Very run-down and dirty. People drinking and making noise until very late. Morning breakfast good.

The room was very clean. The room Itself is small. Wi-Fi only in the bar. Breakfast is free but monotonous. Musty air in the whole hotel. The room was clean and comfortable.

Its ok. There is a all you can eat breakfast between 630 and 830. Rooms are ok. An option of en~suite or shared bathroom depends on the price you pay I assume.

Had a nice wedding ceremony. Good with a lovely parking space.

Location for in or near town, was good for a one night stay our room was spacious but one bed was solid and one was very bouncy. We had a shared bathroom down the hall that was not clean, I had to clean myself before use. The lock on the door wasn't properly working and the noise from the road and club up the street kept us up late. Staff we reasonably friendly. This is obviously an old firestation or hospital conversion so when we slept near the back it felt like it was design for an olympian no elevators.

Has a disco on tuesday night for disabled people which is really good and has wheelchair access as well friendly bar staff too.

I recommended this hotel to my sister in which she booked it. On arrival she was totally disgusted and got her money back. The bed was all broke and lopsided. It was also stained. Filthy bathroom. If I could add the photos I would. Totally disgusted. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone at all. Not worth a one star.

Been there to attend one of my friend’s son 1st year birthday. Nice, neat and clean. You can ample car parking spaces in the premise and that is the bonus.

Very small room maybe 10sqm, heating not on it's 3c outside, no lift to rooms I was on top floor. Should be down graded to 1star. Very expensive £190 for 3 nights very disappointed, never again would I stay here. But close to town centre that's the only good point.

Attend the function room on Tuesdays for discobility with some of my supported individuals. A lovely evening catering for people with disabilities. Would recommend. £5 entry, accompanying carer is free, and drinks are very reasonable.

Total disappointment. Not how it looked on advert. Damp, shared toilet disgusting. Decor very old and in the lobby water penetration through ceiling. Bucket was left there. Was a waste of 74 miles journey? Advice do not go there especially with family. Looks like a prison hostel.

Three words "overpriced rat hole" charged me £354 for four nights in a family room. My god if this was my establishment id be embarrassed. Dont think the room has ever seen a duster or a cloth since the seventies judging by the decor. Would not recommend.

I had the displeasure of staying at this hole in September 2017 and would never stay again! We paid £85 to stay at the back of the hotel which took about 10 mins to reach there to be faced with a broken door and let's not mention the filthy bathroom facilities and the musty smell! An attempt was made to wipe the shower cubicle after pointing it out to the staff but it made little difference. In the end we stayed out all night as to avoid sleeping in the room given. I would rather have slept in the car! Didn't even stick around for breakfast because judging by the state of the hotel I'd have probably have gotten food poisoning.

The breakfast was just passable. The room was shoddy and ill equipped. Radiator thermostat broken, vanity light above the sink not working, only one mug for coffee and just enough coffee and milk for one cup each, no chair, wobbly cheap wardrobe, curtains very old and hanging off in places, mould in the shower. A very narrow "double bed. Best I can say is the sheets and towels were clean, although no bath towels and the shower was hot. Avoid this place.

Good location and breakfast included.

How to say to be objective!
It's really blah! Our room was not super clean and it lived well. The TV is tiny and no international channels. The bathroom is the same ilk as the room, but clean. The shampoo and product washing type products are not very numerous.
Regarding breakfast, it is poor and not very good.
The owners are nice.
Free parking and available on site.

Stayed here for work in the summer, worked fine for me, near to town centre, very quiet in the back rooms off the main drag, breakfast was what I expected a full English. Had a bit of a problem with booking. Come, delt direct! No problems, would come back if I'm up this way again, thanks.

Don't bother! Management very rude. Would have walked out if I had to pay to stay here. I feel bad giving 1 star as they don't deserve that, minus 5 stars would be acceptable.

Old hotel in the city center, old and old rooms. Breakfast a bit bad the truth I didn't like anything at all.

It is a normal hotel, a little old. With facilities properly working and the correct personal.

