What a amazing place. Friendly, helpful staff. Great little touches that made a huge difference to our stay like free Wi-Fi, free cycle bikes, etc. Great food served throughout the day. Amazing outside spaces for children to play Plus inside pool for the whole family to enjoy. And also pet friendly We will definitely be returning. Thank you to the whole team at Ickworth hotel.

This is a must for me and the family. The staff are great and the grounds are beautiful. The food is always surprising in a very good way. Plenty of activities to keep the children occupied while the parents have a few hours to themselves. The pool is perfect for little ones who are finding their water legs but large enough for adults to get a few laps in. Bikes are offered in a range of sizes and there is plenty of ground to cover so wont feel like you're going around in circles. There is an on site spa perfect for city types to relax and be pampered. There is an Ofsted rated creche also available as well as a cinema for the little ones. Be sure to book all children's activities as they are very popular.

We visited the hotel for afternoon tea, we have been a few times now and once again it didn't disappoint. Afternoon tea is served in the conservatory which back in the day (we learned today) used to be the pool area. The selection of sandwiches, scones and patisserie items were as always first rate and the service was excellent. We look forward to coming back soon.

We were let down quiet badly during our stay here. We generally use this chain of 'Baby friendly' Hotels and until now have always been very happy with the other hotels in the chain. Sadly at our stay at Ickworth our daughter was not booked in for High Tea (Despite the hotel calling and confirming this prior to our arrival) and when we tried to attend they said they were fully booked. The gentleman at the time was very apologetic and did his best to accommodate us but ultimately we were left to feed our 7 month old baby who could barely sit in a high chair, in a tub chair in the cinema room. We didn't take other food or provisions for her so had no choice but to struggle through. This isn't really acceptable considering the hotel price and reputation is only really justified on the child/baby services in my opinion. On the plus side, the grounds are beautiful. We did sample some lovely new wines they had in that week. Would not return though.

Very lovely place, children friendly but quite expensive. There is the main hotel and the lodge. When booking the lodge you should know that it's 10 minutes walk to the main hotel on the little county road. Or 2 minutes drive. There are two separate restaurants where one is children friendly, two large reception rooms where you can have drinks and chill. There is children cinema, free bikes to cycle around — we haven't used those. We used swimming pool — nice and small, perfect for a quick swim or to come with children. I also used spa centre — I had gel manicure, and this was not done to a good standard to be fair. Food Dinner — if you buy a package, be prepared that the you will have very limited choice, but the food is very good. Breakfast — there is a usual English breakfast selection or you can order eggs Benedict, pancakes etc.

Nice location, including access to National Trust facilities. Stay at the Lodge quiet (out of school holiday times). Facilities good, though Wi-Fi /Internet access is very very slow (in the Lodge, not sure if applies in the main hotel).

Excellent staff, lovely hotel. Comfortable rooms and very child friendly. Restaurant is pricey but high quality. Great location for families having a special treat. The adjacent National Trust property is also worth a visit.

Afternoon tea! visited here for a birthday treat. Lovely settings and a nice area to walk In before you eat. Table not ready when arrived despite booking, waitress very polite and apologetic, restaurant manager very annoying constantly hovering over the table. The food ok cold sandwiches making the bread seem dry, scones were pleasant with a good selection of preserves. A cheesecake witch would almost certainly give you diabetes and a chocolate tart which was dry and cracked (see photo) probably old stock! good tea and nice China, but for £42 it is certainly not value for money. Much better afternoon teas available for much less money. Lime kiln kitchen@thetford garden centre, elveden inn and the angle to name a few.

The food is mediocre and often inconsistent, I have never seen worse service in my life it’s almost as if they don’t work here at all. The rooms and pool are actually quite nice and there is a wide range of children’s activities however there is no running hot water for showers or baths.

Outstanding staff, surroundings and food. The food can be a little pricey but you get what you pay for in this superb place.

Met all of our expectations. Our room (Kingston) was a small double and slightly dated but comfortable. Service was wonderful throughout, nothing was too much trouble. Lovely thoughtful touches were much appreciated such as the toy chests, and being able to enjoy our meals in any of the rooms. Our little one loved the cinema and going on bike rides. The baby listening service is genius too. I have a feeling we will be back again soon.

Great weekend break. Rooms are spacious and the dining experience great as well as swimming and Biking around the estate. They could do with some ambience in the background in the dining and lounge area. Impeccable service from the staff.

The hotel itself is set in a huge park and has lovely rooms clean rooms with interesting furniture. The hotel has a wonderful conservatory for breakfast and a nice lounge. The breakfast are plentiful with a range of cooked and continental items. The hotel is very welcoming to children and dogs. However if you are a disabled or elderly person you may struggle to get in and out of the high edged baths. There are no walk in showers in the rooms. Wellingtons are provided if you like to walk round the park. The staff are friendly and welcoming. What really let's the hotel down is the restaurant. It has very few options and very poor options for vegetarians. The food although aspiring to be gourmet is in fact very poor. It is ranked 73rd in Bury St edmonds by trip advisor and very over priced to boot. You might be better off going into Bury for your meal. You will always get a booking here if you are desperate. I think if the restaurant was very good you would have an amazing stay so it is a shame really.

