Visited for a breakfast meeting and wasn't disappointed. Good quality food and a reasonable price.

Food very nice with a good selection. Parkig ok but can get full at weekends. Easy access to bar and plenty of seating.

Very friendly staff. Nice and clean place. Even though we only went for a quick drink it looked very inviting to have food.

After a 2 hour motorcycles ride fantastic pub grub. And good size car park.

It is the first time I have stayed at The Fox, the bedroom was very nicely presented. Really comfy super king sized bed, great shower too. The restaurant is always good having eaten there a number of times before. Just a pity they don't have Estrella Damm though. Kat the GM is very helpful and I am impressed that she recognises me when ever I walk especially as I live I Devon and come to Bury St Edmunds to see my daughter. Kat and her team are a credit to the company.

Our room was full of character; the decor and fittings were elegant and of a high standard. Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent; the service discreet but friendly.

A good alternative when the other restaurants nearby are packed on the weekend. Food was okay. Kids meals were a killer deal though. Family friendly.

Good food, good prices. Parking on site. We hadn't booked but they squeezed us in. Loved it.

We called in to have some lunch couldn't fault the service but food was terrible safe to say we won't be visiting again.

Only had drinks on a Sunday night, the staff were friendly and it was quite, a good place for a chat and a few.

We used to eat here all time because my wife has coeliac disease and they did a good job catering to her needs. This last time (22 Jan 2018) we even had the manager over because they refused confirm they could still accomidate a gluten allergy. The server and manager both repeated the same statement: "We use flour in the kitchen. Flour can be airborne. Therefore we cannot guarantee it won't land in other dishes. " We left without ordering. : — (

Note: £5 minimum spend on card purchases. Good pub grub. Good atmosphere & not too far from the town centre. Has its own car park which is quite handy.

Our Xmas meal at the Fox was the best I think I've ever had. The normally unachievable nexus of quality and quantity with a noticeable attention to detail on the cookery. The turkey was delicious, combined with an array of lovely Xmas meal staples including a very generous Yorkshire pudding (see photo)! The excellent meal experience was enhanced by jolly friendly service from the staff who weren't at all phased by the usual group of people not sure what they ordered over a month ago. I will be coming back in the new year!

Had a very average meal although it was in the middle of the busiest time of year but still no excuse. Expected better and if it isn't, will lose our custom.

Amazing selection of drinks, including a large selection of gins and whiskeys. Very friendly atmosphere with comfortable seating.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and the service was exceptional. I arrived tired, thirsty and hungry from a long trip and my every need was catered for. Service with a smile.

Nice place to eat however last I went I had a prawn cocktail starter & a scampi main & both times the seafood element was skimped on quite a bit!

Lovely friendly place. One of the more unique village pubs, beautiful! Very friendly staff and close a pretty lake. Will be back on our visits!

Lovely meal, excellent service, arrived an hour earlier than booked due to lack of traffic getting out of Newmarket Racecourse but they were most accommodating and sat us down and served us without any fuss. Would highly recommend and will be back when next in Bury.

We have stayed in their B&B. The standard of the rooms is excellent and the breakfast in the morning is certainly enough to set you up for the day!

Stayed overnight and also enjoyed an evening meal there. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating and the room we stayed in, which was the superior room, was amazing. Would definitely return!

Great breakfast. The room, although nicely done, suffered from loads of noise from the above room. Probably could be dodged by getting a room with nothing above it, which I think do exist. Staff, nice and friendly.

Excellent food and what a lovely set up for children. It was a lovely calm atmosphere and very enjoyable. Do be careful coming out of the disabled loo, though… you might be hit by the kitchen door!

Stopped by here for the first time on a walk back from town for lunch on a Sunday. Pub is really nice inside and staff were friendly. Food was great too, although the menu isn't huge but I don't see that as a bad thing and there was still plenty I liked. Will definitely return as it's only down the road.

A nice quaint pub we stopped at for a drink in the sun and some food before a long journey back. Staff were attentive and friendly and the menu was decent and reasonably priced, not the greatest range but good food regardless.

The restaurant has a great selection of food and all is well made and great to eat. The drinks selection is large and has a wide variety of choices. The service is excellent and fast. Will continue to eat there.