OMG where do I start! Traveling from Warrington Cheshire to clacton-on-sea for a family holiday with 3 kids we decided to go a day earlier and stay over at a half way point so it wasn't to many hours travel time with a 3 4 & 10 yr old So Northampton was the place! The plough hotel came up! Family room for 5 £95 with breakfast! All looked nice on web site pictures Room 7 we was given 2 single beds & 1 double so that sleeps 4! Wasn't a problem as my younger 2 shared! We decided to have a drink in the bar few games of pool come 10.30 bar closed on a bank holiday weekend so off to are room we went! What a night! There's a club across the rd and the music was head banging (garage/hardcore) (shite) the kids where struggling to fall asleep with the noise from the club the traffic the clubbers! And the dj trying to shout out over the Music at any give minute 11.30 came kids finally asleep so my husband went down to reception to ask for 2 bottles of beer for the room (correct money) as we wasn't getting to sleep any time soon with the noise! The very rude Scottish guy on reception said no way all locked up! Only for my husband to notice a bottle of bud the guy was drinking! Obviously from the bar! They need sound proof windows black out curtains as the street lights light up the whole room 5am was the time the music went quiet! I'm sure a family room shouldn't be at the front of the hotel?

The bar was lovely. Really friendly staff. Rooms clean.

This is a truly dreadful hotel. The 'star' standard in the UK is low generally, but I've never been so shocked on arrival. I have been all over the world, in some very, very dodgy places — but marketing this as a 3 star hotel sets an expectation which is not close to being met. The positives: the staff were friendly, though they didn't really seem to know what they were doing; and the location is good-ish, close to the center and pubs/clubs, but fairly rough. We had 12 people staying, and took 6 twin rooms. The rooms varied hugely, from ok, fairly clean, but extremely dated, to grotty little holes with no windows, broken shower (door hanging off), and a 'Danger' sign on the door due to a large step down to floor level from the entrance. The worst rooms were outside the hotel, entrances in the carpark. Even our room inside the main building had a leaking shower and no way to close or lock the bathroom door. We had to pay for the rooms on arrival, and no receipts were given (handwritten offered, but for 12 people… would take too long, while the person on reception was also popping out occasionally as we checked in to serve drinks to a wedding party in the bar). The room we had was extremely noisy, traffic through the night and a club across the road playing bass heavy music in to the wee hours. The bar is quite worn, with dirty furniture and a permanent smell. This also happens to be where the breakfast is served.

I stayed at the hotel last week on a training course in the town. The hotel needs updating and did not smell to great. I was in room 2 over the mens toilets and facing the front, where people could smoke outside, not very nice to smell this, resulting in having to keep window closed. My bathroom is in dire need of updating, cracked tiles and mould on the wall and ceiling. The food was ok. Very helpful staff. This is all the postive I can say about this hotel.

I asked for a quiet room, they gave me a room on the busy cross roads, the room had flies buzzing around I complained and asked for a refund he refused. Then they gave me a single room, quieter but shared bathroom and smelt of old cigarette smoke. This place is a contractors digs, that's all. I would not go back for anything. The carpets on the floor are dirty, the carpets on the stairwells are threadbare, the place is desperately in need of a repaint and refurb! But it is close to the main road, and city centre, there are better quality hotels nearby.

Free breakfast: sausages, ham, toast, eggs, assortment of cereals; coffee and orange juice. Located in town centre. Pillows are quite thin, they give you two. Complimentary coffee and tea bags along with personal percolator per room. Large spacious cabinets. Toilet/ bath are a bit outdated though. Good value for money.

I stayed here the night of my wedding, I booked an early check in 9am so I can get ready (hairdressers etc) when I arrived I was told I couldn't check in early and it wasn't until I challenged it did they sort out another room. I didn't get in the room until 9.30 doesn't seem too bad but because of that I was late to my own wedding. The receptionist starting an argument with me making out she was a victim. I hadn't blamed her directly but I had said it's not really acceptable still she continued to be rude and has no customer service skills. If I had spoken to someone at work like she did me I would be done for abuse! She did waiver the £20 check in early fee but that's all. The room was nice but their customer service was beyond shocking. I would never stay here again!
