Went for lunch last Sunday for birthday treat. Service was awful to wait over 30-45 mins between courses is a bit much.

Had brilliant stay in city hotel for my 60th birthday. Brilliant staff. Room absolutely gorgeous. I am coming back in December. So thank you city hotel for making my birthday brilliant 🤗🎉 Gerry from Derry, was. Very friendly & welcoming 😀

Spent two nights here from Sunday 18th of September til 20th 2022 and have to the staff wer very welcoming especially Gerry from Derry cudnt do enough for us funny guy all the bar staff wer very chatty gs crac room was clean an spacious lovely food aswel.

Our first time staying here in the penthouse suite absolutely beautiful, spotless clean rooms amazing food and the staff went above and beyond for us! Couldn’t of had a more welcoming stay such a beautiful hotel bar and restaurant ❤️🥂 Well worth the visit we will definitely be back again 😍

Just spent a fab weekend here! Afternoon tea on Sunday was a really special treat and finished off a lovely stay! Super central hotel, walking distance to Peace Bridge, Guildhall and shopping areas. Really great food and very friendly staff… special mention to Naiomi who served us Saturday and Sunday, great girl!

My parents and I stayed for a long weekend in the City Derry Hotel the room was always spotless the food was absolutely delicious and the staff were outstanding especially two of the bar staff Steven and Méabh I cant wait to go back as soon as.

Stayed for one nite with dinner package. It was first time hubbie and I had been. Really sorry we didnt book a second nite. It really was a great stay… made very welcome by all the staff. And Gerry was wonderful. Comfy big room all really clean. Beautiful 3 course dinner. Paid £5 to have delivered to room and worth the extra. We will definately be back for a longer stay. Well done for super hotel with lovely attentive staff.

The staff are an absolute credit to your hotel the nicest people that make sure you have the best stay. Second time staying and did not disappoint x.

6 of us stayed here on Friday night and the hotel is beautiful and the food is excellent and the staff are so friendly absolutely lovely place for a breakaway and the shops are right beside the hotel I’ll definitely be back again myself and my son enjoyed the swimming 🏊‍♀️ pool 🏊‍♀️ and the jacuzzi ❤️ fantastic hotel.

Went for afternoon tea & it's was outstanding for price and staff was so friendly and definitely would recommend it. Perfect we were stuffed and we took some home and everything and girl came out with more sandwiches to. The display was gorgeous. Layout and everything was perfect and nothing was bother for the staff.

Cant highly recommend the city hotel enough we had a wonderful few days in the hotel the staff were fantastic as well as the food nothing was to much trouble. Even one of the women working in the resturant went after her shift to get some lactose free milk for my sons breakfast. All the staff are a credit to the hotel. We will definitely be back.

A great hotel to stay in and have a meal in. In June 2019 my theatre group did a show in the ballroom we were made feel welcome by the city hotel staff and we were well looked after. In October 2014 my class got a tour of the city hotel it was a great experience.

Myself and my son stayed recently in the seamus heaney suite it was stunning, both the view and the furnishings it was perfect. Absolutely first class on all counts, food, staff and location cannot wait to return asap.

Just back from an overnight stay at City Hotel Derry. We had a lovely time. The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely too. Friendly staff too. Would recommend the hotel.

Stayed last week had amazing weekend staff awesome couldn't fault it in any way def be back.

Just had a 4 night stay at this hotel as we could not get to New York so we picked the next best city I can not fault this place… its amazing staff who can not do enough for you and always had a smile on their faces even no they were run of there feet. We wanted to stay safe so we spent most of are time at the hotel eating and drinking and we were well looked after by Gareth, Paul, Tommy, Shane and Michaela and many others who's names I didn't get. What a hard working team of people you have.
5 stars for food, drink cleanliness of the rooms and surrounding areas can't wait till are next stay.

Stayed over night. Found the only staff pleasent were the reception staff. In the present circumstances I felt the room a bit unclean skirting boards etc, thankfully I brought my own spray disenfectant. Breakfast was disgusting everything was deep fat fried with a taste of dirty oil. Tea pots old and grubby some with no lid tops on to open tea pot. Not be back, how they got 4 stars!