The food was amazing. The Sunday roast was lovely, and the dessert was scrumptious.

I have tried and tried with the fox in as it is conveniently situated with ample parking. The service is dire. Never anyone 'front of house' to welcome in customers. Seen plenty of people wait 20/30 minutes and leave without acknowledgement from staff. Food quality is dire, your breakfast will be swimming in water. Food quality is the lowest of all local dining establishments. Really really low quality produce. The staff clearly do not want to be there, never a smile and always dragging heels when they finally acknowledge they are there to serve customers. It needs so much work on every aspect of the business to make it an enjoyable experience for the customer. Just AVOID at all cost.

Beef lasagna and rampaging roodolf ale. Yummy.

60% of tables reserved with nobody sitting at them causing people to share tables. A whole section not in use due to a 'party later'. 2 minutes after my seven week old has finished being fed we were asked to move tables to accommodate more people. Nice atmosphere. Tragic customer service.

When we arrived, young lady very attentive but not overpowering, allowing us as long as we liked before being shown our room, more drinks the merrier was probably what she was thinking because we had room 2 the only one, in what appears to be a mainly wooden structure, with a room above it. Room 2 very nice apart from the chunk out of the bath panel and the scalding hot water and the cold water which never seems to get cold. Tucked up nicely then room 6, above, arrive. You cannot go to sleep until they do, you have to go for a pee in the middle of the night when they do and you have to get up when they do. After a very long train journey it's not what you signed up for. The breakfast was excellent as was the service, both days, but we were never asked how was our night! No use complaining as they were fully booked, as was everywhere we tried for the second night. Went off to look around as the wedding we were attending was not until 3p. M. Get back have a coffee and Brandy outside to try and put some life into us and went back to the room at 12.30. Housekeeping had not been, no problems probably had changes in one of the FIVE rooms. She knocked on the door at 1.15 and was O. K. To come back in 15 mins. Excellent. We arrive back from the wedding at about 11.00pm, very very tired through lack of sleep, and we had at least had the cups replaced, bed not straightened, bath mat not replaced? The place ain't cheap, for us anyway.

I have visited this pub a few times now and have sampled a number of menu items. The overall standard of the food is good, with the sandwiches being good value, although sometimes there are listed ingredients that are actually missing so be sure to check when your food arrives. The smoked salmon sandwich is a favourite of mine. The burger is tasty although for the price I expected it to be larger. Side dishes of chips are great although the portion sizes are a little mean. The fish and chip meal is OK but again the portion size is ungenerous. The service is variable — at best it is average, and frequently poor. If you have the nerve to go there for a meal and not order an expensive alcoholic drink then the waitresses pull some truly awe-inspiring faces. The best one I have seen was only a couple of weeks ago; the waitress actually scowled when I ordered a glass of tap water and was positively fuming when my partner didn't order a drink at all. To make matters worse, we were asked a further three times (! ) during the course of our meal whether we wanted any drinks, and every polite refusal produced yet more scowling or sneering (from two different waitresses). We elected to not leave a tip on this occasion and will probably not visit The Fox again for a several months. Perhaps the waiting staff can use this time to practice smiling in front of a mirror.

A nice atmosphere, large seating area with an open fire. I cannot comment about food or accomodation, but I have a slight grumble about the beer. This pub is both a Cask Masque and a Greene King Head Brewer's Club pub. Both would suggest that you should get a well kept pint. I tried the Hardys and Hansons Olde Trip (brewed by Greene King). The beer was really unpleasant (off tasting). I asked the bar tender if he had tried that beer today, he hadn't but he smelled the beer and said it didn't smell right and removed the beer from sale. I understand that pubs might struggle to get a good turnover of real ale, but I am really surprised that a pub which supposedly conforms to high standards don't taste their beer to know what they are selling more regularly.

Visited with a friend and my 10 month old daughter. Child friendly, providing a high chair plus water to drink and hot water to warm her food. I had a open steak sandwich which was delicious. Some good beers on offer too. Service was good but perhaps a little too attentive, with staff coming over too often. It was quiet though so maybe they were looking for something to do.
