Beautifully appointed hotel, great location, and professional staff. Very clean and tasteful decor. However, after paying $1, 400 CDN for two nights, we expected more. No valet (self park is a cumbersome 1.5 km away in a local garage without shuttle), no concierge on duty, and after returning to our room at 2:30 pm from touring, it still hadn't been made up. Hotel is understaffed, leaving guests feeling under appreciated. It's a shame, because a better focus on customer experience could have made all the difference.

Know what you're getting into if you stay here. The location is excellent — — very close to the Royal mile, Waverly bridge (convenient for the train station and bus tours, etc. ). However, be aware that a "King" bed here is equivalent to a U. S. "Queen" bed. And be aware that a "suite" doesn't mean a two-room setup. Instead a suite is about the size of a normal U. S. Hotel room, complete with love seat and desk/chair. Storage space is almost non-existent in the suites (no drawers, only 1 armoire with a few shelves and space for about 6 shirts to hang). I can't imagine what it might be like in a non-suite room. That said, the executive lounge was nicely equipped if you get a room with access to that, with a reasonable breakfast every morning and cocktails in the evening. I think the hotel just needs to manage expectations by not calling a queen bed a king and by not calling a non-suite room a suite just because it is bigger than a closet-sized room.

In the rooms of this "4 star hotel" do not give any robes or taps. The hotel is quite walk-through and not cozy, apparently affects the neighborhood with the railway station. Breakfasts are good.

Really lovely hotel. Central location for the old town and a short walk over the bridge for the new town. Short walk to the train station too. Nice bar upstairs and lovely rooms. Our first one wasn't quite right but we were soon offered an alternative with a nice view. Would definitely stay again.

Good location close to Weverley Station and the centre. Standard breakfast. Avoid rooms number 1xx. They’re in a remote annex a long walk from the hotel entrance and everything else in the hotel. 3-4 minutes extra each time you want to get there. The corridor outside room 131-133 literally smelled like horse the 3 days we stayed here. The heating did not work in our room, but the hotel was able to provide an extra blanket.

Good facilities, very cozy room, clean rooms with good cafeteria service — bar, the most central hotels, and exceptional quality — price, fully recommended.

Great location, central to Edinburgh. Shops right outside and a very short walk to the train station, BUT beware, if you have bags, there are the "Scotland's Steps' to tackle!. The Hotel strives to provide a quality service and does so. The staff are friendly, without being 'in your face'. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious. The air conditioning was efficient and not noisy (unlike others I've stayed in) and I found the Executive Lounge exceptional. Well done Hilton-Carlton Edinburgh. I look forward to returning.

Stayed here for a night in April. We picked the hotel based on it's centeral location to everything. Staff was very friendly. We got there early and our room wasn't ready, so they stored our luggage and it was in the room when we checked back in around 3pm. The rooms are massive! There is some much space, it makes the beds look small! The beds were comfortable. Our room was a little warm, and we had to ask the front desk about it. Turns out the heat was on, so they turned it off for us. A little weird that you can't control the heat/cooling in your room (but I know that they are trying to be energy efficient). Our room had a mini fridge, which was nice. (My parents room did not). Would stay here again and recommend it as well.

Very good location Central…

The building is very nice. Centrally located and easy to reach when arriving from the airport or train. The service is, however, underground for a Hilton. The table is completely cleared at breakfast during the walk to the buffet. When we came back the waiters were surprised and think we heard you ate something. For this you have to ask for room service at six o'clock in the evening that the room is made (2x in five days). Staff reacts in the same attack. Whatever might help, would be a smile. Never again!

The hotel was lovely and in a wonderful location right in the middle of the city. My only complaints were that the breakfast was the same every day (I stayed for a week, for other people it probably doesn't matter) and the shower pressure and temperature were strong/ didn't get hot enough. I would recommend though.

Ideally located (we walked everywhere), comfortable beds, good breakfast selection. Housekeeping very attentive and provided prompt assistance to our requests. Booked through the hotel website and liked the option to check in the day before and choose our room online. Free snacks and a simple dinner provided in the executive lounge which was a great solution for us (after sightseeing all day with an 18 month old, too tired to go to restaurants for dinner).

One of Edinburgh's best hotels. Good location for both Princes St and the Royal Mile, excellent staff, and a recent refurbishment mean that facilities are good too. Highly recommended.

