What a great room for the price. I have paid a lot more for a lot worse! Orange juice and kit Kat really nice touch. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Decent hotel with polite staff. The single room was extremely well priced for the area and included a bath. Decent snacks were also provided, even if the box of orange juice was a bit odd, it along with the kit kat and ginger biscuits were much appreciated. Breakfast is continental with no option for cooked beyond toast but was decent! Overall a great budget place to stay.

Good cheap spot for an overnight stay for a night on the town. Couldn't stay there for more than a night though due to very very creeky floor boards in the room and corridors and loud guests.

Very good hotel. Jesmond is a very nice location and the local bars were great to start the night. Will come back to Newcastle in the future. Great weekend.

The Carlton hotel is ideally situated in Jesmond, a stone's throw away from Newcastle city centre and the local business parks. The hotel it's self is clean, but very run down and dated. The bathroom door had a hole in it, and the floor tiles were cracked. The reception area also isn't great, there is a large sofa which is in desperate need of some reupholstery. I wouldn't stay here again, but if you and some friends are looking for a cheap base for a boozy weekend, it's not bad.

Well priced, perfectly placed with all the facilities we needed. Lovely helpful polite staff. Highly recommend a visit.

Ok looking hotel could do with a revamp in to todays market ideal for a stag hen do night away.

Really nice easily get into to Newcastle centre on metro which is 5 min walk from hotel, nice rooms lovely staff had an awesome time.

Went there for drinks with a friend. I was pleasantly surprised by then having a two for one offer on drinks which made it ridiculously cheap. It was quick service, clean and well set out. It also has a massive projector to watch the football. Was a decent visit overall!

Well presented, clean rooms. The age of the building shows through in places, but detracts from nothing beyond aesthetics. Friendly staff made the stay very comfortable!

Room was very basic. Bathroom was tatty, tiles missing. Dust everywhere. Sticky Desk. Broken TV remote. Toilet wasn't flushed when I arrived. Never staying there again.

I was truly disgusted at every aspect of the stay and the quality of the hotel. On arrival I was informed that there was no booking for me and that my friend and I would have to share a bed for the weekend. The staff showed no sign of having any training in the hotel business and was subsequently only taking instructions from a 3rd party over the phone. This took over 1 hour to finalise, while we were instructed to wait in the reception area that I can only describe as filthy. There were fast food take away remains, in wrappers, on the fireplace and thrown on the floor, some of which remained for the weekend. There were various items of clothing left strewn over the reception desk and area. The only concern of the receptionist was answering his mobile phone which rang constantly. A family room was eventually located and we were given this. Initially they intended charging extra for this privilege, however reconsidered when I expressed my surprise. The way to the 'Family' room was littered with toilet paper strewn across the carpet. On arrival in the room at past 1am I felt the need to use the bathroom. As soon as I closed the door the handle fell to the floor, locking me inside. It was purely good luck that my friend was there to open it from the other side. The towel rail in the bath room also fell to pieces when I removed a towel after washing my hands. The carpet in the room was covered in burns from an Iron and cigarette burns.