What an amazing hotel. My parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and we decided to celebrate it at this hotel. Having 19 people staying and dining here was no problem to them. Very professional from start to finish. Found all staff really friendly and helpful especially the restaurant manager who went above and beyond to make our celebrations special. Child friendly hotel with a real homily atmosphere. Perfect for all ages. We hadn't been to this hotel before but will definitely recommend and return in the future. Thank you for everything. X.

We had the most wondeful after on rooftop at the prosecco picnic. My friends and I where well catered for and the staff especially Conal who kept our glasses full of bubbles and Pimms. Thank you to all the staff who are so very friendly we will be back again real soon.

Great friendly atmosphere family friendly hotel staff were very professional and polite just a great buzz about the hotel.

Great location for shops and bars with lovely spacious rooms. Food was great and room was spacious and comfortable and staff were very nice would highly recommend.

We have stayed here many times as it's such a great hotel located close to shops, bars and restaurants. It has nicely decorated, comfortable, clean and spacious rooms. Good food in the restaurant and reasonably priced drinks from the bar with entertainment on every Friday and Saturday night. The staff are Friendly and professional and they make you feel very welcome. I would definitely recommend as it's an excellent hotel for a short break.

This place has really gone down hill stayed last night with my granddaughter booked over night stay with bed and breakfast and evening meal at £125 ordered our dinner at 8 o’clock waited 45minutes still no dinner had to go up to desk and complain eventually it arrived I never seen roast chicken with skin so white and flesh so dry and gravy so dark and tasteless according to my Granddaughter — I had rib of beef which was cold and over cooked didn’t complain as we were fed up by this time — I had ordered pudding my granddaughter didn’t want anything else I had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream the only thing on the plate that was worth eating was the ice cream the pudding which was not a steam pudding was a muffin burnt on the outside and dry on the inside — hoping breakfast would be better we got down for it at 9 o’clock never seen bacon that was so fatty in my life and scrambled eggs looked horrible so we just had cereal tea and toast — toast was lovely by the way probably because I made it my self and the teapots were disgusting.

Good stay. 2nites b and b with 1 dinner. Ate in bar on first night. Prices were fair. Choice for vegetarian poor. Uninspiring. Ate in restaurant, (temporarily in ballroom) on 2nd night. Again a bit of confusion about vegetarian meals. But actually the staff were nice and when the meals came, they were good. Just felt it would be nice to have more Choice, or even a veg menu. The hotel was spotlessly clean. Air con, heating and beautiful view. Would definitely stay Again, especially if there was a deal on.

I attended a 30th Party on the Rooftoop last night and it was such a fantastic first class night! The staff were so attentive especially Aaron & James! Id really recommend this location for anyone looking to celebrate something special! It was so different! Thanks again City Hotel!

Wow. We had our wedding reception in the Alexander suite and also stayed 2 nights. We had the best experience. The staff are simply the best. Friendly and so helpful. Breakfast was lovely too. Really would recommend staying in this Hotel.

First time staying in this hotel and am very impressed. The staff are all amazing from reception to bar staff. The food is very good and reasonably priced. The rooms are very spacious had great nights sleep. Will definitely be back would highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Parking was a little difficult at first, but the staff at the front desk helped us work that out quickly. The hotel is in a fantastic location. You can easily walk to the Peace Bridge and across to the Walled City Brewing for dinner and a craft beer. The hotel is also very close to the Derry City Wall, which we loved. I wish we had more time to spend here, but such is the life of the occasional tourist.

Great hotel in the centre of Derry. Nice bar area, rooms are comfortable but could do with better lighting. Breakfast selection was poor.

The room was nice but the staff was rude and made us wait almost 2 hours for a room. We didn't get into our room until after midnight. The manager wasn't too friendly in the morning either when we voiced our displeasure with how we were treated the night prior.

Great modern hotel almost next door to bus station and 20 minutes walk from train station. Close to the beautiful Guild Hall and Derry's walls. Comfy bed and good sized room with view over the river and peace bridge. Evening meal was lovely and breakfast fine with good restaurant and bar staff. Prices excellent compared to Belfast! Just stayed one night but would love to come back. Small gym pool jacuzzi and steam room.