We were supposed to spend New Year here with my family Arrived 27 th December @3 pm Reception was disorganised and not at all welcoming I was given 3 sheets of paper a key and a map to find the lodge At the lodge no one to help with luggage Place smelling damp We were given keys for Downy suite opened the door smelling bad of damp a dark and dingy place Furniture looked as it had come from charity shop The shower had black mould / fungus growing up the tiles The shower plug was masses of hair and black fungus Window frames covered in black mould Window ledge covered in fluff and dust I complained and was show another room Again smelling full of dust and when I moved a bedside table a toe nail on the carpet We put the luggage back in the car and drove away Never been to such a filthy place No effort had been made from any of the staff to check the rooms for guest checking in The ground look amazing but the hotel need some serious management changes I was only there one hour Would never go back And would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.

Cannot wait to spend our 3rd Christmas here! Absolutely love this hotel! Delicious food super service and a relaxing Christmas for a busy mum!

While the building was beautiful and set on a picturesque National Trust reserve, we had a Christmas party there and found the food to be a bit lacking in both presentation and flavor. We were also promised an A/V system to play our own music, but they could not get it to function the night of our party. Finally, we had 2 very young bartenders who — at times — struggled with even using a corkscrew to open wine bottles. I'm not sure I'd readily recommend this venue for a Christmas party. I'm curious how dinner or regular overnight accommodations compare…

Family friendly service with nursery to boot, good food and activities for all; from a kids cinema to biking across the hotel's arces of land. All with a beautiful manor house back drop.

Lovely place in the countryside for afternoon tea. There is a hotel and a stately home (National Trust) but we went into the restaurant for afternoon tea. Lovely clean elegant surroundings, attentive staff, food good, tea good. When we asked for one of the fruit scones to be replaced by a plain one, they simply brought a couple of plain ones with more jam and cream and said Keep the lot! Been here before with a small well-behaved pug with no problems.

Nice staff, nice pool and gardens. However restaurant is let down by very poor cooking. Tries to be upscale but does not even know how to produce confit duck and misses the mark by a country mile. Good for families as staff are very good with kids. Rooms are old fashioned (not a negative), but have not been upgraded since inception. The mattress was certainly more than a decade old with springs coming through… a lot of upkeep needed. A place with so much potential but suffering and in need of significant investment, shame as the structure is there… food and wine is overpriced and there is an issue with flies in the restaurant…

Great place for a family break. Pool, kids club and bike trails (bikes provided) are great for the kids. Very relaxed and informal atmosphere with great staff.

Excellent venue in a great location. Friendly staff. Really good choice for families with children interested in nature and history.

Had a great afternoon and evening with the family. (two kids aged 1 and 4) Enjoyed swimming, the gardens, the trampoline and the kids den. The food was delicious and all the staff were very friendly. Definitely looking forward to returning again soon for another night.

Had a lovely afternoon tea, great selection of sandwiches and cakes and of course scones, jam and cream. Coffee and water was replenished as often as we wanted and setting was lovely. Only down side was the abundance of flies in the room which couldn't really be helped as it was a warm day and the French doors were open.

Wonderful hotel in amazing grounds. Dinner was superb and very good value. No actual bar just rooms you can drink in and a very limited range of drinks. Staff are all very good. This is an old building so every room is different. Bathroom was impressive.

Fantastic set up for a weekend with the children. There are you boxes on each floor and low tables for the children to play Lego, trains etc. Two hours free crèche time per day and a listening service in your room so you can enjoy a dinner safe in the knowledge that the kids are asleep. Food was good overall and the staff are all lovely. Private dining room available without subsidy, adorned with +150yr old hand painted wall paper. Lots of spa treatments available. Swimming pool on site in an adjacent building which the kids loved. Could do with more changing facilities as got very crowded to use the one shower or two changing rooms.

Just one of the most magical, relaxing & enjoyable places for family's to stay in the UK. Aimed mainly at family's but also more than suitable for couples & singles. Swimming pool, free bike hire, miles of walks & cycle routes amongst the attractions. There's a Crèche for the younger guests, cinema, games room & daily high tea for the kids. Food from the restaurant is very good as is service in all parts of the hotel. If I was to be critical it would be that the spa/treatment rooms are small for a venue of this size.

Nice people, lovely grounds, lovely food, not far from 5 star, but needs a gym and information pack about the facilities that's a bit more comprehensive. The rooms were lovely, one was a little cold, hopefully they will be sorting.

I went to the ickworth hotel as part of a Christmas meal. The grounds and hotel were immaculate and beautifully presented. The staff helpful and polite. I would say the whole experience was very good. There were a few slight quibbles, the breakfast waffles were so small I needed to order another breakfast to my disappointment. The room was clean but one of my sinks did not work, the tap was seized off. Lastly there was a wife box in my room that hummed quite annoyingly through the night. Apart from that I would rate 4/5.

Well, we haven't stayed at The Ickworth, but we've an interesting insight of the place as wedding photographers. Perhaps this means we've seen the front of house at it's best (for our wedding couple client) and also a little of the behind the scenes activity. In truth, after a 12 hour day with clients, their guests and family and all the staff at the Hotel, we'd had a wonderful time, been accommodated and treated kindly and had a very positive and encouraging feeling about the place. The setting is undoubtedly world class, the architecture outstanding and complimented by some very cosy, clean and modern touches which make the environment more human feeling and very comfortable, the food was superb and the staff attentive, appropriate and well trained. Our couple had a great time, which shines through in our photo's, and we were rewarded by two entries in Vogue Italia online and in print for the March edition of British Vogue. Can't fault the place and we're both looking forward to our next visit, for business or pleasure.