Am really enjoying my stay here — a nice, cosy hotel. Great city centre location, mere seconds from the Royal Mile and Princes Street. Room is comfortable and a decent size, the bar has a nice chilled-out atmosphere, and I can't speak highly enough of the reception staff who were able to quickly move me into another room when my original one had no hot water. Service from all the staff generally is very good. Minor issue aside, I will definitely stay here again.

Attended a course for work. Lunch and tea/coffee were provided. The food was excellent; buffet style with decent choice and varied across the 3 days I was there. The general decor around the hotel is as you would expect from a Hilton hotel and the staff were thoroughly attentive and professional.

Lovely hotel at the end of the Royal Mile by Waverley Station. It was perfect for our visit. We were able to walk to everywhere. Room was small but clean and had a fridge which was great to keep our water in.

Great hotel. Every day the room was tidied up and cleaned; We were supplied the toiletries, the linen and the various sachets left alongside the kettle. Very convenient location to visit the city as central.

Brilliant break thoroughly enjoyed the hotel. Staff were all lovely and polite The only slight thing was the way the bathroom door bounced back at you as it did not open fully because of the position of toilet. And I would have liked to be able to open a window even slightly to allow some air ventilation. But it did not spoil our time at the hotel would definitely recommend and will be back.

Horrendous parking situation. Employees at registration desk are not helpful. Don't tell you where the elevators are or how to use the room key to activate the elevator. You are told that your offsite parking ticket will be validated when you check out. While checking out were we told the ticket was validated. When trying to exit the garage you get an error message that you haven't paid for the amount of time parked in the garage. It turns out only 20% of the ticket is covered. You have to locate a kiosk in the garage to pay the remainder of the cost. The fact that all of this isn't disclosed by carrying employees in unconscionable. One star is generous.

Beautifully situated. Stunning Building. Rooms were very nice. Breakfast was fresh, tasty and the variety was good. Dining service was good especially from Errol. Nothing was to much. Cleaning service for rooms was good. Appreciated coming back from a day out to a fresh and clean room. Downside was the creaky and uneven floors. Unclean bin in bedroom. The heat in the corridors was so hot and uncomfortable.

Great hotel, wonderful staff, clean and comfortable rooms. I have absolutely no complaints. I stayed here for just a day while on a business trip. It is perfectly centrally located in the city especially if you are only in Edinburgh for a short while.

Elegant atmosphere. We picked our own room which ended up being on the — 3 level. Turned out to be a good choice. Nice room and quiet. Just really complicated to get there but easier after the first go at it.

Went the the MPW restaurant here and it was so good I finally managed to convert my wife to steak. They have a cool bar just above to lobby too. Clean modern design with all the luxurious trimming.

We stayed here for 4 nights and was very disappointed in the service we received. When we arrived, the shower floor was quite dirty. It is a white textured floor, and ours had a brown scummy ring around the outer rim. There was also black fungus / mildew in the caulk where the glass partition meets the shower floor. I grabbed a washcloth to see how easily this would come up, and sure enough, it came up just fine. The next morning, as we left for the day to explore the city, I mentioned it to the front desk, asking for it to be cleaned. The staff member wrote our room number on a pad of paper with no other note next to it and seemed quite disinterested as she apologized and said it would be remedied. It wasn't. I got back to the room and the room had been serviced, but the shower was not cleaned. I decided to just do it myself with a washcloth they had in the room. Gross. Several other events really disappointed. The bar took 30 minutes to prepare my wife's drink — because they were out of cucumber. I wish they would have just told us, she would have skipped the garnish, but they kept her waiting and then never came back by with the bill. I had to go to the bar and ask for it to be printed. We were one of two tables in the entire bar. There are other small complaints I have during our stay, but will leave them off here. After reaching out to the staff via email, I got a form reply that said "sorry, and we will discuss this with our staff". Another brush-off.

Check in was quick and professional, the room was very clean and modern! Had dinner in the steakhouse, lovely food and great service! Good selection at breakfast, the host wasn't very informative when seating us didn't even tell us where to get a pot of tea or where the buffet was! John at breakfast on the other hand was friendly and very good at his job! Overall a great stay, I would definitely recommend!