Just spent 7 days at the hotel and couldn't fault it. The staff were friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend a meal in the restaurant, the food and the staff were first class.

This wee post is very long overdue. We got married on the 26/12/2017. The City Hotel was the venue for our civil ceremony and our evening reception. From start to finish everything was first class. Ciara was our wedding co-ordinator and was there with us at every step of the planning process. Her caring manner and genuine thoughtfulness was so comforting on the big day too The hotel looked majestic, it was our very own winter wonderland and that was only enhanced by the picturesque surroundings We have to say another thank you to the banqueting staff. All of whom were so friendly and accommodating. The food was amazing, the feedback we got from our guests was so complimentary. We were also able to avail of the new Roof terrace for a drinks reception with our bridal party which gave us the opportunity for some wonderful pictures. To top it all off we stayed in the Coulter Suite. This room was outstanding in every way, the decor, the size and the sheer luxuriousness of it. So Michael and I would like to say a massive whole hearted thank you to the management and staff at the City Hotel for making our wedding day hopes and dreams become a reality.

Lovely hotel with very well equipped rooms. Staff were very helpful and polite. Swimming pool was lovely and warm and steam room and Jacuzzi perfect. Was disappointed with meal in the evening chicken was very dry and served with crisp and no herb crust at all. Also no room to park at hotel had to park on multistorey car park which cost £15.40 for 24 hours and that was supposed to be with 40% off.

Spent the last couple of days in the City Hotel Derry, had a great time. Hotel was lovely and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Derry as a whole was great, done the Wall Tour and John was excellent, he made the tour so interesting and well worth the £4. Walked the Peace Bridge and visited the Guild Hall. Well worth another visit.

A good three star but never a four. Breakfast was only OK and even on the third floor the music from the foyer on Saturday night was really disturbing of a good sleep until 1am. Staff are very friendly and we're very helpful when we arrived, getting us into the very limited car park.

Probably one of worse hotel I have ever been to. Bed hard as a brick, pillows hard, flat and yellow under the cover. The decor needs changed (when a table is missing a corner get it changed). This hotel needs a seriously update (picture from the bathroom tiles in blue, white and wall in magnolia). Breakfast needs a rethink. Staff in the restaurant needs to be more focus on the customers. The most positive about this hotel is the reception staff. This is the only reason you get 2 stars from me.

Staff really nice and accommodating as we were in a large group… Very busy place with reasonable prices… Lost a star as there was a very loud group of men beside us and we had children with us but this could happen anywhere so nothing against the hotel persea… All at short notice too and food was good! Thanks.

Had great expectations of the hotel because of the way it was promoted to me via Facebook and thier their web site but was seriously disappointed from our arrival we checked in and asked about booking a 2nd night to which we were told of 2 3 coarse meals and breakfast for 96 pound which seemed at the time like a great deal. We left our room to go for a snack in Coppins bar the seating was old and haggard and I'm serious need of a refurb our pint of Bud and harp ice cold were both dead the roll ups our cutlery was in was covered in some sort of brown residue I ordered soup and needed to ask for a spoon which is sort of a gimme. My partner had got me the overnight as a break after Christmas because of myself working in the hospitality industry for the last 20 years and seeing how much it had taken out of both of us this year so when we both decided to have an early night on the Wednesday and were kept up until after 130 with loud music from a wedding that sort of out end to that.
So the next morning we asked could we be moved room for our 2nd night this was greeted with the answer "well there was a wedding and the music finished at 1245" but yes we were moved room it was only the I read on our room card that if you book directly which we did we would receive a 10% discount, a river view room, and an upgrade which we didn't receive any.

A lovely larger hotel with an inviting entry and bar/social space as you come in. The rooms are spacious and clean, more updated than I expected. Great views over the city from multiple sides of the building. As soon as you exit, you are right in the thick of it all. Guild Hall, City Gate walls, cathedral's galore! This part of town has it all, pubs, dinner, shopping.

