Solway Lodge Hotel from March 13/15 to March 16/15. We had three rooms for 5 adults. This hotel was wonderful, more than we expected. Great place to eat, a lounge we could all gather in for the evenings. Staff was very friendly, one person we thought who went above expectation was "Fiona Joyce" right from when we arrive (which was late because we got lost) till the morning we checked out, this wonderful lady always made all of us feel great. Thank you Fiona, for starting our trip off in the UK so wonderful, will always remember the Solway Lodge and you. The Glass Family Saskatchewan Canada.

We would like to highly commend the staff at the Solway Lodge Hotel for making our Daughter's wedding day on 19/07.2014 so perfect. The food was absolutely amazing both in presentation and quality. The service and attentiveness from all the staff shown towards us and all our guests was second to none. All our guests including those who stayed overnight had nothing but praise for this fabulous team who worked so hard and showed so much attention to detail in everything they done. The Solway Lodge Hotel definitely made our daughter and son in law's wedding day extra special and a day to remember. Thank you to Ian, Fiona and their team once again.

Visited the Solway Lodge by accident. I was travelling up to Edinburgh from Blackpool with my mother and we decided to look for something to eat, Soo glad I did! The meal was outstanding. I had the Roast duck. Absolutely beautiful. Also made to feel very welcome by the staff. The place had such a warm, friendly atmosphere. We even commented on how nice the toilets were! Although we didn't stay for long. I really hope to visit again in the future. Keep up the good work.