Probably the worst Hilton I've ever stayed at. Don't get me wrong, it's clean, safe and in a great location. Just don't expect any customer service, AT ALL. When you are travelling for business and paying a significant amount of money to stay there, you expect to be accommodated or at the very least acknowledged. I was neither. Upon check in, the receptionist stated that my room was not ready (mind you at 3:00PM, check-in time), I explained to her that I had a meeting in 10 minutes and asked if she could provide with another room (even if it was more money). She said she would call housekeeping to see. Five minutes later, with no response from her, I went back to the receptionist desk and this time a young gentleman was able to get me into a different room. Great! I began dragging my heavy suitcase (with no offer of help from the receptionist or anyone working in the lobby) to my room. Except that in this hotel the rooms are very difficult to find. You must go upstairs then down stairs to get to the rooms. Room 132 is actually on — 3. That's floor minus 3. Who was the genius that engineered this hotel? It took me 10 minutes to find the room. And once I did, the room was very small and very hot. This was just the beginning of a series of events that led me to declare this the worst hotel. I typically take stairs regardless, but if you're at all handicap, DO NOT STAY HERE! You will waste away your life waiting for the elevator. The staff is rude and unaccommodating.

Excellent location, near Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh Museum, Art Gallery, a short walk from the shopping centre, well connected, by public transport. Very good breakfast Good rooms, great bed, modern bathroom with all comforts. Only fault of the rooms you can not open the window, as they blocked, they say for security issues.
I would certainly recommend it.

Very nice hotel currently undergoing a major refurb though. We are on the refurbished 4th floor. The room is excellent. Downside is that the spa and gym closes this week.

The hotel had no working Wi-Fi in the room I stayed at during most of my stay and was told all kinds of fibs by the duty managers about the situation until they finally admitted in the evening that it was a massive problem that they could not do anything about. It took them ages to look into it and even then they had nothing coherent to say about the situation until well past 19pm. Blood on the sheet in the first room I stayed in, lack of coherent communications in the staff chain. One of the most unpleasant duty managers (in Linda) I have met who was really aggressive and arrogant the next morning regarding the issues. On a positive note all the reception staff were pleasant and nice so were the restaurant staff. The duty manager offered me a late check out as a cheap skate way to compensate for multiple issues but even when I explained that I could not do this due to an early business appointment he offered no other solution instead, for me this illustrates that at the core they have no customer service skills at all. The duty manager told me in a stern condescending manner that she would phone me back by 16pm today to respond to the issues of course she did no such thing. Another arrogant high charging hotel on Edinburghs south bridge with really bog standard client service in practice.

I didn't stay, but my parents did. The couple of times I went up to their room is was like a sauna and the windows didn't open. It was nothing special and the bathroom sink was dusty. They're stayed in better places in London for less so not impressed really.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. In 12 hours there were two fire alarms and none of the staff seemed to care. Besides the rooms were extremely old and the Windows weren't isolated at all. I could hear every car in the street passing by and It seemed like a police car with serene drove by every 10 minutes. I felt emotionally unstable to stay there for another night, hence I checked out early.

Breakfast buffet very complete and the waitresses Silvia and Monse super nice and service excellent.

Went there for a Ball for the university cricket club. Whole experience was very pleasant, all staff friendly and helpful. Only problem was that the drinks were very expensive (£4.40 for a pint, £5. Something for a vodka mixer). Central location, right next to Waverley station.

I feel for the staff putting a brave face on having to work in a building site. The health and leisure facility is good. Good breakfast. My bedroom was poor. Bathroom ok. I am sure it will be fine when the long overdue refurb is finished. I will not return until it is.

Nice hotel, get use of swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room (steam room was out of order) friendly staff. Fire alarm went off at midnight and everyone had to assemble outside of was a false alarm. They are apologetic about it.

The location is really great, in the middle of it, and absolutely Central to shopping and attractions. The staff is nice, the Service is a little slow. The quality of the room but leaves more to be desired (for a 4**** the Hotel). Schmudeliger carpet floor, hair dryer runs with cold air only, Electrically flawless. Worse but the noise is. If you have no room over the courtyard, not Sleep really. Up in the morning to 6 o'clock the party guests are on the road, howl, and chatter. The Windows of the Hotel are in such a bad state that even in the 4. Floor has the feeling of mid was in there. Next Time, so rather not quite so Central, but one gets the well-deserved sleep.