Out of the 3 times I have visited Derry this hotel shines above the other 2 which I have stayed in. Clean, modern for its age, with a good breakfast. Staff are very helpful and the bar is open late. Also Wi-Fi works better than the other hotels in my personal opinion.

Loved staying here as we used to visit the city regularly. Had a very bad experience with more than one bar staff member on the Saturday afternoon. 2 Very rude and extremely unprofessional bar staff members! On checkout I mentioned the situation at the front desk and they couldn't have been more apologetic. This restored my faith in the establishment and were told we would be contacted by management in the following days to discuss our experience. But 3 months on we have still heard nothing. Very, very unprofessional and disappointing! Whatever happened to customer care?

Things I liked: clean comfortable bed. Good shower pressure. Gym good enough to get a good workout in (did not use pool or sauna). Dinner was good… their 'Made in Derry' dinner menu very tasty. Things to watch for: there are not many car parking spaces and you could end up across the road somewhere with additional costs. Things I didn't like: breakfast can get monotonous after 5 days. I prefer real eggs (not powdered scrambled eggs), filter coffee not great.

Stayed here a few times. The standard rooms are quite large and roomy a day the junior suite facing the river is to die for. Great place for a day time coffee and lunch, good at most and entertainment at the weekends. Restaurant also very good. Good all rounder hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Got a slice of lemon with my sparkling water. Fancy. Seats were comfortable and the toilets were clean. The rotating entrance door was very slow; many little steps had to be taken. Couldn't help noticing the pointless canopy over the entrance about 7 floors up which does little to abate the wind off the Foyle or its accompanying drizzle: a common weather-related feature in this city, but don't let that put you off.

Great location, clean, nice staff. Free parking and breakfast when you stay with them! Be aware, most places around the hotel close early on Monday and Tuesdays.

Excellent location and friendly staff. Not sure I would rate it as a 4 star, but a good 3 star that happens to have a pool. Limited parking on site, but cheap parking across the street.

Had an amazing meal in the resturant… 2 x people 2x courses and 1 bottle of wine for £39. We had the ribs an the meat just feel off the bone, same also with the lamb shank. Amazing food looking over the peace bridge and the staff were so nice and friendly. Until next time.

Can not recommend this hotel. It has mold in the bathrooms. The carpets are filthy and the rooms are very dark. Not modern at all everything needs to be modernized. The Wi-Fi was non existent in the entire hotel. I found the personal at reception to be uniformed. After all the problems I had here they were to cheap to pay for the parking. Stay away from here.

Rooms are average, the hotel bar/restaurant is nice and welcoming. Included underground parking on-site which was nice. 5 min walk to the old walled city: good location.

Poor lighting throughout, peeling paint on walls in bathtoom. Poor Internet connectivity, lack of outlets. Otherwise a nice view of the Peace Bridge. Food adequate, centrally located to various sites in town.

Sophisticated modern hotel-global standard. Professional Staff. Delicious "all you can eat" breakfast. Drinks variety Spaceous bedrooms. Perfectly clean. Magical entertainment provided in lounge during Derry jazz festival. Expensive.

Great hotel. Rooms were very nice and spacious and very clean. Pillows were hard and that would be my only criticism. Both evening meal and breakfast were very nice. Great location in the city.

Everything was clean, the rooms were spacious, and the location was central and easy to locate.

This is not a 4 star hotel at all. Slow reception service, no security (key cards only work on doors but they are meant to work for the lifts/stairs/car park), stingy evening meals, cigarette burns on sheets, dirty bath tub, rock hard bed, tiny TV, dirty windows. That said the views of the river were beautiful and the buffet breakfast was superb. Those are the only good points I'm afraid.

All was good, except not room at the edge of the roundabout which was underwear.

This hotel has an amazing staff and a great location. It's within walking distance to many attractions and restaurants. There seems to be a lively night life on the weekend centered around the hotel. It has been a great stay.

Stayed there several yrs ago for a long weekend related to work. From what I remember, I the food was hearty, I staff very helpful. Location and rooms were awesome. Only thing I would put a downer was the internet was expensive.
